OUR CHURCH HISTORY
The origin of Fort Trial Baptist Church can be traced to the early 1930's when a group of believers began having prayer in the basement of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Haynes' home (a local merchant). Mr. Haynes even dug out his basement to allow space for a pulpit, organ, and choir.
In June 1933, Fort Trial Baptist Church was established with 48 charter members (Three of which are still living and members of Fort Trial Baptist Church). The church was named after George Washington's fort which once stood near the site.
Attendance in the 30's and 40's averaged 200 plus in Sunday School and Training Union. The church outgrew its facilities ,and was relocated and dedicated its new building in 1957 , on route 57 , a short distance from the original site. This structure served as an educational building a new sanctuary until June, 1968, when a new sanctuary was dedicated.
February of 2000 found us breaking ground for a new kitchen, fellowship hall, office space, and more classrooms. June 10, 2001, Fort Trial Baptist Church dedicated the new addition.
