“Ally?” a voice asked.
Ally turned to see Angela in the doorway of her hospital room. Quickly Angela rushed towards her friend and enveloped her in a hug. “That’s some fashion statement you’ve got there,” Angela said pointing to Ally’s leg.
“Thanks Ang.” Ally said sarcastically.
“Oh and that sexy patch.” Angela said, as her eyes caught a glimpse of the patch of gauze that was placed over Ally’s right temple, “Will we be seeing that in Vogue anytime soon?”
“Actually, yeah.” Ally laughed. “How’d you get here?”
“You’re mom met me at the airport on her way back to New York and gave me directions and I took a cab.”
“You ready to go?” Brian asked. He had been standing in the doorway for some time but decided it better not to interrupt.
“Yeah,” Ally said. “Oh, by the way, Angela, this is Brian. I’m sure that you already knew that though. Brian, this is my friend Angela Jackson. She’s a pretty big fan.”
Angela blushed as she shook Brian’s hand. She was at a loss for words.
“You’re lucky your not Nick,” Ally whispered as Brian knelt down to help Ally with her crutches. “That’s Ang’s ‘favorite’.”
“Nick is everyone’s favorite,” Brian said laughing. He could understand why Nick had fallen for Ally as he stood there laughing with her. All week it seemed, Nick could not shut up about Ally saying things like, “what if I never get to tell her” and “why didn’t I say anything before.”
Brian helped Ally out to the car and Angela followed, a little dumbfounded. As soon as the three had reached the parking lot, Nick pulled up in his Durango and jumped out, ready to help Ally.
“I’m fine Carter.” Ally said as she attempted to climb into the seat. “Nick, there’s someone that I want you to meet.” Ally motioned over towards Angela who was blinking in disbelief. “Nick, this is my best friend Angela Jackson.”
“Hello Angela,” Nick greeted as he turned towards Angela and shook her hand.
“Hi,” Angela managed.
“Can we take her back to the hotel with us? She caught a cab to get here, but otherwise has no way to get back.”
“I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Nick understandable led her into the seat next to Ally and shut the door.
Brian had taken the front seat when Nick climbed in and started the car. “Man Frack, you are a lady killer.”
“Shut up Bri.” Nick said. The thirty minutes to the hotel were spent with the four of them in deep conversation, mostly about Rachel and how she had been arrested with charges pending.
“My God,” Ally muttered as she walked into the hotel lobby. It had been only minutes since they had arrived and fans asking for pictures and autographs were already surrounding Nick and Brian. At sight of Ally and Angela, some of the fans became a little discontent.
“Don’t worry,” Angela said loudly. “We’re not their girlfriends.”
Ally stood in the hall, a little shocked. The voice of a fourteen-year-old girl snapped her back. “Are you the girl that’s in that movie with Nick?” she was asking.
Ally bent down as much as her crutches would allow. “Yeah, we’re gonna be in a movie called Sometimes Love Stumbles” Ally promoted. “It comes out sometime in mid summer.”
“I can’t wait,” the girl said, a little excitedly. “What’s your name?” she asked.
“Ally Parker, what’s yours.”
“Alicia Wittely,” the girl responded. “Do you think that you could get Nick’s autograph for me?”
“I’ll see what I can do. Are you staying in this hotel?” Ally asked.
“Yeah, Room 204. Thank you so much Ally,” the girl exclaimed before practically skipping away.
“Wow. You made that kid’s day,” Angela mused.
Ally smiled. “I hope so.”
After what seemed like hours, Nick and Brian finally worked things out and were able to check in. Once they did, they made it a point to get up to their rooms as soon as possible to avoid any further confrontation.
After the group had gotten their keys, Ally and Nick headed towards the elevator while Brian talked to Angela about what had happened exactly to Nick and Ally over the past two and a half months. Meanwhile it had taken Nick 5 minutes to convince Ally that it was okay for him to help her with her bags as she hobbled into the elevator, which took them to the 16th floor. “Here’s your keys Parker.” Nick said as he handed Ally her and Angela’s room key. “Man, you are going to be one mean old lady. A guy can’t even carry your bags without you arguing with him.”
“Thanks Nick.” Ally laughed.
Nick helped Ally into her room and set her bags on the floor next to one of the twin beds. He watched Ally as she made her way slowly over towards the balcony. She opened the sliding glass door and limped outside. “Whoa Nick. You have to see this.”
Nick stepped out onto the balcony. In an instant, he knew exactly what Ally was talking about. The sun was just dipping behind the ocean horizon and the entire sky was lit up in colors of reds, pinks, oranges, and purples. “It’s so pretty.” Ally exclaimed looking over at Nick. Just as she caught Nick’s glance, the couple’s eyes became locked on each others’. It seemed only natural as Nick put his hand on Ally’s cheek and led her into a soft but passionate kiss.
