James Jackson: Is
this guy
for real? 8-8-2001
The question on everyone’s mind this off-season is about
James Jackson. James Jackson was the Browns third round selection with the 65th
overall pick. Jackson is 25 yrs old he stands 5’10” and weighs in at 209
lbs. Jackson was a stand out performer at Miami (Fla).
Two other players, one of
which was Edgerrin James, only surpassed his rushing marks. During his career
with the Hurricanes Jackson rushed for 2,935yds on 541 carries. Jackson could
have made a run at the all time record but was hampered by injuries his red
shirt and junior seasons with the Canes. However, in the 2000 season Jackson
started every game at running back.
Well then it brings the question of why is he so confident that he will be able
to do so well in the NFL? Well Butch Davis said that James Jackson has
tremendous upside. He is a hard worker and a leader on and off the field.
Productive as a third down receiver who shows soft hands and long arms when
needed. Jackson has the ability to move the pile and fight for extra yards up
the middle, but also has the second gear to break away. Uses leg drive even when
holes are clogged up. And that he is a gamer, someone who will give 100% even
when he is not 100%.

James Jackson or about the Browns in general. Have any other comments, questions

Anthony
Henry has shown bright thus far. 8-18-01
If
you’ve been watching the Browns pre-season games (and I sure hope that
you have), you probably noticed the spectacular play of the Browns
defense. Then as a contributing factor you may have notice a kid named
Anthony Henry, who all ready has two interceptions in his very short NFL
career. Henry was drafted by the Browns this year in the fourth round.
Henry played for South Florida and despite putting up good numbers never
got very much recognition.
At
the start of the season, due to the depth of young talent at defensive
back, Henry was not expected to even make the team. But shortly after
hearing that, Henry had something to prove after getting an interception
in his debut against Green Bay. Henry was no stranger to success either;
he started all four years at South Florida including being an
all-independent second team choice as a red shirt freshman.
Over
the course of his successful career at South Florida, he recorded 256
tackles (169 solos), and ten interceptions. Not only did he have a place
on the field, but also Henry now holds a place in the history books at
South Florida as last year he broke the record for 8 pass thefts for 118
yards in return.
Henry
was born November, 3 1976 in Fort Myers Florida. Attended Estero high
where he was a star athlete, named Lee County athlete of the year, and
district player of the year, as a senior. He holds s various track
records, and lettered as a starting cornerback, free safety, Quarterback,
and punter (41.6 yard average). He was also the team MVP in basketball.
The 6’0, 198 lb, Henry has been questioned due
to injuries, since he is playing on a surgically repaired knee, but his
intensity and hard-hitting abilities, hope to outweigh the doubts of
skeptics everywhere. “Ant” as he is nicknamed, hopes to lead a young
squad of Browns defense to success, and keep members of the dawg pound on
their feet for many years to come.
