Chapter One

The fireplace was set in the living room setting off a burst of light in the cabin far from civilization. Only two people could hear the crackling of the wood as it was burned by the fire, the fizzling of a fresh opened bottle of wine and the smell of steak as it filled the air. Nick and Katie were alone at last. They had waited for this moment for so long in their short lives that were just beginning, yet at the same time it felt like an eternity. after some quiet time of looking adoringly at each other, nick broke the silence. "Please Katie?" he said with those beautiful blue eyes that made her smile every time.

She sighed, "Nick, I told you, I want to finish school first, get a job. I want to prove to myself that I can live on my own."

"I know Katie, but can't you do that if we're married?" Nick looked at her pleadingly. He knew she wanted to get married just as much as he did, he just didn’t understand why she couldn't do all of that with him. Was it because he never went to college and she feared that he would push her out of it? It couldn't be.

She knew how he respected her dreams of becoming an interior designer one day. What was the problem? "Nick, it's just that..." she couldn't find the words to tell him. "It’s just that I guess... I guess I figure that if we get married before I finish school, I wont be able to accomplish my dream because..." she flushed a deep color of red... "Because in my heart the whole time ill be doing college, I'll be wanting to have babies with you."

Now it was Nick's turn to blush. "Listen, just because we'll be married, doesn't mean we have to have kinds right away..."

"No, but Nick I WANT you. The only difference between us if we were married and we didn't sleep together would be nothing. We already live to together."

“Yea, but it's not like we're living LIVING together,” he said.

"No.", she replied. "But still…if we were to marry I'd want to have kids right away."

He gave up trying to convince her. He would just have to give her time. Besides, they had waited months to get some time alone, away from his family. They were constantly around him and Katie, checking up on him. He knew they trusted him living with her, mainly because she had lived with him and his family for 3 years before they decided to let nick have his own place. For those 3 years Katie lived with the Carter’s, Nick just couldn't stay away from her. He was fascinated by her silky smooth strawberry scented brown hair and her exciting big green eyes the moment she had walked through the door. She had lost her family in a plane crash only 2 months before and Brian and his mom and dad were the only other related family she had left. When Brian had introduced her to Nick, he could tell Nick was infatuated with her. After 4 months of dating, Nick asked her if she would live with him and his family. That was she would be closer to Brian and especially him. She agreed after weeks of persuasion by him and Brian. From then on it was heaven. They did everything together and she traveled with him on tour. Nick's thought's were interupted by Katie. "Nick are you okay?" He smiled.

"Sorry, I was just thinking about something."

"Thinking about what?" she asked him.

"Us." he replied.

She smiled back at him. "Why don't we ever talk about kids? I mean if you are such in a rush to get married, we're eventually going to have to decide on names." she said, trying to lift his spirits.

"Hmm.. what about Nick Jr.?" he said as he picked her up and layed her on the plush couch.

"I don't know..." she said slowly, a sly grin on her face. " I did think those Alexander James' were such hotties."

"Exuse me?" he said in a hurt voice although his face was grinning. She laughed as he sat next to her and started to tickle her. They both stopped at the time time and shared a long kiss, that left their hearts longing for more.
