Chapter 42

~Erin’s point of view~

We were herded inside.
“Alright, guys, we need to warm up,” Howie said.
“Where’s Kevin?” AJ asked.
Everyone shrugged.
“Jennifer’s gone, too,” I pointed out, looking around.
“Well, they can’t have gone far. Lets check the building. We can't practice without Kev,” Nick suggested.
So we split up. “Where to?” I asked, as Brian grabbed my hand.
“Where would they have gone? To get something to eat? There’s vending machine’s in the hall.”

We checked there first. No sign of them. Brian looked at his watch for the fifth time.
“Where is he? We’re supposed to go on in 25 minutes!”
“We’ll find them… lets try the bathroom.” We did still nothing. We wandered around another 15 minutes.
“Any sign of them?” Howie walked up. Brian shook his head.
“When did you last see Jennifer?”
“On the bus,” he recalled. “She went to the bathroom.”
“Did anyone ever see her get off the bus?” I asked.
“No…. let’s go,” Howie led the way back outside.

~Jennifer’s point of view~

Kevin and I didn’t talk much. We really didn’t know eachother that great. I loved his black hair… and his eyebrows? Wow. We sat down in the crowded bathroom. I put my hand down on the ground beside me. He put his on top of mine.
“Sorry,” he mumbled quickly, before jerking it away.
‘Why’s he seem so jumpy?’ I asked myself.
“Your so beautiful,” he spoke.
“What?” I wasn’t sure I’d heard his correctly. That had been out of nowhere!
“I said your really beautiful,” Kevin repeated.
“Umm… thanks,” I replied, unseasily.
“And I think you’re a really great person,” he confessed.
“Kevin...what are you getting at?”
“I really like you.”
My heart stopped. He liked me? When had this happened? Where had I been?

Our eyes met. Adrenaline surged through me. Did I like him, too? What about Howie?… I quickly made myself get Howie’s picture out of my head. Our faces came closer.

Before I knew it, Kevin and I were kissing.

But then I heard the handle of the door being turned. Opening.
