Telstar Arcade (1976)

The Telstar Arcade is often considered to be one of the most interesting consoles ever made. It features a triangular case, each side of which allows a different type of play. The first side allows playing “pong” games such as tennis. The second side allows quick draw shooting games. The third side features a wheel and gear box allowing playing of some car racing games. At the time, this was top of the range technology as previously, all car racing games had joystick controls.

The Telstar Arcade is one of the earliest to use cartridges containing a dedicated game chip. The cartridge format was also quite unique in that is was a silver triangular case which connects horizontally on the top of the console.

Coleco released only four cartridges for the Telstar Arcade. The first one was sold with the system and the others were available separately for the price of $25.
