Part 5
“I never get to have any
fun!” iluvbirkoff whined as she leaned back in her chair. “I’m the
freakin’ weapons expert, yet I never get to see any action myself. It’s
like . . . I don’t even exist here.”
Sage looked at the pale blonde and shook her head. “Hey, you aren’t
the only one sitting here, you know. I would have liked to have
accompanied Birkoff to a bar.”
“But you’re the leader.” iluvbirkoff insisted. “At least everyone
here likes you. They respect you. You’re important to the
organization. I’m just another dumb blonde that didn’t meet up to
Section standards . . . so I was sent here.”
“I thought you just couldn’t keep your hands off of Birkoff.” Raine said
with a smile.
iluvbirkoff shrugged. “All I ever wanted was for the Babes to welcome
me. But I’m always stuck behind on our missions. I mean, yes, I am
very good at computers. Birkoff trained me himself. But . . . is it
too much for me to ask for just a little bit of fun?”
Sage sighed. “If you want to have a more active role, you must take a
more active role. Let us get to know you.”
“I’ve been a part of this group for over two years.” iluvbirkoff replied.
“Next time I want to be on the main team.”
Sage shook her head. “I’ll think about it . . . if there is a next
time.”
“Ummmmm . . . .guys?” Ann said, turning away from her computer screen and
looking at the other three Babes that were so unfortunately told to stay behind.
“It looks like Gap and Katoa’a are heading our way.”
“Just the two of them?” Sage questioned, leaning forward. Sure enough,
two green blips showed on the computer monitor mapping out the roads around
them. A red blip was with them as well.
“Is that Sandy or Jess?” Raine asked, pointing at the red blip.
As if an answer to prayer, Sage’s cell phone rang. Sage jumped and
rushed over to her bag that harboured her favourite piece of equipment. She
flipped open the phone and paused for a moment. “Hello?”
“Sage, its Majken.”
“I can hardly hear you, Majken.” Sage shouted. She felt the eager eyes
of iluvbirkoff, Ann and Raine upon her. “Where are you?”
“Still at the bar.” Majken replied. “Adriana is getting Birkoff away
from Jess. I think Gap and Katoa’a are in trouble.”
“They are on their way back here with . . . well, I guess it’s Sandy.”
Sage told her.
“You don’t think they’d lead her right to our make-shift headquarters, do
you?” Majken went on. “I mean, I know that Katoa’a had a lot to
drink, but I thought she was just playing drunk again. And I know, or at
least I hope, that Gap was smart enough to lead her somewhere else.”
Sage laughed. “We’re in luck. Sandy made Gap drive.”
Majken giggled lightly. “We’ll call you once we’re away from
Jess.”
“Okay.” Sage replied, snapping her phone shut. She looked at Ann.
“Try to get a location on where they are hiding. Raine, prepare
the car. Luv, get the weapons.” She smiled at the girl.
“What about you?” Raine inquired.
“I’m getting the necklace.” Sage said as she turned. The rest of the
girls went to prepare.

“Birkoff?” Adriana said as she delicately poked his shoulder a few times.
Birkoff turned away from Jess, but didn’t stop swaying to the music.
“What?”
“I just heard the news.” Adriana said.
Birkoff gave her a quizzical look. “What news?”
Adriana shook her head. “It’s horrible.” She looked at Jess.
“Do you mind if I talk to Birkoff alone for a second?”
Jess gave her a suspicious look but finally agreed. “Don’t be long.”
Birkoff nodded as he followed Adriana a few feet away.
“Don’t panic . . . but the Oreos are gone.” Adriana told him.
“What?” Birkoff asked.
“Will you act shocked at least?” Adriana asked. “Gap and Katoa’a
have been taken by Sandy somewhere. If Jess is in on it, I don’t want
her suspicious. I just want to get out of here.”
Birkoff feigned mild disbelief and sudden sadness. He turned toward Jess
and lowered his eyes. Slowly, he walked toward her. “I’m sorry.
One of my best friends was just killed in an accident. I gotta
go.” He slowly turned away from Jess and allowed Adriana (who had no
problem with this part) to wrap her arm around him for support. They
walked toward Majken and exited the bar.

Sandy poked the gun into the back of the seat of the red convertible.
“Slow down.”
“I am driving slow.” Gap said, maneuvering the car off the sidewalk once
again.
“You’re a maniac!” Sandy said. “Pull over and let her drive.”
She motioned with the gun toward Katoa’a.”
“Oh, I don’t think that would be smart.” Gap said, stepping harder on the
gas peddle. “She had two strawberry daiquiris, remember?”
Sandy placed the gun firmly to Gap’s temple. “Get us there . . .
alive.”
With that said, Gap whipped into an empty parking lot a few blocks down from the
Babes make-shift headquarters. The car spun around in a complete 360º
turn. She killed the engine and sat quietly in the seat. Slowly, she
turned to look at Sandy, who had gone completely white, in the passenger seat.
Sandy motioned with the gun. “Get out of the car.” She motioned
to Katoa’a as well. “You too.”
“Hold on.” Katoa’a replied, swallowing hard. “I think I’m going
to be sick.”
“Not in the car.” Sandy remarked throwing open the door to the convertible
while keeping the gun trained on the two girls in the car.
“Out . . . both of you.”
Gap and Katoa’a slowly lumbered out of the car. They raised their hands
over their heads and waited for Sandy’s next order.
“You pull another stunt like that . . . either of you . . . and you are both
dead. Do you understand?” Her eyes glimmered with hate as she
motioned for them to walk. “Take me to the necklace.”

“We have a location.” Ann remarked. “Two blocks down . . . at the
old abandoned Oreo plant.”
“That’s Gap for you.” Sage said with a smile. “Always thinking
about those darn sandwich cookies.” She looked around at the other three
Babes that were left out of the fun at the bar. Her eyes fixed on
iluvbirkoff.
“Are you ready to get in on
the action?”
iluvbirkoff’s eyes lit up, as did Raine’s and Ann’s.
“I’ve got all the weapons we’ll need.” iluvbirkoff said. “Explosives,
guns . . . you name it.” A smile crept across her face. “And
mission gear.”
“Luv, you didn’t.” Sage remarked in disbelief.
iluvbirkoff opened up one of the black backpacks and pulled out the black
leather pants and black shirts and vests. “I sort of kept my Section One
wardrobe when they transferred me here.”
“I knew you’d come prepared.” Sage said. “Now it’s our turn to
get in on the fun.” She picked up the car keys and turned around. “Let’s
go get our girls.”

And now . . . on to Adriana!
Hope that was okay. I had fun anyway.
