The Phrase of the Day was established on October 3, 2001, by Mr. Nicholas DeSantis, Mr. David Wetzel, and me, Mr. Nicholas Ruiz. How did it all get started? Well, it's a long story...
But I can sum it up for you. It all started during a typical school day in September of 2000. Nick DeSantis, Dan D'Amico, and I were eating lunch and were listening to Jason Handy's gibberish about the "hot seniors sitting at the lunch table" behind Nick and I. Eventually, I got tired of his perverted tirade and I mentioned a word I learned back in Virginia...Felch. So I gave Handy and the boys the definition, and they were horrified beyond belief. Being new to the state and to the school, they thought I was a hick with issues.
Oh, but they were wrong...In the end of September, 2001, Dave Wetzel and Ashley Sulpizio got an email forward of the Dictionary of Obscure Sexual Terms. The Third Party forwarded it to Mr. DeSantis. So, Nick read it...lo and behold! felch was there! From that day forward, Nick no longer thought of me as a "hick with issues." After reporting me of his findings, I received the Dictionary in its entirety.
There were so many robust words within the Dictionary...I could hardly believe my eyes. After an elite meeting with Dave and Nick, we came to the consensus that we must be enlightened by the words of the Dictionary and thus began the Phrase of the Day. We each take certain weeks to choose a Phrase of the Day to discuss between ourselves and several other elitists. In addition to being the founder, I am also the Recording Secretary who keeps track of the Phrases of the Day and hold the election for the Phrases of the Week, Month, and the acclaimed "Second Best Phrase of the Year."
Since "felch," or "felching," was the phrase that opened up this window of opportunity for us, it is reserved as the Phrase of the Year...Then again, it IS the best phrase of them all.
