If you look at the stats, batting and pitching, the Red Sox are statistically are the best team in baseball. They are losing because of the errors (unearned runs) and bad luck. The latter is a factor, and is eliminated by 167 games in a season. The stats suggest that the Sox are going to have a terrific second half.

Rumors are out there, but the buzz is only mild at best that Johnson will be traded to Boston. The yankees have the payroll. The Angels have the prospects. The Diamond backs also stand to suffer significant fan anger if they trade their superstar player. Guess: Johnson stays in Arizona.
