Now we've gotten word that Mario isn't drumming for Smashmouth on their current tour (fall 1999). A few people have gone to recent Smashmouth concerts and haven't seen Mario drumming. I'm not sure what happened, but so far, no Mario.

Mario Update: Mario was seen drumming for Liz Phair once again. This time it was during her performance at Lilith Fair in Seattle. Check out Lilith Fair Concert Dates to see if Liz is performing. Who knows, you might see Mario there too, behind the drums!

The episode of Celebrity Death Match featuring Jakob and Bob Dylan aired Thursday, July 8th, 1999, at 10PM Eastern Time on MTV. If you missed it, this episode will probably be repeated frequently - just check MTV's Website for program listings. Here is a clip of what they looked like on CDM.

The latest from the Rami Lounge is that Michael Penn has been producing the latest studio work by the Wallflowers for their new album. You'll remember that Penn sang backup on "Angel On My Bike" from BDTH

The Wallflowers are going into the studio this week (May 16, 1999), to work diligently on their new album. I got this info off the Michael Ward Website, which was recently updated. Check it out - awesome site!



The Wallflower's song "Used To Be Lucky" will be one of the songs on the No Boundaries Album, a record to benefit the refugees of Kosovo. The album will be released June 15, 1999, and will also feature rare, live, and unreleased tracks by other artists such as Pearl Jam, Neil Young, Korn, Alanis Morissette, Tori Amos, Rage Against the Machine, Oasis, and more!

BDTH is listed as one of the "Essential Albums of the Decade" in the May 11, 1999, issue of Rolling Stone (with Kurt Cobain on the cover). A picture of Jake is also included with the article

Mario is drumming for Liz Phair on the current leg of her tour. He was recently seen playing at her Washington D.C. show.

The Coolest Drummer Contest is now over. Mario came in 2nd! Congrats!

Another article on the Wallflower's upcoming album is here. This article says that two of the songs on the upcoming album are called "Eat You Sleeping" and "Hand Me Down". And according to producer Julian Raymond, "[The new material] definitely has a lot more attitude as far as edge goes."

From the January 22 issue of Entertainment Weekly: The release date of the new Wallflower's album should be sometime this summer. The guys have spent the last few months in L.A. recording the album, and they're deciding on the last few songs for the album. They have been working with producer Julian Raymond(Fastball)!



Well, the Wallflowers didn't win a Grammy, and they weren't in attendance at the Grammys either. Still, a big congrats on their nominatation ... and wait till next year ... I'm predicting a sweep!

Bad news for TX Wallflower Fans. Apparently there is no concert planned this year for Rock For the Roses. So, there is no possible Wallflowers concert in Austin in May. *sob, sob* Check out Ride For the Roses information here.

For those who missed it, the "Saturday Night Live" episode with the Wallflowers as musical guests was aired on January 12 on Comedy Central. Keep a lookout for repeats!!

THE WALLFLOWERS HAVE BEEN NOMINATED FOR A GRAMMY!!
They have been nominated for "Heroes" in the category Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal. The 1999 Grammy Awards ceremony will be held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Wednesday, February 24th. More nominees here.

In a recent interview, Greg, Mario, and Rami mentioned that even though they haven't found a producer yet, the new Wallflowers album will hopefully be finished by the end of this year and should be released by Spring of 1999! Mark you calendars!!!

Greg, Mario, and Rami were in San Francisco recently backing up friend Joe Henry for a couple of shows at the Noe Valley Ministry. Greg and Rami can be heard on the track "Fat" on Joe's next album.



July 1998's issue of Guitar Magazine has both the guitar and bass tabs of "Heroes." So if your interested you might want to check it out. A word of caution, there aren't any pics this time. Sorry!!

If you missed FANatic last night you really missed something! Although I, Vanessa didn't see it, I was able to get some details about the interview. Mario said that he considers himself thin, Rami funny, Mike fast, Jake witty, and Greg solid! He also went on to say that he would like to play with Shaq!

Greg is going to tour with Fiona Apple for her new album rumored to be called "Corrupt"

Well, the guys played among other bands in Milwakee. None of the bands charged for their performance. Jakob is said to have said that the whole gig was like a warm up for them to help them prepare for the Pearl Jam concert



MARIO is on the June '98 issue of Modern Drummer!! I'm definately going out to get this one!!

BRINGING DOWN THE HORSE HAS GONE TO 5 MILLION AS OF JUNE 3RD, 1998!!!!!

The guys are participating in the 6th Annual Weenie Roast. This is in Southern California and the radio station involved is KROQ 106.7. It's been said that the concert will be aired through this radio station and through MTV so stay tuned for details!! The concert is to be set up at the Irvine Meadows Amplitheater on June 20. Tickets were said to have sold out within 9 min. but some are still being given away by KROQ 106.7. Among The Wallflowers are bands like Fastball, Everclear, Blink 182 (thanks for the correction Raven), Save Ferris and more! This concert benefits AIDS walk Orange County and other charities.

Well the person for the new MTV show called FANatic was chosen and her name is Marisa. She already did the interview and everything!! I know, I know sorry to disappoint you all!!!

Yes the 3rd album is due early '99!! It was mentioned on Michael Ward's homepage which was just updated.

Thanks to Mju83 who e-mailed me Vanessa. I know about this MTV top 25 countdown done over the most influential bands of the '90s. Well guess what?!! "One Headlight" made it to the #23 spot!!! Isn't that so awesome?? Once again thanks Mju83 for the info!!

The Wallflowers performed at the MTV Movie Awards!! And guess what song they played?? Yes, "Heroes"!! The show aired on June 4th, 1998 at 9:00 EDT/PDT.



The Wallflowers were featured on "In Concert" Friday, May 29th, 1998 on ABC) It was only a half hour long, and all they did was show videos. (It was not a concert)

Mario does an interview this month (May 1998) where he confirms the fact that they haven't started recording the album but says they are going to do so in about 6 to 8 weeks!!
