Funimation Funimation has done a fair job of dubbing the dbz characters, that is syncing the speech to the mouth movements. Although, what really pisses me off is what they make the characters say, and how even slightly different translations can alter the whole story of the series. I will now show you some comparisons and non-sensical plot holes which funimation makes: Plot holes: Funimation: When Piccolo fires his special beam cannon at Radditz, Radditz barely dodges it and Piccolo, surprised, comments that Radditz must be faster than the speed of light. THE SPEED OF LIGHT??!! No one, not even the Z fighters can move that fast even in the Buu saga. I guess Radditz must be the fastest character in the whole series... Freiza says that he was only using 1% of his power. Hmm...how is that possible? Goku was having some troubles as it was, but if Frieza can become 100 times more powerful than he already was, then that would make him have a power level of over 100 000 000. I don't think so. The power levels do get that high, but not until later, and meanwhile the planet is going to blow up in 5 minutes? time must move a lot slower in the DB world because those five minutes span 7+ episodes which are about 20 minutes each. In the Cell games, if the Cell jr.'s are as powerful as Cell is, then why can Gohan kill themin an instant with out even trying and he has to go all out nearly killing himself when he fights the real Cell? Comparisons Funimation: When Goku is fighting Vegeta, and Vegeta shows Goku the transformation of a saiyan with the moonlight, Goku comes to the realization that it was Vegeta who stepped on his grandpa gohan. This doesn't make sense because Vegeta wasn't even introduced yet and was on a space station training. Real: Goku realizes that it was not Vegeta, but himself who had stepped on his grandpa, killing him. WTF things In the world tournement saga, I just couldn't believe they changed the word "kill" to the word "hurt". Like when Vegeta comments on what Trunks is going to do to Mr. Satan (Hercule, funimationized), he says, "Trunks is really gonna hurt that guy". COME ON. He says something like pulverize or destroy in the uncut english version. Same with the tournement rules, where the announcer says you will lose if you unfortunately hurt your opponent. I felt like vomiting. You can't hurt your opponent? HURT?? IT'S A GOD DAMN FIGHTING TOURNEMENT!!!!!!!!!! THE WHOLE POINT IS TO HURT YOUR OPPONENT. THATS LIKE SAYING YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO RUN IN THE 100 METER SPRINT!!!! Vegeta also says to Krillin that Supopovich was holding back his blast because he knew that if he hurts Videl, he'll lose. SHE'S IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM AFTER FOR GODS SAKE!!! What they all really say is "kill" instead of "hurt".
