John 13:17 Formula "Now that you know these things," = "you will be blessed" x "if you do them.".
JESUS Christ is not fickle as many translations formerly started John 13:17 "If you know these things", though in the Lexicon the word "If" in Greek is not the same as the word "if" in Greek (https://biblehub.com/john/13-17.htm), and the first "If" means "Whether" (at https://biblehub.com/john/9-25.htm).
As stated above "JESUS Christ is not fickle" hence such as sense 2 applies:

The purgatory exists, and even though JESUS Christ is All Powerful, He allows people to opt. Hence if a person opts to be a horrific criminal and is killed from behind as with a powerful explosive [passed away from census] and that person had no time to consider opting repentance [much less any Higher Level according to JESUS Christ Spirit Father Of Holy Faithfulness One],
their precious Soul goes somewhere: purgatory.
As written in Revelation 21:27 New International Version "Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life".
Many are aware there were two others on crosses either side of JESUS and one repented. Something else happened to the other as the other opted. It was similar to the Legion that opted to go into pigs and drown.
The word "purgatory" is from the word "purge". And here's definition: "suffix: -atory
(forming adjectives) relating to or involving an action." (Oxford).
Hence "purgatory" describes the "purge" as written concerning the Prophet in Matthew 16:4 New International Version " 'A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.' Jesus then left them and went away.".
So the hope of Souls in "purgatory" is at least full repentance and to be vomited, purged [as Jonah and rather within Faith of JESUS Christ hence in the Soul]

As stated above "JESUS Christ Spirit Father Of Holy Faithfulness One" tells "His Eternal Truth Best For All", and it can be that with such as gradual JIA Faithfulness there can be gradual healing in such Faithful Person [Broadcasting (ibid.)] as a rate can apply. This same rate can enable many more Miracles.
There is much bad info on the mind of any bad thinker. Bad thinking causes emotional and physiological disorders, sickness; mental [thoughts, about what truth is,...] and brain damages; reference for instance the opposite such as has been said that IQ has been increased in certain people in certain activities, though IQ is Not sufficient, IQ can lead a Soul astray about much proficiency, such as a spaceship crashing into a rock mountain, then if pertinent to repeat "purgatory".
Therefore as written in Philippians 4:8 New Living Translation "And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." (as written above).
