I was awaken by thunder. It was a little past nine AM. Unable to go back to sleep, I went downstairs. Heather and Tracy were eating breakfast and Jen and Amy were talking in the living room.
“What if Kevin asked you out on a date?” Heather asked.
“Maybe…I don’t know! Why do you keep bugging me about it?” Tracy wondered.
“Oh, no reason.” Heather said, looking away. I knew that something was up.
“Morning sunshine.” Tray said sarcastically when she saw me. I hadn’t bothered to brush my hair or anything.
“Its raining so we can’t go to the beach today,” I complained.
“AJ, Howie and I are going to the mall, if anyone wants to come.” Amy chipped in.
“Oh, I wanna come! I wanna check out the mall. They have an Abercrombie&Fitch there.” Jen said.
“Nick and Brian said yesterday they were going to play basketball. But since it’s raining, they’ll probably end up at some arcade.” Tracy said.
“So everyone’s got plans except us three and probably Kevin.” I said. “What do we do?”
“Hang out here, go to some stores, ice skate..” Tracy started suggesting.
“Oh! Let’s go ice skating!” I exclaimed. It was one of my favorite hobbies.

“Resistence is futile! Beat ya again!” Nick rubbed it in my face. We were playing Mortal Kombat at a local arcade we’d found.
“Oh, shut-up! The joystick..is..is jammed!” I studdered.
“You said that during the other game, too!” he didn’t buy it.
“Well..uh.. it was true!” I exclaimed. “Come on, let’s get some lunch, I’m starving.”
“Jen and Howie are shopping with AJ and Amy.” Nick said out of nowhere. “Double date!”
“Um, great.” I wondered why he thought that was so great.
“So, any past crushes coming back to you?” Nick asked, hopefully. “There’s a rumour that someone you used to like, still likes you!”
“What? Seriously?”
“Yep, would I lie to ya?”
“I can’t believe she likes me!” I sighed, surprised. Did I still like her? I mean, Jen had dumped me! Broken my heart. We were friends and all, but she didn’t act like she still liked me...
~Jen’s point of view~
“Man! AJ stop wasting all your money!” Amy groaned.
“What can I say? If I see something I know I won’t see again, I have to have it.” AJ replied. “D over there, won’t spend a cent!”
“A penny saved is a penny earned..” Howie started.
“And a penny earned, will buy you nothing.” Amy laughed. “We’re going to check out Old Navy, we’ll meet ya in awhile at Mickey D’s?”
“Okay, that’s fine.” I said, and we walked around the food square. “So, Howie, where do you live?” I asked, wanting to get to know him better. He was so incredibly sweet!
“I’ve lived in Orlando since I was a little kid. I met AJ like seven years ago during a talent competition.”
“Who won?”
“He beat me.” Howie blushed.
