The place was huge! Amy was happy, I was annoyed, Jennifer was off in la la land, Tracy was fine, and Heather looked troubled.
“Okay, what’s up people?” I turned to them.
“I just want to know, is Nick ever going to ask me out! He acts like he likes me!” Heather moaned.
“Well, maybe he’s just shy.” I offered.
“Yeah, a guy who’s job is to perform in front of thousands, shy,” she didn’t buy it.
Not knowing anything else to say, I switched people. “What about you Jennifer? Things going okay with D?”
“Yeah, they’re perfect.”
“Then what’s the problem?” Amy joined in.
“Well, our relationship is just boring. He’s too predictable.”
“I’m sorry.” Tracy told her. “Kevin’s been bugging me lately, too. He won’t hardly talk to me. I think something’s wrong, but I don’t know what.”
“Well my man flirts with anything in a mini skirt,” Amy muttered.
“Maybe we’re all having guy troubles,” Tracy said.
All eyes looked at me.
“Well except someone! I don’t know whether to hate you or envy you! Brian is great,” Jennifer said.
“Yeah I know,” I smiled. “But… all your guys are great too!” I added, feeling guilty.
“Okay, well enough chit chat, let us shop already!” Amy said.
“While we’re at it, you should get an outfit to make Nick wish he had hurried up and asked you out!” Tracy suggested.
Heather considered that. “Why not,” she shrugged.
We spent hours wandering around. Heather bought an outfit in American Eagle. I finally found a dress. It was blue, Brian’s (as well as my) favorite color.
“You should get it,” Jen urged.
“I think I will…” I looked at the pricetag. “Nevermind. I am not paying this much!”
“Don’t worry, I got it covered. Consider it an early birthday present,” Amy said.
“I’m not letting you spend this much on me...”
“Oh, I’m not paying,” she held up AJ’s credit card. “This’ll teach him to flirt on me,” she smiled, and took the dress up to the counter to buy.
