The newest DragonRiders of Pern book is due to hit the shelves on April 3rd, 2001. The book is entitled "The Skies of Pern"
Anne's new site is up and ready at The Worlds of Anne McCaffrey
Anne McCaffrey is the author of many books, including the popular
Dragonriders Of Pern series and the Tower and the Hive series. She has won
numerous Hugo and Nebula awards for her books, which include some collections of short stories as well as her novels.
She has written over 25 novels, and released her newest novel only a few weeks ago. Her most popular and well-known series is the Dragonriders of Pern series, containing 15 novels and numerous short stories, as well as 2 supplementary books, The Dragonlover's Guide to Pern and The Atlas of Pern.
Anne Inez McCaffrey was born on the 1st of April,1926, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She started out as a character actress in Lambertsville, New Jersey. She then studied music for nine years and ended her theatre experience with the stage direction of the American premiere of Carl
Orff's "Ludis De Nato Infante Mirificus", in which she also played a
witch.
Her first novel, "Restoree", was written as a protest against the
unrealistic portrayals of women in the science fiction novels of the
1950's.
Anne McCaffrey is one of the world's leading science fiction authors, and has won both the Hugo and the Nebula Award, the E.E 'Doc' Smith and
the the Golden Pen award. She has also been the winner of the Science Fiction Book Club Award seven times.
She now lives in a house of her own design Dragonhold-Underhill in County Wicklow, Ireland. She also runs a private livery stable.
