FAXIE VASHTI "VEE: BASKIN YONKER, 73, died on March 9,
1989 in San Antonio, TX. She was born on April 14,
1915 to Henry Leroy & Myrtle Louise Baskin. She
attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1930 at
Ranger, TX & married her high school sweetheart Fred
Yonker (RHS-1932). They they had a daughter, Barbara
Jane Henk who lives in San Antonio, & a son, Frederick
Godfrey Yonker, VII. She was the older sister of twins;
M.L. Baskin and H.L. Baskin, Jr. (RHS-1939). A baby
sister, Vita Maurice Baskin, only lived 4 months. Vashti
was a graduate of Kingsville A&I, an outstanding high
school speech and English teacher for 35 years, at
directing senior & interscholastic league plays. Many
of her students became teachers, a tribute to her and
example. Fred and her were lifetime Texans, happily
married until his untimely death in 1963. Her sister
was Jeanette Yonker (RHS-1929).
