BROADWAY ON ICE: Page Four

ACT TWO

After a 15-minute intermission break (and resurfacing the ice with a mini-Zamboni), it was on to the next act.

A Russian pairs team (for the life of me, I never got their names) did a wonderful job in acting out "Carmine Burana" and "Music of the Night" from Phantom Of The Opera........and I was so moved seeing it the third time, I started crying.

That was followed by Eric Hamelin, another local musician who showed he could play the piano really well! Among the songs he played were "Rhapsody In Blue"....with seven of the skaters coming out in blue costumes and staying in time and step with the music. Neat!

Eric was then joined by Maggie and Meno/Sand with Maggie singing "Our Love Is Here To Stay" while M/S skated another excellent routine..........including one where they did a death spiral follwed by Jenni hanging on to Todd while being swung around like a centrifuge ship. And they do know something about gravity.

After a few more love songs involving a "love triangle" between two men and a lady......Meno and Sand came back out and spoke briefly to the crowd about skating in this show with Roz, Maggie, Eric and the other skaters. And Jenni added, "Give My Regards To Broadway!"

After their routine, two female skaters did a humorous routine in which each tried to outdo the other......and nearly suceeding in the end.

...Roz re-entered the picture by bumping both of them out of the way...
....and skated to a "hot" number.....
...complete with her red sexy costume!

Then Roz did a quick change from red costume to white dress.....and did a "Fred and Ginger" routine...complete with a dance routine with her male partner. Oh, Roz had her hair down for this routine! And SHE DID look like Ginger Rogers!

The final routines were also wonderful.....covering from "I Love A Parade", "Don't Rain On My Parade", and "Yankee Doodle Dandy"....

....and closing with one final solo by Roz with the guys.

The close was anticlimatic......and the entire cast received a standing ovation from the audience! Very much warm and well received.

AFTER-SHOW COMMENTS

With the audience clearing out of the theatre, I figured that I better try to get the email messages I had for Roz back to her.....along with a few poster signs I had made saluting her.....including one of her skating at Reunion Arena in the opening segment of the 1998-99 SOI tour. BUT HOW?

I tracked down an usher by the name of Jeff and explained to him my situation.....and he agreed to get the items back to her. He then located the general manager of the Moon River Theatre, a wonderful lady by the name of Michelle Coleman, and made sure the items got back to Roz.

But Roz didn't come out of the dressing room immediately......instead she was in a bit of a hurry to head out to dinner with a few cast members.

After waiting outside the theatre for 15 minutes after the show ended.......it was quiet. A couple of the ensembled cast members came out and I thanked them for a good show.....then asked if Roz had left.

One of them said, "Yes, she had."

Feeling a little bit depressed, I quietly drove back to the hotel with the radio off. After I got back to my room, I kept the television set off and, getting ready to go to bed, told myself that God would work this situation out.....and just let the chips fall where they may.

I also prayed to the Lord about the situation....and told Him whatever happened that He would get the glory. That's what I prayed for before drifting off to sleep.

So I decided that I would spring for tickets for the Tuesday matinee show......in hopes of lightning striking again......but with no real guarantee that I would meet Roz in person.
