Chapter 19
“Nick! What are you doing here?”
“I’m happy to see you too,” laughed Nick.
“I can’t believe you’re here,” whispered Kat before kissing him until a throat was cleared.
“Oops! Hi Jane.”
“Hi Katrina.”
“Good, you are here! I’m Dana Morgan. Come in,” greeted Kat’s mother coming to the front door.
“Hi Dana. It’s nice to meet face to face. I’m Jane and this is my husband, Bob. This bunch is Aaron, BJ, Leslie, and Angel. The big lug hugging you daughter you know.”
“Hi Mrs. Morgan,” said Nick while blushing.
“Hi Nick. Well let’s get you settled into the guest house,” said Dana. Then stepping to the door she yelled, “James just pull around to the back.” Turning back to the group. “Now if you will follow me. We will cut through the house.”
As they were unloading the Carter’s luggage, Kat pulled her mother to the side asking, “Why? How? What? Who? When? Dad?”
Dana laughed, “I’ve always loved your short hand. I called the Carter’s and invited them here for New Years Eve. The how is a plane and you father picked them up at the airport. The ‘who’ are Jane and I on Christmas day, which explains the when. Now the why, because you were moping around missing that young man. I called Jane and found out he was moping too. We decided to get you two together and also meet. This gives everyone a chance to get to know each other.”
“I can’t believe Dad agreed to it.”
“Dear I can be very persuasive when I want something.”
“True Mom. I love you,” said Kat kissing her mom on the cheek.
“Because I got Nick here?”
“Because you know me so well and yes you got Nick here!”
“Yes thanks Mrs. Morgan for getting me here,” said Nick as he walked up to the two women.
“It’s my pleasure Nick and call me Dana.”
“Thanks Dana.”
“Why don’t you two go for a ride? It will give us a chance to get to know your family Nick. Also I’m sure the Wilson’s would love to see you.”
“Thanks Mom. Let’s make a quick break before you brother, sisters, or my father see us.”
Dana watched the young couple head for the barn. She then looked at Jane Carter, who gave her a conspiratorial wink. Together they set about keeping everyone busy and gave Kat and Nick a chance to get away undetected.
“Woman come see what Kat has dragged in!”
“What are you on about? Nick!!! And Kat. Come in and give me a hug,” said Mrs. Wilson.
“Hi Mama Wilson,” said Nick hugging the older woman.
“And you young lady! Why didn’t you tell us this handsome fella was coming to visit.”
“I didn’t know until I opened the door. His whole family is here.”
“Well it’s good to see you boy,” said Mr. Wilson.
Nick and Kat stayed an hour with the older couple. They then rode to the waterfall. It was cold enough to make the air nippy. They stood and watched the water tumble into the pool below. Nick was standing behind Kat with his arms wrapped around her. He inhaled her scent.
“Nick I’ve missed you so much.”
“Me too Kitten,” said Nick.
Kat giggled, “Kitten? Where did that come from?”
“Oh hush. When you are like this you remind me of a little kitten. All warm and cuddly.”
“Aww Nick, you are so sweet,” she said.
“It’s easy with you.”
Kat turned in his arms to look at him. His hair had fallen into his eyes. She brushed it away.
“Nick I care about you so much. I can’t believe you are in my life.”
“This is not an…I can’t believe I’m involved with Nick Backstreet…is it?”
“No. Now part of what shaped you into the person you are is what you do for a living. I wouldn’t trade you being a Backstreet Boy for anything. Only, because it makes you happy and it helped make you the person I care about. Does that make sense?”
“I guess.”
“Also if you said right now I don’t want to do it anymore I would say OK. I would ask what do you want to do, then I would support and help you anyway I could.”
“That’s one of the reasons I care about you. You care about me.”
They looked deep into each other’s eyes. Nick leaned down and kissed her. They kissed for several minutes, when they finally came up for air they were breathless. It was getting dark so they headed back to the house.
After grooming the horses, they walked hand in hand into the house. They were greeted by laughter once they entered the kitchen. They followed it to the family room where they found not only the rest of the Morgan and Carter clans, but also the Wilson’s and Beth. They joined the group and soon found out they had plans for New Year’s Eve. The Wilson’s decided to throw a party. They had exactly two full days to pull it together. Mama Wilson, Jane and Dana were deciding the menu. Papa Wilson had decided there would be a hay ride for the youngin’s. Bob and James were bundling up the kids to take them with Papa Wilson over to the Wilson’s to see their horses. Beth, Melissa, and BJ were discussing decorations and music they should play. A Wilson party always meant two things, plenty of food and dancing. Nick and Kat were drafted to take the three girls to the Wilson’s to look at their guesthouse where the party was to be held.
On New Years Eve, everything was ready. Nick waited for Katrina in the family room. Everyone else was already at the Wilson’s. Kat had stayed later at the Wilson’s taking pictures of everything, which put her behind in getting ready.
“Nickolas you can stop channel surfing, I am finally ready,” chuckled Kat.
“I was just look….”Nick trailed off.
“What’s wrong Nick,” asked Katrina as she looked down at her clothes.
“Nothing. You’re beautiful,” he said.
Kat smiled, “Thank you. You look very handsome. Shall we go?”
“Yep.”
As the young couple entered the Wilson’s guesthouse all heads turned. Mrs. Wilson was standing with Dana Morgan and Jane Carter. She voiced everyone’s thought.
“They are breathtaking together.”
“Yes they are,” agreed Dana as she looked at her daughter.
“They are like sun and moon,” observed Jane
Nick had fixed his blond hair the way Kat liked. It was parted off center and gelled back with a few wisps of hair falling over his forehead. His blue eyes peered out from behind his glasses. His was wearing a dark gray suit with a heather gray sweater underneath. Nick was also wearing Kat’s Christmas presents. Her grandfather’s gold wedding band was on his thumb to match the one she wore on her thumb, which was her grandmother’s wedding band. He also had on the new bracelet she had seen him looking at in Orlando. Kat’s dark, curly hair was cascading down her back her wispy bangs framing her green eyes. Her smoky makeup accentuated her features. She was wearing a white knit sweater and skirt. The sweater was long sleeved with a scooped neck and came to just the top of her skirt. The skirt hugged her hips then slightly flared from the knee to the hem. She was wearing white pumps. Around her neck and in her ears were Nick’s Christmas presents. A diamond solitaire pendent necklace and matching diamond stud earrings.
The main room had been cleared of furniture to allow for dancing. One of the bedrooms had been turned into a sitting room. The kitchen was overflowing with food and beverage. Kat introduced Nick to several of the friends gathered. Suddenly Aaron and Angel followed by several other children came running into the room.
“Nick! Kat! Come on. They are getting ready to start the hay ride!”
“Hang on airboy. I don’t think we are exactly dressed for a hayride.”
“Come on Nick. Please,” begged Angel.
Mrs. Wilson interrupted, “Kat come to the house with me. We will get blankets for everyone. You’ll need them to stay warm anyway. You all can wrap yourselves in them. Besides RJ used clean straw, which never hurt anyone.”
“True,” agreed Kat. “Nick you round up everyone who wants to go. We’ll meet you outside with the blankets.”
“Deal,” he said.
Within 15 minutes, everyone was loaded on the wagon. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson were riding up front. Nick and Kat were snuggled up in a blanket with Angel on one side and Aaron on the other. They looked at the stars and talked. Kat could truly say she was happy. Having Nick with her had become as natural as breathing. She hadn’t realized how much she had missed him until he was standing on her doorstep two days before. It scared her how strong this feeling was. She had dated and even had a serious boyfriend for a while in college. She had thought Brad was her first love, then he cheated on her. Nick was different from anyone she had ever met. He was young and goofy, but also sensitive and caring. He was very passionate and strong. Kat realized that whenever she thought about the qualities in a man she never thought about looks, but about personality. Nick had all the qualities she was looking for and to top it off he was gorgeous.
“Why are you smirking,” Nick whispered into her ear.
“I was thinking how lucky I am to have you in my life,” she whispered back.
“I feel the same way,” he agreed. They continued the ride in silence.
Once back at the guesthouse, they danced and played with the kids. Even Katrina’s father had to admit they were good together. Just before midnight horns and streamers were handed out. Papa Wilson had all the adults pair up then he explained a Wilson family tradition. It seems that after the midnight kiss you were supposed to say the first thing that popped in your head. The countdown began and at midnight the kids blew their horns and threw streamers on the adults as they kissed.
Nick and Kat ended their kiss and at the same time said, “I love you.”
Nick watched Kat closely before saying, “Kat don’t run from me now. I’m scared too. I’ve never felt this way about anyone before. I didn’t even realize it until I said it, but I’m glad I said it. I’m glad you said it too. Please trust us enough to give it a shot.”
Nick watched Kat’s face soften as she spoke, “I am scared, but I would be more afraid not to have you in my life. I trust you and that’s enough for now.”
Nick kissed her. As the music began again he pulled her out onto the screened in back porch. Their bodies swayed with the music. They were in their own little world and everything was right.
Chapter 20
“Happy New Year Brian!”
“Happy New Year Nick! So how are things going in LA?”
“I’m not in LA. We are with Kat at her parents.”
“Really? Who’s we?”
“My whole family.”
“Wait how did this happen?”
“Long story,” start Nick. He filled Brian in on everything that had been happened. “Then last night…ah Brian! She just looked so beautiful. You should have seen her.”
“Awww. My little bro is in love,” laughed Brian.
Nick said quietly, “Yeah I am and she is too.”
“Did she say it?”
“Yep we both did. What do you think Bri?”
“I think if you are both happy then I’m happy for you. So are we going to get together?”
“Yeah. What are you doing today?”
“Well Kev and his family are coming over to watch the bowl games. You all want to come over?”
“Let me check with Kat. I’ll call you back.”
“Oh Yeah! You’re a couple,” laughed Brian.
“It’s all good,” laughed Nick.
Nick did check with Katrina. They brought along Aaron. Everyone else vegged at the Morgan house. They arrived to find everyone in the Littrell living room. Along with Brian, there were Brian’s parents, brother with his family, and Brian’s girlfriend, Tonya. Kevin brought Debbie, his mom, his brother Gerald, and his brother Tim with his family. Katrina surprised them all with her grasp of football. She explained her father was a big University of Kentucky supporter. Katrina helped prepare dinner. She was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming everyone was. The guys had gone outside. Turning on the lights in the back yard they started a touch football game before the next bowl game on TV.
“What are you doing Nick,” asked Kevin. “Nevermind I see.”
Nick never took his eyes off the window where he could see Kat laughing with Brian’s mom. “I can’t help it Kev.”
“I will give you this little bro she is beautiful,” complimented Kevin.
“Yes she is. You know no one ever told her?”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
“I’m happy for you Nick. She is beautiful inside and out,” said Kevin. “Now let’s go play.”
Katrina looked out the window to see Nick looking at her. They exchanged a smile before he rejoined the game. She went back to the task of making the salad.
“That boy is completely smitten,” commented Ann Richardson.
“Yes he is. I’m glad to see it too,” agreed Jackie Littrell. “Look Ann, she’s blushing.”
“Kat if you are going to hang around the BSB family for any length of time you will get use the moms,” laughed Debbie.
“Debbie’s right,” said Tonya. “They still tease me about the first time Brian brought me home. I dropped the main course carrying it to the table.”
They all laughed and continued to share stories with Katrina. The guys came in to raid the kitchen, but the moms’ shooed them away. However, not before Nick could steal a kiss. Nick carried Aaron to the car at 11:30. Kat watched Nick as he drove. She couldn’t get over the fact that he loved her. Her heart was so full she couldn’t stop smiling. They got home and put Aaron to bed then Nick walked her to the main house. They kissed good night. It was getting harder and harder to separate, but they were not quiet ready to take the next step.
“Kat are you down here,” called Nick as he walked into the basement of the main house the next day. He saw a door open to his left.
“Yeah Nick. Come in here and I will show you what I have developed so far.”
“Cool,” replied Nick. He stepped inside and saw a row of contact sheets hanging up. “Are these the rolls you shot while out with us?”
“Yep. Here look through these and tell me what you think. I want to take the best ones and scan them on to a CD. It’s easier to store. I really need to invest in a digital camera.”
“Why didn’t you say something about it before Christmas? I’m sure you would have gotten one.”
“Nope. I buy all my own equipment. I like it that way.”
“Oh…OK. Kat these are really good.”
“Thanks. I have two more rolls to develop. Do you want to help me?”
“Sure! Just tell me what to do.”
“First you turn off the lights.”
He did as asked then said, “Now this is what I’m talkin’ about…Me and my girl alone in a dark room.”
“Carter you are too funny.”
“It’s why you love me Morgan.”
“That’s part of it.”
“Only part? What’s the rest?”
“You’ll find out sometime. Now hand me that bottle,” she said pointing to supplies on the table by him.
She walked him through the whole process. He had to admit it was fun. Nick watched her. He liked the way she puckered up her lips when she concentrated. They were washing their hands when they were done. He wrapped his arms around her from behind and pulled her to him.
“I like your hair up like this,” he said referring to the clip holding all her hair up.
“You do,” replied Kat.
“Yep. It makes it easier to do this,” he mumbled before she felt his lips on the back of her neck.
Nick felt her relax in his embrace. She wanted to turn around, but he stopped her. He continued to kiss her neck working from one side to the other. Kat’s hands were resting on his arms. She gripped his arms when Nick’s teeth lightly scrapped the point where her neck met her shoulder. He moved to her ear causing her to reach up with one hand and tangle her fingers in his hair as her breathing sped up. Nick began to rub her stomach through her T-shirt. A soft moan escaped her lips, which went straight through Nick. He wasn’t sure how she would react, but he slid his hands up to cup her breasts. He moaned against her neck at the feel of them in his hands. As he began to massage them, she turned her head and pulled his head until their lips met. His tongue slipped into her waiting mouth. She could feel his excitement against her lower back. She broke the kiss.
“Oh Nick,” she breathed.
“I know Kitten.”
“We need to stop.”
“I know,” he said
Capturing her mouth again this time he allowed her to turn around. Katrina moved both hands to the back of his head. She felt Nick’s big hands on her bottom pulling her closer to him. She was trying to remember why they should stop. The door opening helped her memory.
“Kat they sent me to get you for din…oops,” finished Melissa as she quickly shut the door.
“Lissa we will be up in a minute. Tell them to start without us,” called Kat.
Through the door she heard her sister say, “Will do. Sorry guys.”
“All I have to say is I’m glad it was Lissa,” laughed Nick.
“Me too. Let’s go up,” giggled Kat as Nick kissed her one last time. “One last thing…OK two.”
Nick asked, “One?”
“One. I love what we were just doing.”
“Me too and I want us to go somewhere soon. So next time we won’t be interrupted. Now two?”
“I'm with you on that one. And two…I’m glad you are wearing baggy pants.”
Nick’s mouth dropped open for a second. He recovered as Kat walked out of the room. He followed her upstairs. She had a smirk on her face throughout dinner, which drove him crazy. He had to admit he too was grateful for his wardrobe choice.
The next day found them at the airport. Nick was flying back to Tampa. The rest of the Carters were heading to LA. Despite her best intentions Katrina cried when Nick boarded the plane. He’s flight left first. They kissed goodbye. He reminded her that they would see each other in two weeks when she met him in LA for the American Music Awards. They were up for two awards. This year they were only presenting at the AMA’s, because they were performing at the Grammy’s. As she walked with the Carters to their gate Jane pulled Katrina to the side.
“Kat I want to say something to you.”
“OK.”
“It’s nothing bad. I want to thank you for making my son happy. He has always been a loner. You understand that about him. Even though he hasn’t dated a lot, he has done enough. The girls he went out with before you wanted to party all the time. They liked being with Nick Backstreet as he calls it. They wanted to be seen with him. You are different. I think in part because you older. You are content to be with him.”
“Jane do you have any problem with me being 5 years older than Nick?”
“I will admit when he first told me about you I had visions of you mothering him or being really immature. However once I met you I knew you were neither of those. Also it was clear you weren’t caught up in the celebrity. When I see you two together, I just see love and that makes me happy.”
“I do love your son. I don’t know where we are going and it scares me, but I can’t imagine not having him in my life.”
“Kat the only advice I can give you is follow your heart. Now I have to go catch a plane. Tell your mother again how much we appreciate her opening her home to us. This summer we are expecting all of you to come out and stay with us.”
“Will do. Thanks for talking to me Jane.”
“Anytime.”
They joined Bob and the kids just as the boarding announcement was made. They all hugged Kat goodbye and boarded the plane. Kat got in her car and headed for home. Kat began to cry, because she missed Nick. She also realized that where she was going no longer felt like home. Now when Kat thought of home Nick’s face came to mind. Katrina consoled herself with the knowledge that she would be with Nick in two weeks.
Chapter 21
“I don’t believe it,” exclaimed Kevin.
“What,” asked Brian as he walked in Nick’s hotel room from his adjoining room.
“I beat Nick.”
“Don’t rub it in,” grumbled Nick.
“I think someone has something important on his mind,” teased Brian.
Kevin laughed, “And I think that something is a certain woman.”
“Me too. Have you seen her,” asked Brian. “5’7”, long curly brown hair, green eyes and named Kat.”
“And I wondered why my ears were burning,” giggled Kat. They hadn’t heard the door open.
“Kat,” exclaimed Nick.
He jumped up from the floor and got to her in almost one leap. Wrapping his arms around her, he kissed her.
“Hi Nick,” said Katrina breaking the kiss. “Hi guys.”
“Hey Kat,” responded the cousins.
“How are y…” started Kat, but Nick’s lips on hers prevented more being said.
“Kev, I think this is our cue to leave.”
“B, I think you’re right. You two have fun. We will keep everyone out of your hair. Nick don’t forget we leave in an hour.”
Nick stopped kissing Kat long enough to say, “Get out!”
Kat giggled as Brian pushed Kevin into his adjoining room and shut the door. Nick smiled before kissing her again. She tangled her fingers in his hair as he pulled her closer. She enjoyed the feel of being in his arms again. She pulled back and brushed the hair out his blue eyes. They silently stared at each other. Nick leaned down and rubbed noses before gently kissing Kat.
“I’m glad you’re here,” he said inhaling her scent.
“Me too. So you leave for rehearsal in an hour?”
“Yeah. Come with me.”
“You don’t have to ask me twice,” she said as she hugged him closer, resting her head on his shoulder. “I’ve missed you so much. I’m not ready to let you out of my sight just yet.”
“Good…mmmm,” moaned Nick.
Kat was placing small kisses on his neck. She started to nibble his ear. His hands moved up and down her back before settling in her hair. She kissed her way to the other ear where she nibbled again. Nick’s breathing was speeding up, as was his heart. She stopped. Their eyes locked again. Kat kissed Nick letting her tongue explore his mouth. Nick started walking backwards to the bed. He sat down not breaking the kiss and Kat sat straddle of him. He kissed from her mouth down to her collarbone. His mouth trailed kisses on to her shoulder stopping only when the shirt she was wearing would allow him to go no further. He then kissed across to the other shoulder. He liked the little sighs escaping her lips.
Looking at her, he whispered, “Kitten I want to see more of you. Is that OK.”
“Yes. As long as I get to see more of you.”
Nick smiled then planted a short, sweet kiss on her lips. He pulled the bottom of her shirt from the waist of her jeans and lifted it over her head. She was wearing a white lacy bra. She heard his intake of breath and looked at him questioning.
He simply said, “beautiful.”
Kat smiled and tugged on his T-shirt. He lifted his arms and she pulled it over his head. Kat ran her hands over his chest and stomach. Taking her index finger, she traced his collarbone. Leaning down she kissed at the base of his neck in the center. Sitting back up she watched as he traced the top of her breasts with the backs of his fingers. He kissed where his fingers had been while he undid the bra and removed it. His gaze swept over her. She was more beautiful than he remembered from the first night that he saw her. He cupped each breast in his hands, rubbing the nipples with his thumbs. He looked at her face. She was biting her bottom lip while she watched him. He leaned forward still watching as he took a nipple in his mouth. She moaned as she arched into him. He gently sucked then moved to the other nipple. Kat’s body and mind were exploding. The feel of his mouth against her was so powerful. She couldn’t get close enough to him. He felt the same way. He wanted to taste her mouth again. He pulled her face to his. This kiss had urgency to it. As they continued to kiss, there was a knock at the door. They froze until they heard Brian’s voice.
“I hate to do this you two, but we have 15 minutes to get downstairs and into the van. I thought you might want sometime to get ready.”
“Thanks Bri,” called Nick. He looked at Kat and groaned. “I don’t want to go.”
“I know, but there is time for this. We are going away after tomorrow night for two weeks.”
“True, two weeks of just you and me…together…alone.”
“Yes so let's get ready. Hand me my clothes,” she requested.
“Wait,” Nick said. She watched him again cup her breast and tenderly kiss them.
“Mmmmm…Nick stop or you will be late.”
Nick sighed. “OK. I’m going to put cold water on my face and ice down my pants.”
“Nick,” she laughed. “Just go get ready.”
She shifted to sit on the bed. With a grumble, Nick went into the bathroom. When he came out, she was dressed and tossed his shirt to him. They walked down to the van hand in hand. Kat sat between AJ and Nick. AJ whispered that she had a nice blush to her face and she should keep doing whatever it was that put it there. She chuckled. Nick gave her a questioning look, but she just whispered she would tell him later.
She sat in the audience and watched the Boys rehearse their part in the show. They were presenting with Shania Twain. Kat had brought her camera along and was taking pictures of everything going on.
After rehearsal, they headed back to the hotel to get ready for a party hosted by Bad Boy Records owner, Puff Daddy. Kat was happy to see Debbie, Tonya, and Connie when they left for the party. AJ had brought a new girl with him. She was a model bored with the world. She liked AJ and had her agent call him to arrange a date. Since he was dateless he invited her to join him for the evening. They climbed into the limo and headed to the Beverly. The press and fans were out in full force when they arrived. Nick stepped out of the car and reached for Kat. Because she was new to all the attention and blinding flashes, he didn’t let go of her hand while they walked into the hotel. The guys were dressed in Prada. Again Nick and Kat compliment and contrasted each other perfectly. He suite was a light gray with a paler shade of gray shirt. His hair was not slicked back. Connie had pulled Katrina’s hair up into a french-twist. Her long sheath dress with tiny straps was a pale pink. This was their first public appearance as a couple. The press was definitely curious as to her identity. They were even more intrigued because she carried a camera with her.
As they mingled, Nick introduced her. When he introduced her to Puff Daddy he asked why she had a camera. Kat explained she was a photographer and took her camera most places where she might get interesting pictures. She went on to say that she would never use any pictures that were embarrassing or without the person’s permission. Puffy told her to feel free to shoot the party and he would like to see them when they were developed. Nick was pulled over to a corner to be interviewed with the rest of BSB by MTV. Kat wandered and took pictures. At midnight, Nick and Kat said their good-byes. The limo dropped them off at their hotel and went back to wait for the others. Kat rested against Nick in the elevator. She was tired. To her body it was 3 am. Nick guided her to their room. She grabbed her boxers and T-shirt heading for the bathroom. She came out of the bathroom with a fresh scrubbed face. Nick was propped up on the bed in his boxer-briefs. He was watching a report on the AMA’s. He looked up and saw her taking her hair down. He patted the bed between his legs. Kat sat down. Nick began taking her hair down. He then ran his fingers through her curls. Kat sighed and leaned back against him. He kissed her hair as they snuggled down and watched the TV. Kat drifted off to sleep. Nick was able to lay her down without waking her then laid down behind her. He fell asleep with her in his arms.
The next day was a blur of activity. The boys, as a present, booked the girls for a morning at a spa, while they did interviews. They met for a late lunch in the hotel restaurant before getting ready for the awards.
Nick came out of the bathroom tying his tie. He looked at Kat and stopped dead in his tracks. Nick’s eyes started at her feet and moved up slowly. Her dress for the evening was a very form fitting long black dress with a slit up the right side stopping just above the knee. Through the slit he could see her strappy heels. The waist and sleeves were sheer. The high collar was the perfect background for the diamond solitaire necklace he had given her. The cut of the dress accentuated her curves. Her hair was pulled up on the sides. The diamond stud earrings, his other Christmas present, sparkled in her ears. Her make up was slightly more dramatic. Her eyes were done in charcoal and silver. Her lips were colored a cherry red. She was smirking at him.
“What?”
“Nothing was waiting for you to get your eyes full. I take it you like the way I look tonight.”
“Oh yeah.”
“I’m glad. Now it’s my turn.”
She walked around him. While behind him, she pretended to straighten his shirt. As she walked to face him, she let her hand move over his butt. His eyes got wide at her boldness. She giggled and asked him to put on the jacket. The Boys were wearing Armani for the evening. She straightened his tie and told him he was gorgeous as always. Grabbing her wrap they went to meet the others. She left her camera at the hotel. This evening was all about supporting the man she loved.
Kat couldn’t help being in awe of the situation. She had always watched award shows and now she was at one walking down the red carpet. They took their seats behind Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith. She ignored the camera when it was on them. A runner came and got the guys when it was time to present. Kat watched Nick walk out on stage and present. He looked so handsome it took her breath away. The first award they were up for, best pop/rock group was up right after they presented. They won and came from back stage. They thanked everyone and were then whisked away. During a commercial break Kat went with Tonya to the bathroom, when they returned the guys were back. Kat held Nick’s hand when the nominations for best pop/rock album were read. Garth Brooks and Jennifer Lopez were presenting the award. Jennifer opened the envelope and read their name. Every one jumped up. Nick hugged Kat and kissed her. They walked up on stage for the second time to collect an award. Afterwards, the girls met them outside the media rooms. It was now party time. The guys were floating. They were so happy to have won. They hit several parties that night. Kat and Nick didn’t care where they went as long as they were together. At 3 am, they returned to the hotel. Everyone said good night and wandered to their respective rooms.
Nick and Kat were in bed kissing. They were both tired. They talked for a bit before drifting off to sleep. They talked about their trip to the Keys. They were leaving that afternoon. They knew this time alone together was going to be a turning point in their relationship and felt good about it.
