Richard McCarson RICHARD VON McCARSON, 75, was called home to be with the Lord on Nov. 22, 2022, with burial in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at San Antonio. He was the youngest of two children. He is preceded in death by his father, Max, his mother, Jo, and his sister, Pat. Richard graduated from Beaumont French High School in 1965. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1967 and was sent overseas on Christmas Eve of the same year. He dutifully served his country for four years during the Vietnam War. Upon his return home, Richard earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Angelo State University. A lifelong educator, Richard spent the majority of his career serving as a high school principal across Texas. Affectionately nicknamed "Mr. Mac" by students, Richard was a principal for El Dorado ISD, Brenham ISD, Junction ISD, Ranger ISD, Chapel Hill ISD, and Rockport ISD. He finished his career working as an assistant principal for Judson ISD. Richard married and divorced twice. He was a loving father to his two children: a daughter, Jennifer Kipping, and a son, Kelsey McCarson (RHS-1997). He is survived by his children, their spouses, Jerry Kipping & Rachel McCarson, and his granddaughter Natalie Kipping. Richard was well-liked and respected. He loved God, his country, & the great state of Texas. He especially enjoyed West Texas, where he loved to drink cold beer, hunt, fish, and carouse with his many friends.
