TV Watchdog Upholds Compaint Against 'That Decapitations Show!'

Cable broadcaster UK Atrocities faces an uphill battle to retain its licence after the ITC upheld complaints against their prime time, home-video howlers programme ‘That Decapitations Show!’

The programme, which aired for the first time last Saturday evening, involves contestants betting on which of the subjects of a home-video will be decapitated, and how. Billed by UK Atrocities as “A fun look at what can happen when people ‘lose their heads’, with top prizes and surprise forfeits”, the programme immediately attracted a barrage of criticism.

The programme’s producer Andy Kant intends to appeal against the decision, and defended the show yesterday. “The fact is that decapitations happen every day. They are a hard fact of life, no matter how much certain people may wish to deny it. My only question is what do we do about it? Do we turn our faces away and ignore the issue? Or do we capture them on film, edit them together, add sound effects, incidental music and a hilarious voiceover from Steve Penk, and try and draw something positive from the tragedy.”

Nonetheless, it is expected that the decision will be upheld in the event of any appeal. As a result, things are also looking bleak for UK Atrocity shows ‘Britain’s Stabbiest Ex-Husbands’ and ‘Lights, Camera, Female Circumcision!’
