Dooley & Sons Hot Rod Shop Renews
SHRA Nostalgia Eliminator Shootout Sponsorship
12/12/16 - The SHRA is proud to announce Dooley & Sons Hot Rod Shop will return as title sponsor of the Alky Digger Nostalgia Eliminator 1-2-3 Shootouts! "What a great program to reward racers for their hard work throughout the year," stated Jeff Cameron of Dooley and Sons. Jeff went on to say, "Being a racer myself and seeing the challenge and drama the Shootout brings to SHRA Nostalgia Eliminator racing, I wanted to see this program continue and I wanted to get involved and support the continued growth of the SHRA".
Here's how the Shootout works – Nostalgia Eliminator drivers will be awarded points based on their final qualifying position at each event this season. The number 1 qualifier will receive 16 points, the number 16 qualifier receives 1 point. After the next to last race of the season, the field will be set and will include the top 8 points earners in each Nostalgia Eliminator class. Eight cars from each of the three classes will be paired on a sportsman ladder at the SHRA Championship Finals. The all-important first round of eliminations for all three shootouts presented by Dooley & Sons will be held during the first qualifying session. The two quickest winners, without going under their respective index, will advance to the final round to be run in the second qualifying session. The winner will take home $500! In 2016, Tera Graves, Stephen Hansen and Doug Morrison claimed victory in their respective class.
Dooley & Sons Hot Rod Shop is a premier custom hot rod and restoration company based in Magnolia, Texas. Dooley Cameron started the shop in 1961 in Levelland, Texas as a one man shop. Five decades later with a move to Magnolia, sons Jeff and Tom work at the shop and it has grown beyond their wildest dreams. Today the facility is stretched out over 15 acres, a 20,000 square-foot facility houses custom sheet metal fabrication, upholstery, chassis fabrication, paint and body, exhaust fabrication, and final assembly departments are all under one roof. This arrangement enables the shop to maintain stringent quality control standards by closely monitoring each car through every phase of the build. During the construction phase, project cars can easily move between each department to undergo minor design changes as necessary, resulting in a remarkably well-integrated package from top to bottom. They do it all, from custom engines, expert CAD engineering, award winning interiors, show quality paint and body, metal fab, custom chassis construction – there is nothing that Dooley and Sons can’t do when it comes to making top flight award winning cars! SHRA Celebrates Bee Godwin
with Capacity Crowd at Wichita Falls
The MalloryPrint.com SHRA racing community came together in fine form at Wichita Raceway Park to celebrate the life of Bee Godwin, who we lost this past April. WRP was Godwin's home track where he had made hundreds if not thousands of runs and also served as track manager. Friends and family of Bee came in from multiple states to be a part of this special race weekend and the support from racers and fans was immense. 126 racers overflowed the pit area which set a new attendance record for the SHRA series. Among those, a series record 16 cars were entered in AlkyDigger Nostalgia Eliminator 3 competition. This event, held Saturday, September 10th, was presented by Don Hardy Racecars & Hot Rod Shop.
It was a fantastic evening of racing as the SHRA community raced in memory of Bee Godwin. Bee's wife Sharon returned to racing action for the first time this weekend and despite a first round red light, Sharon and family had a memorable weekend that will never be forgotten. The SHRA Championship Finals, presented by Meyer Enterprises, will be contested on Saturday, October 1st at North Star Dragway in Denton, Texas. All six SHRA classes are on the bill and action will intensify with the Dooley & Sons Nostalgia Eliminator Shootout which will be held during qualifying. This race within a race offers a $500 winning purse and features the top eight best qualifiers of the season in all three AlkyDigger Nostalgia Eliminator classes. A huge evening of nostalgia drag racing action is on tap at the final event and six Champions will be crowned, we'll see you at the drags!

SHRA Races in Memory of Ron Muncy
at Texas Raceway Longhorn Nationals
The Southwest Heritage Racing Association, presented by MalloryPrint.com, made it's first appearance at Texas Raceway for the Longhorn Nostalgia Nationals in Kennedale, Texas. This event was presented by Lone Star Forklift and held Saturday, August 27th. All six SHRA classes were in action and with only three races left, points battles were heating up under hot conditions on this late summer afternoon.
Friday night before the event, the racing community suffered a major loss in the life of Ron Muncy, who was involved in a test and tune incident. Muncy was an active supporter of the SHRA and is the only driver in series history to participate in all three of the Nostalgia Eliminator classes. Muncy wheeled his injected yellow altered in NE 3 winning at Little River Dragway in 2013. In 2014 he joined teammate Steve Dunkin in the NE 1 class driving the injected "Foolish Pleasure" slingshot dragster. In 2015, Muncy ran both NE 1 and NE 2 before committing to NE 2 in 2016 driving another injected altered. Of course, at the age of 77, the drag racing career of Ron Muncy spanned decades before SHRA existed and many wins and successes along the way. The SHRA staff and racers would like to send their sincere condolences to the Muncy family. The event at Texas Raceway was dedicated in memoriam to our friend, Ron Muncy.

Winners Crowned at Spring Nostalgia Nationals
The second event of the MalloryPrint.com SHRA nostalgia drag racing series was held at North Star Dragway in Denton, Texas on Saturday, May 7th. This event was presented by Stroud Safety. With the pit area at maximum capacity and over 100 cars participating in SHRA class action, the stage was set for a spectacular day of old school drag racing. All six series classes were contested but before racing got underway, the SHRA community joined together on the starting line after the drivers meeting to pay tribute to our fallen friend and fellow racer, Bee Godwin.
Rick Taylor's "Nitro Monkey" and Thomas Hixson's "One Wild Ride" fired up their NE 2 front engine dragsters and laid down long smoky burnouts as SHRA racers gathered on the starting line joined by Sharon and Lisa Godwin, Bee's wife and daughter. The cars crept slowly into the beams in an emotional moment and at the flash of the amber lights, the cars idled down the track side by side with a mixture of cheers and tears from the huge crowd on the starting line. We will never forget our friend Bee Godwin, he was a crucial part of the development of the series and friend to so many in the drag racing community, he will be racing with us forever in our hearts.

If the most recent winner isn't in attendance at the next event, the bounty will be placed on the top qualifier of the current race for that event.
Going into the first SHRA event of 2016, the winner of the last event of 2015 Andy Mears will arrive at Temple with the Bounty on him! The first racer who defeats him at Temple in eliminations will receive $100. If he goes on to win the Temple race, Andy will receive $100 for winning two events in a row, AND the Bounty to defeat him at the next event in Denton will increase to $200!

MalloryPrint.com Returns as Title Sponsor of SHRA's Fourth Season!
2/8/16 - The Southwest Heritage Racing Association (SHRA) is proud to announce the return of series sponsor Mallory Screenprint & Embroidery for the 2016 racing season. MalloryPrint.com owner Al Mallory says the commitment to renew his contract as series sponsor for the fourth consecutive season was easy with the success and growth of the nostalgia drag racing series that began in 2013.
"The SHRA has grown in just a short few years to be the biggest grassroots series for nostalgia drag racers and fans in the southwest,” said Mallory. “It's affordable and most importantly fun and that goes a long way in today's environment. Mallory Screenprint and Embroidery is proud to continue to support the SHRA as the series continues to pick up more racers and fans in 2016" said Mallory.
Chris Graves, SHRA President shares Mallory’s optimism. "The racers, fans and other sponsors of the SHRA are extremely proud to resign MalloryPrint.com as the series sponsor, now for the fourth year in a row”. Graves goes on to state “This says a lot about our race series, to be able to have the commitment of Mallory Screenprint and Embroidery since the first race the SHRA held in April of 2013 when we didn’t know if racers, fans and sponsors would support the SHRA idea, but we all know now just how much support and growth the SHRA has seen in that time span and it's incredible! We had almost 250 different racers participate in the 2015 season and expect to push that to 300+ this year!”

SHRA Welcomes Dooley & Sons Hot Rod Shop as Alkydigger Nostalgia Eliminator Shootout Sponsor
2/2/16 - The Southwest Heritage Racing Association (SHRA) is proud to announce that in 2016, the Alkydigger.com Nostlagia Eliminator Shootout will be presented by Dooley & Sons Hot Rod Shop of Magnolia, TX.
In 2014, the SHRA Nostalgia Eliminator Shootouts were introduced. For the racers in those classes, it is a battle all year to get in the elite top eight that qualifies them to compete for the big cash at the SHRA Finals! Dooley and Sons Hot Rods recognizes the success of that program and has elected to fund it in 2016. "What a great program to reward racers for their hard work throughout the year” stated Jeff Cameron of Dooley and Sons. Jeff went on to say, “Being a racer myself and seeing the challenge and drama the Shootout brings to SHRA Nostalgia Eliminator racing, I wanted to see this program continue and I wanted to get involved and support the continued growth of the SHRA”.
SHRA Marketing Director David Graves added, “The SHRA is fortunate to attract such an outstanding company as Dooley & Sons as a supporter, and as racers they definitely built and bring one of the most beautiful cars to SHRA racing”. Graves continued, “This shootout program for our NE class racers is a fun one, and all the NE racers of the SHRA will be adding up those 'little points' from their qualifying efforts during the year to make the top eight for the big shootout that will take place during qualifying at the SHRA Finals in Denton on October 1st!”
Here's how the Shootout works – Nostalgia Eliminator drivers will be awarded points based on their final qualifying position at each event this season. The number 1 qualifier will receive 16 points, the number 16 qualifier receives 1 point. After the September 10th event in Wichita Falls, the field will be set and will include the top 8 points earners from the first seven events of the year in each Nostalgia Eliminator class. Eight cars from each of the three classes will be paired on a sportsman ladder at the SHRA Finals at North Star Dragway. The all-important first round of eliminations for all three shootouts presented by Dooley & Sons will be held during the first qualifying session at the SHRA Finals. The two quickest winners, without going under their respective index, will advance to the final round to be run in the second qualifying session. The winner will take home $500!
2015 Shootout Champs Tera W Graves (NE1), Joel Kelton (NE2) and Dusty Rose (NE3) will all be gunning to repeat in 2016! But first they have to 'qualify' for the field and their first opportunity comes on April 2nd when the SHRA kicks off the season in Temple, Texas!
SHRA Announces Alkydigger.com
Nostalgia Eliminator Class Sponsorship
1/21/16 - The Southwest Heritage Racing Association (SHRA) is proud to announce that in 2016, Alkydigger.com will be the title sponsor of the Nostalgia Eliminator classes of the SHRA. This major step for both the SHRA and Alkydigger continues an association that began in the inaugural year of the nostalgia drag series in 2013.
It was last year in 2015 that Alkydigger stepped up to become the sole sponsor of the popular Nostalgia Eliminator Shootout for the SHRA, providing a big "race within a race" at the season ending SHRA Championship Finals. Racers in each Nostalgia Eliminator class earned a place in an elite field to win big bucks in an all or nothing race during qualifying. While that concept will continue in 2016, Alkydigger has stepped up even more to support the Nostalgia Eliminator classes throughout the full year! Mike Chilando, President of Alkydigger stated, "The SHRA has put together a fantastic drag racing series for nostalgia drag racers, their fans and supporters. My involvement only makes sense as Alkydigger is the nation’s top provider of hardcore fuel injection, blowers and other engine parts for these racers." Chris Graves, SHRA Series President agrees, "Alkydigger is the go to source for any drag racer looking for only the best in new and used parts for their injected and blown applications, and his technical support and advice is second to none and FREE, making Alkydigger the choice of SHRA racers all over."
Thanks to the support of Alkydigger.com, the SHRA has increased the cash purse at each of their 8 events featuring the Nostalgia Eliminator 1, 2 and 3 classes. The winner of each race of the 8 event 2016 season in the NE1 class will take home $500, winners in the NE2 and NE3 classes will take home $400, and payouts below that will show some increases also. The Championship points fund for the Nostalgia Eliminator classes has been increased significantly for 2016 thanks to Alkydigger. The 2016 NE 2 and 3 series champs will be taking home $800, the NE 1 champ will take home $1000, this all on top of their Championship trophy provided Meyer Enterprises of Denton, Texas and their Championship leather jacket provided by MalloryPrint.com of Joshua, Texas.
Mike Chilando says Alkydigger’s mission is simple - Deliver quality new and used race and custom parts to my valued customers on time, at a reasonable price, and tell them what they need to hear, not what they may want to hear. Mike delivers on that message! Find out more about Alkydigger at their website Alkydigger.com.

Announcing The AlkyDiggers
Nostalgia Eliminator Shootout
1/21 - Mike Chilando and the staff at Alkydiggers has stepped up their support of the Southwest Heritage Racing Association by becoming the sole sponsor of the Nostalgia Eliminator SHOOTOUTS for all three NE classes in SHRA in 2015!
In 2014, the SHRA Nostalgia Eliminator SHOOTOUTS were introduced and for the racers in those classes it was a battle all year to get in the elite 8 that got to battle for the big cash at the SHRA Finals! Alkydiggers was a sponsor of the 2014 NE3 Shootout and Chilando saw the success of that program in bringing excitement and fun to the grassroots SHRA racing program and immediately stepped up for 2015 to sponsor the entire SHOOTOUT program! "What a great program to reward racers for their hard work throughout the year' say Chilando. 'Being a racer myself and seeing that Alkydiggers customers are all competing for those SHOOTOUT points all year just made sense for me to throw all my support towards this program! Best of luck to all the racers in 2015' concludes Chilando. SHRA Marketing Director David Graves states that 'It just makes sense for a company like Alkydiggers to jump at the chance to support this great SHOOTOUT program for our NE class racers, and all the NE racers of the SHRA will be adding those 'little points' during the year to qualify for the big shootout at the SHRA Finals in Denton on October 31st!' Graves adds 'We can't thank Alkydigger's enough for supporting our series this past two years, and stepping up like this in 2015 is a great indication that SHRA racing is the place for nostalgia drag racing fun!

Competition Sales of Dallas Returns
With "Luck of the Draw" Bonus Programs
1/16 - The Southwest Heritage Racing Association is proud to welcome back for a third year Competition Sales of Dallas. This year the speed shop will support the SHRA with two bonus programs.
Back for another year is the popular "Luck of the Draw" bonus program where a SHRA racer will receive a case of Brad Penn oil from a lucky tech card drawing at the each drivers meeting. Brad Penn is truly 'MADE IN THE USA' coming from American Refining Group's Bradford, PA refinery and is the home of 'The Green Oil'. Brad Penn High Performance Oils are formulated using a unique base oil which give Brad Penn exceptional film strength. This unique base oil causes Brad Penn Oil to cling tenaciously to engine parts to minimize wear during high engine torque loading and/or periods of heavily stressed operation such as those experienced in competition. This same oil cling helps prevent dry starts conditions to minimize wear even after the engine has been sitting idle for extended periods. Competition Sales is the place to go for the best oil in racing!
Additionally, Competition Sales will be supporting the Nostalgia Eliminator racers with a special SUNOCO Fuel Bonus in 2015. At each SHRA race, all qualified NE racers will receive one ticket towards a drawing at the 2015 SHRA Awards Banquet for a drum of SUNOCO alcohol racing fuel! If you attend one event in 2015, you will receive one ticket for the drawing. If you attend at all 8 Nostalgia Eliminator events, then you will have 8 tickets and of course a much better chance of winning this lucky draw bonus that will take place at the banquet. For decades, Sunoco's fuels have been associated with racing excellence. Since the mid-60s, when Sunoco and the Roger Penske Racing Team with Mark Donohue forged what would be a long and successful alliance, the company has grown into an industry powerhouse. Winning on today's racing circuit requires more than an exceptional driver and a well-built car. It takes high-performance racing fuels that are willing to go the distance - fuels like those produced by Sunoco. For all your racing fuel needs, Competition Sales of Dallas is the place to buy SUNOCO racing fuel!
Opened in 1969, Competition Sales of Dallas quickly became one of the most trusted speed shops in Dallas. With the name appearing on some of the day's fastest and most respected race cars Competition Sales became the place to buy all your race car needs. Following in the footsteps of the original Competition Sales of Dallas speed shop, they are the choice for all your race car, street car, and street rod needs. They offer everything you will ever need from simple parts to all out complete motors and machine service. As racers they understand the importance of a correct combination, not just a bunch of mail order parts.
"We are very excited to be involved with the SHRA bonus program" says Competition Sales' Bill Mitchell. "We are happy to make this our 3rd continuous year of support to nostalgia drag racing and are ready to assist in any of the SHRA teams needs to keep them fast and safe on the drag strip. Old school drag racing is our passion and we are proud to be involved with all of the racers in the SHRA." said Mitchell. To see what Competition Sales of Dallas can offer you, call 972-310-7214 or visit them online at www.competitionsalesofdallas.com.
Bullet Racing Engines, Ferry's Aluminum Repair & Viels Motorsports Announce NE 1 Bounty Bonus For 2015
1/13 - As announced at the banquet, racers in the Nostalgia Eliminator 1 class during 2015 will have a unique bonus program called the NE1 Bounty Hunter Bonus.
This program, with the support of Bullets Racing Engines, Ferry's Aluminum Repair and Viel's Motorsports will target the winner of the last SHRA event by placing a Bounty on that racer. At the next event, the racer who is the first to defeat that winner from the last event in eliminations, will receive the bounty, which will be no less than $100. If no one defeats that racer and that racer goes on to win again, they get $100 and the Bounty at the next event doubles to $200!
Going into the first SHRA event of 2015, the winner of the last event of 2014 Clay Cunningham will arrive at Temple with the Bounty on him! The first racer who defeats him at Temple in eliminations will receive $100. If he goes on to win the Temple race, Clay will receive $100 for winning two events in a row, AND the Bounty to defeat him at the next event in Denton will increase to $200!
This will really put a fun spin on the NE1 class for 2015. If you are a NE1 winner in 2015, rest assured going to the next event your fellow racers will know who you are if they line up against you! If the most recent winner isn't in attendance at the next event, the bounty will be placed on the top qualifier of the current race for that event.
A huge thanks to Bullet Racing Engines (972) 285-0182, Ferry's Aluminum Repair (972) 557-3565 and Viel's Motorsports (214) 505-9833 for their support of this new Bonus Program for the SHRA NE1 racers!

Win SHRA Finals In Denton
10/9 - The Southwest Heritage Racing Association, presented by MalloryPrint.com, held its sixth and final event of the season at North Star Dragway in Denton, Texas. With a heavy amount of afternoon rain and temperatures dipping into the upper forties behind a cold front that blew through Saturday evening, the decision was made by NSD to postpone the event to Sunday, October 6th where sunny skies and temperatures in the high 70's were expected. That forecast came true and the SHRA Finals were concluded under blue skies and great racing conditions for the teams that were able to stay for Sunday's festivities. With two class Championships still up for grabs (Nostalgia Bracket & NE 2) the pressure was on in this final event of the season to determine inaugural SHRA class Championship winners, while the rest of the racers were looking to play spoiler and earn themselves title of SHRA Finals event winner to end the season on a high note.
After a long day of racing, Wes Breiten, Bee Godwin, Ron Walden, Chris Jarvis and John Erwin were the racers taking home SHRA Finals wins in their respective classes. The SHRA would like to congratulate Steve Matthews, Bee Godwin, Doug Morrison, Bill Cogswell and John Erwin on their inaugural SHRA Class Championships! A great showing of support from racers and fans alike proved a successful season for the freshman SHRA series, presented by Mallory Screen Print & Embroidery. The winter off season will be an active one for both SHRA staffers working hard to finalize plans for next season as well as racers, as rumors were floating throughout the pits with teams planning new engine combinations and hearing from new racers eager to join the fun in 2014.

(NE 3 - Ron Walden)
A huge thank you goes out to SHRA sponsors Mallory Screen Print & Embroidery, Robinson Restoration & Service and Meyer Enterprises as well as the bonus program sponsors Good Vibrations Motorsports, Harry's Hot Rod Auto & Truck Accessories, Triple C Insurance Agency, North Texas Diesel Automotive & Performance, Competition Sales of Dallas and AlkyDigger.com. Without the support of these companies in our inaugural season, the SHRA wouldn't have been able to pay out over $20,000 in race and year end awards to the racers.

(Nost. Bracket - John Erwin)
Each champion was presented with a custom designed Championship trophy at the SHRA Finals, supplied by series sponsor Meyer Enterprises. Additional awards including a custom designed and personalized SHRA Championship jacket for each of the five class Champions, supplied by Mallory Screen Print & Embroidery, as well as plaques for the top five nostalgia eliminator teams and several other goodies will be presented at the SHRA winter gathering on December 14th, held in conjunction with the annual Texas Drag Geezers Reunion at Trail Dust Steak House in Aubrey, Texas.

Claim SHRA Summer Nationals Wins
7/13 - The Southwest Heritage Racing Association presented by MalloryPrint.com held it's fourth event of the inaugural 2013 racing season on July 6th at North Star Dragway in Denton, Texas. The SHRA series welcomed it's largest overall car count of the season to this steamy summer event as racers from all five classes came to battle the heat over the Independence Day weekend. Several new participants enjoyed a successful debut outing with the SHRA making it to the late rounds of their respective classes, while some drivers added to their season win total and points lead heading into the second half of the season.

(Sharon Godwin - Nostalgia Bracket Winner)
With the fourth of six Southwest Heritage Racing Association events in the books, Bill Cogswell left North Star Dragway with a commanding lead in Hot Rod. James Armstrong and Sharon Godwin are tied with 52 points in Nostalgia Bracket followed closely by Keith Darrow and Travis Resar who are tied for second with 51 points. The Championship battle for that class will go down on Saturday, October 5th and should be a very entertaining fight for the first Nostalgia Bracket championship in the SHRA series.

(Rob Ragland - NE 2 Winner)
The Nostalgia Eliminator classes will have a few weeks off before they head north to Ardmore Dragway on Saturday, August 31st to strut their stuff at the annual Hot Rod Reunion. Doug Morrison looks like a strong candidate for the NE 3 title but he will have to hold off Ron Muncy, Dusty Rose and Ron Walden in the final two events. Bee Godwin held his points lead in NE 2 over the Laird's family's "Rain Maker" dragster. Godwin's effort to attend all the SHRA races this season has paid off so far as he hopes to keep his position at the top by a strong showing in Ardmore. Steve Matthew's round winning streak ended but his points lead is holding strong as he looks to take home his fourth NE 1 win in August at his home track.
