  • Before joining the Dodgers, Campanella was a star for the Negro League Baltimore Elite Giants. He was named to Negro League All Star teams three times.

  • Appeared in 5 World Series, including Brooklyn's first win in 1955.

  • Was paralyzed in a car accident after the 1957 season. 93,103 fans showed up at Los Angeles Coliseum in 1959 to pay tribute to Roy Campanella, the largest crowd to ever attend a baseball game.
