Chapter ten
Moonlit Revels
The revel at the Inn lasted all
night but I didn’t stay all night. I
had a bit too much to drink and wound up in bed with a man from the revel.
I knew I was going to get pregnant…I just knew it.
When I woke up I ran home before early dawn gathered a few of my things,
threw them in a bag with some valuables then headed to my fathers office.
I passed by his room and heard him snoring so I knew I had an opportunity
to take money from the safe. I took
enough to last me a year and ran back to my room to write a note to Michael.
It read:
“My dearest brother,
I have written this letter to tell you that I’m leaving, I’m running away. I feel obligated to tell you that last night I drank too much and ended up bedding with a man. I’m pregnant; don’t ask me how I know I just know. I’m heading away but I’ll not say where for I do not know where. I took money from father and a few of my belongings and I’ll be taking my horse. I trust that you will not tell father where I am or what I’ve done. Give Grandmother and our Father my love and I’ll miss you. Before I end this note I must apologize and ask your forgiveness, I had to do this. Please forgive me and pray for me. Someday we’ll meet again…
