FENCING

<RD Rivero>  Good evening and welcome everyone.  I'm joining you from the basement of the Cat's Lair where the Olympic Fencing match is just about to get started.  Joining me tonight will be our commentator Thundercub.  Thundercub, it's good to have you here.

<Thundercub> Good to be here.  Just try not to kill anything.  We wouldn't want a diplomatic incident.

<RD> Err... right.  Anyway, our competitors look like they're about to get started.  Thundercub, why don't you give us a quick run down of who we're about to see.

<Thundercub> Gladly.  First of all, we have Lion-O and the famous Sword of Omens.  Little need to embellish there.  We're all well aware of what that Sword can do.  Then there's Mumm-Ra who will be wielding the Sword of Plun-Darr.

<RD> A clear favorite.

<Thundercub> Actually, no.  Lion-O is the favorite.  Then there's Rataro and the Rat's Eyes.  Watch for him to lay low during the first part of the match and then come up strong at the end.  The Snowman of Hook Mountain has a pair of ice daggers from his home fortress.  Nothing substantial there, but he does have sheer mass on his size.  TugMug is sporting the Lunar Blade, a relic found in Skytomb's attic.

<RD> Skytomb has an attic?

<Thundercub> Yes, Skytomb has an attic and no, there are no items of torture up there.

<RD> I wasn't going to ask about torture!

<Thundercub> Of course not.  Anyway, little is known of this Lunar Blade and it may well turn out to be the upset in this match.  And finally, Mandora, the Evil Chaser First Class, has brought with her a pair of Control Regulation Daggers.  I really don't know much about them except for the fact that they meet all kinds of regulations.

<RD> Hence the name, I suppose.  Officiating for this match are Hammerhand and Mumm-Rana.  Comments?

<Thundercub> Mumm-Rana isn't going to let Mumm-Ra get away with anything, I can tell you that now.  Hammerhand, though, is more likely to let things slide.

<RD> Thanks, Thundercub.  And we're about to start.  Mumm-Rana and Hammerhand are moving away from the arena.  And there's the signal!

<Thundercub> And the Cat's Signal, too.  Lion-O is using this at the start of the match to give him extra power.  He hopes he can take out some of the lesser opponents quickly and then concentrate on the more dangerous ones.

<RD> And it looks like it's working.  TugMug has lost the Lunar Blade.  Lion-O's bearing down on him fast and...is that the gravity carbine?

<Thundercub> Apparently so.  Mumm-Rana's teleporting TugMug out of the match now.

<RD> But he got a shot off.  Lion-O dodged, stupid cat, but Mandora was in the line of fire.  She's pinned to the floor.  Look at those daggers of hers!

<Thundercub> I didn't know shields were regulation.  Will they allow that?

<RD> Ha!  The question is academic.  There goes Mumm-Ra.  One quick blast from the Sword of Plun-Darr and Mandora is out like Tygra at the end of "The Destruction of Tygra."

<Thundercub> We're plugging fics now?

<RD> Just one.  Now Rataro and Snowman are battling it out in one corner.  Snowman has the bulk, but Rataro's Rat's Eyes are powerful.  They kept melting down Snowman's ice.

<Thundercub> Snowman needs to be more aggressive.  Rataro can take potshots at him all day, but Snowman's weapons aren't built for that and they won't last.

<RD> No, they certainly won't.  And look, Lion-O and Mumm-Ra are circling each other, too.  With the exception of Mumm-Ra being all powerful, it looks like an even match.

<Thundercub> And there goes Snowman.  His ice blades just couldn't last against laser heat.  Now Rataro can choose to team up with Lion-O against Mumm-Ra or with Mumm-Ra against Lion-O.  The Sword of Omens will probably be the deciding element in the match.  I would team up with Mumm-Ra.

<RD>  Doesn't look like he's teaming up with anybody.

<Thundercub> Okay, I guess there's a third option.  Try to take them both on.

<RD> Well, at this point, Rataro is assured a medal.  I wonder if he's just trying to make a political statement, now.

<Thundercub> It's a short-lived political statement.  Lion-O and Mumm-Ra just blasted him through a wall.  Tygra's not going to be happy about that one.

<RD> Heh, probably not.  Now it's down to--WAIT A MINUTE!

<Thundercub> And in a surprise move, Lion-O reveals a mirror on the underside of his Clawshield.  Mumm-Ra is whithering away before it.

<RD> Where are we in the season?  This isn't supposed to happen!  Mumm-Ra should be fine with his own reflection!

<Thundercub> Surprises aren't over yet, because Mandora is back in the ring.  Wasn't she out?

<RD> How can Lion-O stand there looking so smug with a mirror?  That has got to be the lowest trick in the book.  I hope the Code of Thundera materializes into a large ax and smashes his skull apart.  Hey...sounds like a story idea!

<Thundercub> I think I'm on my own for the rest of this match.  And evidently, Mandora was never out.  Her regulation daggers are able to cast images and we only thought she was blasted into oblivion.  Interesting.  Now she and Lion-O are teaming up to take on Mumm-Ra.  Mumm-Ra is backing away, but those heavy robes of his are becoming a problem.

<RD> I think I'm going to be sick.

<Thundercub> Just don't do it on me.  And--wait a minute.  Lion-O has just turned on Mandora!  The cop wasn't expecting it and she was blindsided with the Eye of Thundera.  What a punch.  She's down like a mutant.  Wow.  Talk about power.  Now Lion-O's back to Mumm-Ra and...what's this?  Mumm-Ra has disappeared!  Is this allowed?

<RD> Heh heh heh.  Mumm-Rana didn't look like she'd allow it, but she was just knocked out by her fellow officiator Hammerhand.  And Hammerhand is allowing it.

<Thundercub> Lion-O's in trouble now.  He can't see Mumm-Ra and Mumm-Ra has all the time in the world.  Lion-O is attempting to use Sight Beyond Sight...

<RD> HA!  He took too long!  Mumm-Ra comes up from behind and knocks him sprawling!  What a fight!  Mumm-Ra is the victor!

<Thundercub> Listen to that crowd.  They are not happy.  Protests are going up all around, but Mumm-Rana is unconscious and Hammerhand is already leaving.

<RD>  Ah, the sweet sounds of vicotry.  Let's go down to our reporter on the field and get some post-game reactions.  Thundera Tiger? You there?

<Thundera Tiger> Right here.  How's the view from on top the jungle gym?

<RD> Just great.  Now, perhaps you can tell us why Mumm-Ra wilted at the sight of his own reflection?

<Tiger> How should I know?

<RD> This is your olympics.

<Thundercub> And why weren't the Thunderkittens in this event?

<Tiger> Sorry, they'll be in next week, I promise.  And as for Mumm-Ra, you can ask him yourself.  Here he is.  Now Mumm-Ra, when Lion-O whipped up his Clawshield, what was your first reaction?

<Mumm-Ra> That stupid whelp will pay for his insolence.

<Tiger> I should have known.  And what happened after that?  What were you thinking?

<Mumm-Ra> I am Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living.  I challenge any who dare to oppose me.  The mirror was a momentary setback, and then I rose up in all my hideousness and struck down the cub while he cowered before me.

<Tiger> Deep thoughts.  Is there anything else you'd like to say to the fans, Mumm-Ra?

<Mumm-Ra> I am Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living.  I challenge any who dare to oppose me.  You would be wise to leave now, or you risk the wrath of my arcane powers.  You shall rue the day you ever crossed me.  You shall--

<Tiger> I don't think he's stopping in the near future, so I'll just pass the buck back to you RD.

<RD> I can't believe it.  Mumm-Ra wins, and Thundera Tiger writes him like an idiot.  Why me?

<Thundercub> Serves you right for plugging stories during the broadcast and continually killing Tygra.  Anyway, thanks for joining us folks, and be sure to stay tuned for more olympic action from the Thundercat Olympics.
