Chapter Twenty-Four

Ally kicked a rock to the side of the curb on her way to the mailbox. Upon opening it, she noticed that Lisa’s Seventeen magazine with the cast of Sometimes Loves Stumbles was staring right back at her. She grabbed it out of the box and stared at the cover for a second before checking the table of contents for the feature story. “Page 106,” she said to herself. Grabbing the rest of the mail and attempting to read the article and walk at the same time, Ally headed back into the house and sat down at the kitchen table. As she read the article, Ally couldn’t help but smile. Matt had stated how much he loved the late night moviefests that he and the cast had. Sophie revealed how much she laughed every time Ally and Nick would order pizza, one large for just the two of them. As Ally continued to skim through the article, Nick’s picture caught her eye. She reverted her attention to the half-page interview and was only six lines into it before she found herself with tears welling up in her eyes.

“So,” the interviewer had asked. “Has anyone treated you differently because you are a Backstreet Boy?”

“Not really,” Nick had explained. “Everyone treated me like I was just the Average Joe, which I really liked. It gave me space to explore acting and find some of the greatest friends that I have ever had.”

“Anyone in particular?” the interviewer asked.

Nick had laughed. “I must say that besides Matt Taylor, my co-star, Ally Parker, was probably the best person I could have met through this experience. She’s just so caring and giving that it’s hard not to fall in love with her the instant that you meet her. Despite all the crap that she has gone through…” In the interview, information was added about the two mishaps that Ally had suffered. “she still remains the most courteous, funny, and humble person that she can be.”

“I think that you have a little crush on this women,” the interviewer had inquired.

“Yeah,” Nick had laughed. “I guess I kinda do.”

Ally had never felt so shocked in her entire life. She was amazed that one person could actually feel this way about her. She smiled as she closed the magazine and continued to stare at the cover. There she was, leaning over Nick and being tickled by Matt. “I can’t believe this,” she kept saying over and over in her mind.
