Tim Curry

Tim Curry, a very talented voice actor, has played mostly criminals, villains, and other weirdoes in his voice career.

He’s done voices for quite a few TV shows. Some of his earlier characters included Taurus Bulba, one of the many villains on Darkwing Duck, Mal on Captain Planet, Dragonas of Mighty Ducks, Gargoyle's Dr. Sevarius, Konk on Pirates of Dark Water, the King on the Saturday Morning version of Sonic the Hedgehog, and Prince Charles, one of the guest stars on Tiny Toon Adventures. More recently, he’s voiced Zimbo of Aaahh! Real Monsters, Trader Slick of Jumanji: The Animated Series, Mr. Leichliter, the drama critic, on Hey Arnold!, and Nigel Thornberry of The Wild Thornberrys.

Tim Curry has also provided voices for characters on several animated movies. These include Hexxus from Fern Gully, Drake from Pebble and Penguin, Forte from Belle’s Enchanted Christmas, and Rex Pester (the reporter) from The Rugrats Movie.

Tim Curry started out as a screen actor when he starred as Dr. Frank N. Furter in the cult-hit Rocky Horror Picture Show. He’s been in lots of other live-action movies since then, but the only ones that I can think of right now are Muppet Treasure Island, Home Alone II, one of the Three Musketeer remakes, The Hunt for Red October, Clue, Congo *shudder*, and a movie with Frances McDermont and Bob Hoskins that I currently can’t remember the name of. He now seems to do mostly voice-acting, though.

I first heard of Tim Curry when I was about six, when my aunt, who is very nice but not terribly responsible, let Bridget and me watch Rocky Horror Picture Show. Being fairly normal six-year-olds, we didn’t understand most of the stuff in the movie, but, for some reason, became obsessed with it for several years (probably because of the great songs, which we faithfully memorized and sang practically every day, to the horror of our mom and delight of our dad). It comes as no surprise, then, that when we watched Fern Gully, we instantly recognized Hexxus’s voice.

Robin first learned of Tim Curry when she saw Muppet Treasure Island, but discovered that he did voice acting only when she saw a Nicksclusive: Behind the Wild Thornberrys.

Mr. Curry was nominated for an Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Voice Acting by a Male Performer in an Animated Feature Production for his role as Forte in "Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas" in 1998.
