This note sent in by email from Stratton Salidis of Alternatives to Paving to announce a rally for exchange of information, ideas, and to measure sentiment of the public on the Meadow Creek Parkway and the Route 250 Bypass - McIntire Road Interchange projects.......
Hello All,
The big news here is the No Parkway Yes Transit Rally at City Hall Mon. Nov 21. at 7 pm. We did one last May and it was a big success. We had over 50 people there and got lots of media coverage of this critical issue. This is a good time for another.
City Council elections are coming up soon. The Dems will pick their candidates this Feb and the final vote comes this May. With some persistence, this next council we elect could be the one to vote for a conservation easement over the route of the Parkway, thus effectively killing it and letting us focus on some real solutions. Please come on out to the Rally (with friends) if just for a few minutes to be counted. Thomas Jefferson (in a rare public appearance) will share his views on the Parkway.
Bring a mug for free hot chocolate.
Charlottesville can be outstanding.
A Meeting on Mon 14Th will be focused on planning the Rally and will be in the Jefferson Rm at the downtown Library at 5:30 pm.
