~Kevin’s point of view~
“Hey, where’s everyone else?” I asked Jennifer down in the lobby. It was 2 til 6.
“Well Amy was in the shower, Heather was still asleep, Erin was complaining it was too early, and Tracy was watching TV last time I was up there.” Jennifer laughed.
‘I love her laugh!’ I thought. Then there was immediate guilt as always. ‘What about Tracy?’
“Are you okay?” she read my troubled expression.
“Uh, yeah.” I sat down next to her on the couch.
A few crew members walked by and loaded some stuff into their bus outside. Nick came down a few minutes later.
“Hey,” Jennifer greeted.
Nick just grunted in reply. He still looked half asleep.
“How long will it take us to get there?” Jennifer wondered.
I thought a moment. “Not very long. Which brings us to the question of why the heck are we up so early! Who knows what they have planned for us.”
The others joined one by one and we were hauled onto the bus. Nick headed straight for the bunks in the back. “I’m going to sleep and the person who wakes me up will die a slow, painful death!” he threatened. I stared at Jennifer. She was sitting down looking out the window.
“Hey, Kev,” Tracy sat next to me and planted a kiss on my cheek.
“Oh, hi Tracy. Sleep well?”
“I don’t really know, I haven’t experienced the act of sleeping much since coming with you guys,” she laughed.
I could barely get myself to listen to her. My thoughts remained with Jennifer.
~Erin’s point of view~
Nick was in the back asleep, Howie had headed that way, too. Brian and AJ had taken the opertunity to grab Nick’s Super Nintendo. Kevin and Tracy were talking, although Kevin looked really distracted.
I sat next to Jennifer, wondering why Kevin kept looking over at us.
“What are you so happy about?” Heather joined us, along with Amy.
I sighed. “I just can’t stop smiling.”
“You look like you slept with a coathanger in your mouth,” Amy commented.
That only made my grin widen.
“Well are you gonna tell us why your so happy or not?” Heather wondered.
“Brian and I are going on our first date tonight!”
“Awesome,” Jennifer smiled.
“Where are you going?” Amy wondered.
“Probably out to eat,” I guessed.
“More importantly, what are you going to wear?” she continued.
“Well I was thinking clothes, but I haven’t gotten any further than that.”
“We’re gonna need to take a shopping trip today!” now she was the one smiling. “As your friend, I will not allow you to wear kackis and some old shirt on your first date with him!”
“No. I am not wearing a dress, I Hate dresses! And besides, we won’t have time.”
Lou Pearlman, who’d been sitting up front, stood up to get everyone’s attention. “Okay guys, we’re on our way to a photo shoot for the cover of Teen. That’ll only take a few hours, then you can get a bite to eat, and then we’ll head over to Saturday Night Live.”
I saw AJ open his mouth to say something nasty to Pearlmen, but he stopped.
“Ah, so we’ll have time before the show!” Amy grinned.
“We don’t even know where a mall is at,” I argued.
Jennifer, still looking out the window pointed, “There’s one.”
“Well… uh… how are we going to get there?”
Just then the bus pulled up for the photo shoot. It was right down the busy street from the mall. All odds were against me.
“Let’s hit the mall.” Amy chanted.
