ELIMINATED EPISODE TWO
JON |
JOHN |
Two Jo(h)n's in the game and the two of them are eliminated in Episode Two. John sends his apology to the team:
John: "To all the members of Team Laffy, I'm afraid I owe you an apology. Unfortunately, time got extremely tight for me right before the game started, which resulted in my not being able to hold up my end on the challenges. I wasn't even able to submit a quiz this time, in fact. Best of luck to those remaining in uncovering who the mole is. Sorry if my lack of activity made things "less fun" for any of you."Because neither of them handed their questionnaire in, they didn't accuse anyone of being the mole. Because of this, the next lowest scoring players are eliminated.
ELIMINATED EPISODE TWO
BRIAN |
TROY |
Troy: "no1 would talk to me when i was in the game....*sigh*"His misinterpretation of the consequences of the challenge made him think that his job was harder than it really was. Maybe he was also looking too hard for the mole...Brian: "I'm mad cuz, I got stuck with the hardest job. I had to find out who was the killer was that is 1 out of 6 people. Thats about a 18% chance of gettin it. Then, if i got it wrong i would lose 40000. It was way to hard cuz nothin happened to a day til the finishing. So, Bill told me to choose him. So I did. I think it's bull that I got such a hard job. O 'well I'm sure there will be other games. I had fun though. ( Damon: you woulda been here if you woulda chose the other person who you thought the mole was. ) Well, I guess this will be all theres no point of stayin here if I'm not even playin. Unless, they have a reunion givin me a chance back ( hint hint to the host ). Adios mi amigos.
Four more go down, and only ten remain. It's the week before the final episode so it's time to get risky with the kitty. This week both teams must gamble at least $50,000 of their kitty on this week's challenges. If they win a challenge (meaning they win the maximum amount available for the challenge), they will win back two times what they bet. If they fail to win the maximum amount available, the amount they bet will be deducted from their kitty. There's a small catch that none of the team members pick up on. Only one of the three challenges have a win or lose amount (ie. you can either win the maximum amount or nothing). The other two have accumulative rewards. It is much more difficult to win a game where you have to earn several smaller amounts than in a game where there is only one amount to win...
Another twist to the game. Last week Katanna organises with the host to go on a camp during this episode, with the advance notice, the challenges are worked around him and the Laffy team are one short this episode.
So who is the mole? The host makes a few accusations based on what has happened so far...
BILL performed well in the first week and everyone trusts him with completing the challenges. Even though he gained more money last week, his 'act' on the Orient Express contributed to Brian's elimination. Sabotage with a difference? Wonder who is next on his list.Nikki is confused how she almost lost a hint for the team even though it was clearly stated in her instructions. The host continues with the Laffy accusations.DAMON disappeared last week, at the same time he was given two important roles in the completion of two of the challenges. Even when he disappears, he still manages to gain a free pass. How is that possible?
LISA got the team very far in the strongest link, but didn't choose to bank after she knew there would be difficulties completing the most important final task. Nice of her to make it look like a team mates fault, when it was she who didn't bank the $70,000.
NICK picked up the wrong ticket number for the Orient Express. Looking at the old profile page or do you think you are Nikki? Or was it just some subtle sabotage from the mole to cost the group a few thousand dollars?
NIKKI seems to be a very helpful girl, but when it comes to the important moments, she seems to head off in her own direction. Did she tell you she nearly lost the group's 'hint' for this week?
CEDRIC was the only player not able to complete a strongest chain task, breaking the chain of two tasks in a row and costing the group valuable dollars. Too obvious to be mole sabotage, or is that what he wants everyone to think? With suspicions being able to point to absolutely every player, suspicions rise as the game continues.DAVE, as the most experienced player, doesn't seem to be showing the team how to play the game. You were the mole last series, but it doesn't necessarily mean you are not the mole for this series.
GIL is fairly quiet, only talking at appropriate moments. Not a very loud player, but all of the sabotage which has occurred so far hasn't been very loud (ie. obvious) either...but the sabotage has cost your team $485,000. Maybe there is a connection.
KATANNA, the only player whose face is not revealed on the profile page. Maybe he wants to hide a secret identity, or was it just to penalise the team a couple of thousand dollars? [NOTE: Katanna, you must send in your profile picture this week, otherwise you will be eliminated from the game and/or will penalise your team a further $50,000]
TOM had already killed a millionaire and was up for the free pass, but the free pass didn't seem important to him and he wanted to kill more. And he didn't kill just anyone...he killed the person who would cost the group $40,000 if found dead.
CHALLENGE ONE: SIMPLY PREDICTABLE
Last week they were all asked who they thought said a 'backstabbing quote'. The quote was completely made up and was used by the host to determine the players for the following challenge. The three players in each team who were accused of saying the backstabbing quote must participate in this challenge. Why? This challenge is the easiest to win if the team work together, but can it be won if the team's biggest backstabbers play the game and are offered a free pass to the next episode...
Bill, Damon and Nick are voted in as the biggest backstabbers from Mason. Laffy votes in Cedric, Dave and Gil.
For this challenge, each player will be asked three questions, where they must respond with the names of either one of the other two team mates involved in this challenge. The two team mates will have to try and guess how that player responded to each question. If either of the team mates can guess all three answers correctly, that player is 'simply predictable'. As all the teams have to do is tell each other the answers to win easily, a twist is added to make the challenge more interesting:
The teams discuss how much they are going to bet on this challenge. Bill doesn't feel very confident and just says $20,000. He reminds the team he has won a hint for this week and tries to get them all to post the amount they think they should bet. Nikki isn't confident either and agrees with $20,000. Gil gets his team to post amounts and the average amount will be the amount that Laffy bets. He suggests $30,000. Cedric is confused by the gambling and simply agrees with Gil. Bill gets annoyed that noone posts and says he simply is going to post $20,000 if noone objects before the deadline. Dave thinks they need to gamble about $300,000 in total this episode to make up for what they have lost. Damon simply agrees with Bill and because the majority of the team agreed, Bill officially bets $20,000 on this challenge. Nick agrees after the final post was made, saying he wasn't too confident with this challenge and only wanted to bet $20,000. He thinks Lisa and Nikki are lucky in this challenge because they get to bludge. Cedric thinks Dave's suggestion is ridiculous and simply agrees with the $30,000 suggested by Gil. Gil thinks they shouldn't bet anymore than $50,000 this week. Dave apologises for his astronomical figures and agrees with $30,000. Cedric makes the official bet on the message board.
Bill was asked the following three questions:
The teams think that's all that's involved with the challenge, but the website had told them at the beginning of the week that this challenge is worth up to $100,000. The two non-backstabbing players from each team were sent off to do a secret part of the challenge. Once again, the maximum amount could easily be won if the team simply communicates and trusts each other, but who will betray the group?
The non-backstabbing team members, Lisa and Nikki from Mason and Tom from Laffy (who will also represent an absent Katanna) are given the final part of the challenge. They are told that their team mates will be offered a deal where they could win up to a further $60,000 by being able to predict their non-backstabbing team mates. Between the two players, they must each hold one of two outcomes: "The Money" or "The Free Pass Stealer". The team will simply have to predict "Who has the money?"
If the team correctly predicts the person with "The Money", the team gains the money earnt by the non-backstabbing team members. But if the team chooses the person who holds "The Free Pass Stealer", the team don't win any of the bonus money and the person who holds the free pass stealer, steals it from the player who had just earnt it.
"The Money" has to be earnt by the non-backstabbing team members before the others can win any of it. They are given three sets of three questions. Each of the non-backstabbing team members must submit what answers they think are correct. For each set of questions either of the non-backstabbing team members predict correctly, "The Money" outcome will be increased by $20,000. All three sets will make "The Money" valued at $60,000. For a better chance of gaining more money, both players are encouraged to submit different answers.
Cedric, Dave and Gil are given their opportunity to play the deal. They are all told that Tom had to play for Katanna. Like Damon, Gil accepts to play the deal, not knowing he is risking a free pass to the final episode. All three accept, so the deal is officially played. All three are smart and think that Katanna has the money considering Tom would try and keep the free pass stealer for himself. The team is correct and the money earnt by Tom gets added onto the kitty.
CHALLENGE TWO: BEAT THE HOST
Last week, the players were asked who could be most trusted with communication. The two getting the most votes get to participate in this challenge, simply because the team won't be able to see what they are doing. Lisa and Nikki are picked for Mason while Cedric and Katanna are picked for Laffy.
The challenge is simple. To catch the host when he is online and play one of three online games against him: Naval Command, Backgammon or Dots. The host is an expert at one, an intermediate player at another, and a novice in the third. Of course the players are not told which skill level applies to which game. The two team members will each have one attempt to beat the host and they both must play different games.
Nikki bets $5,000 for Mason. Cedric bets $15,000 for Laffy.
Lisa is first to catch the host online and decides to play dots against him. She thinks she is considerably good at the game so lets her daughter sit down on her lap to watch her victory. Lisa quickly gets an early lead on the host leading 17 - 5. But then as always with Dots, larger scoring streaks comes through. The host gains 29 more points, to lead the game 34 - 17. With the luck of the game, Lisa is pretty much set up to win the entire game by scoring the rest of the points. But with an unexpected turn of events, her daughter bumps her making her place her final line in the only spot on the board that will lose it for her. The host takes advantage of this 'mishap' and takes out all the remaining squares winning 64 - 17. She lost the game in the hosts 'intermediate' level game. It is now up to her partner to beat the host in either a game he is an expert in, or in a game he doesn't play very well.
Katanna is the next up and decides to play Naval Command against the host. Katanna is the first to strike sinking one of the host's ships. The host quickly strikes back leveling the game. It appears that victory is in the eyes of Katanna as he sinks another 2 ships. But with strategy in place, the host sinks Katanna's remaining four ships in a row very easily and wins the game. Little does Katanna know that he played the host in his 'expert' level game.
Nikki tries emailing the host to see if he's online. It doesn't work. She struggles trying to catch the host online.
Neither Nikki or Cedric find the host so can't play their games. Both teams don't win the $60,000 for the team. Even worse, the team's lose the amount they gambled on the challenge.
CHALLENGE THREE: TRAPPED
The remaining three who can't be trusted with communication: Bill, Damon and Nick for Mason and Dave, Gil and Tom for Laffy, will be able to watch each other's individual movements in this challenge because it requires a lot of communication.
The three team members are locked in different web rooms. Their challenge is for the three of them to escape their rooms. Each rooms contain clues that will help them escape. If one person can escape, the team wins $10,000. If two people can escape, the $10,000 is tripled to $30,000. If all three can get out, the $30,000 is tripled to $90,000.
As the team earnt a 'hint' in week 1, they are allowed to ask the host for help twice. On one occassion they can be told exactly what to do and on the other they can be given a hint as to what to do.
Bill thinks the challenge is very simple so thinks they should gamble $40,000. Gil simply copies Bill and makes the same bet for Laffy.
Bill tells his team mates that his room consists of the number nine, the phrase "click on the light switch", a picture of a safe and the instructions "to open the safe, enter 4-digit code". He asks for what the others have. He threatens his team mates by saying that if this easy challenge goes wrong, one of the group has to be the mole. So if anyone doesn't participate he will vote for them as the mole. If they aren't the mole and they aren't participating he will vote for them anyway to make sure that they will be eliminated from the game as well.
Dave is in the same room as Bill but instead of waiting for the four digit code, he hacks through the website discovering the code to open the safe is 5397. But now that he has the safe open he doesn't know what to do.
Bill uses the main hint quickly asking what he has to do next. He is told that he has to tell someone to "click on the light switch". The light switch will light up one of the rooms.
Damon announces that he is in a pitch black room. The only thing he finds in the dark is the number 7.
Tom announces
that he has a picture with a code on it, thinking it might be the one to
help Dave open the safe. He also says he has the number three and
the instructions for escaping: "To escape, you must send the host the two
keys and a lock". He also thinks that the lightswitch and the safe
can help him escape. Nick is in the same room and lets his team know.
Tom is sure there will be another puzzle piece like his so asks his team.
He thinks Dave has it but nobody responds.
Gil lets
his team know that he is a pitch black room. Like Damon, he finds
the 7. But Damon finally finds the little light switch in the room.
His room lights up and he finds the instructions: "Replace the word "hotel"
with the word "potato" in your URL to continue on...", an unusual email
address [mason&#)%!*@hotmail.com], a picture (shown right) and a message
from the mole saying "I'm sure one of your team mates can forward you out...".
He realises that the picture file is named "Hotel Key 2". He tries
replacing the word hotel with potato, but nothing happens. He quickly
realises that someone else must do it, as all the clues work like a chain
reaction. A clue in one room will lead to a clue in another room.
Gil hasn't realised this and tells Dave to follow his clue and try to find the lightswitch in his room. He tells Dave to try the four digit code on the first hotel key, not realising that Dave has hacked through the site and already knows that number is not the code. Gil soon realises that the lightswitch clue is relevant to him because he is in the dark room that would need the use of a light switch. He finds it, clicks it and finds the same clues as Damon (except the email says Laffy instead of Mason). Gil posts his picture to the team.
Dave posts his picture on the Laffy club page. Pretending that he was a committed team member and tried every number from 0000 to 9999, he tells his group that he knows the code to open his safe is 5397. He suggests to the others to try the 2345 code on things in their room. In the open safe is more instructions: "To get out, use the safe's code to complete the equation on the lock and keys. YOU must send the equation's answer to the host to escape your room!" Dave and the team have found the two keys but he is completely confused as to what the lock is. He thinks it has something to do with the safe. He suggests it might be time to get some help from the host.
Gil tries the 2345 code, but it doesn't work on anything. Gil thinks the lock is something to do with the lock of the room, but also agrees to use the help. It takes half the challenge for Dave to realise that Tom is in the third room and not Cedric. He says to hold off the help until Tom has tried the code.
Nick replaces 'hotel' with 'potato' and finds more clues in his room. He finds a set of codes: ! = e, @ = s, # - o, $ - t, ^ - r, & - l, * - d, ( - a, ) - c, and the message "To log on to the account, just use your password but adding "12" on the end!". As the team has the two keys, he thinks he can escape his room. He tries, but he doesn't know about where to find the lock.
Tom is the first to pick up that the keys contain parts of an equation. He notices that "CODE" is the code that Dave has and thinks there is a pi sign on the other key. Tom can't find anywhere to go in his room so he thinks that either Dave or Gil must complete the next step. Dave uses their team's hint and asks the host what to do next. He is told that Tom must replace hotel with potato as indicated by Gil's clue.
Bill is
very confident with the challenge. He uses the coded letters found
in Nick's room to complete the email address found in Damon's room.
He accesses the email address by using his password and adding 12 onto
the end. In the email account he finds a lot of information.
The number 5, an email that needs to be forwarded to Damon, and finally
the lock! With that information Bill has the four numbers which make
up the code. He tries different combinations of the four numbers
and discovers that the code is 5397. He is able to open the safe
and he discovers that by inserting the keys into the lock, an equation
is formed. If he tells the host the correct answer to the equation,
he escapes his room. He tells the group all this, but gets mixed
up in telling the rest of the group how they have to escape their rooms.
He sends in the answer 6948. The answer is correct and Bill has escaped
his room. $10,000 for Mason. However, confused with how Nick
is suppose to get out, he uses their last hint.
Damon receives the forward from Bill. He is instructed he has to list everything the team had to do to get out of their rooms, in the correct order. If he does this, he escapes from his room. He quickly asks the group for help in reminding him what has happened so far. Bill gives him a summary. Damon does this, to increase the team's winning to $30,000. Bill and Damon go into an in depth discussion about Nick's involvement. If he completes the challenge the team will get a lot of money, if he doesn't they know he is the mole. They quickly prompt Nick to complete the challenge.
Gil asks him to hold out using his clue because he has an idea. He thinks the weird email address they received has something to do with their next step. He realises now that someone must replace hotel with potato, but Dave had already sent in for the hint. He guesses that the potato clue will give them a clue about the email address. He's right, but Tom still needs to replace hotel. Dave is annoyed that Gil figured that out right after he sent out for the hint. Tom tries replacing hotel with potato and finds the decoder and the message about the email account password. But he thinks he is the one who can get into the email account. He tries it, and finds out that it doesn't work. He asks the other guys to try their passwords in the email account. He guesses that the email account has the lock. He's right, but he has to wait until one of his team mates open the account.
Nick sends in the two keys and what appears to be the lock. But for some unknown reason, the lock has been altered and is definitely not the original lock that was released. Nick thinks it is enough to win the challenge but an incorrect lock means that the keys cannot fit!
Gil tries his password on the website. It doesn't work. Dave gives it a go and gets in. He finds the three pieces of information the team need to escape. He quickly uploads the lock onto his team's message board. He forwards an email to Gil containing instructions on how he needs to get out. Dave gets everyone to send Gil instructions on how they needed to get out of their rooms. They are given the final digit of the code but didn't need it due to Dave's hacking. He sends the host the number 6948 to escape his room. He then tells the host that Tom's email that was needed to escape his room was sent to him instead. He asks if he can forward that email on to the host for Tom to escape. It's not valid. Gil sends in the steps that the team used to escape their rooms up until that point. 2 out of 3 have escaped so far and Tom needs to simply submit the keys and lock to win. Tom thinks he has sent them to the host but he sent them to Dave instead. Dave meets up with Tom for a chat and tells him that he sent the keys and lock to the wrong person. Tom asks Dave to forward the email to the host, but he can't because he can't access the email account the email was sent to from the computer he was chatting from!
Time runs out. Nick's lock is invalid so only 2 out of 3 Mason players escaped. Tom sent his keys and lock to the wrong person meaning only 2 out of 3 Laffy players escaped. 2 players is worth $30,000, but both teams gambled $40,000 meaning they both lose $10,000 for this challenge.
Tom is paranoid that everyone thinks he is the mole, thinking it will be impossible for him to make it to the final episode. He decides to chat to the host, copying the transcript ensuring to get enough information from the host to prove to the team that he is not the mole. But does anybody believe the chat transcript?
A lot of money was won, while a lot of money was lost.

It's time for each of the contestants to do the mole questionnaire. They are asked ten questions about the identity of the mole:
Tom: "Well, here I am for my final video diary. Why I say that, you ask. It's because Dave is gonna pull me out, leaving Gil, Cedric and Katanna (The Mole) in the final three. Cedric and I have Katanna nailed, but Dave thinks it's me. So when it comes time for questionnaires, he'll put me down as the mole and I'll be eliminated. Oh well, at least it was fun. This game is great and I hope you'll see me next series! Signing off from his last video diary, TVol/Tom."Who will make it to the final episode???Damon: "I'm not sure at all. I'm doubting between the two people whose names are alike :) Nikki or Nick I went for Nick because he's still more suspicious to me. although i think he will get out of his hotelroom, but that's because it would be too obvious if he didn't make it, when it was spelled out for him how to escape. He gave us the meaning of the symbols in the masonlocked@hotmail.com address. But it didn't say what the % meant. Bill thought it would be 'locked' and it was. Still, Bill is a bit suspicious too. He wanted to use the hints to get out the hotel very quickly. He constantly said 'So we are stuck? Then we need to use the hint!' And I always told him to wait. Furthermore I think I've screwed up myself too. A few days ago I got an offline message from Lisa, telling me Nikki holds the money. I didn't know what she meant by then, but later we had to guess who holds the money and who the free pass. I didn't check her message anymore and told Nick and Bill to vote for Lisa holding the money. A bit later I found out I was wrong 'cause she told me NIKKI had the money and not her. I should've checked first!! The final three in the episode is: Me (of course!) Nick (cause he's the Mole) and Lisa (cause I think she suspects Nick too, plus after me screwing up, she'll probably get the pass) or maybe Bill. Just hope I'll be part of it."
Dave: "I wish I was more sure about this!!!! However, I am not. I have just over the last few days come to think of Tom as the Mole. He has told me again and again that he isn't, but I cannot be sure. In the last episode, I would like to just have Gil, Cedric and Myself in it, but from where I see it, it isn't possible. It's been a great game, and I hope I am still around for another week :)"
Nikki: "Evidence. I have evidence pointing to a range of people in this episode. Damon played the Orient Express game "too well" murdering one too many. He then said someone said to do it, but didn't reveal who they were. The 3 guys playing "Trapped" seemed to do well in winning that challenge. They all seemed to try extremely hard especially Bill and Damon. Although Damon said he couldn't post the 'lock' because it is .bmp or something like that. This could be an excuse. The only thing with that challenge is that if a mole was to sabotage it, there is a lot of work involved so would they wait until the end? People would more likely be suspicious at the end. Also back to the Orient Express, when trying to find out what roles people were, all people lied to me.Then i wasn't in the backstab group, so it seems most people trust me. I don't trust Lisa as much now. She quickly took the opportunity for a free pass, when it was offered to both of us, then took some of my answers in the sets of what we thought the other guys would answer. I haven't heard from her for a while. Nick has suspicion written all over him. Tries to play it low key, but makes him a huge suspect. Bill made a statement that if they didn't win the "Trapped" challenge he would have his number one suspect, i wonder why he would say this? In the final 3, I don't really care as long as i am there. As long as one of Damon or Nick goes I will be content."
Gil: "I gave straight forward answers in my set. Also I am trying really hard to get the kitty up, because it is very low. Katanna is becoming more suspicious, did he really go away? I actually think he did. It was a surprise I was part of the group classified as "BackStab" I really thought the group trusted me. But more on that later. Cedric tried to blame Katanna for something that happened. Then in Chat, Cedric told me what he thought: Tom 50%, Katanna 40%, Dave 10% and myself 0% chance of being the mole. Then he placed a $15,000 bet on the 2nd challenge when he said it was hard and I wanted less. He also seems to be on Chat a fair bit, but keeps missing the host. Dave told me what to send to the host, missing an obvious part, the code of the safe, plus leaving some of the stuff he did. If I had of followed his transcript completely it may not have been accepted. Also Tom seems edgy about everybody seemingly suspecting him of being the mole, even saying he had a chat with the host and had a transcript of the host saying he is not the mole! Then Tom said he knew I had a free pass, well I have heard nothing so I don't expect one, maybe it was a ploy for me to not worry about this questionnaire. I still suspect everyone really, but some more than others. In the final 3, I expect to be there, no doubt about it. I would be disappointed if I wasn't, I am one of the smartest here, and should make
it. Oh, another 2, well Dave is getting better and Cedric to be there, I think that would be good and probably fair."Bill: "Up until last night, I had nothing to go on. Everyone seemed to have had done something that was "molish." I was going to just guess. Last night I received an offline Yahoo message from "robbieazertyui" saying he gave me the wrong information re: a challenge. Information that was given to me by Damon. In checking back through posts, Damon swore he wasn't Robbie from Belgium. Obviously a big lie, thus I feel he is the mole. If he would lie about who he was, that must be the reason. I hope I'm correct because that's the only clue I have."
Katanna: "I only feel cedric is the mole, no evedence. I would like to see the mole, me, and tom in the final 3, because tom thinks it is me!"
Lisa: "Evidence? Ha! I've barely got a gut feeling! The final three, ohhh, I'd like to see Nikki or Bill make it so maybe i'll be lucky and one of them is the mole making the final three them and me :))"
Cedric: "I'm lost, i dont know what to think any more, I know for sure that Gil is not the mole, dave may be, but i will focus on Tom and Matt, especially matt, but if he is the mole he did a crappy job just by not being around for a week. i'm probably out of this game cause i am very confused. i think the final 3 will be Matt, Gil and dave. but, host, i had a lot of fun, and I met some funny and interesting people, that i will probably meet in some other games. cedric"
