September 21, 1999: Forward Fez sent
i hadn't gotten this forward before, so it was amusing enough for me to
post it on my page instead of making a real update.
i notice that i don't update as often, but when i do..well, for the past
two times, the entries are long! the last one only held a few
entries. :P kinna makes me feel good because i'm doing something, but
then again, i gotta roam around stealing backgrounds for new index pages..
oy.
i'm going home tonight but returning tomorrow after i get my new
lenses fitted to my glasses. it should be a quick and painless visit.
i called mom at work to tell her so, she wanted me to stay longer of
course, so i mumbled something about looking for a job. and she
goes: what?! i guess she thinks that between the two of them, they will
support me, but i'm more expensive than i let on, i guess. some
extra pocket money is nothing to scoff at, especially if you've left
your debit card and went onto credit!
however, the credit situation will be solved for now, i'm picking up
an aid check on thursday..if it's as much as i think it is..i'll be
good for a while. it'll be a nice boost to my bank accounts and shouldn't
change all too much if i work and put money INto it, which i haven't
done for a long ass time.
school is next monday, they still don't have my psych book in, what
can a girl do? (answer: fill out one of those forms.) but i'd rather
just do nothing until i get it. :P~
i guess this entry is as goo as any. last
old entry was
September 19, 1999.
((((((((Hugh Gallagher's 'College Essay')))))))))
3A. ESSAY: IN ORDER FOR THE ADMISSIONS STAFF OF OUR COLLEGE TO GET
TO KNOW YOU, THE APPLICANT, BETTER, WE ASK THAT YOU ANSWER THE FOLLOWING
QUESTION:
ARE THERE ANY SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCES YOU HAVE HAD, OR ACCOMPLISHMENTS
YOU HAVE REALIZED, THAT HAVE HELPED TO DEFINE YOU AS A PERSON?
I am a dynamic figure, often seen scaling walls and crushing ice. I
have been known to remodel train stations on my lunch breaks, making them
more efficient in the area of heat retention. I translate ethnic slurs
for Cuban refugees, I write award-winning operas, I manage time efficiently.
Occasionally, I tread water for three days in a row.
I woo women with my sensuous and godlike trombone playing, I can pilot
bicycles up severe inclines with unflagging speed, and I cook Thirty-Minute
Brownies in twenty minutes. I am an expert in stucco, a veteran in love,
and an outlaw in Peru.
Using only a hoe and a large glass of water, I once single-handedly
defended a small village in the Amazon Basin from a horde of ferocious
army ants. I play bluegrass cello, I was scouted by the Mets, I am the
subject of numerous documentaries. When I'm bored, I build large suspension
bridges in my yard. I enjoy urban hang gliding. On Wednesdays, after school,
I repair
electrical appliances free of charge.
I am an abstract artist, a concrete analyst, and a ruthless bookie.
Critics worldwide swoon over my original line of corduroy evening wear.
I don't perspire. I am a private citizen, yet I receive fan mail. I have
been caller number nine and have won the weekend passes. Last summer I
toured New Jersey with a traveling centrifugal-force demonstration. I bat
400. My deft floral
arrangements have earned me fame in international botany circles. Children
trust me.
I can hurl tennis rackets at small moving objects with deadly accuracy.
I once read Paradise Lost, Moby Dick, and David Copperfield in one day
and still had time to refurbish an entire dining room that evening. I know
the exact location of every food item in the supermarket. I have performed
several covert operations for the CIA. I sleep once a week; when I do sleep,
I sleep in a chair. While on vacation in Canada, I successfully negotiated
with a group of terrorists who had seized a small bakery. The laws of physics
do not apply to me.
I balance, I weave, I dodge, I frolic, and my bills are all paid. On
weekends, to let off steam, I participate in full-contact origami. Years
ago I discovered the meaning of life but forgot to write it down. I have
made extraordinary four course meals using only a mouli and a toaster oven.
I breed prizewinning clams. I have won bullfights in San Juan, cliff-diving
competitions in Sri Lanka, and spelling bees at the Kremlin. I have played
Hamlet, I have performed open-heart surgery, and I have spoken with Elvis.
But I have not yet gone to college.
September 24, 1999: Nan's bday was yesterday!
..i sent her a card tho..i suppose i shall 'ruin' this as a surprise if
she hasn't gotten it yet. ;P and i'm pretty sure i had the right
(new) apartment number on it, but i'm waiting for her to say something.
maybe i should tell her to check the top of her mailbox? *heh*
anyways, the trip home was surprisingly nice! i got in at 8pm on tuesday
night and just did laundry and laid around. i persuaded mom to take the
next morning off instead of the afternoon cuz i told her i would be
leaving after they fixed my glasses. i stayed up semi-late and talked to
meth/zach...he got his monkey!!!!!
so the next morning, the first thing we did was hook my mom up with
hotmail. i know there are
other email places which are better than this, but they seemed more
complicated than i would have liked for her. so that took some time,
and we finally went out at 10am. (i literally dragged myself outta
bed at 9.30)
we went shopping, she bought me things: clothes, cleaning stuffs,
and food. when we dropped my glasses off, she drove..which scared
the hell outta me. she doesn't really drive anymore, cuz dad or
my sister and me drive her, but whoa! it's scary! i was so relieved
when i got my glasses back. *heh*
went back home to get everything together. i dropped her off at
work and went back to seattle. but i'm really surprised at how well
the morning went. i got NO lectures..on anything! no nit-picking on
anything. no nothing. we just blah-blah'ed the whole time. so i was
verra happy. i think she was too. :)
back up in seattle. hmmm. i did various things with annie during the
daytime. got some stuff wrapped *hint hint*. some job
applications. i actually filled some out yesterday. *weeeee* and
today, we are checking out the action at the IMA (school gym) and
then going down to UVillage for mo applications.
gonna see weese too! yesterday we went to his dorm but he wasn't
there, so we left a note on the wall. *hehe* but we're seeing him
today before we go do our stuffs. he's doing goo..just really busy
with RA'ing, that he hasn't gotten his books yet. i only have one,
so i'm not doing much betta. ;-)
my loan money went through and paid off my huuuuuge balance, and i
have left-over money..so jeanny's going shopping today!!!!!!!!
my sis forwarded me these pics, there were three more (or two?)
but they didn't come out for some reason. i thought these were
*hilarious* so there ya go.
oh, and michelle called me! she invited me to the football game this
saturday (UW v CO) but i wasn't too into it, and plus, i kinna told
annie that when her dad comes on saturday, that i'd hang with em...cuz
they're going shopping. *hehe* so larry's going with her. i'm paying
for the ticket, but eez okay cuz he's been real generous with me for
the past...well, since he got here. *L* but he says that i've spoiled
him while we were apart..cuz i was paying for the phone bill...boy
was i ever! i am afraid to even think about how much i spent on phone
bills to him. :P
so the point of that last paragraph was...that he's going to the football
game with meesh..and i'm going out with annie and her father. i'd go
see meesh at her dorm, but she said she was moving in this morning,
going back home (oak harbor), coming back on saturday for the game, and
then leaving again for home! but i figure, this quarter i have all these
breaks, so there'll be time to see her before she goes off to norweiga. :)
September 26, 1999: scary!
hey all, how's the weekend going?
well, friday didn't turn out as planned. annie and i went to
wilson's and just sat there to talk. eventually he got hungry,
so we went on the ave to eat. and then went to the bookstore,
where i bought two big fatties (=sprial notebooks) for $1.99 each,
that's because they made a new cover for this year. so that
was cool. then we went to her apt, so i could help move the couch,
but there were so many people there, that i didn't end up doing
anything!
i sat there for about 1.5hrs, and i was thinking to myself whether
they'd be mad if i left or not. i was bored! but they came, i
grabbed the seat cushions (which were pretty nasty in my opinion),
ran up 3 flights of stairs...beat them (they were in the elevator
of course), opened the apt, and chucked the cushions inside. then
i LEFT.
so no IMA and UVillage. just as well. that morning i got a call
from someone at the copy center about working with them. i told
him i needed time to think about it, but i'm not gonna take the
job. it's M-F from 5-8pm..that's just way too much of my time,
you know? i feel semi-bad for not getting back to him on friday
though. *shrug*
after going home, i was pretty exhausted so i didn't really want to
do anything. larry and i ended up just laying around all friday.
we were pretty bored because we watched enough VH1 already (behind
the music: vanilla ice ice baby!)......so yeah..nothing much to
say about friday. :P
i only stayed up til about 1am, but that was late enough because
annie and her dad were coming to get me to go shopping at a
crazy 9am!! they picked me up and we ate at the pancake haus..
which had a long line. i felt ridiculous about not ordering
pancakes, but they didn't offer breakfast meals like they do at
IHOP, you know? her dad ended up paying for me which was a surprise..
i thanked him of course. :)
we went to old navy, where i decided to deny my impulse urge to
buy a new school bag. then we went to linens & things..where i got
a $3 lamp! it's pretty cool...it's like..lantern'ish..purple with
yellow stars, and it rests on a silver base..and has a beaded cord
to pull on....it was nice! after that we went to target, where i
got a black and colored striped shirt, running pants, and Q-tips!
they must be Q-tips!!!!! ;-)
i went home with annie and we just sat around. tanya (one of her
roommates) came and left. we were watching the husky game while she
was here...so that made me wonder if lar and meesh were having a
good time.
went over to bennetts' because annie left her movie there: "the
matrix." can i just tell you guys how much i love this movie? *heh*
afterwards, annie and i parted ways....
larry was already home when i got in. he and michelle had a decent
time. they were in the shade at least. *chuckles* and also, UW won,
which was a good thing. i wasn't about to pay $25 for a ticket to
a game i wasn't going to..to have my team lose! ;P so we hung out,
i went to take a nap...and when i woke up, we went out!
we couldn't really decide what to do, and ended up going to northgate.
and into the red robin....and we ordered dessert! it was verra goo,
and our server was nice and stuff. then i wanted to see a movie, so
we went to barnes&noble to look in
the stranger for movie times..and we jetted off to the
theatre DOWNtown with about 15mins! eeeeeek.
i've had a great paranoia about arriving to movies late. i don't
know what caused this in me..but leaving for the movie this late
was NOT goo for me! but i really wanted to see something, so we
left. parking was fine and we speed-walked there....after running
INto a pair of lesbians......well, i thought they were....
i was so sure we couldn't get in....but we did..and in fact, there
weren't that many people there....to see "the sixth sense." yes,
i finally fed into it! even though i harbor a great dislike for
brucey willis!!!
but the movie was GOOD. very good. i was scared once the little
boy said those magic words: i see dead people. definitely a good
scary movie. in fact, at a part during it, i was watching through
my fingers. eeek.
we're home now. i don't think we'll go to bed for a while. *heh*
i'm itchy! but i took a shower, so i feel better. nothing going on
for sunday....except jennifer is coming up sometime. i dunno
when but i'll be there when she does. :)
school on monday! i still have one text..but at least i have a couple
big fatties. :) btw....for some reason, all those invention pics
came out when i forward it to my yahoo mail......so there you go,
the final two pictures!! byeeeeeeee.
ps: nan got my card after all. :DDDDDDDDDD
