BESSIE BEATY, 91, a retired school teacher, died
on Feb. 26, 1997 in Eastland, TX, with burial in
Murray Cemetery in Carbon, TX.
Mrs. Beaty was born on Feb. 13, 1906 at Rock Bluff,
TX and grew up and went to school in Carbon. She
attended Tarleton College and graduated from Daniel
Baker College with a bachelor's degree and from Hardin-
Simmons University with a master's degree. She began
teaching in 1924 and taught in Eastland County for 45
years. She also taught adult education for 10 years.
She had lived in Eastland since 1970 and was a member
of First United Methodist Church. She married John
Beaty in Dec. of 1925 in Eastland; he preceded her
in death.
Survivors at the time of her death include two daughters,
Ruth Hallmark of Eastland and Carolyn Beaty Hines (RHS-
1962) of Stuart, NE; two grandsons, Robert Hallmark &
Tony Wood, one granddaughter, Davina Douglas, and seven
great-grand-children.
