See The Sun

“Ready to dance?”

“Of course, as always.” She took his hand twirled out onto the dance floor. She took his hand gently and stepped in close, and pressed her fingers into his other hand. She slowly stepped back as he spun her around. Her blond hair followed her around her own dance as she gently stepped forward, linking her hands around his neck. She was so close he could feel her breath on his lips. It felt calming, relaxing even. She slipped her hands through her hair, gently placed them and then landed them back on his neck. He looked into her eyes, and slowly placed his lips onto hers. She fell into a deep kiss with him. His hands ran through her hair, and gently touched her back.

“Are we still dancing?” he whispered.

“Always.”

* * *

There were some days where when your eyes opened, they closed quickly, and there was no way you could stay in bed, but if you got up you’d be miserable. This was one of those days. But then again, lately, those were the only days she ever had anymore. It hurt, that she couldn’t ever say Buffy was dead, not to anyone, but then again, it hurt worse than when she was alone in her room at night, and she couldn’t even bring herself to say it. She lived a nightmare, she used to have nightmares about this when she was little, but now she was living it. She cried herself to sleep every night, and her dreams were her only solace. Dawn loved to sleep. When she slept the pain would go away. And she would dream. In her dreams Buffy would be waiting for her in front of the school, but in reality, Dawn went home alone. Dawn hated Sunnydale. No, that was a lie, Dawn hated destiny. If it weren’t for destiny, she’d still have her sister.

“Dawn?” a voice behind her said.

Damn, I was so close to getting out of here. “Kristy,” she faintly smiled. “What’s up?”

“Oh, nothing. I’m, uh, sorry about your mom,” Kristy offered.

Yeah, I’m sorry about the risk of the surgery. I’m sorry I didn’t stay home from school that day. I’m sorry Glory got herself kicked out of hell. I’m sorry Ben was a jerk. I’m sorry I didn’t fight Doc. I’m sorry the portal opened. I’m sorry that Buffy is gone. “Thanks. Uh, not to be rude or anything, but is there anything I can get for you? I really have to get home,” she lied. Dawn knew for a fact she could wander over to the magic shop whenever. Of course, if Dawn had let anyone know Buffy was gone, well then Dawn would be back with daddy, or she’d been stuck in a foster home.

“Right, yeah. I’m having a party this weekend, and if it’s okay, I was wondering if you’d like to come, to the party,” Kristy offered with a fake smile.

Great, a pity invite. Well, maybe you should go, after all, it’s not like you’ve got anything else to do. “Okay, I’ll ask,” Dawn nodded. “Well, I have to get home,” she smiled and started off towards the magic shop. “Well what an interest weekend this will turn out to be.”

* * *

I’m coming round to open the blinds

You can’t hide here any longer

Some how, walking into the magic shop wasn’t the same as it always was. Some how, when he used to got into the magic shop he didn’t feel as empty. But then again, it was easy to feel empty when your best friend was gone. The shop was so quiet lately, so calm, so boring, so upsetting. He sighed as he swung the door open and the bells jingled in his ear. Giles would have to take those bells down sometime. He hated them, everyone else did.

“Hey,” Tara said offering a weak smile.

“Hey, where’s Dawn?” Xander asked, running his fingers through his hair.

“She’s at a friends house, or a party, or something,” Anya said as she dusted a lamp, or a weapon, or a paperweight.

“Hey Wil,” Xander offered. Willow had buried herself in magic books and spells the day after Buffy’s funeral. She was looking for something, that’s what she needed. A cause. And without Buffy, Willow felt like she had school, and then she had this imaginary cause to fight. Xander hoped she’d just find something, or she’d understand, that they were all upset.

“Hey,” Willow mumbled under her breath.

“So, G man, what’s up?” Xander offered.

“Don’t call me that,” Giles warned as he restocked some books.

“Whoa, this crowds deader than a doornail,” Xander mumbled. He wished Dawn was here; she was usually the life of the party. Which was weird seeing as Buffy was her sister. He wished there was someone else there who actually talk.

“Hey,” a new voice growled from the doorway.

“Spike,” Giles sighed. Xander expected him to toss him out, but instead he said; “Join the party.”

Spike laughed. “Try living in that bloody dull crypt,” he offered.

“No thank you,” Giles smiled.

Whoa, this was weird. Giles and Spike were actually getting along. I guess hell froze over after all. Xander snorted. He shook his head and sat down next to Willow.

“So Red, what are you up to?” Spike asked. Willow said nothing. “Okay,” he sighed. “Hey, G, I could really use a drink now,” he smiled.

“I’m all out,” Giles smiled. “So could I.”

“So, where’s the little one?”

“Oh, she’s out with friends,” Tara smiled.

“Good for her, at least one of this lot will have some fun,” Spike smirked.

“I’ve got it!” Willow cried.

“Got what?” Tara frowned.

“I have to check something,” Willow cried and snatched a book from Anya.

“Hey!” Anya protested.

“What is she doing?” Spike snapped.

“We aren’t sure,” Xander admitted scratching his ear.

“That’s it! I’ve got it! I really have it!” Willow cried.

“What, what in hell are you talking about?” Spike demanded.

“I can bring Buffy back.”

* * *

My G-d you need to rinse those puffy eyes

You can’t last here any longer

Part Two

“So, I should call Angel,” Willow said.

“We’ve got it!” Xander said. “Spike stay here and watch the body, and wait for Dawn to call,” he ordered and darted into the front.

“Great,” Spike sighed. He hovered over the body carefully. She looked the same as she had the day that the world almost ended. Her hair still fell in the same way, and her eyes were still closed. They looked peaceful. Spike always found that surprising. If that was him, he’d be in agony, but she looked peaceful. As if she understood at that moment why terrible things happened to good people. He smiled, at least she was peaceful.

“We’re going to get some stuff from my room, we’ll be right back!” Willow called.

“Right,” Spike shrugged. He couldn’t help but roll his eyes. He didn’t even know what the lousy thing they were doing was, and they expected him to try something. Besides, he knew she wasn’t likely to run away to Vegas with him. He looked at her lips, and then quickly turned, that was one thing he didn’t need to see. They were so cold, and lifeless, they weren’t even smiling. Buffy always had such wonderful lips, but now they were just cold. He should do something about that. Is there way to make a dead person warm?

“Spike, try not to touch the body!” Willow warned.

“Isn’t she supposed to be gone?” Spike asked. He ignored her. He looked down. He placed his lips slowly on hers, as he had in his dream from the night before. He just didn’t want her to wake up cold. He wanted her to wake up happy. He hoped whatever warmth he had inside of him, he hoped it would go to her.

“Spike, what are you doing back there?” Willow demanded. He ignored her. “Fine, I’m coming back there.”

Spike shot up, but not because he was listening to Willow. He stumbled back against the wall. “Bloody hell!”

“Spike, what happened?” Willow demanded.

* * *

And yes they’ll ask you where you’ve been

And yes you’ll tell them again and again

* * *

“I don’t know, ah!” he screamed. “It feels like something inside of me is pounding,” he sighed.

“Oh my-“ Willow said and stepped back from him.

“What, what?” Spike demanded.

“I think you’re alive!” Willow yelled. “Spike,” she frowned. “Did you hear me? I think you’re alive!”

“So is she,” Spike whispered.

“What, Spike, pay attention!”

“Red, her eyes are open.”

* * *

And you probably don’t wanna hear tomorrow’s another day

Well I promise you you’ll see the sun again

* * *

“I find this all very strange,” Giles sighed rubbing his head.

“For the last time, will you call the little sis!” Spike snapped.

“I don’t think we’ll be taking advice from you, you performed the ritual with out even telling us. You could have killed yourself!” Xander cried. “Did you have any idea what the side effects were? You’re human!”

“Yeah, well, we don’t know that,” Spike snapped. “She has a right to know, she’s her big sister for crying out loud!”

“Look, okay, none of us are real sure what’s going on,” Willow said. “Okay, so let’s just calm down.”

“Willow, you were going to do this spell and you didn’t know what was going to happen?” Anya asked placing her hands on her hips.

“No, I knew something would happen, I just wasn’t real sure,” Willow shrugged. “Now we know,” she smiled.

“Know what?” Tara asked.

Willow suddenly became very interested in a magic book.

“Buffy, Buffy can you hear me?” Spike ignored the others, who seemed pretty annoyed.

Buffy looked around. “Me-Who-Who’s Buffy? Who are you?”

“Great, she’s pulled a Passions on us,” Spike sighed.

“A what?” Xander demanded.

“Let me check your pulse,” Willow ordered.

“Never mind,” Spike mumbled. He pushed some hair off of Buffy’s face.

Buffy gently pushed his hand away. “I don’t understand,” her voice quivered.

“Do you remember anything? 2+2, any of it?” Spike offered.

“I don’t understand, I don’t know what that means!” Buffy yelled.

“It’s almost as if she’s been re-born,” Giles said.

“For the last bloody time, call Dawn!”

* * *

And you’re asking me why pains the only way to happiness

And I promise you you’ll see the sun again

* * *

Part Three

“You know you have to wake up sometime.”

“What are you doing here?

“I came to see you.”

“But you-your…”

“I know, but I promise, it’ll be okay.”

* * *

“Spike you’re worried about Dawn freaking out on us because Buffy’s back? Don’t you think she’ll notice you standing in the sun?” Xander asked.

“Well yeah,” Spike shrugged. “Since I preformed the sodding ritual, it might as well be me who tells her.”

“Yeah, but you don’t even know what the ritual is.”

“Neither do you,” Spike rolled his eyes.

“What’s that?” Buffy asked pointing to a patch of flowers on the grass.

* * *

Come on take my hand

We’re going for a walk I know you can

* * *

“Those are flowers, they’re supposed to smell pretty,” Xander said.

“Can I have one?” Buffy asked.

“Sure,” Xander nodded. No one was real sure what to do about Buffy. They let her ask pretty much anything and they answered every question. It took all weekend just for Buffy to understand the simple fact of two plus two. Xander felt awful for her. She had to relearn he whole life all over again. She didn’t understand up and down, but was worse was she couldn’t remember any of them. Not even Dawn.

“So, why did we not get Dawn this weekend?” Spike demanded.

“We were busy trying to figure out what was the deal with you,” Xander reminded him.

“What is my deal?” Spike mocked.

“We don’t know,” Xander sighed rolling his eyes.

“Well that was good that you wasted a whole weekend so you know nothing,” Spike said running his fingers through his hair.

“School out,” Xander said hoping that they’d just drop the topic. “Now, let me get Dawn over here, we don’t want to scare her.”

“No of course not. I mean the fact that a former vampire is standing in the day light, and her sister, who was dead, is now picking flowers, no what makes you think that would scare her?” Spike demanded. “Bloody hell, no wonder it took you lot a whole year to come after me.”

“Weren’t you supposed to change when you became human?” Xander demanded. He held his hand up, trying to get Dawn’s attention.

“Oy! Little Bit! Mini Buffy, over here!” Spike yelled.

“Nice Spike,” Xander snapped. He watched as Dawn’s eyes widened as she turned around. She started to head towards the two of them. “Give her a heart attack.”

“Spike! Are you insane? Do you want to be the big pile of dust for the rest of your life, and whoa! You’re not on fire, why are you not on fire?” she yelled.

“Magic shop,” Xander offered.

“Oh, no, you’d better explain right now!” Dawn ordered.

“I think you want to be in the magic shop when you hear this, trust me,” Xander nodded.

“No, I want to know what I missed this weekend!”

“Hey, you, come on,” Xander ordered to Buffy in the grass. “Time to go.”

“And I’m mean?” Spike snapped.

“Xander who are you…talking, talking, to,” Dawn stopped her words slowly as if she couldn’t understand what she was saying. “Xander, Spike, what is going on?”

“What is that?” Buffy asked pointing to the flowers she had picked. “Fl-f-fl-f?”

“Flowers,” Xander nodded. “That’s right, flowers, you were close.”

“Xander!” Dawn snapped. Tears were slowly forming in her eyes. “What is going on?”

* * *

“So, you just found out how to wake her up?” Dawn asked. “And Spike got to do it.”

“I didn’t mean to, it was an accident,” Spike admitted.

“And the side effect is that you become human?” Dawn asked.

“We aren’t sure why he became human,” Willow admitted. “We aren’t sure of much lately.”

“I haven’t even had time to plan my wedding,” Anya sighed. “Oh, I’m sorry Dawn, that was not appropriate,” Anya added quickly.

“It’s okay,” Dawn nodded. “Does she even know who I am?” she asked.

“No, she doesn’t know who anyone is,” Spike said. He watched her sleep. “She doesn’t know who she is.”

“So, what do we do?” Dawn asked.

“Don’t you have homework?” Spike asked.

“Yes,” Dawn admitted.

“Go do it,” Spike ordered.

“But-“

“Go,” Spike said and pointed to her backpack. “Go!” he repeated.

Dawn frowned and opened her backpack. She gave Spike and dirty look and started writing.

“Nice,” Xander nodded.

“Thank you,” Spike said and pushed her hair off of Buffy’s face.

“It’s amazing. No matter how obvious she made it. No matter how much she said, I can’t love you. You still loved her,” Xander said.

“Don’t you,” Spike asked looking up at Xander.

“Do you still?” Xander asked.

“You don’t stop loving a person, just because they are gone,” Spike pointed out.

“Okay, you’re being deep and insightful. That’s wrong, your, being deep, I’m leaving,” Xander said and stood up. “You’ll be here?”

“Not like I’ve got any place to be,” Spike said, as Xander left. “I’ll be here forever.”

“No you won’t, your human now,” Dawn said. She walked over towards him and sat down. “We don’t live forever.”

“Shouldn’t you be doing homework?”

“I’m done,” Dawn smiled.

“Are you tired?”

“Aren’t you?” Dawn asked. “You’ve been awake forever.”

“Yeah, but you should go to sleep,” Spike said and watched Dawn to lay down next to her older sister. “I’m always here.”

* * *

“Spike!” Willow cried. “Spike! Spike!”

“Shh, we’ve got sleeping ladies back here!”

“What, oh never mind that! I figured it out! I figured it out that, why you turned human!” Willow cried.

“Enlighten me,” he ordered.

“Okay, here, I didn’t read the fine print of the spell. It’s like who ever performs the spell, gets something from the person they wake up, as a gift. It’s as if they know what you want, and I guess you wanted this, so Buffy gave it to you. A part of her humanity. And she’ll grow it back, but you’ll always have this part of her,” Willow finished.

“So, she did, she made me human?” Spike asked. “When I preformed, whatever the sodding ritual is?”

“Right, unconsciously,” Willow nodded. She looked down at Buffy and Dawn sleeping. “Sorry,” she whispered.

Spike nodded. “Thanks Buffy.”

“You know she’ll wake up someday,” Willow whispered.

“Yeah, I know, and she’ll remember too,” Spike nodded.

“She’ll remember, and she’ll know,” Willow added.

“You think I’m doing this to get into Buffy’s good graces? No, I’m doing this because I miss the old Buffy. I miss the Buffy who used to give me a good ass kicking when I needed it.”

“Spike, you don’t have to lie, we’ve all done things to be loved.”

“Listen, this isn’t so I can get a date with her. This is for her, the person. And Dawn, I like the little one.”

“Sure Spike, sure,” Willow nodded, then she left.

* * *

You can wear anything you want as long as it’s not black

Don’t mourn forever

She’s not coming back

Part Four

“So, weekend,” Dawn nodded. “Friday night, any plans?”

“Wedding plans?” Anya offered smiling.

“Anya, give it a rest,” Willow said, flipping through a magic book.

“But I-I have things to do, about the wedding,” Anya protested.

“Don’t worry, you’ve got plenty of time,” Tara promised.

“But, what if I become old and wrinkled, and yet Xander and I still aren’t married?” Anya demanded.

“This is the group that stopped the world from ended how many times?” Spike asked.

“Shut up,” Xander ordered. “We just need to party, we haven’t done that in awhile, right, Giles?”

“My idea and your idea of a party are quite different,” Giles reminded him.

“That’s right,” Xander said. “Well what about all us cool, hip people go party tonight? You can come too Spike,” he offered.

“That’s great, thanks mate,” Spike snapped sarcastically.

“Don’t call me mate,” Xander warned.

“Right…mate,” Spike nodded. Xander groaned. “Maybe we shouldn’t go. I mean Buffy isn’t exactly herself.”

“He has a point,” Willow nodded.

“Willow, you’re supposed to agree with me!” Xander protested.

“Oy, gee, maybe you’re losing your touch, mate,” Spike snapped.

“Do we have to take him?” Tara asked.

“Let’s just stay here and plan weddings,” Anya offered.

“Patrol! Someone has to patrol!” Giles reminded them. “And I have to mind the store.”

“Buffy!” Xander cried.

“Huh, what?” Buffy asked sitting up.

“No, we could take her on patrol, maybe she’d remember something!” Xander said.

“Oh yeah, that’s smart,” Spike said rolling his eyes. “She doesn’t even know she’s got powers.”

“She’s right there,” Dawn snapped. “She’s in there. She may not remember anything, but she’s still Buffy. She just can’t remember her life, or anything she learned,” she explained.

“Right! So we should take her onto patrol!” Xander nodded. “Help her remember stuff.”

“What if she gets hurt? Are you really this stupid?” Spike demanded.

Dawn rolled her eyes. “Well Spike, so she doesn’t get hurt, why don’t you sit with her?”

* * *

And yes they’ll ask where you’ve been

And you’ll have to tell them again and again

And you probably don’t wanna hear tomorrow’s another day

Well I promise you you’ll see the sun again

* * *

“There have been no vampires,” Xander sighed. “This was bust.”

“Vampire?” Buffy frowned. She hated it when they used words that she didn’t know. Even though she didn’t know a lot of words.

“Evil, bad,” Tara explained.

“Ugly,” Willow added.

“Oy! Hey!” Spike snapped.

“They’re a lot like dogs, they smell like them,” Xander nodded.

“I hate you lot,” Spike warned. “Don’t listen to them,” he said turning to Buffy. “Some are quite nice. And some, are very handsome.”

“Why do you care, you’re not even one anymore,” Tara reminded him.

“Yeah, but I was, and my fabulous looks didn’t change,” Spike reminded her.

Tara rolled her eyes. “Should we do another sweep?”

“Na, if they aren’t coming through here, they’re can’t be many. Buffy you did a good job,” Xander said.

“Thank you, huh?” Buffy frowned.

“She was never this polite before,” Dawn laughed. “You know, I am going to be emotionally scarred thanks to tonight,” she sighed.

“What are you talking about?” Xander demanded.

“Well, I’m sitting on a grave stone, do you know how appealing that is?”

“So am I, what’s your point?” Spike asked.

“What great memories I have to share with my children,” Dawn sighed.

“What was that?” Spike demanded, his head snapped up.

“What’s going on?” Buffy asked quickly.

“Slayer instinct, she must hear something,” Xander nodded.

“I hear it too,” Dawn nodded.

“Okay, I get why the Summers clan can hear it, but why can Spike?” Tara asked.

“That’s a good question, I wish-oh, okay,” she nodded. “Vampires.”

“What?” Xander frowned.

“Behind you!” Willow pointed.

Xander spun around to find a gang of vampires staring at him, looking at him right in the eye. “Right, okay. You know, what, maybe we should talk this out, calmly, passively, have a drink. Oh, that probably wasn’t the best thing I could say, was it?”

“Slayer,” one of the vampires growled.

“Huh?” Buffy asked.

Dawn leaped in front of her sister. “That’s right, so just walk away, and we won’t hurt you,” Dawn snapped.

“Right, like we’re scared of you little girl,” another vampire growled.

“You should be,” Tara said. She staked the vampire, who then crumpled to dust.

“Whoa!” Xander yelled. “Yow!”

“Really?” Tara asked.

“Slayer!”

“Very good,” Spike nodded.

“Spike, you used to be one of us.”

“That’s right, I believe I did.” He punched the vampire hard in the stomach. The vampire keeled over.

“Spike, how did you do that, you don’t have any vampire strength now?” Willow demanded.

“Nice Red!” Spike snapped as another vampire lunged him. Spike kicked the vampire and staked him.

Buffy screamed. Her eyes widened.

“Buffy, shh, calm down, it’s okay,” Dawn nodded.

“What’s going on over here little lady?”

A vampire attacked Spike from behind. Spike ducked and laid a roundhouse kick onto the vampire’s stomach. The vampire pushed Spike over and stood over him. Suddenly, in a few seconds, the vampire was covered in dust. “Thanks mate.”

“I told you not to call me that.” Xander held out his hand to help Spike up.

“Spike! Xander!” Dawn cried. Xander and Spike exchanged glances and raced over. They kicked the final vampire off of Dawn and staked up.

“You two make a good team,” Willow said as she brushed herself off.

“Yeah, you’re not so bad yourself,” Xander nodded.

“Buffy, where’s Buffy?” Spike demanded.

“She was, oh G-d, Buffy!” Dawn screamed. She bent over her sister, who’s eyes were half opened, and blood was slowly coming out of her neck.

* * *

And you’re asking me why pains the only way to happiness

And I promise you you’ll see the sun again

* * *

“She’s still got a pulse,” Tara nodded. “She’s still alive, let’s get her back to the magic shop,” she suggested.

“Right, good,” Spike nodded. He took his coat off and pressed it to her neck.

“I don’t see any signs of her mixing blood with another vampire. She should be okay, she’ll be okay Dawn,” Willow nodded.

“Here, you take her head, I’ll take her feet, Giles has some stuff at the magic shop, and worse comes to worse, we’ll take her to the hospital,” Xander nodded as Spike slowly lifted her head up off the ground, still pressing the jacket to her neck.

* * *

“How was the patrol?” Anya asked as the magic shop doors opened.

“Giles!” Dawn screamed. “Giles, first aid stuff, now!” she ordered.

“Dawn, what’s going on?” Giles cried running from the back.

“Giles, now!” Dawn begged.

“I’m getting it,” Anya said and darted under the counter.

“Hey, I’ve got you, you’ll be okay, I’ve got you,” they heard Xander coaxing Buffy from the doorway.

“Sorry,” Dawn sighed. She shoved all the books off the table.

“What is going on?” Giles demanded.

“Bloody hell, Red, will you stop?” Spike demanded.

“I’m sorry, I just, I have to-“ Willow said.

“No, sorry, nothing bloody bad,” Spike smiled as he lay Buffy down onto the table. “Nice work Little Bit.”

“I’ve got the first aid kit,” Anya cried and handed it to Tara, who began patching up her neck wound.

“What happened?” Giles demanded.

“It’s not that bad, don’t worry, she’ll be okay,” Tara nodded. “Just a bite, they didn’t get that much. You know, just so they could say they bit the slayer. She’ll be fine.”

“What happened?”

“They’re was no way she had enough time to drink, not a chance, she would have been gone already,” Spike said.

“How would you know?” Willow demanded.

“Hey, I used to do this for kicks. What?”

“Yuck, never mind,” Willow said shaking her head. “Right now, we need to find out, what is going on with you. You’re human, and now you’ve got super powers or whatever, I find this all very strange,” Willow nodded.

“Willow, later,” Spike said.

“I have to do something!” Willow cried. “And I don’t know what to do about Buffy, so I figured I might as well figure out what the hell is going on with Spike!”

“Willow, it’s okay,” Dawn said and took her hand.

“What is going on?” Giles yelled.

“Buffy got bit,” Spike said quickly. “I told you she shouldn’t have come.”

“Shut up, that’s not helping,” Xander snapped.

“I’ve got it!” Willow cried. She looked at the magic book she was reading. “Spike, you’ve got slayer strength!”

“What?” Spike demanded. “You pick the worst times to have ideas.”

“No, listen, see, you got your “humanity” from Buffy. So that means you got some of slayer Buffy too!” Willow yelled. “I think,” she frowned.

“Wil, could you, uh, do something else right now?” Xander asked.

“There all patched up,” Tara smiled. “She’s going to be fine Dawn.”

* * *

And I promise you you’ll see the sun again

* * *

“I wish this hadn’t happened at all,” Giles sighed.

“Well, it would have if you all had listened to me,” Spike snapped.

“That’s really not helping,” Xander sighed.

“Sorry mate,” Spike smirked.

“I told you not to call me mate!” Xander yelled and held up his hand to hit Spike.

“You two, that’s enough.”

“Buffy!”

* * *

Do you remember telling me you found the sweetest thing of all

You said this day was worth dying for

So be thankful you had her at all

But it’s no more

* * *

“The ritual, you must have performed it again Spike!” Tara yelled.

“He didn’t,” Willow nodded.

“What was the ritual?” Spike demanded.

“Well, you know Snow White?” Willow asked.

“Yeah, what’s this all leading up to?”

“Wil, just come on,” Xander nodded.

“Remember how the prince woke Snow White up?” Willow asked. “It’s like that.”

“You mean Spike he-“ Anya whispered.

“That makes him the prince!” Xander yelled.

“What in hell are you talking about?” Buffy demanded.

“Buffy! It’s her!”

Part Five

“You think we’re dancing?”

“That’s all we’ve ever done.”

“Dancing, that’s all we do.”

“So, when’s it time to dance?”

“It’s always time to dance.”

* * *

“Spike, come on in,” Dawn smiled.

“Well, I don’t need an invite anymore, but thanks Little Bit,” Spike laughed.

“Don’t call me that,” Dawn sighed.

“Why does no one like my bloody nicknames?”

“Spike! What are you doing here?” Buffy demanded from the stairs.

“I came to wish you ladies well, see what was going on with the Summers ladies,” Spike smiled.

“Right,” Buffy frowned. She walked down the stairs.

“So, how are you Dawn?” Spike asked.

“I’m fine, and you Spike,” Dawn nodded.

“Come in,” Buffy snapped yanking Spike by the shirt and slammed the door.

“Give him a chance, he’s nice, and he’s into you,” Dawn whispered. “Well, then, I’ll be going upstairs!”

“Okay,” Buffy nodded. “Sit.”

“What’s with the orders?” Spike demanded.

“I have something to say. Many things. Now, sit still and be quiet and you may actually understand this. Willow told me about the stuff.”

“Well, now I know what-“

* * *

And you probably don’t wanna here tomorrow’s another day

Well I promise you you’ll see the sun again

* * *

“Don’t interrupt,” Buffy ordered. “Now, she told me about how a part of me, is in you. Which is really gross, so I don’t want to think about it to much, but just enjoy being human, we’re both on second chances here. And you only get one of those.”

“Yeah, then comes third chance,” Spike nodded.

“Don’t interrupt,” she warned with a stern look. “Next, despite what everyone says, I understand why you took care of me and Dawn. Yes you love me, but you love Dawn as well. Thank you. I owe you from the bottom of my heart. No matter what, you’ve stood by Dawn, and that’s the best thing you could have done for me. Now, listen. You’ve been fantastic, with our without a soul, and I find that, well, words can’t express what you’ve done for us. Do not interrupt. And I know that everyone thinks that you did it because you’re in love, I don’t. I think you did it because you love. There’s a difference. And that makes me wonder, how much you’re in love with me. Now, as crazy as this sounds, your starting to grow on me Spike. Ever since you got yourself beaten up for Dawn, that was real, real love. For us. As humans, and it’s made you, well it’s made you more human. And ever since then, I’ve been starting to fall, hard for you. I’ve even been dreaming about you. Even when I didn’t have a clue of who or what I was. Spike, I’ve been dreaming about you! So, I’m going to ask you something, and then I want you to go and think about it, very hard. Think about it as if your life depended on it. And then I’ll give you my answer. Understand?”

“Yeah, I, oops, not interrupting,” he sighed. Dawn stifled a giggle from the doorway.

“Dawn, are you listening?” Buffy demanded. Nothing. “She’d better not be. Now, Spike, promise me you’ll think about this. Okay, good. Spike, do you love me, or are you in love with me?”

“What kind of question is that?” Spike yelled.

“Go think about it,” Buffy ordered and pointed to the door.

“But, but-“

“Go, I’ll see you later,” she sighed. Spike frowned and with out another word left the house.

“Why didn’t you ask him out?”

“Dawn!

And you’re asking me why pains the only way to happiness

And I promise you you’ll see the sun again

And I promise you you’ll se the sun again

The magic shop some how seemed different to him. Maybe it was the fact that Spike was in the shop and no one was attacking him with a baseball bat. Maybe it was the fact that Dawn was actually doing her homework with out being told. Maybe it was the fact that Tara was working on a brand new spell. Maybe it was the fact that Willow was reading a non-magic book. Maybe it was the fact that Anya was counting the money. Or maybe it was the fact that they all knew Buffy, the real Buffy would be in later.

“Xander!” Anya cried. She smiled. “What’s going on? Are you done with work?”

“Yes, for today,” Xander nodded.

“Good because we have big, lots, and lots, of wedding plans that have-“ Anya began.

“Who, what, with out me?” Buffy demanded.

That was it, Xander suddenly realized. The magic shop was back to normal, that’s what was so different.

“Hey, uh, Buffy?” Spike asked. “I’ve thought about what you said, and I’ve got the answer.”

And I promise you you’ll see the sun again

“Oh, you’re moving out of town, oh please?” Xander cried clasping his hands together.

“Sod off mate,” Spike growled and walked towards Buffy.

“I told you not to call me that,” Xander warned. The entire magic shop, customers included were all staring at Buffy and Spike.

“Well, Spike?” Buffy demanded. “You can’t just say a thing like that and not expect a person to get annoyed when you don’t answer. Spike! This is really-“ Buffy’s rant was stopped short by Spike’s lips slowly pressing onto hers. He placed his hand on her cheek, and pushed some hair of her face. Buffy smiled and kissed him back.

And I promise you you’ll see the sun again

“Buffy, those are Spike’s lips! Spike’s!” Willow yelled.

“Well, is that good enough answer or do I have to spell it out for you? I mean, hanging with this lot, it drops your IQ, trust me,” Spike said after pulling back. “Well, what’s your answer?”

Buffy leaned in and kissed him back. She pulled out after a few seconds. “So, is that good enough or do I have to spell it out, I mean-“ Buffy mocked.

I promise you you’ll see the sun again

Okay, Xander though, as close to normal as they could ever get.

* * *

See the sun again

See the sun again

See the sun again

See the sun again

See the sun again

See the sun again

See the sun again

“Shut up,” Spike ordered and kissed her. Buffy didn’t pull back for a long time.

See the sun again…

Til the End of the World
