Hello there!
Welcome to this section,
This section was meant to give more ideas to lead guitarist who are stuck in a rut. Now, now, it wont be easy!
Depending on your experience these licks could take days or several months (and to the many limp bizkit plunkers, never)
Well, lets get started shall we.......
Alright, these few are going to be concentrated on hybrid picking (what the hell is that?)
These, and I mean ALL OF THESE were influenced by Marshall Harrison's style of playing.
However his site seems to be down now (damn!) but you can still find some of his stuff on the web.
Lick 1: Hear it
This one is basically, a note, jump a tenth up, and repeat. The pattern I'm using here is simple on the left hand
yet difficult because of the jumps (at least for me!) The easiest way I could find is by simply fingering 1, 2, 3, 4, over
and over.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lick 2: Hear it
Very much like lick 1 but in my opinion its a little more difficult because of the string skipping in the beginning,
and because how close they are together (the pick and your picking finger) The reason I put this one up is because I use
this pattern as an alternative to playing straight scales.
Again, 1, 2, 3, 4 on the fingering!

----7---10-7---10----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--5---8---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lick 3: Hear it
This one is almost identical to Harrison's "bumble bee" However, I put it in a whole note scale,
(Monotone I think was what the scale was called) So you basically do a pattern, skip two frets and repeat,
but I did throw a little more in there than that. Well, here it is:
1st 2nd time
--24-----22-----22-----20-----20-----18-----20-----16-----22-----20-----20-----18-----18-----16-----18---14-
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You should be able to figure out the rest of the audio (it repeats the pattern 4 times total)
Good luck and some more soon to come!
I know the audio sounds crappy but all I have is an amp, and for some reason I refuse to use reverb.
I really don't know why though. So it comes out kind of "thin" which is odd, through the amps speakers
it has a great tone. Hmmmmm.
E-Mail me if any questions comments or complaints!
Ah, yes, another update so soon! Its been 2 days!
Okay, this is also difficult but its a little simpler than the above in my opinion.
This section is going to be on getting longer arpeggios,
There are two ways I know of, one is sir Harrison's "simultaneous sweep and string skip"
And the other I found, which is hard to describe so you'll just have to read the tab!
The great sir Harrison's is much like lick one here, except I changed it to a dim. lick
instead of his which was an A major. I believe the fingering is much simpler.
Okay here we go,
Lick 1:
Like I said, this is a lick from Marshall Harrison, so give your praises to him,
If your having trouble on the way down you should first see if you can do it,
The best way to do that is to practice lick#2 in this section. Till you have it down.
---------------------------------16-19-22-19-16----------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------13-16-19-------------------19-16-13------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------11-14-17-----------------------------------------17-14-11-------------
--4--7-10---------------------------------------------------------------10-7--4---
Lick 2:
This is a practice I do to help out on the above lick,
I could go from the 8 on the low E to the 12 on the high e in good timing but,
on the way down....okay...I sucked. Practice this lick and get down the right
picking pattern if you are having the same problem as I did.
--------------------------------8-10-12-10-8--------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------9-10-12-----------------12-10-9-----------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------8-10-12-------------------------------------12-10-8-------------
--8-10-12---------------------------------------------------------12-10-8---
You should be picking exactly the same in both of these licks, I use the "economy"
method its just like playing a normal three notes to a string scale!
Lick 3:
This one I found out recently is pretty much a normal sweep with a few more notes
added in, It may look hard but its very possible! This one is the easiest shape for me.
Again, the following licks are practices for getting this one down.
Okay, here it is
--17-12-------------------------------------------------12-17--
--------13-------------------------------------------13---------
------------14-----------------------------------14-------------
----------------14---------------------------14-----------------
--------------------15-12-7-3---3-7-12-15--------------------
--------------------------------5--------------------------------
Lick 4: Here is what you should practice first if the above is getting to ya.
See if you can pick it with the picking I have above each note.
(v = upstroke and ^ = equals down)
Practice this till you get it up to speed.
Then, to lick 5!
--------------------------
--------------------------
--------------------------
--v-^-v-^-v-^-v-^- v-----
--7-3-7-3---3-7-3-7-----
-----------5--------------
Lick 5:
The picking is going to be the same as the above lick,
the only thing that is different is the skips.
Once you get this down the main lick should be a lot easier!

Another update here!
Okay! a few days ago I ran into a variation of normal sweep picking arpeggios.
Basically its just an added 7th. And they're a little longer than normal sweeps.
Ok.... here we go....
Shape I. Shape II.
|--------------------------8-12---|---------------------------10-13-|
|------------------5-6-10---------|------------------6-8-12---------|
|----------------5-----------------|----------------7-----------------|
|---------2-3-7-------------------|---------3-5-9--------------------|
|-------3--------------------------|------5---------------------------|
|--1-5-----------------------------|-3-7-----------------------------|
I promise I wasn't drunk when I made these lines!!!
Shape III. Shape VI..... (I think that's a 4... isn't it?)
|-----------------------------12-15-|--------------------------------13-17--|
|-------------------8-10-13---------|---------------------10-12-15---------|
|-----------------9------------------|------------------10--------------------|
|---------5-7-10--------------------|----------7-9-12-----------------------|
|-------7----------------------------|--------8-------------------------------|
|--5-8-------------------------------|--7-10---------------------------------|
These shapes are all in Cmaj. Kinda look like a flight of stairs huh! : )
That's about it for now!
More to come!
