June 25, 1999: an old email.....
The Desiderata...
go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there
may be in silence. go as far as possible without surrender, be
on
good terms with all persons. speak your truth quietly and clearly,
and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant, they too have their
story. avoid loud and agressive persons; they are vexations to
the
spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain
and
bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than
yourself. enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
keep
interested in your own career, however humble, it is a real possesion
in the changing fortunes of time. exersise caution in your bussiness
affairs, for the world is full of trickery. but let this not
blind
you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals and
everywhere life is full of heroism. be yourself; especially do
not
feign affection. neither be cynical about love for in the face
of all
aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. take
kindly
the council of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
nurture stregth of spirit to sheild you in sudden misfortune.
but do
not distress yourself with imaginings. many fears are born of
fatigue
and lonleyness. beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with
yourself.
you are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here. and whether or not it is clear to you,
no
doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. therefor be at
peace
with god, whatever you conceive him to be, and whatever your labours
and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your
soul.
with all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams it is still a beautiful
world. be cheerfull. strive to be happy. you have
a right to be here.
and whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding
as it should.
June 30, 1999
well..it's the end of the month and i figured i should update!
i can only remember as far back as sunday so here goes: we finally
went to the zoo. but in the morning we had philly steak sammiches
for lunch, larry had chicken...they were GOOD!! in fact, we're gonna
get them again tonight. *G* then we went to the zoo..but it was
disappointing. and well, i guess things look so great when we're
younger cuz i went to this zoo when i was in the 2nd grade. it
hadn't changed at all.
as for the white alligator exhibit..it was boring, there was a
single one..and he was sleeping at the bottom of the tank! and i
guess they rise up for air once every hour or something like that!
but we were pretty disappointed at this outing and went home.
however the highlight of the trip was this BIG FAT WALRUS..he was
definitely cool! he was sleeping on a rock until some kids started
yelling at him, and he opened a tiny yellow eye at us. *LOL*
then we went shopping and lar bought jeopardy and superman for n64.
but jeopardy sucks and we can't figure out superman so we may
return it..which is prolly the reason why the previous owner sold it.
*heh*
but on monday i felt no goo so i stayed home. but i tell ya, i was
very disappointed in myself, but oh well...i was productive however,
i baked cookys and made dinner (fish & chipz!)...it was pretty goo
considering i didn't know what i was doing with the fish. :P~
i talka jen and she invited me and lar over to her house this weekend,
weesa is going too! so the four of us are gonna hang out..it should
be really fun, i haven't seen her in a LONG time..same with wilson
since he dropped his communications class for the summer...slackkkkker!!
*L*
then on tuesday was another day off and i laid around. *heh* lar and
i went out to get cream puffs and i got a small order of pho to go..
but it was huge! and there were two hours of felicity on last night.
woo hoo!
as for today i only had shakespeare cuz the murder teacher gave us
the day off..and class was fine..just long cuz i realized that it was
2.5hrs long. *eck* but i got out!!! and i went to schmidtz for a whole
lot of things, lines, papers...yuk!! but i'm home now and i'm sooo
relieved!!
tonight larry and i are gonna go and see another sneak peak of
'american pie'..(yes again) if you don't remember we saw it late
may, but it's just so good that we had to go back and try again!! so
we eez! and don't forget those sammiches! *L* but i guess that's all,
i'm gonna scrounge for food..talk latta!
July 8, 1999
well, i guess i should update, i don't really remember the last
time i did..but i know i've been slacking off. haven't been in the
mood lately to do anything but lay in my bed until it hurts. i
woke up sore today, i guess i slept too much? is there such a
thing?
next off, yesterday was my sister's birthday! she's 24 now! :)
oh, and i guess i can talka bout my weekend at jen's with larry
and wilson. *G* so wilson came to pick us up, he was driving the
infinity. *ROWR* he didn't take his new car cuz it was only a
2-door and he was concerned about room and stuffs. the drive down
was nice and we arrived at the meeting place, jen's verk...top foods
on time! as we ran into her when we were going in.
but!! before that, we were leaving wilson's car a man was getting in
his and looks at me/us and says, "how are you?" so i'm thinking,
this is a really nice man! but then i LOOK at him, and he was my
old orthodontist!!!! how weird! he said he never forgot a face, but
i think he forgot my name. *heh* needless to say..it was very
interesting to see him after all these years. :)
but jen was taking a friend somewheres, so we wandered around in
tops and weese didn't think it was ghetto for once. *L* we found
some spinach dip and parked there for a while. after we met up
with jen we went to her nice and stayed there, trying to decide
whot to do!
we first went to target for some errand-shopping. *L* then to the
mall..where i saw some familiar faces...and backs..*L* it was
definitely weird...um. so then we were hungry! and went to
ramblin' jacks!! it was soooooo good!! normally i don't have goo
experiences going to new places..but here i deed!
but we each ordered personal pizzas, mine was sante fe chicken..and
it was goo with pesto and peppers and olive oil..*drool* everything
would have been goo but the waiter never came by for larry's refill.
d'aw. i need to go back there!!!!!!
then we rented "rushmore" and got snacks at albertson's. i didn't
think the movie was all that great, like the checkout boy at the
store had said. *heh* though ben came towards the end of it. yay!!
then we watched 'almost live' and 'snl' then went to bed.
the next day jen make crepes and we were back in seattle..to just
hang out.
the 4th wasn't much here...i just read a lot and watched some
fireverks on tv. :) the rest of the weekend was pretty much the
same, though i think on the 5th we went shopping at target..again..
yay! and then returned larry's nintendo games. i mean, i KNOW
superman is cool, but the first level is way too long and you're
just flying through hoops! whatever! :P
i had tuesday off as usual and spent that day writing an essay
that was due on wednesday. *DOH!* but with larry's help i finished
it and turned it in yesterday. weeeeeeeee. i was so tired yesterday
though! i was falling asleep in all mah classes! ack! and when
lar came home from verk i fell asleep for reals. but i was able to
get to sleep at night though. *shrugs* me tired gir.
so today is thursday! already?!?!?! well, i gotta run some errands
cuz tomorrow is a *special day* ... hehehe. and jennifer may come
up tomorrow? weeeeeeee! so i guess that's it. oh, and i've been caught
up reading other people's online journals..interesting stuffs!!!!
July 9, 1999: weesa's birthday and my tree
today is friday and any of you who are familiar with my
schedule know that i have murder class from noon-1.40pm. but
i skipped out today because i was waiting for jennifer to
get up here so we could plan our day o' fun for weesa!
jen got here late cuz of traffic. but she got here at a
good hour because the tree-cutting folks were here again.
they were here earlier this morning but the manager in the
apt complex next to ours wasn't here, so they couldn't
proceed. but i guess he was here now so they were back.
went shopping for weesa at toys R us and there was a WEIRD
guy at the checkout. and i don't understand WHy they need
my phone number? to compile some kind of statistic or
something?! i'd rather give out my zip or just the area code
but NOT my whole number. when he asked for it. i said i rather
wouldn't and he made a weird noise and continued ringing
me up for the glow stars and birthday candles.
we went into the mall, but there wasn't anything there.
we kept going back and forth looking into a store we were
just in simply because we weren't looking for this current
thing that we were looking for then, when we were in the
store the first place! D'aww!! what we were looking for
were those word magnets cuz weese likes my
absolut magnets.
gave up at the mall and went towards home. we found the
perfect magnets at a store in U-Village..which was about
freaking time!!! then we got him a watermelon-looking cake
at QFC, which was 'quirky'..*heh*
we HAD intended, however, to bake wilson a YELLOW cake
with CHOCOLATE frosting (his fave), but there simply wasn't the time!
if i had thought about it earlier, i would have had it
baked and ready by the time jennifer got here. *d'awww!!*
anyways, we got home, i speed-wrapped and soon weesa called
and said he and cindy (friend from chinese) were coming over!
they arrived soon enough. and she was really friendly, so that
was coo. she commented on jen and my same pair of shoes, which
made me chuckle, but eh. :D
we gave weese his gifts and he liked, of HORSE! then cindy
suggested going to "noodles" for dinner in freemont.
so we wented and i FINALLY saw the troll under the bridge!!
okay i'll go back there and pics will be taken so you can
see it. it's really awesome. *!!*
the "noodles" place was coo. i wanted something light, so i
got two spring rolls which were interesting and the others
got noodle stuffs (duh)...then we went looking around in some
shops der..cuz there are some COOL shops! but it was so
freaking hot we left early. :P well, it was mid to upper
80s here today..but in seattle..that is scorching!!
*chuckles*
cindy got tired so we dropped her off..and went to the
plateau! (= issaquah = weesa's home) and it's far! but it's
a nice town, everything looks like new. and i was in his
'chateau'..and that was nice. i met his mom..however, his
dad stayed in the garage hiding..*L*
we called walter over and we talked a lil'...i feel bad
that i hadn't kept goo touch with walter cuz he's
taking summa schoo and stuffs!! *d'aw!* but it was goo
seeing him again. :)
anyhow..walter had to leave. :( and we went onto a
mini tour of the cool place to hang out in issaquah...
their costco. *LOL* got some DELicious cookys..and i
got a polish dog cuz i was HUNGRY! and we went and
got weese his garbage CD for "when i grow up"..and had
it blasting all the way back to seattle. *G* it was
great..just sitting there, with two good friends, good
music..new car (oh yeah! wilson's new acura integra..
niiiiiiice!!) ... a cool breeze coming in. it was
gReat!
home and i finally lay eyes on my boy! it was a long
day w/o seeing him! *awww!!!* but he was talking to
his daddy...so while he was doing that, jen and i got
out 'phase two' of wilson's birthday. *L* the
15 creampuffs (which i preordered yesterday,
thankyaverymuch) and the cake with 20 candles.
weeeeeeeeeee!!
so we ate MORE junkfood..and larry came out..and we all
talka except wilson, who was busy playing jen's
gameboy. *LOL@him* but he was finished and joined
the real world. *L* and we just talka and it was
nice...the whole day was full of goo convo.....like,
the truth about my anklet..*chuckles*....from conflicts
going on between friends...and many other things.
i'm really honored wilson wanted to spend his bday with
us. and i had great company all day (except for missing
mah boy!!!) so today was soooooooo wonderful!!!!!!
but!!!!!!
they cut my TREE DOWN!!!!! they killed it!!! daryl said
they were just gonna 'trim it back'..but when jen and i came
back from wilsa shopPING..it was all GONE! i'm looking at
freaking siding now!! *ROAR*
i'm so upset!! now i don't have any shade, privacy..or
anything! and what about the birds who chirp at 3am..or
the squirrels who run up and down the sides? where are
they gonna be?!?! *whaie*
my favorite thing about the tree was..when it rained..
and you know seattle, it rained often..the water would
wet the leaves..and they would drip..and it would all
look so tropical..so for that brief moment..i felt like
i was in the forest somewhere, rather than a congested
polluted city. but that's gone now. *sigh*
it also had these string bean-looking things growing
on it, allan *erm* he pulled one off for me once..he
hung out of the winda to do so...but yeah....it had
these weird things growing from it too....
tomorrow is an erRUNd day for lar n i..we need to go through
with the stuffs to get him registered and licensed in
WAshington! he's been here waaaaay too long with his GeorgiA
plates. *heh* and that'll be a long day..but it will be
fun cuz i missed him all today, so we have all weekend!!
*G* WE also need to read "henry iv" because WE have a
paper due on wednesday. *chuckle & grin*
i guess that's all peoples..i am currently feeling good
about my day with jen, wilson, and larry..but feeling
sad about my tree...*wistful*
i have a better picture of the OLD view from my bedroom
winda..but i didn't have that pic scanned, but here's
one that's just as good.....awww, i miss it.
*sigh mo*
points of interest (i hope?) to new peoples or old: the
cranes on the right wall....i had this 'thing' with cranes
all last year. something really incredible happened when
i finished making
1000 of them, so i will always make a few no matter
where i live because i love having them around.
the construction paper chain hanging off my paper
lantern was the count-down to how many more days i
would have to be without larry....for people who really
don't know..he was on his way over from georgia!
the tree..well, you know about it...*sighs*
my monitor: i put fruit stickers on it..i just like it
and i saw it on the simpsons! *chuckle*
FO dolla scarfs thumb-tacked to make curtains bought at
bumbershoot 98 with some friends. it was a fun labor d
weekend..but oh wait! labor day weekend will be here in
a month. WEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!
i guess that's all. *sheepish grin*
July 12, 1999
today was a pretty good day. that's considering that i'm still
very upset with the loss of my tree and the weather's been in
the 80s..and anything over 70 causes me to melt.
anyways, i dragged myself to shakespeare and moped in there. i
am not doing well in there because the class moves at a few
different speeds. there's the 1st speed which is how much
reading you need to have done by next class. the 2nd speed is
what part of the reading we are discussing in class. and the
3rd speed is which reading your paper is focused on, due about
a week after you finished that play. but in that time, you're
in the center of three (i typoed that as "tree" hmmmmm)
different novels. and okay, maybe i'm a
wimp for complaining about this..but it makes things really
difficult to understand and to remember. so who knows how i'm
gonna get out of this. :P
i told myself i was going to skip out at the break, but i
didn't..out of sheer...sheer something. i just couldn't
bring myself to leave. which worked out in my advantage
because he told us the henry iv paper wasn't due until
monday. yay! that gives me time to finish the play! but
by the time i turn the paper in on monday, i should have
finished henry vi, part 2 and much ado about nothing.
*LOL* which i haven't. :P
anyways, i rushed to murder class. and we watched a long
film, which made my butt numb. *L* and he talked a little,
then let us out early. weeeeee!!
i came home and talked to darryl...(i just learned his name
has two R's?)...about the tree. and yeah, there wasn't
anything he could do about it because that tree was on
our neighbor's land and HE wanted it gone. because he
claimed it was rooting up the foundation. but darryl said
that the other tenants are pretty upset about it and
in fact, one just signed a new 1-yr lease before this
happened..and HE's very angry about this.
it just makes me sad about these corporate, private
owners who don't care for trees. they'd rather cut everything
down because it makes the maintenance cost less, to
keep things trimmed and neat. and apparently, MY tree
was a rare one. darryl said he's only seen one other one
in this area..and the tree itself was about 100yrs!!!!!
*OOYYYYYYYYYYYY*
but let's talka bout something else befo i get sad again. ;)
i'm going home this weekend..to settle a few matters and
hopefully things will BE done and over because i'm tired of
feeling incomplete.
jen and i'll get elephant ears sunday at lakefair and at
night there'll be fireworks and then my sister and i will
go back home.
larry answered an ad in
the stranger last weekend. which caused me to raise
an eyebrow...go check out the 'alternative' ads! *LOL*
but he found a guy who wanted a few musicians to play with.
lar called him up and they're meeting this saturday! i'm glad..
this way, larry will be able to hang out with other musicians
and get better. weeeeee. :)
i guess that's all though. it's 3 in the afternoon..and i'm
gonna relaxxxxxx!! talka latta!!!!
larry bought me a lil' talka thingie..and i made a wav of
it because it's so cute...tho it gets set off by nothing! *L*
