1972 GMC SPRINT PAGE -- THE
TRANSFORMATION
The Sprint, seen on the previous page, was painted a puke yellow, and
here are some pics when the pickup is slowly metamorphosizing to its current
state. This would take another few years before the Sprint was unveiled
and operational during May 1999.

Here's the Sprint, after the main shell was repainted. The doors
and A/C box were removed at this point, and the frame horn, which was damaged,
was straightened before the color pigmentation. Look at the pic below,
which was abstracted from the October 1996 issue of The Chevelle Report
(the NCOA newsletter magazine for NCOA members):

The Sprint, seen on the main page, had its influence from this Chevelle
Report article on a 1972 SS. Note the white stripes and orange paint,
along with the Z28 Rallies, which are influential to the current status
of the Sprint. Click on the above image to read the article.
The final coat, which was a touch-up job, was done in January 1999,
when the Sprint was being readied for the upcoming Chevelle-abration '99.

Here's the final product (pic courtesy of Don
Seributra). The primered hood is part of a 1970 El Camino parts
car, which has numerous rust and corrosion, as well as a tailgate from
a 1968 El Camino (1968 tailgates are smooth, without the backup lenses
in the tailgate. Backup lenses in the tailgate are common with 1969-72
Elkies and Sprints.)
