Chapter 61

“Hey, what’s up?” Heather asked when I came to her dorm room.
“Tonight’s the night. I’ve decided to throw Mollie in a bag, and throw her in a lake.”
She laughed. “Come on in. She annoying you again?”
“When is she not?”
“She better not have been calling Nick a dumb blonde again. I mean, like she’s one to talk! She gives all blondes everywhere a bad name.”
I nodded. “Alright, I think you and Nick need to work your magic again. You hooked me and Brian up the beginning of the summer. Now Howie and Jennifer, and Tracy and Kevin need the same thing. Then maybe second semester maybe we can get our old room back.”
“But in your case, it was all just a misunderstanding. This’ll be a lot harder.”
“It cannot be harder than living with my roommate! Have you talked to Nick lately? Are they getting any time off for Thanksgiving or Christmas? We have seen them in three months! And they’ve been working so hard!”
“He said he wasn’t sure yet.”
“Man! That stinks!” Brian and I needed to talk. We weren’t holding our relationship together very well with the scarce phone calls.

Although I’d probably missed half the calls anyway because of Mollie.
“Alright, well I’m going go back in case Brian calls. I think Mollie has a class starting in a few minutes, so hopefully I’ll be alone!” I prayed. "Work your magic, think up a crazy plan and we can try to execute it!"

When I got back she was gone. I turned on the TV. ‘Friends’ was on.
“…you make me happier than I ever thought I could be. And if you let me, I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to make you feel the same way. Monica, will you marry me?” Chandler proposes.
RRRIIINNNNGGG!!!! RRRRIIINNNGGG!
“Aww… this is my favorite episode!” I dried my teary eyes, getting mad at the interruption. “Hello?”
“Uh… hi. Sorry, am I interrupting something?”
“Brian! Your lucky your you! I wouldn’t talk to anyone else during my fave episode of ‘Friends!’”
“Wow, I feel special. Which show?”
“The one where Chandler proposes! It’s so sweet! Monica decorated the room with candles and he’s so sweet…” I quoted the line. “It’s about time they hooked up they’ve been best friends forever!”
He laughed, obviously not really caring about my TV obsession. “I’m very happy for them. Although that one is like two years old and they are already married.”
“So? Anyway, I had to bribe my roommate that you’d give her an autographed pic of Dicraprio for her to give me your message.”
“What? I don’t know him. And she doesn’t even like me! You should really switch rooms. Or get an answering machine.”
I laughed. “She'd just delete the messages. When are you guys off for the holidays? Thanksgiving is next week.” I asked hopefully.
“Just two weeks around Christmas. And I haven’t seen my mom and dad since we were there, so I really need to spend a week with them. Then I'm flying to see some of my other family.”
I sighed. “Okay.”
“I’m sorry… don’t be mad. Maybe you can come see some shows.”
“I’m not mad… and I don't have any more breaks til like Easter! And its just…”
“Brian get off the phone! We’ve got an interview in ten minutes!” I could hear a voice in the background.
He groaned. “I’m so sorry, I’ve gotta go! I’ll try to call tomorrow, alright?”
After hesitating, “yeah, bye.” Click.
‘I didn’t even get an ‘I love you,’’ I thought miserably.
