This course provides an overview of Integrated Information Systems. Specific emphasis is given to the use of information systems for competitive advantage.

With Windows 2000 as an example, the course examines relevant technical issues including O/S installation, configuration, administration, and security.

The course then studies how these technical issues interact with organizational structures and processes.  Associated issues include the different types of informational resources used at different organizational levels. It also examines the relationships between organizational structure and information system architecture.

The use of transaction processing systems, data base systems, and decision support systems are all studied.

Organizational and informational system planning methodologies are also studied. The System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and its alternatives are reviewed. The course closes with an examination of system security.

The course is supplemented with outside readings, case studies, and, where appropriate, panel discussions.
