When is the wedding?

The wedding will be on October 1, 2003.  The exact time is to yet to be determined but will probably be between 11:00 am and 1:30 pm followed by a Florentine dinner celebration! I know. It's months away yet.  But it's creeping up on us fast!  We just wanted to give you all ample time to prepare for it!

How do I get to Florence?

While most major carriers have flights into Florence (from the Islands, KLM, Lufthansa, and Air France were some of the airlines that I found), Cindy and I read that it might be cheaper to fly to Pisa, Milan, or even Rome -- all are major international hubs -- then take the train to Florence. (Pisa is about a 1hr. train ride. Milan is about a 3.5hr. trip; Rome is 2.5hrs. away.) Consult with a travel agent to see what works best for your schedule. If you prefer to look on your own, we provided some sites in the links page that might help you.

What's the weather going to be like over there?

In October,  the average high is 69*F (20.6*C), the average low is 52*F (11.1*C). Check the current weather report here.  It's sweater weather for the Americans;  for the Flips, it'll be colder than usual,  so pack your suitcases accordingly.  For the wedding day, the attire will be semi-formal.

Do I need a visa to visit Italy?

According to the Italian Embassy, US Citizens with valid passports do not need a visa to visit if they stay 90 days or less.

As for the Pilifinos, you'll need a Shengen visa.  A visit to the Italian embassy may be in order for you folks flying in from the Land of the Morning.

What can I see and do while in Florence?

Cindy and I plan to arrive in Florence on Saturday Sept. 27 but we'll be busy with wedding preparations and paperwork up until the day of the wedding.  Florence is steeped in history, art, and culture.  Feel free to wander and explore. Take in the sights and sounds of the city synonymous with The Renaissance.  Click here for the highlights.
