JESUS Christ explained the irony.
JESUS Christ first said as written in the previous Sermon "Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever receives the one I send receives Me, and whoever receives Me receives the One who sent Me" (https://www.angelfire.com/ut/a2/jesusjohn13v20.html). JESUS Christ then said as written in this Sermon from
John 13:21 "After Jesus had said this, He became troubled in spirit and testified, 'Truly, truly, I tell you, one of you will betray Me' " (https://biblehub.com/john/13-21.htm Berean Standard Bible).
John 13:21 Formula "After Jesus had said this, He became troubled in spirit" = "and testified," x " 'Truly, truly, I tell you, one of you will betray Me' ".
Such drastic irony. His Disciples personally saw His Many Miracles!

Many have been against any alcohol. As written in the Bible this next verse is stated in 3 parts for to Edify;
"You and your sons are not to drink wine or strong drink"
though Behold how it applies "when you enter the Tent of Meeting," such as for to Preach,

though "die" refers to dying from Higher Level Grace, if to have too much alcohol as written in the next verse

"Higher Level Grace", and perhaps (see above "Definitions": JIA) B. in secular level laws.
Also note in the Bible there was severe action against the strayed, symbolically such as if to not honor the Sabbath a person might instantly be struck dead, so the People sought to form their secular level government for as much as to be Biblically Appropriate, JIA, for to be less strict. These 2 depictions, the clear, and the partially obscured together symbolize the 24 of the previous verse. This agrees with JESUS Christ the Son (see above "betray"), and Higher Level clear JESUS Christ the Father: Anewly realized all the more as seen.
