My Goals:

Goal 1: Score more fantasy points than any other team

Goal 2: Score more touchdowns than any other team

Goal 3: Score more field goals than any other team

You may know that these first three goals are the league tiebreakers, should two teams finish with the same record. Some of you may remember that although I finished 1998 tied for the best record, and that although I defeated the guy I was tied with in both head-to-head match-ups, I was not crowned champion due to one of the above tiebreakers. Head-to-head results have no meaning in this league, so I felt it imperative to mold my team from the start to get some of these "aces in the hole."

Goal 4: Get at least 13 wins

It is naive to believe one can go undefeated over the course of a full fantasy season. I have scored as little as 60 points in a win, and as many as 97 points in a loss. I felt a 13-4 record would put me among the league leaders this year, just as it did last year.

Goal 5: Have a winning record against the coaches I know personally.

This season, that would be (in alphabetical order) Erik Dowgos, Jerry Marlatt, Bill Pittman, and Aubrey Robertson.

Goal 6: Finish in the top nine in turnovers surrendered.

My team always turns the ball over a lot. My young QB passes a lot, and I choose to start many more running backs than other teams. But now, since each turnover is -3 points instead of -2 (a recent change), this is now a goal of mine. I'm not sure if I will meet this goal, or even if I will pull RBs out of my line-up for WRs if it looks like I won't reach it, but I don't want to have all these dang fumbles.

Goal 7: Lead the league in total Defensive Points scored.

Goal 8: Finish among the top three in Passing, Rushing, and Receiving Yards; finish first in Total Yards.

Goal 9: Lead the league in the number of triple-digit scores recorded.

These last three goals are just pet-peeves of mine: things I like to accomplish. They promote success and also support other league goals, but more importantly, they are benchmarks upon which rumor mill posts are made of -- especially the last goal.
