THE ROAD BACK

TRIVIA
In what seems to be an unusual move, the credit for Ron Soble is about twice the size of anyone else's. To my knowledge, this is the only time in all of the live-action Filmation series where one guest artist has a much bigger credit than the rest. Maybe someone on the production team was a fan of Westerns, or a personal friend...

GUEST ARTISTS
Christopher Stafford Nelson
and Derrel Maury were discussed in the trivia section for part one of this story, Lure of the Lost.

Ron Soble (Brok), despite his prominent guest-star credit, was not an extrememly huge star, although he worked from the late '50s through the late '90s. This Chicago native got his first screen role on TV in Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse. On the small screen, he was only a series regular once (in The Monroes), but put in a lot of guest appearances, mostly in Westerns, including Rawhide, The Texan, Bonanza, Have Gun-Will Travel, Gunslinger, Laramie and The Virginian. He also appeared in the Wild West episode of Star Trek ("Spectre of the Gun") as Wyatt Earp. Some of his other roles were on such shows as The Rookies, Mission: Impossible, Kung Fu, Planet of the Apes, Streets of San Francisco, Police Woman, Charlie's Angels, CHiPs, Matt Houston and Knight Rider.

In feature films, Soble appeared in such movies as "True Grit", "Chisum", "Papillon", "When You comin' Back, Red Ryder?", "Street Corner Justice" and "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo", in an uncredited role as a judge.

"Bigalow" proved to be Soble's last screen appearance. Just threee years later, in May, 2002, he died of lung and brain cancer.
