Lady was with me from the time she was eight weeks old. I always wanted a border collie and when I found Lady, it was love at first site. She was such a tiny ball of black and white fur. I knew that I had to take her home. She got her name because she was always so ladylike in everything she did.
Her energy level was more then I planned for, but we soon worked out a system. That system was simple, I stood still and threw a tennis ball and lady ran, caught it and brought it back. Of course, she could do this for hours on end. I often tired out after thirty minutes or so.
Another thing whe liked to do was 'herd' the cats. When she was very small the cats (I had two at the itme) scared her, but as she got older they simply became things to herd around the house.
She traveled with me from Oklahoma to Texas and spent her golden years as one of the crew.
She has brought much joy to my life. On August 10, 1999 I had to send my beloved Lady to the Rainbow Bridge. She was 17 at the time and her eys had dimmed and her energy was gone. She looked at me with sadness in her eyes and I knew it was time. She is missed every day of my life.
