![]() | Episode 1 on video April 3rd **Begin Transmission** Lucasfilm has announced it. Episode One is going to be available on video April 3rd in the US. No word yet on international release dates. Also there isn't going to be a DVD because George Lucas has been so busy working on the script and pre-production for Episode 2, he never had time to work on it. Too bad, because a DVD would have been spectacular. Some good news is that the behind the scenes and Star Wars Celebration footage might be put onto the widescreen version. This may only be rumors. More news when it comes. Jade out. **end transmission**. |
| Star Wars nominated for Empire Awards Empire magazine has nominated Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace for their annual awards! The movie was nominated for Best Picture, George Lucas for best director, and Liam Neeson and Ewan Mcgregor for best British actors. Here's the real kicker. YOU are the ones who choose who win! The winner is chosen by whoever gets the highest number of votes from people like YOU. You can vote at Empire Online. Tell your friends! -Derigo | ![]() |
![]() | Mara Jade: Flesh and Blood I was very happy when I heard the news that my right hand woman, Mara Jade (now Mara Jade Skywalker), was finnally going to grace the frontier of live action. Played by Shannon Baska, the flesh and blood version of Mara was created for Decipher's CCG game. She has two cards in the enhanced Jabba's palace deck and will have at least one more. She is depicted very similar to the way she was on the cover of "Mara Jade: By the Emperor's Hand" issue 1, and for a future card, she is also shown in her green "Vision of the Future" outfit. On the main page of the website, you can vote on what you think of this new depiction of my favorite woman. |
| Prequel News As you guessed, George Lucas is still working on the script. They haven't begun casting either. Nothing new about that. What is new is that Rick Mccallum has confirmed that shooting (with a camera) will begin in June. The art department has already gotten busy, and the new studio in Australia will begin being constructed in March. As for rumors, no Darth Maul is not gonna be back and yes it is common knowledge that Amidala and Anikan eventually get married, get it on, and pop! Out comes Luke and Leia. I am only saying this because the Star Wars Insider received several angry letters from people who thought this was supposed to be a super secret key plotpoint. On a final note, yes Jar Jar is going to be back (if you don't like it, go throw some darts or do something other than whine like a newborn Gammorean), but in exchange Boba Fett will finally return!Love, Peace, and stuff. -Derigo | ![]() |
![]() | Insider#47 Update **Begin Transmission** Let's start with what you've already heard. I'm on the cover (and I need to brush my hair) and there is some prequel news. Super. For what you haven't heard, this month's issue includes information on George Lucas celebrating at USC film school's anniversery, a short spot on the upcoming book "Rogue Planet", some info on Magic of the Myth, and George Lucas in Love got recognized by George lucas himself. Star Sightings had information on Billy Dee Williams (Ladies' Man with Tim Meadows), Carrie Fisher (Scream 3), Mark Hamill (CNBC special .com), James Earl Jones (Tiberian Sun), Samuel L. Jackson (Unbreakable), Liam Neeson (a 6 part miniseries based on the Leon Uris' novel, Trinity), Terence Stamp (Red Planet), Hugh Quarshie (To Walk with Lions), and more of the same type things. Mike Quinn, who played Nien Nunb, gets interviewed along with Natilie Portman and Pernilla August. Also, there is an article for anyone who has read all of Vector Prime (note: the following sentence is a novel spoiler!) on the death of Chewbacca saving Jacen Solo's life and his appearence in his own comic book series. The new Star Wars Rocks poster is shown off and the winners of the Star Wars Music awards are acknowledged (note: this is a really cool article that anyone who like music, especially ska or dance music, should read). To top off the sundae, although this is not in the Insider, Rick Mcallum has supposedly made comments indicating that there will be another Star Wars Celebration in 2002.** End transmission**. |
| Casting has begun! Finally, casting has begun on Episode 2. According to sources, Robin Gurland has seen tons of people for many many parts. There's one thing that every9one wants to know though- who's the new Anakin. It hasn't been decided yet, but the person who seems to be in the lead is an actor named Paul Walker who has starred in small parts in'movies like Varsity Blues and She's all that. There's an article about Paul at the episode 2 section of TheForce.net | ![]() |
![]() | The Merchant's Corner Here's an update in the world of collectibles. First of all, my good buddy Wuher has finally been made into an action figure! For those of you who don't know Wuher, he's the bartender at the Mos Eisley Cantina. Unfortunately, it looks like he's gonna be another fan club exclusive figure. What's cool about that is he comes with a pass similar to the ones from the Star Wars Celebration (and yes Jet I am still mad you didn't take me with you) with him on it. Get yours while they last. Also, it has been made official there are going to be new figures out in 2001. Hopefully we won't have to wait that long because we all know Hasbro likes their cash flow. For the lego fans, the much anticipated Millenium falcon set is going to be out soon along with a new x-wing and At-at. That's pretty much all and Hakuna Matata. -Derigo |
| George Lucas in Love review Derigo and I have finally gotten around to downloading and watching the knew big internet hit fan film, George Lucas in Love. for those of you who don't know much about the movie, it's a spoof on the film Shakespeare in Love. It takes place with George Lucas as an aspiring film student who is having writing problems writing his film about a space farmer. He is inspired when he meets a cinnamon roll haired girl who well- inspires him. Other inspirations include a spacy roommate who thinks there's an all powerful force binding us all, a creepy neighbor who acts a tad like Darth Vader, a proffesor with an accent suspiciously similar to Yoda's as is his speech pattern, and many others. The video quality isn't great unless you have cable modem or faster. Still it is very funny and definetly worth watching. You can download it or even buy it on video or DVD at Mediatrip.com. -Jet Vega and Derigo | |
| IndianaJones.com Hacked! Anyone who has tried to get onto indianajones.com lately already knows that someone has screwed around with the site. Apparently, there was a bit of a security breach at the company that does the site. There have been nearly 2,000 hack attacks like this where domains have been illegallyused and rerouted. They are working on fixing the problem right now. There is a suspect who is being prosecuted, but there isn't much info available. | |
| Interested in role-playing live? I got this letter a couple weeks ago. If anyone is interested, email this guy at DarthNemesisDL@aol.com. Greetings Jet Vega!!! Allow me to introduce myself, I am Darth Nemesis Sith Master and head of a small Sith Order in Cincinnati, Ohio and to my right is my apprentice Darth Dread! To you we say Greetings! The reason for my transmission is to ask you if you know anyone who plays Star Wars (in clubs) and go to conventions! It doesn't matter what group they are whether it be Jedi Clubs, other Sith Clubs, Imperial or Rebellion Clubs, but we do want to play with others that do not just want to do SW Gaming or sit on the computer in neverending chatrooms, but actually go to Cons and portray the characters. Not that we are opposed to gaming or that we are too strict in live action roleplay, but we want to meet other people in SW fandom, so far the people we have e-mailed have not responded so we're having a hard time getting into hyperspace so to speak. We started our Order just after the opening of Episode I so we are new to SW fans in general, but we can't get them to respond to e-mail, and in the current chatrooms we've been in everyone just wants to either role dice or they want to play games online and that's it, that's cool but we were kinda hoping to find some other clubs that go to conventions, play Star Wars and hang out! :) If you can assist us in any way the Sith in Cincinnati would be greatful and will remember your contribution to our Order! Thanks for your time and hope very much to hear from you, Until the next transmission... | ![]() |
| News update: 8-7-00 Sorry, I haven't updated the news in a while. So far pretty much everyone now knows that Anakin has been chosen. The actor's name is Hayden Christensen and he's now on the sover of the current Star Wars Insider. They have started filming the movie and it will be the first digitally filmed movie ever. Very cool. In less happy news, Alec Guiness passed away yesterday. We all mourn his loss and remember him as not only the man who played Obi-Wan Kenobi, but as one of the greatest actors of our time. |
