GOODNIGHT SWEET FAYE

Hollywood Starlite, Alice Faye Dead
Alice Faye, sang and danced her way into our hearts in the Hollywood movies of the '30's and '40's. She got into show business as a young girl of fourteen as a churus girl; quitting school. She sang and danced in "Alexander's Ragtime Band", "Sing Baby, Sing", and in the Shirley Temple movies "Poor Little Rich Girl" and "Stowaway". She starred in "She Learned About Sailors" and "Now I'll Tell". Alice Faye had recent surgery to remove two tumors and died of cancer Sunday at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, California. Her daughters, Alice Regan and Phyllis Harris were with her when she passed away. Her famous husband, orchestra leader and singer Phil Harris, died a few years ago. They married in 194l. Her first marriage was to singer Tony Martin. When Faye married Phil Harris it was Hollywood gossip, as Phil Harris was quite the opposite. Faye made famous the tunes, "You'll Never Know", "Goodnight, My Love" and "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm".

Sweet Alice Faye
gone but not forgotten

written for: Christy Mitchell, The Beachcomber

Galveston, Texas

The stars won't be quite as bright over the Gulf of Mexico
for a few nights. They will be wiping their tears.
Such a lonely beach, it will be.
Only two ghostly souls will be walking there.
Beachcomber Christy Mitchell and Alice Faye.
If you look carefully, you will see their silouettes.
Hand in hand, they will be walking the beach.
If you listen closely, you will hear Big Band Sounds
from The old Balinese Room, and Johnny Mitchell hollaring,
"Christy, Alice Faye, come back here,
you're missing the Party!
The two spirits will continue walking the beach,
catching up on old times and their friendship.
Christy's been gone a long time now.
Brother Johnny passed just this last year.
Alice Faye married a Galveston boy, Phil Harris, and they
use to come to the island and see the greats at the old
Balinese Room. Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald,
Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Bob Hope, and more.
No one was better than Christy, though!
You can still try his fabulous shrimp recipe
at his restaurant, The Beachcomber, which is
right at the entrance to Stewart Beach.
It is still owned by brother George Mitchell,
founder of The Woodlands, Texas. Younger brother
George, honors his older brothers, especially
brother Christy by keeping The Beachcomber open.
The moon will be big tonight, the beach
lit with moonlight and sand will soften
the angel steps of two old friends tonight;
Christy and Alice Faye, together at last!

Your Life is controlled by each of Your Decisions! There are no little Decisions! Each Decision Achieves or Defeats a Goal!

When this message becomes ingrained in your thinking, your decisions will become more important to you and procrastination must leave. You cannot procrastinate and be decisive at the same time... it is impossible. Some decisions are hard, some are easy, but each has to be made by you. Together, all of your decisions constitute your life. There are no little Decisions! (C.Brady)
