Chapter 59

~Erin’s point of view~
“What time does our flight leave?” I asked Heather.
“Noon,” she responded.
“Is that everything of mine?” I did one last check of the room.
“Yeah, I think so.”

We took our bags downstairs.
“College awaits. Woo-hoo,” I said, sarcastically.
“Want me to take it to the car for you?” Nick grabbed Heather’s bag once we got downstairs.
“Yeah, thanks,” I laughed, pushing mine into his arms as well. “Where’s Kevin and Howie?” I asked, looking around the living room.
“They went home earlier this morning to rest up to get ready to go on the road again,” Brian told me.
“Does Jen and Tracy know?”
He shrugged. “I was the only one awake when they left.”
“Why were you up early?”
“What? You know me, I’m always up with the sun!”
“Ha. No really, why?”
“Who am I riding with?” Tracy came downstairs, interrupting our conversation.
“You can ride with us,” Brian offered.
“So we don’t even get to drive to the airport alone?” I asked him.
“Its either her or Jennifer anyway, so it doesn’t matter. They won’t ride in the same car together.”
“Good point. I guess we won’t all be sharing a dorm room again this year.”
“Thanks for letting us stay at your house,” Heather told AJ, giving him a hug.
“I’m awesome, I know,” AJ flashed a smile.
“Call me,” she directed Amy. “Do you have my number?”
“Yeah,” Amy said, also giving her a hug.
“And Erin, you and Bri never did get us back like you promised for our little prank war,” AJ said to me.
I paused. I’d totally forgotten about that! “Oh, shut-up! So what. We’re too mature to be playing your stupid childish pranks.” I gave him a hug good-bye. “Besides, there’s always next time."

Outside, Heather and Jen piled into Nick’s car and Tracy and I got into Brian’s jeep.
“Why are you already packed?” I asked Brian. “Aren’t you coming back to AJ’s?”
Brian got in, and gave me a look. “No.” He looked at his watch. “I play to win. So this morning while AJ was sleeping I carefully removed the lenses of all 200 pair… well, 201 now, he bought a new set at the mall with Amy… of his sunglasses and left them all in a little pile. The frames still in there spots.”
“Oh my gosh, you didn’t?”
“Three… two… one…”
“BBBBBRRRRRRIIIIAAAANNNN!!!!!” a scream erupted from upstairs inside.
“Alright, time to go,” Brian pulled out.
“Oh, man, you are in so much trouble!” I laughed, unrolling my window to get a last breath of the ocean air, glad I wasn't in his shoes. We passed Nick’s car.
Heather glared at me. “ERIN! WHERE’S MY CAR????”
“Uh-oh… step on it!”
