This video was shot over 2 days in an L.A. studio

The Wallflowers recorded this song especially for the soundtrack of 1998's Godzilla

Jakob Dylan, born: December 9, 1970, place: Los Angeles, CA

Jakob is the youngest son of folk legend Bob Dylan

Minya is the son of legendary monster Godzilla

Jakob was a shy child - he once got an "F" for refusing to speak in class

wallflower (n): a shy or uncommunicative person

Cast the night before the shoot (arrow pointing to the girl in the red sweatshirt)

Jakob was confused by her presence - he thought she was "wandering" across the set

"Heroes" was written and recorded by David Bowie in 1977

Bowie wrote another song in 1971 about one of this heroes - "Song for Bob Dylan"

53% fo U.S. children say their parents are their "heroes"

Who does Jakob say is his "hero"?

The Clash

Jakob saw his heroes perform as a teen - he called it "the high point" of his life

These scenes do not appear in Godzilla - they were shot for "promotional purposes"

The bass player stayed 3 hrs. later than the rest of the band to shoot one scene
(arrow pointing the part when Greg ducks as Godzilla's tail smashes through the apartment window)

The director's message in this video: "Real heroes get on with their lives despite chaos"

Jakob's message: "Not even Godzilla can stop a Wallflowers rehearsal"

Godzilla's original name was Gojira - combining Japanese words for whale and gorilla

Japanese for Jakob: (Jakob's name is written in Japanese)

The Wallflowers played their first show at L.A.'s Canter's Deli in 1990

Canter's Deli is an actual delicatessen - bands perform in the back room

The Wallflowers can't be heroes - Canter's doesn't name sandwiches after celebrities

NYC's Stage Deli does - it serves more than 20 celebrity heroes.

(a picture of different sandwiches appear with these names under them)
Bob Dylan was made a hero - but his sandwich was renamed the Matthew Broderick in 1991

Godzilla was made a hero in 1995 - Tokyo erected a monument in his honor

What legendary American was never made a hero - but was made a fruit salad?

Godzilla was the band's #2 choice for a "co-star" - they originally wanted their music to appear in a sequel for Free Willy. Jakob fantasized he was the hero of a big, summer blockbuster during the shoot - Die Hard 5.
