Tweaking Counter-Strike

Tweaking Counter-Strike looks like a hard job but, it is nothing more than looking over a config file.  I have put my own AutoExec.cfg for download.  It boosts your fps and your game speed by decreasing the graphics slightly and setting the server to client side updating.  

If you choose to download the AutoExec.cfg file, you should follow some simple directions.  After installing the file into your Counter-Strike directory, delete your Custom.hpk file.  This will delete the file that holds the downloaded sprays that are downloaded every time you join a game.  

Also make sure to have downloaded the newest drives for your graphics card.  Make sure to have the greatest refresh frequency for your monitor is being used.  To do this go to control panel/ display properties/ settings/ advanced/ monitor.  Also make sure to turn of Vsync.  Go to control panel/ display properties/ settings/ advanced/ "videocard name" / additional properties and going to Direct3D or OpenGl depending on which is supported.  Find Vsync and turn to "Always Off".  If you turn of Vsync your fps will advance to a higher level/number.

You can also download the "block models" for Counter-Strike at the Downloads section.  This will change your current player models to "Lego men".  It is quite amusing and will save you a decent amount of fps.
