It had been a typical day for
the cast of Whose Line Is It Anyway? Each of the men had
been in their dressing rooms, preparing for the show.
Ryan Stiles was finding the 'proper' shoes to wear. His best friend,
Colin Mochrie, was trying to find the 'proper' Hawaiian shirt
to wear. Many fans admired their sense of style and they didn't
want to disappoint them. Wayne Brady was warming up his voice,
and Drew Carey was practicing his jokes. All typical.
"Attention! All actors report to the soundstage," a
voice had said over the brand new P.A. system. Executive Producer,
Dan Patterson, had decided to put it in because everyone kept
showing up on stage late. This cost the network valuable time
and money.
The four men proceeded to the stage, all chatting about something
other than that night's show.
Drew had grabbed his microphone and shimmied up the stairs, located
in the audience's seating area, while the other three, Ryan, Colin,
and Wayne took their seats. Greg Proops was that night's guest.
He was already out there on stage in his usual chair.
"Good evening, everyone. Welcome to Whose Line Is It Anyway?
On tonight's show...I don't think we're in Kansas anymore,
Greg Proops! Follow the yellow brick road, Wayne Brady!
I'll get you my pretty, Colin Mochrie! And if I only
had a heart, Ryan Stiles!* I'm your host, Drew Carey. C'mon
down and let's have some fun."
Meanwhile, three girls in their late twenties had arrived to the
studio late. "I told you we should've taken the express lane!"
Cher Tyson, one of the girls, said angrily. She was accompanied
by Janine Meyers and Jamie Kilpatrick.
"Well, excuse me for being conservative!" Janine shot
back.
"Look, let's just go in and have a seat. We'll pretend this
never happened," Jamie said. She was clearly the most rational
of the three.
Each of the three had met online, and this had been their first
trip together. They got along just fine, although Janine and Cher
did have their differences.
"May I help you ladies?" a short, stubby man asked pleasantly.
He had a very kind look on his face.
The girls towered over the man, which made him quite difficult
to see. Jamie turned and faced him. "Yeah, we're here to
see Whose Line."
The man frowned. "I'm sorry girls. The set has just closed.
Why don't you try back here in forty-five minutes or so?"
"But we have tickets to see this show!" Janine pleaded.
"We'll just re-new your tickets, but until then, I'll have
to ask you to step outside," he said. Then he turned and
disappeared as quickly as he had appeared.
"I don't believe this!" Cher groaned. "All this
way to wait another forty-five minutes!"
"Just chill, will ya?" Janine said. "Let's just
go outside."
Cher and Janine started to turn around, but then Jamie smiled
mischievously. "Wait, since we're here, we might as well
look around."
"And then what? Get in trouble with that little guy?"
Cher asked.
"We're not going to do any harm. We'll just say we got lost,
that's all." Jamie winked. The other two girls looked at
each other and shrugged.
"Alright, since there's no harm in looking," Janine
hesitated.
The three of them turned the corner and proceeded to walk down
the hall, hoping not to run into a security guard, or that little
guy they decided to call, "Shrimpy."
