Dante & Lulu #8 February 2 - May 24, 2011: 8 Hour Original Edit DVD #8A Dante seemed a bit dazed as he entered his loft and then sat down on the sofa. Memories of Michael's sentencing ran through his mind until someone knocked on the door. It was Carly. "You look upset. Have you talked to Michael?" she wondered as she walked in. Dante confirmed that he knew that Carter had raped Michael. Carly had no idea how Dante had to nerve to look Michael in the face after what Dante had done. Dante apologized, but that only fueled Carly's rage. Dante admitted that Michael should never have gone to prison, so Dante took full responsibility for what had happened. Carly's anger mounted as she explained that Michael was living a nightmare because of Dante. Carly picked up Dante's gun from the coffee table and then pointed it at him. Dante invited her to pull the trigger because she couldn't possibly hate him more than he hated himself. 2/3 At the loft, Carly let Dante know that she could get away with shooting him because Jason would get rid of Dante's body. Dante warned Carly to make sure that Jason did a good job because Dante didn't want Michael to suffer by watching his mother arrested for murder. "Shut up," Carly shouted at Dante. She thought that if she killed Dante then Michael wouldn't have to live with a lying hypocrite who had sent Michael to prison. However, Carly acknowledged that Michael had bonded with Dante, so she intended to let Dante live. Carly planned to take satisfaction in knowing that Dante suffered with the knowledge of what he had done to Michael. Dante vowed that he would do right by Michael. Carly didn't care because she promised to make Dante hurt as much as Michael had. Dante explained that he had turned Michael in because he had hoped to spare Michael the pain and guilt of living with a cover-up. Carly wasn't moved; she pointed out that Dante had to have known what would happen to an eighteen year-old boy in prison. Carly argued that Dante should have taken steps to keep Michael safe by arranging for Michael to be put in protective custody. It infuriated her that Dante had let Jason go to jail to watch over Michael instead of confessing to his own crime to look out for Michael himself. According to Carly, Dante had deserved to sit in jail, not Jason. Their talk was cut short when Michael arrived home. Michael immediately sensed the tension between Dante and Carly, so he asked them what was going on. Carly plastered on a saccharine smile as she claimed that she had stopped by to talk to Dante about encouraging Michael to go to therapy. Michael reminded his mother that he had already agreed to go. Carly insisted that she was just being overprotective. She gave Michael a quick peck on the cheek, thanked Dante, and then left. Michael continued to have questions about what he had walked in on, so Dante told Michael about the 2007 cover-up of Aleksander Janacek's death. Dante regretted that he had turned Michael in for a similar situation. Dante apologized to Michael for messing up Michael's life. Michael reminded Dante that Dante had already apologized. Dante hated himself for being self-righteous about the whole thing; he couldn't believe that he had actually commended himself for getting Michael out of jail. Michael wanted to move forward. He told Dante that they both had to live with the consequences of their actions, but it was too late for Dante to make Michael hate him. Maxie and Lulu went to Jake's to talk about Lulu's relationship with Dante. Maxie wondered why Lulu and Dante hadn't worked things out. Lulu admitted that Dante had merely been comforting Brenda after Brenda had a meltdown, but Lulu wasn't ready to forgive him for the lies. Maxie urged Lulu to reconcile with Dante, which made Lulu suspect that Maxie had regrets about her own breakup with Spinelli. Maxie didn't deny it. They continued to talk until Lulu finally agreed to see Dante. Dante was surprised when Lulu showed up at the loft. He told her that he was a liar and a hypocrite, who had been wrong about everything, so he thought that she was better off without him in her life. Lulu wondered what had set Dante off on the tangent. Dante explained that Michael continued to suffer because of Dante's decision to turn Michael in for killing Claudia. Lulu was confused because it didn't appear to her that Michael was struggling. She suggested that Dante was "an ass" if he believed what he had said. 2/4 Dante told Lulu that he didn't deserve the honor of being a cop or having Lulu in his life, because he was a hypocrite. Lulu consoled Dante and told him that everything he'd done was with good intentions. She reminded him that Michael had been unjustly sentenced, which was not due to Dante's actions. "Giving up is not the right answer," Lulu declared. "Sometimes it is," Dante replied, and added, "That's what's happening with us, right?" Not wanting to put more pressure on Dante, Lulu left it up to him whether they should reconcile or not. As Maxie and Sam shared a table at Jake's, Lulu arrived and stated that she and Dante had left their relationship status up in the air, because Dante was having a bad day. "Yes, well, getting dumped will do that to you," exclaimed Maxie. Sam got dizzy when she tried to stand up to get another round. "Maybe you're pregnant," Maxie teased. Sonny went to Dante's and told him that Carly had shared the truth about Michael. Sonny knew Dante had known that Michael had been raped. Michael arrived and saw his father and brother talking. He assumed that Dante had told Sonny what had happened. 2/7 Sam, Maxie and Lulu conversed at Jake's. When Sam felt dizzy and nauseous. Maxie suggested that she might be pregnant and would not let her order a drink until she got a pregnancy test. Sam dismissed the idea that she might be pregnant because the odds against it were so great, but Maxie said someone had to be that one in 10,000 and it might as well be Sam. Sam took Maxie's advice to heart and left to purchase a pregnancy test. Dante sat down at a nearby table and Maxie encouraged Lulu to go talk to him, but Lulu refused. Maxie went instead. However, Lulu followed her over, so Maxie left Dante and Lulu alone to talk. Lulu asked about Michael and also wanted to know if Dante had resigned form the force. Dante said he was still on the force, but should resign because he was such an arrogant hypocrite. Dante blamed himself for Michael's rape. Lulu told Dante that he had done what he thought was right at the time. She offered her hand and encouraged Dante to leave the bar with her. 2/8 Lulu and Dante entered the loft moments later. Dante apologized for interrupting Carly and Michael, but Michael didn't think that it was necessary. Dante wondered if Michael and Sonny had been able to have a good talk. "Yes," Michael assured Dante. Lulu picked up on the tension in the room; she confessed that she didn't know what was going on, but she explained that Dante had been thinking about quitting the police force. Michael demanded to know why Dante would do that. Dante explained that he was filled with remorse for not being able to protect Michael. Michael argued that Dante was a good cop. Carly warned Dante that the grand gesture could hurt Michael because Michael's parole had been granted in part because Dante was a police officer. Dante assured Carly that Michael's parole was secure, but Carly wondered if Dante could guarantee that. Dante realized that Carly had a point, so he backed down. After Carly and Michael left, Lulu wanted to know what was going on. Dante tried to avoid the question, but Lulu quickly put the pieces together when she realized why Michael might need therapy. Lulu was stunned when Dante confirmed her suspicions that Michael had been raped. Lulu admitted that she had thought that Sonny's name and Jason's presence would protect Michael in jail. Dante explained that Michael had been attacked prior to Jason's arrival. Dante told Lulu about Franco's diabolical plan and the tape that Dante and Jason had found while on the hunt for Franco. Dante admitted that he had talked to Michael about the tape, but that he had readily accepted Michael's denials of being raped. Dante confessed that he would always be haunted by the knowledge that he bore some responsibility for what had happened to Michael in Pentonville. Lulu insisted that Dante could make amends by being the best cop that he could be. Dante appreciated her advice; he assured her that he truly did love her. "Then you know how to prove it," Lulu told him as she left. Michael returned to the loft, where Dante was struggling with his own thoughts about Michael's rape. Dante let Michael know that Lulu had figured out what had happened to Michael in jail. Michael took a moment to absorb the news and then revealed that Lulu was the first friend that Michael had made after waking up from the coma. Dante promised that Lulu wouldn't tell anyone. Michael trusted Lulu to keep quiet, but he revealed that the therapist thought that Michael should talk about it because it would help Michael to move forward. Dante admitted that he wanted that more than anything for Michael. Michael was surprised when Dante opened up about seeing a therapist after Dante had killed someone on the job. Dante confessed that it had helped him. Michael revealed that he appreciated that his therapist had been the only person who hadn't tried to take responsibility for what had happened to Michael. Michael realized that it was Franco's fault. Dante tensed when Michael wondered if Dante knew where Franco was. Dante warned Michael that going after Franco wasn't the answer. 2/9 At the loft, Michael defended his desire to make Franco pay for the rape. Dante warned Michael that going after Franco would play into Franco's hands, so Dante prayed that Michael never found the serial killer. Michael argued that he wasn't helpless. Dante explained that revenge was a trap; one day Michael would wake up and realize that he was no different than the man Michael wanted to destroy. Michael realized that Dante was talking about Sonny, not Franco. Dante revealed that his mentor had been killed years earlier and that Dante had always believed that Sonny had been responsible for the murder. Dante recalled confronting Sonny about Detective Poletti's murder, but Sonny hadn't recognized the name. Dante admitted that was when Sonny had shot Dante in the chest. Michael pointed out that Dante had been given an opportunity to make Sonny pay for the crime by accusing Sonny of pulling the trigger. Dante explained that he had wanted to take Sonny down as a cop, not a victim. Dante then admitted that he had told the court about Michael's role in Claudia's death because Dante had hoped to take Michael away from Sonny. Dante had wanted to prove to Sonny that there had been a right way to handle the situation instead of covering up Claudia's death. Dante wanted Michael to let the law deal with Franco, but Michael argued that the law hadn't stopped Claudia or Franco. Dante insisted that vigilantism wasn't the answer. According to Dante, the justice system worked more than it failed. Michael wondered why, if that were true, Dante had decided to resign from the police force. Michael insisted that Dante was a great cop and that it was clear that Dante believed in the law. Michael also pointed out that Lulu supported Dante's career. Dante conceded that Michael was right, so he agreed to keep his badge on the condition that Michael would allow the police to deal with Franco. Lulu was surprised when she bumped into her father at the Metro Court Restaurant. She had no idea that he had returned to town. Lulu sat down at Luke's table as Luke confessed that his marriage to Tracy had hit a snag. Lulu quickly surmised that it had to do with the stolen jewelry. Luke was startled that Lulu had known about the heist. He explained that he had decided to hang out at the hotel for a while to give Tracy some time and space to cool off. Luke then changed the subject to find out how things were going between Lulu and Dante. Lulu revealed that she had caught Dante in a lie, but she was tempted to take Dante back. She acknowledged that she hated that he had lied and that she felt a bit threatened by his connection to Brenda, but Lulu loved Dante. Luke advised Lulu to know what she was getting into before working things out with Dante. According to Luke, Lulu should be prepared to accept Dante for whom he was because people didn't change. Later, Lulu went to the loft to talk to Dante. Michael explained that Dante had stepped out for groceries, but she was welcome to wait. Lulu entered the loft and then tried to talk to Michael about the rape; however, she seemed unsure how to broach the subject. Michael sensed what was on Lulu's mind, so he let her know that Dante had told him that Lulu had figured everything out. Lulu expressed her sorrow for what Michael had endured in jail. Michael made it clear that they didn't have to discuss it, but he wanted her to know that Dante had decided to remain a police officer. Michael was glad that Dante had someone like Lulu to talk to. Lulu admitted that Michael had every right to be angry at the people who had sent him to jail, so she wondered why Michael wasn't upset with her and Dante. Michael admitted that he had been mad for a while, but he understood that Dante always tried to do the right thing. Michael started to tell Lulu how upset Dante had been over the breakup with Lulu, but Dante arrived home. Lulu smiled as she admitted that she had heard that Dante was still a cop. Dante joked that he knew that she had a thing for men in uniforms. Dante wondered if Lulu was ready to forgive him. Lulu coyly suggested that it was too soon to tell, so Dante invited Lulu to stay for dinner. Lulu seemed reluctant to agree until Michael urged her to stay as a favor to him. After Lulu agreed, Dante acknowledged that he owed Michael. 2/10 At the loft, Lulu was frazzled as she tried to make plans for a special Valentine's Day date with Dante. Michael had no idea what Lulu had planned, but he offered to help if she needed it. Dante entered the loft moments later and immediately picked up on Lulu's tension. Lulu explained that she needed help with Spinelli. According to Lulu, Spinelli was depressed because Maxie had moved on with Matt, so he needed some men to talk to. Lulu wanted Michael and Dante to spend some time with Spinelli to get Spinelli's mind off of Maxie. Dante wanted nothing to do with it, but Lulu refused to take no for an answer. After Lulu left with promises to send Spinelli over, Dante made plans to go to the gym and then to work. Michael realized that he needed to keep Dante at the loft, so he insisted that Dante stay because Michael didn't have any experience with breakups. Dante didn't think that he would be much help to Spinelli because of Dante's recent split with Lulu, but Michael disagreed. At Pozzulo's, Lulu begged Spinelli to help her by going to Dante's loft to tell Michael and Dante how terrible he felt about his breakup with Maxie. Spinelli wasn't eager to share his heartbreak with Dante, but Lulu insisted that she needed Dante to stay occupied while she made arrangements for their evening. Spinelli wondered why he should help Lulu when he didn't support her relationship with Dante. Michael was desperate to keep Dante at the loft, so he suggested that perhaps things were not as over with Lulu as Dante had thought. Dante was curious about the remark, but Michael was spared from having to explain himself when Spinelli arrived. Dante tried to leave, but Spinelli began to babble about the misery of a broken heart. Dante found himself trapped at the loft with Michael and Spinelli. As time slowly passed, Spinelli resorted to reciting poetry about lost love. Michael ran for the door when someone knocked. Michael was relieved to see Lulu; he announced that he and Spinelli were free to leave. Meanwhile, Dante went to the door to find out what was going on. Lulu, dressed in a gown and wrap, held up two tickets and then invited Dante to join her for a night at the opera. Dante smiled. 2/14 On Valentine's Day, Lulu and Dante were in a limo headed to New York to the opera. Lulu told Dante that the opera was about a woman who stabbed her lover in the heart after finding out that he had lied to her. They talked about their own situation and laughed. When they reached the opera, they had box seats. They held hands as they listened to the opera. Once back in Dante's Port Charles loft, Dante joked that he hoped the next opera they went to had a happier ending. Lulu said she had to go and kissed Dante on the cheek. Dante grabbed her and gave her a passionate kiss. Lulu responded 2/15 At the loft, Lulu decided to leave after Dante had kissed her. Dante didn't want Lulu to walk out on their Valentine's Day date, so he offered to pour some wine. Lulu refused to stay, prompting Dante to wonder if she were trying to leave him wanting more. "Is it working?" Lulu asked as she walked out of the door with a smile. Later, Dante was surprised to bump into Lulu on the sidewalk. Lulu confessed that she hadn't been able to sleep, so she had decided to get something to eat. Dante revealed that he had a recording of the opera that they had seen earlier that evening, so he invited her to his place to listen to the opera while they sipped on some wine. Lulu agreed to go home with Dante; however, she made it clear that she would only stay for half an hour. At the loft, Lulu smiled blissfully as the opera music filled the room. Dante stared longingly at Lulu as he confessed that she was beautiful. Dante understood that Lulu had to protect herself, but he asked her not to close her heart completely to him. Dante realized that he had betrayed her; however, he insisted that it didn't mean that it would happen again. Lulu softened towards Dante when he told her that he loved her. She confessed that she loved him too. Dante smiled and then kissed Lulu. 2/16 Lulu arrived at Kelly’s. Luke explained that he hadn't been able to find anyone to cover for Mike, who had cut his hand while working in the kitchen. Luke persuaded Lulu to help out. Later, Luke was thrilled when the last of the customers had left. Lulu suggested that Luke could close Kelly's the following day in honor of Sonny and Brenda's wedding. Lulu then revealed that she would be attending the wedding with Dante. Luke was surprised to learn that Lulu and Dante had patched things up. Luke was curious how she felt about Dante's lie. Lulu admitted she had been upset, but it had not been the end of the world. Lulu gave her father credit for the reconciliation. She realized that he had been right when he had told her that people didn't change, so a relationship didn't stand a chance if she couldn't accept people for who they were. Lulu sensed that Luke wasn't happy about her decision to work things out with Dante, but Luke made it clear that he wouldn't interfere. However, he warned her that the more she invested in the relationship, the more she would be hurt if things didn't work out. Luke insisted that life had a way of dealing from the bottom of the deck. 2/17 At the Archer Pavilion, Jason and Dante discussed the various security measures that had been taken to keep the Balkan from kidnapping Brenda. Dante was impressed with the tight security, but he continued to have a bad feeling. Dante arrived at Greystone Manor to pick up Sonny. Dante appreciated that Sonny had always made an effort to reach out to him after Sonny had learned that Dante was his son. Sonny thanked Dante for putting his badge on the line for Brenda after she had shot Aleksander. Sonny confessed that, in a way, Dante had made it possible for Sonny to be with Brenda. Sonny couldn't thank Dante enough for that. Michael arrived a short time later. Michael revealed that he had been worried that Carly would return to do something to stop the wedding. Sonny assured Michael that he wasn't concerned about Carly and then changed the subject to let Michael know that Dante and Sonny had just had a heart-to-heart talk. Sonny wanted Michael and Dante to know that he was proud of the men that they had become. 2/18 Once dressed for the wedding, Dante, Sonny, and Michael excitedly headed toward the venue. Lulu met Luke outside of Kelly's as Ethan arrived, dressed for the wedding. Lulu was surprised, but Ethan explained that Kristina had asked him to attend, and he didn't want to disappoint her. Luke urged Ethan to be careful of Kristina and reminded him of the false allegations she'd lodged against Ethan the previous year. Ethan responded that he and Kristina remained friends and mentioned that Maya was on-call at the hospital and wouldn't be able to make it. Olivia arrived with Steven as Lulu, Luke, and Ethan walked in. Dante and Lulu kissed, prompting Luke and Ethan to go elsewhere. Olivia caught the two lovebirds. She said seeing the couple together again warmed her heart. Sonny and Dante noticed that Jason was a no-show, which worried them both. 2/21 Inside the chapel, Dante told Sonny that they had not heard from Jason. Sonny and Dante joined the group in the vestibule as Edward continued his rant against Sonny. Sonny tried to go to Brenda, but the girls stopped him and said it was bad luck. Brenda appeared in the vestibule and smiled at Sonny. Edward went back inside after calling the wedding a travesty. Sonny hugged Brenda. He and Dante went back to the chapel. The guests were relieved when the wedding music began. Molly walked down the aisle, followed by Kristina, who hugged Sonny. The guests stood as Jason and Brenda entered the chapel. Brenda was smiling as they walked down the aisle and met Sonny at the altar. As part of the very touching ceremony, Morgan gave a heartfelt speech welcoming Brenda to the family. She had tears in her eyes as she thanked him. When the minister asked if anyone objected, all eyes turned to Carly, including Brenda's. Brenda looked at Sonny and said she was sorry. Tears were streaming down her cheeks when she said that she had to object. 2/22 At the Archer Pavilion, Brenda stopped the wedding. Sonny was stunned as he asked her, "Why?" "Cause if I don't, Carly will," Brenda explained. Sonny looked accusingly at Carly as he demanded answers. Carly was unrepentant as she slowly started to pull a folded document from her purse. "I have it covered," Brenda assured Carly. Brenda revealed that Carly had a document, which proved that Brenda had an affair with Dante in 2007. Sonny turned to Dante for Dante's denial, but Dante remained silent. Sonny's anger mounted as he realized the reason for Brenda and Dante's odd behavior over the previous few months. "You slept with him? With Dante?" Sonny asked in disbelief. Brenda began to weep as Sonny demanded to know if Brenda would have told him if Carly hadn't learned the truth. "No, because none of it is true," Brenda answered. Carly produced the custody papers to show to Sonny. Dante took the papers from Carly and then explained that Carly had told the truth as far as Carly knew it; however, Dante revealed that Brenda's child hadn't been his. Dante denied that he and Brenda had ever had an affair, but he did admit to claiming to be the child's father and then relinquishing all rights to the child. Dante confessed that he had met Brenda when she had needed protection from a man who had been stalking her. According to Dante, the stalker had been the child's father. Dante had signed the papers, so that the man's family couldn't get their hands on the child. Carly snorted as she accused Dante of fabricating a convenient lie. Sonny shouted at Carly to shut up and sit down. Brenda immediately began to apologize to Sonny for not telling him about the baby. Brenda acknowledged that it had been selfish of her and that she wasn't good enough for Sonny. Brenda realized that Sonny was disappointed in her, but she wanted him to know that she loved him and always would. Brenda started to leave, but Sonny called out to her. Sonny remembered what he had felt like when he had run out on Brenda during their last wedding. Sonny acknowledged that it had been the biggest mistake of his life, so he didn't want to repeat it. Brenda feared that Sonny would never be able to forgive her. Sonny insisted that he wanted to because it had screwed up his life not to trust the one person that he had loved the most. Sonny was curious why Brenda couldn't trust him. Brenda admitted that she had been terrified that Sonny would leave her. Sonny argued that her father had been the one to leave her and that her father had been wrong to tell Brenda that she hadn't been worth loving. Sonny declared his love for Brenda and then promised that he forgave her. Brenda's eyes filled with tears as Sonny asked her to marry him. Brenda threw herself into Sonny's arms as she happily accepted the proposal of marriage. Moments later, Sonny and Brenda returned to the altar, where they exchanged vows and then wedding rings before being pronounced "husband and wife." Everyone, except for Carly and Lulu, erupted in applause as the happy couple kissed. 2/23 At the Archer Pavilion, guests applauded as Sonny kissed his new bride and then led her to the reception area. Guests quickly followed. Dante waited for Lulu to join him, but Lulu pointedly avoided Dante. Dante continued to keep an eye on Lulu, but Lulu refused to go near Dante. Olivia pulled her son aside to talk to him about the custody papers that Carly had uncovered. Dante made it clear that he didn't have any regrets. Olivia admitted that it bothered her because Dante's new "stepmother" had taken advantage of him. Dante glanced at Brenda to see that Brenda was glowing with happiness as she smiled at Sonny. Lulu approached Carly to find out why Carly hadn't told her about Dante and Brenda's secret. Carly wondered if Lulu would have believed her. Later, Dante sought out Carly to get some answers. Dante accused Carly of using the custody papers to punish Dante for sending Michael to Pentonville. Carly clarified that she had exposed the secret because she cared about Sonny. Dante was stunned that Carly hadn't considered how it would hurt Lulu. Carly considered it an added benefit if Lulu broke things off with Dante. Dante vowed that Carly wouldn't destroy what he had with Lulu. Carly smiled wickedly as Dante stormed off. Dante went to look for Lulu, but Tracy blocked his path; she warned Dante to stay away. Later, Dante banged on Lulu's apartment door as he begged her to let him in. Dante knew that she was home, but Lulu didn't respond. Dante decided to shout that he hadn't slept with Brenda. Lulu yanked the door open and then pulled Dante into her apartment. She was mortified that he had shared their private business with her neighbors. Dante realized that Lulu had every right to be upset. He invited her to vent, so Lulu punched Dante in the face. 2/24 At Lulu's apartment, Dante rubbed his sore jaw as Lulu informed him that he had deserved the punch. Lulu was hurt that Dante hadn't told her about the baby. Dante explained that he hadn't thought that it had been important because he had never had sex with Brenda, the baby hadn't been his, and Brenda had suffered a miscarriage. Lulu argued that she could never trust Dante, but Dante was certain that love would prevail. Lulu insisted that things always went wrong when love was involved. Dante wanted to prove Lulu's theory wrong. He was certain that Lulu was afraid to love; it bothered him that he had given her reason not to trust in it. Lulu suspected that she had set the bar too high because she expected perfection. Dante didn't think that it was wrong for her to want honesty in a relationship. He assured her that he was committed to making things work, so he asked her to meet him part of the way. Lulu wanted to make their relationship work, but she confessed that she wasn't ready yet to take that step. Dante agreed to give Lulu some space, but he reserved the right to fight for her love until she could trust him again. They admitted that they loved each other and then Lulu watched Dante leave as she dissolved into tears. Dante returned and approached Sonny and Brenda to apologize for ducking out on the reception. Sonny wondered how everything had gone with Lulu. Dante assured them that he was working on it. Brenda admitted that she was happy to be related to Dante. She couldn't believe that he had stood up during the wedding to explain everything. Sonny and Brenda thanked Dante for saving the day. Dante assured them that he just wanted them to be happy. 2/25 The guests dispersed while Sonny and Brenda made their exit. Sonny helped Brenda into the limo and, as he prepared to walk to the other side, the car exploded. All were distraught over what they'd just witnessed. Everyone began to react to the shocking scene. Sonny broke down in tears. He attacked the limo driver and accused him of having been in on the hit. Michael helped Luke and Dante restrain his father. Lulu returned and told Dante that she'd been a coward, giving up happiness for fear of getting hurt. Dante beat himself up for having conned himself into believing that Brenda would have been safe. Lulu and Dante looked on as Sonny sat in a daze. Everyone stood around as the fire crew took Brenda's body to the ambulance. Sonny demanded to see her face. When he pulled back the sheet, it was Sam lying on the gurney. 2/28 At the Archer Pavilion, Jason was relieved to see that Sam was alive. Paramedics loaded her into an ambulance and headed for General Hospital with Jason following. Dante and Sonny speculated that Brenda was alive and being held captive. Dante said that the Balkan had finally slipped. He said that Theo probably expected Sam to be burned beyond recognition because he did not know about the last-minute bomb-proofing of the limo. Sonny agreed that Theo expected to have a long head start before anyone discovered that Sam was missing. Sonny said that Theo wanted Brenda so that he could take his revenge on her. Lulu greeted Dante with coffee. While recounting events that had led to the bomb exploding under the limo, Dante had an epiphany. He called headquarters and had them put out an APB on the catering truck, which had been parked near the limo. He thanked Lulu for helping him. She demurred that she had only been a sounding board, but Dante said that was what he had needed. Dante was apologetic when he told Lulu that he had to see it through. Lulu said that she understood. She said that she encouraged and supported him. They exchanged words of love. 3/1 Dante arrived at the police station to find Lucky hard at work. Lucky said that he was up to speed on what had happened to Brenda and Sam after the reception. Lucky had decided to review surveillance footage from security cameras in and around the Archer Pavilion. Lucky hoped to find something that might lead them to Theo. Dante warned Lucky that Sonny was on the warpath and would stop at nothing to find Brenda. Dante was curious about Lucky's trip to Ireland. Lucky gave Dante a brief recap and then offered to question Siobhan about any possible safe houses that Theo might have had. Dante was certain that Theo had taken Brenda to a place that no one knew of, so Lucky suggested that they focus on trying to find Theo's wife. "Wife?” Dante asked. Lucky told Dante about Megan's claim that Theo had a wife. Dante wondered if perhaps "Mrs. Hoffman" realized that her husband had an alter ego or that he had gone to such great lengths to avenge their son. Lucky and Dante agreed that Theo would eventually have to check in with his wife. They decided that Theo's wife could be Theo's weakness, so they had to find her. Morgan called Dante for help. Morgan and Michael were concerned when they spotted a car parked in Carly's driveway that they didn't recognize. Morgan feared that it might be the Balkan. Carly and Sonny argued about Shawn. Sonny intended to torture Shawn, if necessary, to force Shawn to tell him where Theo had taken Brenda. Carly insisted that Shawn didn't know anything. Michael quickly made his presence known when he entered the living room. Sonny and Carly tried to enlist Michael's help. Sonny wanted Michael to take Carly away while Carly wanted Michael to talk some sense into Sonny. Morgan called Dante and asked for his help. Dante arrived a short time later. Morgan quickly filled Dante in on what had transpired in the house. Morgan begged Dante to talk to Sonny before the man taped to the chair was killed. Dante asked Morgan to wait by the car and then headed to the house. In the house, Michael tried to talk his father down. Carly warned Sonny that if he intended to harm Shawn then Sonny would have to do it in front of Michael because she refused to leave. Sonny and Carly were startled when Dante suddenly appeared in the doorway. Dante explained that Morgan had called him. Dante urged Sonny to let the police handle Shawn and to save the vengeful mob stuff for another time. Dante implored Sonny to be a father. Sonny looked around the room and then quietly left. Carly removed the tape from Shawn's mouth. Shawn noticed that Dante hadn't called the incident in or asked if Shawn wanted to press charges. Dante doubted that Shawn was eager to answer questions about what had transpired. Dante decided to question Shawn about Theo. Shawn conceded that he had done some illegal work for Theo, but Shawn insisted that he wanted Theo found. Carly decided that Shawn should go to the hospital, so Dante agreed to take him. Lucky met Dante in the examination bay where Shawn was being treated for the gunshot wound. Dante quickly filled Lucky in on Shawn's situation and then asked Lucky to keep an eye on Shawn. Dante explained that he needed to find Sonny. Dante dropped by to give Sonny an update on Shawn. Sonny didn't want Dante involved because Sonny was certain that following the law wouldn't help Brenda. Dante disagreed. Dante reminded Sonny that Michael and Morgan had seen the worst of Sonny, so Dante urged Sonny to let them see the best. Dante promised that Theo would be held accountable by the judicial system. "Not if I get to him first," Sonny warned Dante. 3/3 At the Metro Court Restaurant, Lulu spotted Johnny at the bar. Lulu was surprised to see him drinking, so Johnny clarified that the drink was tomato juice to help with his hangover. Lulu was curious if Johnny had heard the news about Sonny and Brenda's wedding. Johnny explained that Sonny's wedding had been the reason that he had a hangover. Lulu realized that Johnny hadn't heard about the explosion, so she revealed that a bomb had been planted in Sonny's limousine. She quickly added that no one had died, but Brenda had been kidnapped. Johnny felt terrible for Brenda; he hadn't wished ill on Sonny's bride. Johnny was curious if anyone else had been hurt. Lulu told him that Sam had been pulled from the wreckage, but she hadn't been burned because Sonny's limousine had been bomb-proofed. Johnny realized that Theo probably hadn't realized that, so the intention had been to burn Sam beyond recognition. Johnny thought that it was extraordinary that nothing had happened to Sonny. According to Johnny, Sonny screamed, made accusations, and wrecked havoc, but when the dust settled, Sonny went on with his life. Johnny recalled the time that Kate Howard had been shot on the waterfront. Sonny had wrongly assumed that the Zaccharas had been responsible, so Sonny had kidnapped Johnny in retaliation. Johnny didn't think that Sonny would ever change tactics. He was certain that Sonny would wage a war on the city to find Brenda, and all that Sonny would gain from it was "gratification for his massive ego." Lulu admitted that she owed Johnny an apology for forgetting what he had been through. Lulu confessed that she had been wondering why Johnny had been sitting at the bar drinking, but she realized that he had been through some horrible things and that he had lost a lot of people. Johnny was flattered that she had even thought of him. Lulu insisted that she cared about Johnny. Johnny felt bad for how he had ended their relationship, but Lulu argued that it had been for the best. According to Lulu, it had gotten her to where she needed to be in order to meet Dante and accept him into her life. They chatted for a few more minutes and then Johnny left. At Greystone Manor, Dante entered the parlor as Sonny barked orders to Bernie over the phone and then slammed the receiver down. Dante assured Sonny that the police were searching for Brenda, but Sonny wasn't satisfied with that. Sonny insisted on doing things his own way. Dante warned Sonny that Sonny didn't have the right to turn Port Charles into a war zone in an effort to find Brenda. "Watch me," Sonny growled. Sonny refused to let anything get in his way, but Dante argued that Sonny's fear didn't mean that it was okay for Sonny to "break skulls." Sonny was curious why Dante was only interested in going by the book when innocent people, like Michael and Brenda, paid the price. Sonny immediately apologized for the cheap shot. Sonny then shifted gears to ask Dante to talk to Michael and Morgan about what they had witnessed in Carly's living room the night before. Dante refused to apologize on Sonny's behalf; he suggested that Sonny set an example by letting the police handle things. Sonny made it clear that he would not be stopped. Sonny offered to pay the tab if Dante took a leave of absence and then went on a long vacation with Lulu. Dante wondered if Sonny were seriously suggesting that Dante go to a beach to watch the sunset while Sonny stuck around town murdering people. "Yes," Sonny answered without hesitation. Sonny insisted that he would do whatever was necessary to find his wife. Later, Lulu entered the parlor. Dante realized that Sonny had called her. Sonny quickly told Lulu about his offer to send Dante and Lulu on an extended vacation. Sonny explained that he didn't want to fight with Dante, so he thought that it would be best for Dante to be far away from Port Charles until Brenda had been found. Sonny instructed them to let him know when they had made a decision and then left. Dante quickly filled Lulu in on what had transpired at Carly's house. Lulu reminded Dante that Sonny loved his children. Dante remained skeptical because Sonny refused to quit the business and set an example for Michael, Morgan, and Kristina. Lulu suspected that Sonny didn't want Dante to see his dark and vengeful side again. Dante was curious if that meant that Lulu wanted to accept Sonny's offer. Lulu explained that she simply thought that Sonny was trying to protect Dante. Dante disagreed; he believed that Sonny was trying to protect Sonny. Dante refused to let Sonny do as he pleased. Lulu wasn't surprised because Dante was "moral and ethical." Lulu wondered if Dante were prepared to arrest Sonny. Dante's phone rang before he could reply. It was Molly calling to let Dante know about Michael's decision to follow the man who had tried to kill Shawn. Dante immediately set out to search for Michael. Dante found his brother a short time later in an alley with the would-be assassin. Dante identified himself as a police officer and then ordered the man to put down his gun. "Back off or he's dead," the man warned Dante. 3/4 The man who'd attempted to assassinate Shawn held a gun on Michael, who made it clear that Sonny would kill the man should any harm befall Michael. However, Michael promised his captor that if the man were to tell Sonny everything he knew about the Balkan, Sonny would protect him. The man stated that he'd be killed if he revealed anything about Theo. Dante showed up and attempted to arrest the man. Michael rushed the man, and a shot rang out. Michael and the man struggled, but Michael wrestled the gun away. Dante handcuffed the assailant. Michael explained to Dante that the man had information on Brenda's whereabouts. At the police station, Dante questioned his arrestee, who worried that Sonny would take revenge, since both Dante and Michael were Sonny's sons. Dante left the man alone to go scold Michael. Michael defended his actions and said that he'd confronted the man to get information that could help rescue Brenda. Dante warned that Michael could have ended up in Pentonville if the wrong cop had shown up. Dante urged Michael to let the authorities handle the search for Brenda, but Michael refused to promise that he'd stay out of it. Sonny arrived at the police station, where he found Dante. Sonny asked Dante to let the suspect go so that Sonny's men could work the man over to get the facts that would lead them to Theo. Dante said he wouldn't break the law but that he and Sonny might be able to work together. Dante went back to the interrogation room and told the man that he was being released. Someone had paid bail, Dante informed him. The man refused, but Dante let Sonny into the room and left them alone. 3/7 At the Port Charles Police Station, Dante and Sonny questioned the thug who had pulled a gun on Michael. Sonny was menacing as he said that he was upset that his son had been threatened and his wife was missing. The goon said that he had been minding his own business when Michael had followed after him. Sonny said that the thought of anyone pulling a gun on his son made him angry enough that he wanted someone to suffer for the pain his family was feeling. As Sonny glowered, the ruffian asked for a lawyer, but Dante ignored him and said he was going for coffee. Before he could leave, Mac entered the door and wanted to know what was going on. After hearing Dante's explanation and the charges against Theo's henchman, Mac ignored the prisoner's pleas and left the hooligan alone with Dante and Sonny. Theo's thug was convinced that Sonny would harm him, so he told Dante and Sonny what he knew. He said that he had stolen a van, painted it to look like the caterer's, and then parked it next to the limo. He said he had helped another of Theo's men remove Brenda from the limo and put Sam there in her place. He said he had driven the van to the airport where Theo was waiting. The prisoner said that Theo and the thug had put Brenda in a car and driven back to town. The henchman said that he had torched the van and taken a cab back to town. He said that the reason that he knew that Theo was the Balkan was because before he drove away, Theo had told the thug he would call later with instructions. He said he had no idea where Theo was hiding out or where he was holding Brenda. Lulu had coffee for two when she arrived at the police station to see Dante. They talked about the leads on Brenda and Michael's encounter with the Balkan's man. Dante told her about the interview and said that he had found a middle ground with Sonny. Dante said that he did not know if he would ever figure out what he felt for Sonny. Dante said that he both despised and admired Sonny. Dante said that he was glad that he had not known that Sonny was his father when he was a child. He said that finding out Sonny was his dad was the best and worst thing that had happened to him. Dante said that Sonny was not what he had envisioned his father would be like and that they were opposites in every way. Dante said that despite everything, Sonny was his father, and they were bonded for life. After saying that, Dante paused and seemed to have an epiphany. He said that perhaps it was not revenge that Theo wanted, but information about his grandson. It occurred to Dante that Theo might think that his grandson was still alive. 3/8 At the police station, Dante and Lulu discussed various theories on why Theo had targeted Brenda. Dante suspected that Theo had kidnapped Brenda because Theo didn't believe that Brenda's child had been stillborn. Lulu was curious if Dante had proof that Brenda's baby was alive. Dante explained that he had been told that the baby had died, but he conceded that Brenda might have lied to protect the child from Theo. Lulu suggested that Dante had over thought things. Lulu pointed out that no one had known about the baby until the wedding. Dante argued that Olivia was the most honest person that he knew, but she had lied about Sonny for years to keep Dante safe. He acknowledged that he could easily envision Brenda doing the same thing. At Pozzulo's, Sonny was determined to crush Theo and then kill him and use him as an example to send a message to Sonny's other enemies of what happens when someone messes with his family. Dante entered the office in time to hear Sonny's intentions. Dante told Sonny and Jason about his theory that Theo had kidnapped Brenda to force her to tell him where her baby was hidden. Sonny feared that Theo would kill Brenda once Theo realized that the baby was dead. Dante returned to the police station to meet Suzanne. Suzanne assured Dante that she was eager to help, but she didn't understand how she could be of assistance when she had barely spent twenty minutes in Theo's company. Suzanne was surprised when Dante began to ask her questions about Brenda's baby. Suzanne admitted that she had been with Brenda when Brenda had fallen ill and then lost the baby. According to Suzanne, the baby had been buried in Africa. Dante found it curious that Suzanne's story had matched Brenda's version of events almost verbatim. He admitted that it sounded as if they had read from a script. Dante urged Suzanne to be truthful with him if she wanted to save Brenda. 3/9 At Pozzulo's, Sonny was on the phone, barking orders and issuing threats as Dante entered the office. Dante decided to ignore Sonny's outburst, so that he could update Sonny on the investigation. Dante revealed that Brenda's baby might be alive. Sonny refused to entertain the idea, even after Dante shared the details of his conversation with Suzanne, which had mirrored what Brenda had told him. Sonny was confident that Brenda would have told him everything when she had revealed the truth about her pregnancy to him. Dante argued that Suzanne's story hadn't deviated from Brenda's, which indicated that it had been rehearsed. Dante suggested that Brenda might have kept the truth from everyone to keep her child safe from Theo. Sonny continued to deny the possibility that Brenda had kept a secret from him. Dante thought perhaps Brenda might have been waiting for the right time to let Sonny know about the baby, but Sonny argued that Brenda would never have walked away from her own child. Dante stopped by to talk to Jason about the possibility that Brenda's baby might be alive. Jason had his doubts about Dante's theory, but Dante insisted that a parent would do anything to protect their child, even if it meant giving it up. Jason wondered why Suzanne would lie about the baby. Dante reminded Jason that Suzanne was all about helping Brenda, which meant that she would keep Brenda's secret. Jason acknowledged that the theory had some merit, but something seemed off. Moments later, Spinelli burst through the door with news. Jason asked to speak privately to Spinelli, so Dante excused himself. After Dante left, Spinelli revealed that he had cracked the case. Spinelli handed his laptop to Jason to show Jason a picture of Theo and his beloved wife, Stephanie Wayne, shortly after their 1976 wedding in Manhattan. Jason was stunned when he recognized the woman in the photograph as Suzanne Stanwyck. Spinelli speculated that Stephanie had changed her name when Theo became involved in criminal activity. Spinelli also believed that Suzanne had been Aleksander's mother. 3/10 At the police station, Dante called Agent Bates to request a quick background check on Suzanne Stanwyck. Lulu reminisced about their adventure in Ireland while Dante was put on hold. Moments later, Agent Bates informed Dante that there hadn't been any record of Suzanne prior to 1985. Dante thanked the agent and then ended the call. Lulu wished that she could help Dante with the investigation, but she explained that she had to get back to work. Seconds later, Dante's laptop beeped to indicate a new email had been received. Dante and Lulu read the email, which confirmed what Agent Bates had told Dante. Lulu remarked that Suzanne's name appeared to be an alias like Dominic Pirelli. Lulu was curious why Dante had gone undercover. Dante reminded her that it had been to gain access to Sonny. Lulu clarified that she had been looking for a more general answer. Dante was confused, so Lulu explained that people tended to create new identities to go undercover if they wanted to get closer to someone. Lulu wondered whom Suzanne had hoped to get close to. "Brenda," Dante immediately responded. Lulu and Dante tried to determine why Suzanne would work against Brenda and what Suzanne could be hiding about her life prior to 1985. Lulu then switched gears to question why Dante had lied about knowing Brenda in 2007. Dante blamed it on fear of losing Lulu and shame for covering up a murder. Lulu was curious if those motives might apply to Suzanne. Dante intended to find out, so he decided to seek Spinelli's help. Lulu offered to put in a good word for Dante, but Dante didn't think that it was necessary. He reminded her that he and Spinelli had bonded on Valentine’s Day when Lulu had asked Spinelli to keep Dante busy. Lulu couldn't believe that Dante had figured out that she had put Spinelli up to it. She kissed Dante and promised to meet him later that evening. At the penthouse, Jason insisted that Suzanne tell him where Theo had taken Brenda. Suzanne acknowledged that Jason was good to have discovered that she was Theo's wife. She confessed that she and Theo had spent a considerable amount of money to hide all traces of their wedding and marriage. "Quit stalling," Jason shouted. Suzanne promised to help Jason, but Jason didn't trust Suzanne. Spinelli decided to share the details of what he had uncovered about Suzanne's past. According to Spinelli, Suzanne and Theo had gotten married on May 25, 1976, during the bicentennial celebration in New York City. Spinelli had learned that Suzanne had been a journalist and that Theo had been an attorney on the rise, despite having dabbled in criminal activity. Jason accused Suzanne of spying for Theo, but Suzanne insisted that she had merely been trying to discover what had happened to her son, Aleksander. Suzanne explained that she and Theo had been frantic with worry when Aleksander had suddenly disappeared. Suzanne revealed that no one had been able to give them information, so she had struck up a friendship with Aleksander's ex-girlfriend. Suzanne was adamant that over time she had grown to genuinely care for Brenda; however, Theo had grown increasingly impatient. Jason was curious why Suzanne had reached out to him for help. Suzanne confessed that it had been to placate Theo and to protect Brenda. Suzanne admitted that Theo had recently convinced himself that Brenda's baby was alive. Suzanne offered to help them capture Theo, but Jason refused to allow Suzanne out of his sight because he was certain that she would try to warn Theo. Eventually, Jason, Spinelli, and Suzanne hatched a plan to lure Theo out of hiding. Suzanne let Jason know that he was asking her to betray the man to whom she had been married for most of her life. Jason warned Suzanne that Theo would turn on her, if he hadn't already. Jason and Suzanne were about to leave when Sonny arrived to let Jason know about Jules. Sonny was curious what Suzanne was doing at the penthouse, so Spinelli introduced Sonny to Mrs. Theo Hoffman. Sonny wasn't surprised; he had suspected that something had been off about Suzanne from the beginning. Suzanne admitted that she had never thought that things would get as far as they had. Suzanne's resolve to help save Brenda was strengthened when Sonny told them about Jules's stabbing. They quickly reviewed their plans and then prepared to leave. Sonny vowed that if Brenda died then Suzanne "absolutely will too." Dante arrived just as Jason, Suzanne, and Sonny were about to leave. Dante remarked that they made an interesting group and that it appeared that they were on a mission. Dante reminded them that they would have to have someone with a badge present, so he insisted on accompanying them to Theo's lair despite Sonny's objection. At the Balkan's cave, Brenda struggled to free herself from the tight grip of Theo's henchman while Theo ranted about how useless Brenda was. Brenda promised that Sonny would hunt Theo down and destroy him. Theo ignored Brenda as he gave her one final opportunity to tell him where his grandson was. "Your grandson is dead," Brenda yelled. Theo nodded to the henchman who quickly jabbed a needle into Brenda's neck. Theo explained that she had been injected with a new deadly neurotoxin that would eventually paralyze her. Brenda's eyes began to drift closed as Theo warned her that she would feel some discomfort when her lungs began to shut down, but he thought that was only fair after the pain that she had caused. Suzanne entered to implore Theo to leave while he had the chance. Theo realized that Sonny was on his way to the hideout. Suzanne was stunned when she saw Brenda on the sofa. She ran to check on Brenda as she demanded to know what had happened. Theo was disappointed to realize that Suzanne had turned against him. Suzanne begged Theo to turn himself in, but Theo ignored her. He glanced at Brenda as he remarked that Brenda looked like she belonged in a fairytale, the kind that they might have read to their grandson. Theo insisted that he deserved to have his grandchild. Theo's bitterness increased when he realized that Suzanne had signaled to Sonny. He grabbed Suzanne to use her as a human shield during his escape. "Don't do this Theo," Suzanne pleaded, to no avail. Eventually, Theo, flanked by two armed henchmen, made his way to the entrance, where Jason and Dante were waiting with guns at the ready. Theo warned Jason and Dante that Brenda was out of time. At the same moment, Sonny entered Theo's office. Sonny quickly scooped up Brenda as he promised her that he would get her out. Brenda weakly wrapped her arms around her husband's shoulders as Sonny held her tightly. 3/11 The standoff continued at the cave compound. Jason and Dante held guns on Theo, who was holding Suzanne, and his henchmen, who had their weapons trained on Jason and Dante. Theo announced that, in order to save Brenda's life, Jason and Dante would have to stand down. Elsewhere in the cave, Sonny picked up a wounded Brenda and carried her to where Jason and Dante were. Theo announced that Brenda had been injected with a neurotoxin and that she'd be dead within an hour. He asked Sonny whether saving Brenda's life was more valuable to him than getting revenge on Theo. Sonny directed Jason to let Theo go. Theo left with his men and an unwilling Suzanne. Sonny had Brenda airlifted to General Hospital, while Jason and Dante combed through Theo's documents. Dante and Jason argued, as Jason wanted Theo dead, while Dante wanted the man arrested. Jason warned that it would not be good for Dante if Theo went to trial. Theo would make sure Dante went down for covering up Alexander's death, Jason said. Dante accepted that might be his fate. Dante found a receipt from a private airstrip. On the way there, they continued to argue about Theo's destiny. At the airstrip, Suzanne begged Theo to let her go. As Theo and company boarded the helicopter, Jason and Dante arrived and began shooting. Both of Theo's men were hit, and Jason took aim at the chopper and fired. 3/14 Jason fired several shots at Theo's helicopter as it flew away. Dante forced Jason to stop shooting, which infuriated Jason. Jason argued that he had returned the gunfire, so Dante promised to note in his report that Jason had shot in self-defense. Jason was fed up with Dante's determination to do things by the book, so he decided to search for Theo on his own. Dante explained that the police needed to be notified, so he ordered Jason to stay put. Jason wasn't pleased, but he agreed to stay to give a statement. Mac arrived on the scene of the shootout a short time later. Mac was furious that two of Theo's thugs were dead and that a "John Doe" had been rushed to the hospital with a knife in his back after collapsing in Sonny's arms at the Metro Court Restaurant. Dante promised to investigate the incident at the restaurant, but Mac told Dante not to bother. Mac revealed that he had assigned another dectective to look into the matter. Mac pointedly glanced at Jason before focusing on Dante to clarify that the police department would no longer collaborate with members of the mob. Mac ordered Dante to inform Lucky that the days of looking away while Jason helped out were over. Mac insisted that Jason and Sonny would resume being Port Charles's most wanted criminals. Mac was curious if Dante had a problem with that. "No," Dante responded. Mac promised to take Dante's badge if Dante couldn't abide by the new policy. After Mac stormed off, Jason complained because Dante had stopped Jason from shooting down the helicopter. Dante promised that the police would find Theo, but Jason had his doubts. Later, Dante went to Lulu's apartment to update her on Brenda's rescue. Dante confessed that he would have been out of his mind if Lulu had been the one to have been poisoned. After a brief kiss, Dante and Lulu sat down on the sofa to discuss the situation with Theo. Dante insisted that a bullet would be too good for Theo; he deserved to rot in jail for hurting Sam and Brenda. Dante started to express his regret for bending the law in 2007 by covering up Aleksander's death, but Lulu assured him that she had forgiven Dante. Lulu promised Dante that she would understand if he wanted to go to the hospital to check on Brenda. Dante was grateful that Lulu had been able to forgive him. He declared his love for her and then kissed her. Moments later, Dante received an update about Brenda. Dante shared the news with Lulu after he ended the call. Dante realized that his integrity as a police officer would be tested because he was certain that Sonny and Jason would go after Theo. Dante shifted gears to apologize for keeping Lulu in the dark about many things; he realized that he shouldn't have. Lulu agreed, but then again they wouldn't have been able to have make-up sex. Dante smiled as Lulu moved closer to kiss him. 3/16 Dante was surprised to bump into Lulu at the hospital. He explained that he was there on police business, but he also intended to do something that Lulu might not like. Lulu relaxed when Dante admitted that he wanted to visit with Brenda. Lulu assured Dante that full disclosure wasn't required every time he spoke to a woman. Dante regretted that he had kept secrets from Lulu, so he was determined not to repeat his mistakes. Sonny stepped into the hallway outside of Brenda’s hospital room and ran into Dante. Dante was relieved that Brenda's condition had improved. However, he warned Sonny that the days of looking the other way and working with the mob were over. Dante reminded Sonny that the police were looking for Theo. Dante realized that Sonny was conducting his own search, but Dante made it clear that he would take Sonny in if Sonny were caught breaking the law. Sonny assured Dante that he understood and then invited Dante to spend some time with Brenda. Sonny was certain that Brenda would enjoy the visit. Dante entered Brenda's room while Sonny watched them from the window. On his way out, Dante bumped into Ronnie near the bank of elevators. Ronnie was curious if Dante had been able to question Theo's henchman, who had been stabbed at the Metro Court Restaurant. Dante revealed that the man had not regained consciousness and that the doctors weren't certain if the man would recover. Ronnie switched gears to let Dante know that they had received a tip that Sonny was expecting a shipment on Pier 52 later that evening. Ronnie commented that it appeared that Brenda's crisis hadn't stopped Sonny from "doing business as usual." At Pier 52, Michael lurked near some crates as Sonny's men unloaded a shipment. Seconds later, Michael heard the approach of police sirens, so he stepped forward to order Sonny's men to run. Dante and Ronnie rounded the corner just as Michael and the men fled in different directions. Dante followed Michael, not realizing who it was. Dante eventually cornered Michael in an alley and then ordered him to turn around. Dante was shocked to see Michael. 3/17 In an alley near Pier 52, Dante was stunned to realize that Michael had been involved with the unloading of Sonny's illegal shipment. Dante ordered Michael to stay put and then left the alley to direct a police officer away from Michael. At the same moment, Jason pulled up to the alley and then instructed Michael to get into the SUV. Michael immediately complied. Dante returned to the alley in time to see Jason's car speed away. At Kelly's, Dante told Lulu about what had transpired on Pier 52. Dante admitted that he hadn't told Ronnie about Michael's presence during the bust. Lulu was curious what Dante intended to do. Dante feared that Michael would get in deeper with the mob if Dante didn't take action; however, Michael would end up back in Pentonville for the parole violation. Dante confessed that he didn't know which fate was worse. Later, Dante decided to go to Jason's penthouse. Dante was furious that Jason had allowed Michael to get involved in mob business, so he threatened to arrest Jason. Michael started to defend Jason, but Dante wasn't interested in hearing from his brother. Dante demanded to know if the evening had been Jason's idea of mentoring. Michael insisted that it hadn't been like that, but Jason warned Michael to stop talking. Dante vowed to find something that would stick, so that Jason would go to jail. 3/18 At Elizabeth's house, Elizabeth looked around for Jake. Elizabeth called out Jake's name and then noticed that someone had opened the front door. Elizabeth immediately raced to the door. A second later, she stared in horror as she screamed, "Jake!" Elizabeth was terrified to see Jake's lifeless body lying in the street. Dante confronted Jason and accused him of preparing Michael for a life of crime. Jason and Michael tried to tell Dante otherwise, but Dante wouldn't listen. Dante threatened to find something that would send Jason to prison. Dante vowed to Michael that there was no way he'd let Michael destroy his life. Dante continued to berate Michael for having put himself in danger. "I could have shot you," Dante declared angrily. Jason agreed that Michael needed to stop taking such risks. Just then, Jason's phone rang. It was Lucky, who let Jason know that Jake had been hit by a car. 3/21 Dante and Lulu arrived at GH. Lulu quickly embraced Lucky. Lucky told them that Jake was in surgery. Dante revealed that he had been at the scene of the accident. According to Dante, there hadn't been any tire marks, so it appeared that the person responsible for the hit-and-run had kept driving. Nikolas couldn't understand what kind of person would leave an injured child abandoned in the street. Dante suggested that perhaps the person hadn't realized that they had struck a child. Dante revealed that they would be able to find the driver because traffic cameras would have recorded the cars that had been in that area around the time of the accident. Dante explained that he would need to talk to Elizabeth to find out what time the hit-and-run had occurred. Dante started to head to the waiting room, but Lucky stopped him. Lucky didn't think that it was the time to talk to Elizabeth about the accident because she was going through hell. Dante reminded Lucky that time was of the essence, so Lucky decided to question Elizabeth about the accident. Lucky returned a short time later to reveal that Jake had been hit between 8:00 p.m. and 8:05 p.m. because Elizabeth's cell phone had showed that she had called 911 at 8:06 p.m. According to Lucky, Elizabeth had found Jake lying in the street by her front yard, but she hadn't seen a car. Lucky surmised that the car had been southbound on Lexington at the time of the hit-and-run. Lucky grew silent when he spotted Jason walking towards him. A hush fell over the area as Lucky slowly approached a grief-stricken Jason. Jason answered the question in Lucky's tear-filled eyes by softly shaking his head and then quietly confirming, "He's gone." Lucky dropped his head as he wept over the loss of his son. Sam entered to police station to beg Dante to allow her to help find the driver who had killed Jake. Dante was curious why Sam wasn't with Jason at the hospital. Sam explained that Jake was a "loaded subject" for her and Jason because she had made a horrible mistake years before that she would regret for the rest of her life. Sam felt that her presence at the hospital would upset Elizabeth, so Dante relented. He quickly updated her on what he had discovered and then they began to review the footage from the traffic cameras. A short time later, they had narrowed down the list of suspects to seven cars. 3/22 At the police station, Sam reviewed a list of the license plates numbers for the possible suspects of Jake's hit-and-run. Dante revealed that they were being run through their system to see who the cars were registered to. Sam blanched when she realized that her vehicle was on the list. She immediately told Dante, who wondered why she hadn't mentioned that she had driven past Elizabeth's house around the time of the accident. According to Sam, she hadn't thought twice about it because she drove that route countless times because it was a shortcut through town with fewer traffic lights. Dante was certain that Sam would have known if she had hit a small child, but Sam disagreed. She explained that the street wasn't well lit and that there were numerous potholes, which she might have attributed the bump to. Sam became distraught as the enormity of what she might have done sank in. Dante urged her not to jump to conclusions because she hadn't been the only person on the road that night. Sam confessed that she had been driving with a terrible headache, so she hadn't been concentrating on the road. She conceded that she should have pulled over immediately instead of trying to drive. Dante was curious if she had been impaired. "My steering wheel drifted off at one point, so, yeah, I guess I was," Sam answered. She volunteered to have the forensics team check her car, which was parked in front of the police station. Dante quickly took her up on the offer. Dante and Sam continued to trace the plates while they waited to hear back from the forensics team. Sonny, Robin, and Lisa's cars were quickly identified. Sam feared that it would destroy Sonny if Sonny were found to have been responsible for the hit-and-run. Dante thought that Lisa might be a possible suspect because she had been accused of doing some "pretty nasty stuff." Luke's car was identified next, followed by a Town Car with false plates and tinted windows. Sam suggested that it might be a mob car, so she offered to have Spinelli check into it. Dante noted that the car didn't appear to have been speeding or driving recklessly, so he decided to check the other cars first. Moments later, Dante received a call clearing Sam of the hit-and-run. Sam's joy turned to concern when they discovered that the last car on their list belonged to Carly. 3/23 At the police station, Dante updated Ronnie on the hit-and-run investigation. Ronnie wasn't surprised to discover that Sonny was among the suspects on the list. He was curious how long Dante intended to cover for Sonny. Dante ignored the remark as he questioned how anyone could have kept on driving after hitting a small child with a car or not even noticing that it had happened. Ronnie sarcastically suggested that the person might have been trying to get to their honeymoon. Dante didn't rise to the bait, so Ronnie decided to impound Sonny's car. Dante conceded that it was a conflict of interest for him, so he let Ronnie oversee that part of the investigation. Lulu entered the squad room as Ronnie left. Dante wondered if Lulu had seen Lucky. She explained that Siobhan was with Lucky and then admitted that she had no idea how to feel about Jake's death giving Carly's daughter a chance at life. Dante hugged Lulu, during which she happened to glance down to see the list of suspects on Dante's desk. Dante approached Robin moments later to question Robin about the accident. Robin was horrified to realize that she had been on Lexington around the time of Jake's hit-and-run. Patrick informed Dante that Lisa had been driving right behind Robin, so Lisa should also be considered a suspect. Dante promised that the forensics team would check Lisa's car, but he was curious what Robin remembered about the drive. Robin admitted that she had been in a rush to get to the hospital and that she had been distracted by Lisa's aggressive tailgating, so Robin hadn't been paying attention to the road ahead as she should have. Dante explained that Robin's car would be impounded to be checked. Robin was shaken by the possibility that she could have killed Jake. Patrick reminded her that they didn't know anything for certain, so she shouldn't jump to any conclusions. However, Patrick admitted that he had warned Johnny that someone would be killed, but he had never imagined that it might have been a four year-old child. At the police station, Dante told Lulu that Robin had been cleared of the accident. Lulu was relieved, but she wondered how anyone could have struck a child and not have known it. Dante suggested that a person driving a large vehicle might not have realized what had happened or the person had been under the influence. Dante then changed the subject to find out where Lulu had been. Lulu admitted that she had gone to see Elizabeth, but she had chickened out at the last moment. Lulu confessed that she had blasted Elizabeth for the affair with Nikolas the last time that she had seen her. Lulu realized that Elizabeth was going through hell, so she hoped that the person responsible for Jake's accident wasn't someone that Elizabeth knew. Dante agreed. He admitted that he would love to eliminate three of the suspects on the list, including his father. Ronnie entered the squad room to announce that Sonny's car had been cleared. Lulu imagined that Dante was relieved. Ronnie reminded Lulu that she hadn't been deputized, so she shouldn't be privy to details of the investigation. Dante warned Ronnie not to take his frustration with Dante out on Lulu. Lulu assured Dante that she was fine and then explained that she had to leave. Dante demanded to know what was wrong with Ronnie. Ronnie explained that he had been covering Dante's "ass" because two of the people close to Dante's girlfriend were suspects in the hit-and-run. Dante argued that Lisa had been the only driver who had been doing something wrong that night. Ronnie felt bad for Dante because investigations were always messy when they involved family. 3/24 At the police station, Mac wanted an update on Jake Webber's hit-and-run. Dante revealed that three suspects had been eliminated: Sam, Sonny, and Robin. Dante explained that there were several other suspects, including a mystery car with tinted windows and false license plates. Dante arrived at GH to talk to Carly and Luke. Dante immediately realized that Carly and Luke were aware that they were suspects in Jake's hit-and-run. Carly was shocked; she demanded to know why Luke hadn't told her that he was also a suspect. Luke assured her that he hadn't killed Jake. Dante reminded them that the police could easily clear up the matter by checking their cars. Carly wanted to know the truth as soon as possible, so she revealed that her car had been parked in the hospital's parking garage since she had arrived at the hospital the night before. Shortly afterwards, Dante discovered that Carly's car was missing, so he called in an APB and then headed to the police station. Lulu was waiting for him when he arrived. Lulu wondered how the investigation was going, but Dante thought that he should ask her the same thing. Lulu realized that Dante knew that she had seen the suspect list and then shared the information with Luke. Dante reminded her that she could have gotten him fired. Dante knew that he wasn't in a position to judge, but he had trusted her not to do anything like that. "Kind of like I trusted you with Brenda" Lulu remarked. She immediately apologized and then assured Dante that she had only shared the information with her father. Dante decided that he should do a better job of concealing information on his desk. After Lulu left, Mac demanded to know how long it took the forensics team to check three cars. Dante revealed that Carly's car had disappeared, so they were searching for it. Dante also explained that they hadn't been able to track down the mystery car. Mac confessed that it wouldn't surprise him if it turned out to be one of Sonny's vehicles. Mac suspected that perhaps that had been the real reason behind Michael and Kristina's visit. Dante was surprised when Mac told him about Michael's demands to see the paperwork on Sonny's car and then Kristina's encounter in the hallway. Mac suggested that Dante keep his siblings out of the squad room and then left. Dante immediately called Michael to demand to know where Michael was. Michael explained that he'd had a fender-bender and was stuck in an alley. Dante met up with Michael short time later; he wasn't surprised to see that Michael had been driving Carly's car. Michael started to spin his story but Dante knew that Michael had seen the suspect list, so Dante was certain Michael's "accident" had been an attempt to destroy evidence that might link Carly to Jake's hit-and-run. Lulu went to the Haunted Star to look for Lucky, but Luke was alone. Luke assured Lulu that Lucky would find them when he needed them. Lulu agreed and then confessed that Dante wasn't happy with her because she had shared the suspect list with Luke. Luke was curious why it was okay for Dante to keep secrets, but not Lulu. Lulu admitted that she had used the same argument against Dante, but it had crossed the line. Luke insisted that some lines were meant to be crossed. Lulu confided that it had never occurred to her not to tell Luke about the list. Luke explained that it was because she was loyal. Lulu wondered what would happen if Carly had killed Jake. She was curious if Luke thought that Carly might try to cover it up. Luke doubted it because Jake had been Jason’s son. Luke was certain that, if Carly had hit Jake, it had been an accident. Luke acknowledged that it was bad enough to kill a child, but for the child to be the reason that Carly's daughter had lived was unimaginable. Lulu reminded him that another car with forged license plates had been seen on Lexington around the time of the accident. She was confident that the mystery car was responsible for the hit-and-run. Luke agreed that someone with false plates had something to hide, so they would likely keep driving after running over a child. 3/25 Nikolas checked in with Lulu, who let him know that Lucky had become volatile after hearing that Carly might have hit Jake. Lulu felt horrible that she'd treated Elizabeth so poorly after Elizabeth's affair with Nikolas went public. Lulu realized that she'd blown up at Elizabeth the night Jake had been hit. Nikolas suggested that Elizabeth would likely appreciate Lulu's support and that they might be able to forgive one another.DVD #8B 3/25 At the Haunted Star, Lulu and Luke hoped that Carly hadn't had anything to do with the hit-and-run that was responsible for Jake's death. Lucky arrived and seemed dazed. Luke broke the news that Carly was on the list of suspects. Lulu tried to downplay the odds that Carly was involved, but Lucky convinced himself that it had been her. Lucky seethed with enmity toward his cousin and stated that Carly was selfish and never took responsibility for her actions. Luke admonished Lucky not to jump to conclusions and suggested that Lucky wasn't angry with Carly but at God. Lucky denied Luke's assertion and put the blame squarely on Carly. Luke admitted that he'd tipped off Carly about her being one of the suspects. Lucky exploded with anger. "You have no idea what this is like," he accused. Emotionally, Luke reminded his son that he knew exactly what it was like; he'd felt the same way when he and Laura thought Lucky had been killed, years before. Carly took a call from Dante, who let her know that she had been cleared of suspicion. At the police station, Mac informed Dante that the car with forged plates was owned by one of Theo's companies. The forensics report arrived and proved Carly's car hadn't hit Jake. Lucky returned to the police station, where Dante reluctantly shared the DNA results with him. Taken aback, Lucky said that he had to handle the case. Dante worried aloud that it was too personal for Lucky, but Lucky took off. Dante called and demanded Jason go to the police station right away. After Jason departed, Lulu knocked on the door. Elizabeth was speechless to find Lulu on the doorstep. Jason met Dante at the station, and Dante informed him that Jake's DNA had been found on a vehicle: Luke's car. Luke returned to the Haunted Star to find a distraught Lucky. Luke was glad that Lucky knew Carly had been ruled out as a suspect. With tears in his eyes, Lucky showed his father the forensics report that showed Luke's car was the one that had hit Jake. Luke was shocked, “I hit Jake?” 3/28 At the police station, Jason demanded to know if Dante were sure that Luke had been responsible for the hit-and-run that had killed Jake. Dante confirmed that the evidence was conclusive. Jason refused to believe that it had been an accident. Dante pointed out that any one of the other drivers could have hit Jake, but Jason argued that they hadn't been drunk like Luke had been. Dante pointed out that Jason didn't know for certain that Luke had been drunk at the time of the accident, so he urged Jason to think carefully before confronting Luke. Elizabeth invited Lulu into the living room. Lulu admitted that Jake had been an amazing child and that she was deeply sorry for Elizabeth's loss. Lulu also regretted the way that she had treated Elizabeth after the affair with Nikolas and the things that she had said to Elizabeth. Elizabeth didn't think that any of that seemed to matter anymore. Lulu confessed that it had been wrong of her to judge Elizabeth, but Elizabeth insisted that Lulu had just been a protective sister. Lulu conceded that Elizabeth hadn't set out to hurt Lucky by having an affair. Lulu also acknowledged that Elizabeth had always been a wonderful sister and friend to her; Elizabeth had treated Lulu with more patience than Lulu had shown Elizabeth. Elizabeth assured Lulu that Lulu didn't have to apologize, but Lulu argued that it had been wrong of her to take her anger out on Elizabeth. Lulu wished that her ego would have let her say that sooner and that it hadn't taken the loss of a child to see it. Elizabeth joined Lulu on the sofa and then gently changed the subject by asking if Lulu had spoken to Lucky. "Yes," Lulu assured Elizabeth. Elizabeth confessed that Lucky had persuaded her to donate Jake's organs after the accident. Lulu reminded Elizabeth that Jake had saved the lives of many children. Elizabeth hoped that one day the knowledge would help in some small way. Lulu admitted that she wished that Lucky could focus on Jake's gift of life rather than on finding the driver responsible for the accident. Elizabeth refused to blame the driver for Jake's death. According to Elizabeth, it had been her fault for not locking the front door or hearing Jake leave. "That was an accident," Lulu insisted. Seconds later, someone knocked on the door, so Lulu answered it. It was Dante. Lulu offered to leave when Dante revealed that they had found the driver responsible for the hit-and-run. Elizabeth invited Lulu to stay as Dante struggled to find the words to break the news to Elizabeth and Lulu. Dante assured Elizabeth and Lulu that it appeared to have been a "complete accident" and then admitted that Luke had been the driver. Lulu insisted that it had to be a mistake; she demanded to know if he had checked the mystery car with the forged license plates. Dante assured Lulu that they were certain that they had proof. Lulu became distraught as she struggled to accept what Dante had told her. Elizabeth was equally shaken by the news, so she asked Lulu and Dante to leave. Lulu didn't want Elizabeth to be alone, so she asked Dante stay with Elizabeth. Elizabeth explained that she needed to be alone, so Lulu and Dante left. Later, Lulu bumped into Tracy on a street corner. She tearfully wondered if Tracy had seen Luke. Tracy realized that something had happened, so Lulu explained that Luke had been responsible for Jake's hit-and-run. "That's not possible," Tracy argued. Lulu revealed that forensics had confirmed it. Lulu then told Tracy that Lucky had gone to see Luke. Lulu confessed that Lucky had been on the warpath when he had thought that Carly had been responsible for the accident, so she feared how Lucky would react to Luke being the driver. Tracy couldn't believe that Luke had killed Jake. Lulu didn't know how Luke and Lucky would be able to make peace with what had happened. Tracy feared that Luke's life wouldn't be "right" without Lucky in it. Lulu worried that the guilt of Jake's death would eat her father alive. Dante arrived at the police station to find Lucky at work. Lucky revealed that he had told Luke that Luke had been responsible for Jake's death. Lucky confided that Luke had been drinking at the time of the accident, but they had no way of proving that Luke had been over the legal limit. Dante warned Lucky that Lulu had heard the news and that she had been reluctant to believe it. Lucky wasn't surprised; denial was in his family genes. Lucky explained that Luke refused to accept that his drinking had been a factor in the accident, but Luke had admitted that he'd had no business being behind the wheel of the car. However, Luke had only said that to appease Lucky. Lucky insisted that Luke refused to acknowledge the possibility that Jake had died because Luke had been impaired. Dante revealed that Jason had also been told about Luke's role in the accident. Lucky was curious how Jason had reacted, so Dante admitted that Jason had blamed Luke's drinking for the tragedy. 3/29 On a street corner, Lulu couldn't believe that Luke had killed Jake. Lulu realized that the one person, who had understood what Lucky had been going through, needed Lucky's forgiveness. Tracy warned Lulu that it was a tall order. Lulu wanted Lucky and Luke to understand that Jake's hit-and-run had been a horrible accident, but Tracy had her doubts that Lucky would see things that way. Tracy was curious what time the accident had occurred, so Lulu revealed that it had been around 8:00 p.m. "Cocktail hour," Tracy realized. Lulu immediately defended her father by insisting that Luke never got drunk, so alcohol hadn't played a role in the accident. Tracy was certain that Luke would agree with Lulu; however, Lucky would be looking to assign blame, so Lucky would blame it on the alcohol. Lulu decided to find her father, but Tracy suggested that Tracy ought to talk to Luke instead because Luke would be more apt to tell Tracy the truth. Lulu went to Dante's loft to talk to him about the accident. Dante apologized for breaking the news to Lulu as he had. He explained that he had no idea that Lulu had been at Elizabeth's house. Lulu had no idea how her family would be able to "bounce back" from the tragedy, but Dante assured her that, in time, they would. "My dad killed my nephew. That's the worst thing that could have happened," Lulu cried. Dante held Lulu for a few minutes and then guided her to the sofa where he confessed that he had told Jason that Luke had been the driver. Lulu worried that Jason would try to kill her father, but Dante assured her that Jason wouldn't act rashly. Dante reminded Lulu that Jason and Luke had several friends in common, so he was confident that they would be able to talk Jason down. Dante then shifted gears to find out why Lulu had been at Elizabeth's house. Lulu admitted that she had apologized to Elizabeth for the way that she had treated Elizabeth since learning of the affair. Dante was curious if Lulu had seen Luke. Lulu explained that Tracy had talked her out of it because Tracy had thought that it would best for Tracy to speak to Luke. Dante agreed that it had probably been for the best. Lulu confessed that she wished the hit-and-run could have gone unsolved. According to Lulu, the truth didn't always provide closure; it sometimes ripped lives apart. 3/30 At the loft, Dante reminded Lulu that she had seen Luke's name on the list of suspects, but Lulu admitted that she had never allowed herself to entertain the possibility that Luke had killed Jake. She knew that it would have torn apart her family, which it had. Dante confessed that he had never thought that his family would forgive him for his role in sending Michael to jail, but over time, they had. Dante was certain that Lucky and Luke would eventually work things out. Lulu argued that the situations were different because Michael hadn't died. Dante conceded that things were further complicated because Luke had been drinking prior to the accident. Lulu argued that it had been dark, so no one could have seen Jake. However, she feared that Lucky would never be able to see it as an accident because he would always be reminded of Jake's death whenever Lucky looked at Luke. Dante was annoyed when Michael and Abby suddenly burst through the door. Dante griped that Michael should have knocked, but Michael pointed out that he lived there. Dante explained that he had been having a serious conversation with Lulu. Michael demanded to know why Abby hadn't been told that Brandon had been released from jail. Dante was surprised by the news. Michael and Abby revealed that Brandon had hired a new attorney who intended to take the case to trial, so that Brandon could claim that Abby had lied about the attempted rape. Michael also revealed that Brandon intended to accuse Michael of assaulting Brandon in a jealous rage, which Dante had later covered up. Dante assured Michael that the ploy wouldn't work because a victim's testimony carried a lot of weight. Abby revealed that she refused to testify because she didn't want to risk Michael being sent back to Pentonville. After Michael and Abby left, Dante called to get more information about Brandon's release from jail. Dante learned that Brandon had hired Angela Dwyer. According to Dante, Angela was very good, so Abby's testimony would be crucial to secure a conviction. Lulu was curious why Dante was so worried. Dante explained that Michael might be compelled to take matters into his own hands to keep Abby safe from Brandon. Dante feared that he might not be able to help Michael if Michael decided to go after Brandon. 3/31 Lulu wept as she and Dante entered Crimson after the memorial service. Lulu was upset because Luke hadn't attended the service. Dante tried to get her mind off of everything by inviting her to go to the park or a museum. Lulu agreed, but moments later, Mac sent Dante a text message ordering Dante to question Luke about the accident. Dante headed to the Haunted Star shortly afterwards. Dante waited in Luke's office until Luke returned. Luke poured himself a drink, so Dante offered to return when Luke wasn't drinking. Luke drank some scotch and then assured Dante that he was as sober as he had been on "that night." Dante wondered if Luke had any specific memories about the night of the accident. Luke admitted that he remembered everything, except hitting Jake. Luke acknowledged that he had probably been driving fast, his music had been blaring, but he hadn't felt anything unusual about the "dark stretch of rough road." Lulu eavesdropped from the hallway as Dante wondered how many drinks Luke had consumed prior to the accident. 4/1 At the Haunted Star, Lulu eavesdropped as Luke denied that he had been impaired at the time of the accident. Dante was curious exactly how much alcohol Luke had consumed prior to the accident. Luke took a drink of scotch and then suggested that it didn't make a difference, since the police couldn't prove anything. Dante pointedly looked at Luke's drink as he warned Luke that he didn't want another child to suffer the same fate. Luke promised that Dante could relax because Luke didn't have any intention of driving. Lulu entered the office to defend her father by insisting that Luke never drove drunk. "That's not the point," Luke warned Lulu. Luke explained that the law had standards, right or wrong, that were supposedly applied equally to all. Lulu argued that it took a lot of alcohol for Luke to get drunk, so she rarely saw her father intoxicated. Dante assured Luke and Lulu that Jake's death would be officially ruled an accident, which Luke believed would be a consolation to the family. "Dad, please," Lulu requested as Luke took another drink. Luke wondered if she really wanted to go there with him in front of her boyfriend. Dante offered to leave, but Lulu insisted that they didn't have anything to hide. Lulu was confident that Luke hadn't been intoxicated at the time of the accident, but she insisted that Lucky wasn't ready to accept that. She pleaded with Luke not to consume any alcohol until Lucky had time to see that the accident had been a terrible tragedy. Luke refused to be something that he wasn't. Luke insisted that he would always be the person who had killed Jake, but Lulu was certain that Lucky would eventually make peace with everything. She wanted Luke to give Lucky room to realize that Luke was not to blame for Jake's death. "That's what I'm telling you, Lulu. I am to blame," Luke argued. Later at Kelly's, Lulu told Dante that she suspected that Luke wanted to drink alcohol, so that Lucky would be mad at Luke. Lulu believed that Luke wanted to be punished. Dante admitted that he probably would have knocked Luke on his "ass" if he had been in Lucky's shoes. Lulu was desperate to fix things, but Dante urged Lulu to stop trying to take care of everyone because she couldn't lessen anyone's loss, and she needed time to grieve. Dante encouraged Lulu to lean on him if she needed to. 4/4 Dante and Lulu met for coffee at Kelly's. Dante offered Lulu a phone number for a support group for families of alcoholics, but Lulu denied that Luke was a drunk. Dante told her a story about his cousin who was an alcoholic. Dante said that he had been in denial about his cousin's drinking, but when he finally went to a session of a support group, it had opened his eyes. Lulu got angry and told Dante that he did not have a clue as to what he was talking about and stomped out. Luke screamed to Lucky that he was not an alcoholic, just as Lulu appeared on the Haunted Star. Lulu told them to stop arguing. Lulu told Lucky and Luke that Jake's death had been a horrible accident. She said that it could have been any driver. She denied that Luke's drinking was to blame. Lucky said that Lulu was in denial. Lulu said that Luke felt horrible and blamed himself. She said that Luke did not feel that he deserved a son in his life after he had taken Lucky's son from him. She said Luke would do whatever it took to get Lucky to reject him. Lulu said that losing Jake was awful, and she did not want to lose her family also. Luke said that he would gladly give his life if he could exchange it for Jake's. Lucky said that he believed Luke, but he added that Luke had to take responsibility and admit that alcohol had played a part in Jake's death. Lulu said that Luke was not a drunk. Lucky said that he could not stay and be part of their fantasy world while Luke knocked back a bottle of scotch. Lucky said that until Luke admitted that he had a problem, there was no chance for them to start healing. Luke said that it would not be honorable for him to say something he did not believe, and he did not believe that he had a drinking problem. Before leaving the Haunted Star, Lucky sarcastically commented, "Well, that is honorable." Lulu told Luke that she loved him no matter what. 4/5 Dante knocked on Johnny’s door. Dante explained that he wanted to question Johnny about Brandon, who had been murdered in the parking lot of Johnny's strip club. Lisa quickly excused herself and then left. Johnny insisted that he wouldn't have been foolish enough to kill someone on his own property and then leave the body for the police to find. Johnny suggested that Dante should focus less on protecting Michael, and more on finding the truth. Dante went to Abby's apartment to question Abby and Michael about Brandon's murder. Dante revealed that Brandon had been shot twice in the head in Vaughn's parking lot, so he had to ask if Michael had killed Abby's ex-boyfriend. Abby insisted that Michael had been with her since the previous night. However, Michael admitted that he had gone to Jake's memorial service and then Jason's apartment to check on Jason. Dante told Abby that he knew that Abby had dropped the charges against Brandon. Michael demanded to know if Dante were suggesting that Abby had killed Brandon. Dante explained that he needed to know what had happened to be prepared in case there had been any witnesses. Dante insisted that he was there as Michael's brother, not a cop. Dante realized that the judicial system had let Michael down, but he wanted to protect Michael. Abby argued that Brandon had made a lot of enemies, and had been deep in debt to loan sharks, so any number of people could have killed Brandon. However, she didn't have a name of anyone in particular whom Dante could question. Michael became defensive when Dante began to question Abby about the abuse that she had endured at Brandon's hands. Dante warned Michael that Michael's impulse to protect Abby at any cost made him a suspect in the murder. Michael argued that the person who had shot Brandon was a hero. "Are you sure about that?" Dante wondered. "Yes," Michael replied. Dante advised Abby to get her alibi straight because she had made Michael look guilty. Dante dropped by to talk to Jason about Brandon's murder. Sam explained that she had no idea where Jason was, so Dante asked to wait. Sam invited Dante in and then tried to find out what was going on. Dante revealed that Jason was the prime suspect in Brandon's murder because the police suspected that Jason had killed Brandon, to protect Michael, after Brandon had attacked Abby. 4/6 At Jason's penthouse, Sam suggested that Jason call Diane when Jason walked through the door. Dante assured Jason and Sam that there would be plenty of time for that. Jason didn't understand why he needed an attorney, so Dante told him about Brandon's murder, which Dante was certain Jason had already known about. Jason denied that he'd had anything to do with it, but Dante didn't believe him. Dante admitted that, under normal circumstances, he would have hauled Jason to the police station, but he understood that Jason was going through a lot because of Jake's death. Sam wondered what evidence Dante had on Jason. Dante accused Jason of killing Brandon to keep Michael from doing it. Dante was furious because he believed that the murder would send Michael the message that violence solved all of his problems. Dante pointed out that Carter had hurt Michael, so Jason had killed Carter, and then Brandon had hurt Abby, so again Jason had killed. According to Dante, Michael would see that as a show of power, which was what Michael was after at the moment. Dante was certain that it would only be a matter of time before Michael used Jason's willingness to kill for him to gain entrance into the "family." Jason assured Dante that he didn't want that for Michael, while Sam insisted that Jason had done everything to stop Michael from getting involved in the mob. Sam argued that Dante didn't have any proof that Jason had killed Brandon. She suggested that any number of Brandon's enemies could have killed Brandon. Dante insisted that Jason had a motive, so he intended to prove that Jason was responsible for Brandon's murder. At Kelly's, Abby thanked Dante for meeting her. Dante wanted to get a couple of things straight before she told him why she had asked to see him. He admitted that he didn't want to look at his brother and think, even for a second, that Michael had it in him to put two bullets in someone's head. However, he acknowledged that Michael had grown up surrounded by violence. Dante explained that he had to walk a fine line between being a cop and a brother, so it helped not having knowledge of a crime. Abby quickly assured Dante that Michael wouldn't lie to her, so she was certain that Michael hadn't killed Brandon. Dante revealed that it meant that Jason was at the top of the list. Abby urged Dante to at least talk to the people at Vaughn's before jumping to conclusions. She assured him that Johnny had instructed everyone to cooperate with the investigation. Dante was curious why Johnny had talked to her about Brandon's murder. Abby explained that Johnny owned Vaughn's, and he had always been good to her. Dante was curious if there were more to Abby's relationship with Johnny. Abby insisted that Johnny had always kept it professional between them and that he had never hit on any of the girls at the strip club. Dante warned Abby that nothing was ever straightforward with Johnny, so he was certain that Johnny was after something. 4/11 At the loft, Dante awakened Lulu, who was agitated by a disturbing dream. In the dream, Lulu had berated Luke and told him angrily that he loved alcohol more than life. When she told this to Dante, she said that the dream was the opposite of how she felt. Lulu said that she felt as bad for Luke as for Lucky and that she was not mad at her dad. Dante said that a person felt what they felt. He comforted Lulu. Lulu also visited Luke on the Haunted Star. She smelled the gasoline, and Luke told her that he was reconsidering burning up the boat because it was a repeat of burning up his blues club. Lulu told him she would clean up. When Luke continued to flick the lighter as she cleaned, she asked him to stop. He said that some things could not be cleaned up. Lulu told him that unless he wanted to risk both their lives, he should put the lighter away. Michael went to the loft to see Dante. He said that Abby was in trouble and asked Dante to help. Michael assured Dante that neither he, Abby, nor Jason had killed Brandon. Dante believed him. He also respected Michael for understanding that Ronnie was baiting Michael to get to Jason. Dante agreed to help, but made Michael promise to stay away from the police department. Dante went to Jason and told him that Abby was calm and handling Ronnie's interrogation very well. Jason wanted to tell Michael, but Dante said to wait. He told Jason that Brandon had no money and had originally had a public defender until a high-priced lawyer had stepped in and taken over his case for free. Dante said that someone with deep pockets had been bankrolling Brandon. Lucky went to see Lulu at the loft. She told him about her visit with Luke. She said that he had put away the lighter and cleaned up the Haunted Star. Lulu said that Luke was in a lot of pain and did not know what to do. Lucky said that Luke did know what to do. Lucky told Lulu that Luke would drink until he no longer felt the pain. 4/12 At Jason's penthouse, Spinelli tried to stonewall Dante when Dante asked to see Jason. Dante explained that the evidence continued to point to Jason as the primary suspect in Brandon's murder. Spinelli wasn't surprised that the "long arm of the law" continued to look in the wrong direction, but he was offended by Dante's insensitivity during Jason's time of grief. Dante admitted that he didn't think that Jason or Michael was responsible for Brandon's murder, but the weapon used was the same kind of gun that Jason was known to carry, and that Michael had access to it. Diane arrived moments later. Dante quickly explained to Diane that he was trying to clear Jason and Michael of killing Brandon, so he needed her help. Dante revealed that Brandon had hired a high-powered attorney named Angela Dwyer to represent him. Dante pointed out that Brandon hadn't had the kind of money to pay for someone as expensive as Ms. Dwyer. Diane conceded that Angela Dwyer was a great attorney, but Ms. Dwyer had very questionable morals. Dante was curious if Diane knew which of Angela Dwyer's clients might hate Jason and Sonny. Diane revealed that the Zaccharas had recently hired Angela Dwyer. Dante thanked Diane for her help because she had saved him quite a bit of time. Dante approached Johnny to question Johnny about Angela Dwyer. Dante admitted that it was a strange coincidence that Brandon had been able to afford an attorney who worked for the Zaccharas. Johnny suggested that Dante question Angela Dwyer about Brandon. Dante thought it was odd how everything always seemed to lead back to Johnny. 4/13 Olivia went to Dante's loft to drop off some food. She immediately noticed that her son seemed less than enthusiastic about her visit, so she asked him what was wrong. Dante admitted that he suspected that Johnny had set up Michael to gain leverage over Sonny. Olivia advised Dante to warn Sonny, but Dante feared that it might trigger a war between Sonny and Johnny. Olivia urged Dante to figure a way around it. Dante argued that the truce between Sonny and Johnny was fragile at best, so Olivia suggested that Dante stop thinking like a cop, and start acting like a brother and son. At Greystone Manor, Dante stood in the doorway, watching the exchange between Diane and Sonny. After she left, Sonny admitted to Dante that Diane was a terrific lawyer, but he sometimes questioned if she were worth it. Dante advised Sonny to be nice to Diane because Michael might need her skill. Sonny became momentarily sidetracked when he made a quick call to line up a bodyguard for Lucian. Afterwards, Sonny admitted that he was frustrated because it was impossible to find someone qualified to watch over the little boy. Sonny noticed Dante's confusion, so he filled Dante in about Lucian. Dante was curious if there were any proof of Suzanne's claims. Sonny explained that Suzanne had provided them with a birth certificate, but Dante pointed out that the piece of paper didn't mean anything, since he had been able to claim that the child was his at one time. Sonny wanted Brenda to be happy, but he didn't trust Suzanne. Sonny acknowledged that Lucian was a sweet child, but he confided that he didn't want any more children because he had his hands full with the children that he had. Dante was curious if things might have been different if Sonny had known about Lucian before the wedding. Sonny insisted that he would have loved Brenda, but he conceded that his life was difficult, so all he could do was adjust to the new situation. Sonny then asked Dante about his earlier comment regarding Michael. Dante told Sonny about Brandon's murder, and how concerned Michael had been about Abby. Sonny argued that Abby was a big girl who could take care of herself; however, Sonny refused to let Michael end up back in prison. Dante confessed that Johnny might be trying to exploit the situation. Sonny was stunned when Dante revealed that Brandon had hired the Zaccharas' attorney, Angela Dwyer, to bail Brandon out of jail. Sonny was certain that Johnny wanted to set Michael up for Brandon's murder to get back at Sonny. Dante urged Sonny to be careful not to start a war, but Sonny insisted that he would do whatever was necessary to protect Michael. At Kelly's, Lulu thanked Maxie for covering for her at work. Maxie assured Lulu that she understood because Lulu was grieving for Jake. Maxie wondered how Lulu was holding up, so Lulu confessed that she felt like she was on overload. Maxie offered to take Lulu to a spa, but Lulu declined because she needed time to figure out her family issues. Lulu explained that Luke had attempted to burn down the Haunted Star and that Lucky was stuck on being hurt and angry. Lulu thought perhaps Elizabeth might help Lucky to move forward, but Maxie insisted that Lulu should avoid pushing Lucky and Elizabeth together because it would make things worse. Lulu thought that was harsh of Maxie to say. Maxie insisted that she was sympathetic to Elizabeth's loss, but she doubted that Lucky and Elizabeth's problems would magically disappear because they had lost a child. Lulu argued that grieving together was a part of the healing process. "Says who?" Maxie wondered. Maxie explained that it was one thing if Lucky and Elizabeth reconciled on their own, but it would be a disaster if Lulu tried to push them together. Dante returned home to find Lulu leaving a message for Lucky. After Lulu ended the call, Dante wondered if everything were okay. Lulu confessed that things were worse between Luke and Lucky because Lucky wanted to wash his hands of Luke. Lulu revealed that Lucky couldn't deal with Luke's alcoholism while Lucky was struggling with the grief of losing Jake. Lulu had reminded Lucky that Luke was in pain, so she had urged Lucky to have more faith in Luke. Dante realized that it was tough dealing with family problems. Lulu was curious if they were talking about her family or Dante's family. Dante told her about his suspicions that Johnny might be trying to set up Michael to get to Sonny. Lulu conceded that it sounded like more than a coincidence that Brandon had hired the Zacchara family attorney, but she doubted that Johnny would frame Michael for murder. According to Lulu, Johnny wasn't amoral, and he had a soft spot for children raised in the mob. Lulu insisted that Johnny had always felt bad that he hadn't been able to stop Claudia from getting Michael shot. Dante wondered if he had been looking at the situation from the wrong angle; perhaps Johnny had killed Brandon as a favor to Michael. Michael arrived home after Lulu left. Michael was furious that Dante had talked to Sonny instead of to him. Michael insisted that he wasn't stupid or weak. Dante explained that Sonny had a right to know what was going on, but Michael argued that it would have helped if Michael had known about Dante's suspicions when Michael had talked to Johnny. Dante was curious when Michael had met with Johnny, so Michael told Dante about his request for permission to question the employees at Vaughn's. Dante warned Michael that stay clear of the strip club because the cops might suspect that Michael had something to hide. Michael admitted that Johnny had cautioned him about the same thing. Dante insisted that nothing good could happen if Michael became involved in the investigation. Michael refused to do nothing while he, Abby, and Jason were suspects. Dante realized that Michael was desperate to be in control of things because he had felt powerless in Pentonville. "Yeah, you're damn right," Michael responded. 4/14 At the loft, Michael accused Dante of pushing Sonny and Johnny closer to a mob war. Dante suggested that Michael could keep the peace by severing all ties with Johnny, but Michael resented being told what to do. Michael insisted that he needed to find the killer to clear himself, Abby, and Jason as suspects in Brandon's murder. Dante argued that it was his job to do, not Michael's. Michael began to rant about how the system had failed him, so Michael needed Johnny's help to find the person who had murdered Brandon. "Oh, cut the crap Michael," Dante snapped. Dante believed that Michael was just looking for an excuse to work with Johnny, so that Michael could get into the mob. Dante suggested that Michael wanted to prove that he was as good of a criminal as Sonny, but Dante insisted that all Michael would just throw his life away. Michael insisted that he wasn't incompetent. Dante clarified that he had never said that; Dante acknowledged that Michael had dealt with more than Dante ever could have. Michael was curious if Dante could have fought off Carter. Dante admitted, "I don't know." Michael was certain that Dante was just staying that because Dante didn't want to admit that Michael was weak. Michael insisted that he wanted to be strong. Dante didn't think that aligning himself with thieves and killers was the way. Dante argued that Sonny didn't want that for Michael. Dante made an impassioned plea for Michael to reconsider his choices, but the speech had little impact on Michael. Dante realized that all he could do was assure Michael that he would always love Michael because they were brothers. Sonny was in a foul mood when Dante entered the parlor of Greystone Manor. Sonny warned Dante that Johnny was becoming a problem because Johnny was trying to recruit Michael. Dante pointed out that they couldn't do anything about it if Michael were receptive to Johnny's offer. Sonny made it clear that he expected Dante to do whatever was necessary, including bending the law, to keep Johnny away from Michael. Dante refused to twist the law to serve his needs. Dante admitted that he couldn't blame Michael from trying to follow in Sonny's footsteps because Sonny was married to a supermodel, and answered to no one while someone like Dante was just an underpaid cop. Sonny urged Dante to make Michael understand that Michael had the potential to be better than Sonny. 4/20 At Kelly's, Sonny's children gathered at Molly's request. Molly explained that she had something to discuss with them that was vital to their family. Molly outlined her plan and then asked for everyone's cooperation. Kristina, Michael, and Morgan readily agreed, but Dante was reluctant because he feared that something might go wrong, despite their best intentions. Kristina and Michael joined forces to change Dante's mind. Later, Dante approached Molly. Molly quickly introduced Dante to Shawn, but they revealed that they had already met. Dante was curious how Molly knew Shawn, so she explained that they had met by accident shortly after Shawn's arrival in town. Shawn excused himself, so Dante questioned Molly about what she knew about the mercenary. Sonny left his office but then stopped short when he noticed a cake, with lit candles, on a table. Seconds later, Alexis, Carly, and the children jumped out of their hiding places to yell, "Surprise!" Sonny was touched that they had remembered his birthday. The kids quickly credited Molly for arranging the birthday party. Molly confessed that she had hoped to have it at Greystone Manor, but Brenda had feared that it might overwhelm Lucian. 4/21 Lulu decided to surprise Dante by showing up at the police station to spend Dante's break with him. Dante explained that he had just returned from his break and then told Lulu about Sonny's party. Lulu wondered if the party had been fun, but Dante confessed that he had spent the whole time worrying about Michael because Michael wanted to join the mob. Lulu doubted that Carly would allow it, but Dante suggested that it was too late. Dante pointed out that Michael had been raised in the mob, and Michael was old enough to make his own choices. Dante confessed that he was certain that Johnny was looking for some kind of leverage over Sonny. Lulu realized that Sonny wouldn't be able to go after Johnny if Michael worked for the Zaccharas. She didn't understand why Sonny couldn't give Michael a safe low-level position in the Corinthos organization. Dante suggested that Michael would have to change his view of things if Michael were to accept a safe job. Lulu suspected that Johnny might see his own organization as a safe alternative. Dante explained that it didn't matter because Michael's parole would be jeopardized if the judge got wind of Michael's association with Johnny. Dante was also concerned about Michael's involvement in Brandon's murder. Lulu was stunned that Dante seemed to suspect that Michael might have had something to do with it. She reminded Dante that Brandon had been shot in the head twice, so she wondered if Dante could see Michael committing such a violent crime. Dante suggested that anything was possible if Michael were trying to act like Jason. Dante admitted that, from a cop's perspective, Michael looked guilty. Later, Dante left a voicemail message for Angela Dwyer to return his call because he had some questions regarding Brandon. Ronnie suggested that it might not be a good idea for Dante to question Angela because she had a reputation for being a barracuda. Dante explained that he just needed to know who had paid for her to represent Brandon. Ronnie reminded Dante that it was considered privileged information, but Dante argued that Brandon was dead, so she was free to discuss it. Ronnie warned Dante that it was a waste of time to pursue Johnny as a suspect. Dante reminded Ronnie that Angela represented the Zaccharas, but Ronnie clarified that Johnny couldn't have killed Brandon because new evidence had surfaced linking Michael to the murder. Lulu went to see Johnny about recruiting Michael. Johnny insisted that Michael could have a job in the Zacchara organization if Michael wanted it. Lulu reminded Johnny of the night that they had learned that Michael had been shot. She recalled that Johnny had suggested that Johnny, Sonny, and Jason were hypocrites for claiming that they had honor when innocent people were hurt by the mob's cycle of violence. Lulu pleaded with Johnny not to allow Michael to become a part of the business that Johnny had always claimed to hate. Dante showed up at Jason's to discuss Michael's situation. Dante clarified that he was there as Michael's brother, not a cop. Jason realized that something had happened, so Dante told Jason that a bystander had cell phone footage of Michael aiming a gun at Brandon and then Jason walking up just before the video had cut off. Jason insisted that Michael hadn't killed Brandon. Dante wondered if that were a confession because Dante was desperate to help Michael. Jason vowed that Michael would never be convicted of Brandon's murder. Dante appreciated that Jason was willing to take the fall for Michael, but he warned Jason that it might be too late. 4/22 Jason and Dante entered the interrogation room at the PCPD. Jason immediately ordered Diane and Michael to leave. Diane decided to show Jason and Dante the footage of Michael confronting Brandon in the alley behind Vaughn's. Diane pointed out that the grainy footage had been captured from behind, so it was impossible to tell if Michael had been holding anything in his hand, much less a gun. To Ronnie's disgust, Dante agreed with Diane's assessment. Ronnie warned Dante that Dante was skating on thin ice by running to Jason after the evidence had surfaced. Diane was outraged that Ronnie had berated a fellow police officer for pointing out an obvious flaw in the evidence. Ronnie urged Dante to get out as soon as possible, unless Dante didn't mind "the brass" thinking that Dante was knee deep in a murder cover-up. Diane argued that Ronnie's conduct had been much more questionable. Diane accused Ronnie of wasting their time with the flimsy evidence. Ronnie denied any wrongdoing, and pointed out that he had even made certain that Michael had legal counsel present for the questioning. Dante reminded Ronnie that it didn't matter because the videotape wasn't sufficient evidence to charge Michael with murder. Ronnie looked to Jason to see if Jason might confess to protect Michael, but Jason didn't fall for the bait. Ronnie was forced to let Michael go, but advised Michael and Jason to get their affairs in order because one of them would be going to jail. After Jason and Michael left, Diane warned Ronnie that his bias was showing. Ronnie urged Diane to talk to Dante because Dante would be facing an internal affairs investigation sooner than Dante realized. After Ronnie stormed out, Dante made it clear that he refused to let Michael return to Pentonville. At Johnny's penthouse, Lulu recalled a time that Johnny had wanted to get out of the mob. Johnny reminded her that his attempt to live a straight life had been an epic failure. Lulu insisted that Michael was in a vulnerable place, so she begged Johnny to show some humanity and restraint by leaving Michael alone. Johnny was disappointed that Lulu couldn't see that Johnny wanted to help Michael. Johnny questioned if Lulu remembered why she had fallen for Johnny. Lulu admitted that he had been crazy and reckless, which was what she had needed at the time. Johnny confessed that he had also been naïve because he had believed that he had a say in his own destiny. Lulu thought that everyone did, but Johnny insisted that they were just products of their environments. Johnny reminded her of his twisted childhood and then insisted that he had been destined to live a life of crime. Lulu hated that he had made it sound hopeless, but Johnny assured her that there were some upsides to the life he led. Johnny had traded safe and secure for money, power, and freedom. "Freedom to wreak havoc?" Lulu wondered. Lulu was curious what had happened to the guy who had wanted nothing to do with the mob. "He opened a chop-shop and almost choked on the fumes," Johnny replied. Johnny explained that he had found his place in the world when he had taken over the organization after Anthony's arrest. Johnny suggested that Michael was just like him; they were both disillusioned with the law because everyone was corrupt. Lulu argued that there were good cops like Dante and that people could find happiness without living a life of crime. She warned Johnny to leave Michael alone because Michael had a soul. Lulu entered the Kelly’s. Carly invited Lulu to have a seat and then explained that she wanted Lulu to talk to Johnny. Lulu admitted that she had already done so and then told Carly about the visit. Dante went to Abby's apartment to talk to her about Michael's situation. Abby was stunned when Dante seemed to indicate that Michael might have killed Brandon. Dante explained that Michael had a terrible temper especially when Michael was in protective mode. Abby insisted that Michael hadn't killed Brandon, but Dante was curious how she could be so certain. Abby wondered how Dante could have doubts about Michael. Dante switched tactics by suggesting that Abby might have killed Brandon. Dante conceded that Brandon had abused and stalked Abby. He reminded her that there were hospital records and a paper trail to establish a history of domestic violence, so a judge would be very lenient with Abby. However, Michael would not be as lucky because it would be Michael's second conviction. Abby was furious that Dante had failed keep Brandon locked up, but Dante argued that Abby had dropped the charges against Brandon. Dante agreed to keep looking for other suspects, but he warned her that he would not let Michael go to jail for a crime that she had committed if it turned out that Abby was the killer. 4/25 Sonny called Dante to his home and urged him to destroy the phone video evidence against Michael. Dante told Sonny that he never learned. He said that the last time Sonny had tried to cover up a crime it had resulted in a prison sentence for Michael. Sonny said he did not want to see Michael go back to prison. Dante said he did not want Michael to go back to prison either, but he would not sacrifice his badge. He asked Sonny if he even card if Michael was innocent. Sonny said that in Michael's place he would have killed Brandon. Dante said that he thought that Michael was innocent and would prove it. Sonny said that while Dante looked for the real killer the DA would use the video to railroad Michael. He begged Dante to destroy the evidence. When Dante refused again, Sonny asked why he would cover up for Brenda and not Michael. Dante said that his actions had caused a world of grief for Brenda. He said he had promised himself that he would never compromise his badge again. When Sonny said that Dante's badge was more important than his brother, Dante told Sonny to stop trying to cover up because his actions would only make things worse. Dante arrived back at PCPD and saw Ronnie booking Abby. He approached Ronnie and wanted to know what was going on? Ronnie told Dante to get Michael to leave. He said that Michael had already lost his temper once and that if Michael got in his face again he would bust him. Dante took Ronnie aside and asked about the evidence. Ronnie said it did not turn out the way he wanted it to because he had been hoping to pin the crime on Jason. Back at the PCPC, Abby told Michael to go home because nothing could be done until she was arraigned. Michael said that he did not want her to be put in jail. She said it had been much worse the time that all the strippers from the club had been arrested and she had been in costume. Michael said it was not fair because Ronnie knew she was innocent and was just trying to force Jason's hand. Jason agreed with Michael that Ronnie was trying to provoke Michael so that Jason would confess to keep Michael from going back to prison. Abby said that if that was Ronnie's plan, then Michael could foil it by not playing into it. She told Michael to stay calm and not give Ronnie the satisfaction. Michael said he hated to see Abby hurt because of him. Abby said that it was not his fault. She said that Brandon had been in her life long before Michael. Dante left Ronnie in the interrogation room and took Michael and Jason aside. When Michael asked why Ronnie had arrested Abby, Dante said that an eyewitness had identified Abby as the person who shot Brandon. Michael got irate and insisted that the witness was lying. When Dante said that he thought Abby was guilty, Michael decked him and started shouting that Dante was railroading Abby to get back at Sonny and Jason. Ronnie wanted to arrest Michael for assaulting a police officer, but Dante said it was a disagreement between brothers and encouraged Jason to get Michael out of the police station. Michael evaded Jason and would not leave. Instead he said that there was no way anyone could have seen Abby shoot Brandon and then confessed that he was the one who had shot Brandon. 4/26 At the police station, Jason tried to get Michael to leave, but Michael was determined to confess to killing Brandon. Michael insisted that Abby had nothing to do with the murder, but neither Ronnie nor Dante believed Michael's confession. However, Ronnie was ready to accept it if Jason didn't step forward to take responsibility for the crime. Jason decided to wait for Diane's arrival, which didn't surprise Ronnie. Abby pleaded with Michael to retract his confession. She explained that Michael didn't have to lie for her because she hadn't killled Brandon. Dante revealed that a regular at the club had witnessed Abby shoot Brandon. Michael couldn't believe that a patron of a strip club was considered a reliable witness. Dante assured Abby that a judge would be lenient with her because of her history with Brandon. Jason made another effort to persuade Michael to leave, but Michael refused to budge. Abby was booked and then led to the interrogation room. Michael demanded to see Abby a short time later, but Jason thought that it would be best if Jason talked to Abby first. Michael agreed, but Dante pointed out that Jason and Michael didn't have any legal right to see Abby since neither was an attorney. Michael played the brother card in an attempt to change Dante's mind. Dante was curious where that brotherly bond had been when Michael had punched him. "Please," Michael pleaded. Dante relented, much to Ronnie's disapproval. Dante entered the interrogation room with a latte, which he handed to Abby. Dante thanked Abby for getting Michael out of the police station, but Abby just glared at Dante. Dante tried to break the ice by acknowledging that the legal system had let her down by releasing Brandon; however he was concerned about Michael. Abby admitted that she was also afraid for Michael. Dante tried to persuade Abby to open up to him, but Abby refused to talk. Dante admitted that he feared that Abby might have told Jason something that would prompt Jason to cover up the truth about Brandon's murder. Dante warned her that it would just make things worse for Michael. Abby made it clear that she didn't trust Dante, so Dante explained that he just wanted to help Michael. Abby denied any involvement in Brandon's murder and then suggested that she had been set up. Dante wondered who would want to frame her for murder. 4/27 Lulu and Ethan arrived at Lucky's apartment. Lucky explained that he had called because Luke was in trouble, so the family had to stage an intervention. "Absolutely not," Lulu replied. Lulu was certain that Luke would just shut down, while Ethan feared that Luke would feel as if everyone were ganging up against Luke. Lucky argued that Luke desperately needed their help, but Lulu insisted that they just had to keep Luke from bottoming out. Lucky revealed that Luke had hit rock bottom, and then told them about Luke's plan to force Jason's hand. Lucky warned them that Luke would end up dead if something weren't done. Lulu continued to deny that Luke had a drinking problem. She insisted that Luke had been drinking a lot lately to push Lucky's buttons. Lulu believed that Lucky simply had to tell Luke that he loved him unconditionally to make Luke stop drinking. Ethan suggested that Lulu's happy scenario was faulty because she was under the impression that Luke's drinking was the problem. Ethan explained that the drinking was merely a symptom of a far greater problem, and that Jake's death had pushed Luke to the brink. Lucky realized that it was painful to accept that Luke had a problem, but they were running out of time. Moments later, Tracy and Nikolas arrived. Lucky insisted that it was urgent that they find Luke before Luke got himself killed. Lulu hoped that Luke stayed gone; she insisted that addiction was Lucky's problem, not Luke's. Lulu declared that she would be ashamed to be a part of an intervention for their father and then stormed out. Lulu was out of breath and distraught as she burst into Luke's office. Tracy appeared in the doorway seconds later. Tracy attempted to make Lulu understand that Luke needed help, but Lulu refused to accept that Luke had a drinking problem. Tracy warned Lulu that they would lose Luke if he didn't get help. Lulu argued that Luke would just take off and never return if they all confronted him. "Good, then we have nothing to lose," Tracy replied. Lulu couldn't understand why it seemed like Tracy didn't care. Tracy insisted that refusing to allow Luke to destroy himself was her way of showing that she cared about her husband. Tracy assured Lulu that admitting that Luke had a problem didn't mean that Lulu loved Luke less. Lulu cried that they couldn't just give up on Luke, but Tracy argued that they were just being honest. Lulu confessed that if she admitted that Luke was an alcoholic then she would essentially be saying that Jake had died because of Luke's negligence. Tracy explained that they would never know if Luke's drinking had affected the way that he had driven on that fateful night, but they could be certain that Luke needed their help. 4/28 At one of Sonny's warehouses, Luke slowly woke up to the sound of his friends and loved ones talking in hushed tones around him. Luke looked down to discover that he had been duct-tapped to a chair. A man suddenly entered the room and then explained that those close to Luke had gathered for an intervention. The man assured Luke that Luke's family and friends loved Luke. "Well, love me less," Luke snapped. Luke demanded to know how he had ended up strapped to a chair. The question became moot when Luke recalled drinking with Ethan at Jake's, suddenly everything fell into place for Luke. Lucky offered to untie Luke if Luke agreed to hear them out. Luke made it clear that he didn't have any intention of cooperating, so he was left secured to the chair. Luke's eyes drifted around the room to see Carly, Sonny, Tracy, Nikolas, Lulu, Lucky, and Ethan take their seats in a circle around him. Luke was curious if they thought that there was safety in numbers. Luke was disappointed that each of the people gathered hadn't respected him enough to talk to him individually. Tracy spoke for everyone when she assured Luke that they had tried, to no avail. Luke demanded to know who the "clown" was leading the intervention. Calvin Blaine introduced himself and then revealed that he was an interventionist. Calvin explained that the family had asked Calvin to guide them through the intervention. Luke insisted that Calvin was wasting everyone's time because Luke refused to be "interventioned." Luke ordered Calvin to take his tough love and enlightenment and "stuff it." Calvin ignored Luke's hostility as he explained that Luke merely had to listen to what everyone had to say. Luke glared accusingly at Lucky. Calvin told Luke that the family was concerned about Luke's drinking, so they would each read a letter that they had written to Luke. Luke angrily accused everyone of blaming alcohol for Jake's death, but he vehemently denied that he was an alcoholic. Everyone ignored Luke's outburst as Calvin invited Lulu to read her letter. Luke sensed Lulu's uncertainty. He blamed Lulu's brothers, and Tracy, for pressuring Lulu to participate in the intervention, so he assured her that it was okay not to read the letter. Lulu's eyes filled with tears as she quietly began to read. Lulu assured Luke that she loved him, but she acknowledged that he hadn't been around for much of her childhood. Luke was startled when the restraints suddenly melted away as everyone faded from the room except for Luke and Lulu. Luke stood up, but didn't leave as he faced Lulu while she confessed that she had never been fond of ice fishing. However, she had looked forward to little trips while she was growing up because it had meant that she could spend time with Luke. Lulu insisted that she could never hate Luke because he was her father and therefore, her world. Luke looked up to find a memory of the past playing out like a movie on the wall. In the memory, Luke and Lulu sat in Luke's car outside of a clinic. Luke offered to take Lulu to Europe if she had any doubts, but Lulu assured him that she was prepared to go through with the abortion. Lulu thanked Luke for being a wonderful and supportive father and then gently explained that she wanted to enter the clinic alone. Luke seemed surprised until Lulu revealed that it wasn't something that she felt comfortable doing with her father. Luke offered to wait in the parking lot, but Lulu assured him that she would call a cab when she was ready to go home. The intervention continued with Lulu crediting Luke for helping her through one of the most difficult times in her life. It terrified Lulu that Luke had turned destructive and suicidal. Lulu realized, as she had prepared for the intervention, that Luke had a problem, so she urged him to get help because she needed her father in her life. Luke insisted that Lulu was wrong about him because he wasn't an alcoholic. Luke became emotional as he insisted that he didn't want to remain in the warehouse another minute. Calvin explained that everyone had expressed their concerns for Luke, and their desire for Luke to seek treatment. Calvin revealed that the family had made arrangements for Luke to immediately enter a facility, so Lucky, Ethan, and Lulu were prepared to drive Luke to Shadybrook for inpatient treatment. Luke was stunned that his family wanted to put him in a "rubber room." Luke was adamant that he refused to go. Calvin assured Luke that it was Luke's decision; however, there would be consequences if Luke chose not to seek treatment. Calvin started with Nikolas. Luke turned to Nikolas as Nikolas revealed that his doors would be closed to Luke if Luke didn't go to rehab. "Ouch, that hurts," Luke sarcastically replied. Sonny explained that he wouldn't be able to be there for Luke, in any capacity, if Luke didn't get help. Carly warned Luke that Luke would not be welcomed at Metro Court, so he wouldn't enjoy the benefits of a free place to sleep, free food, and definitely no free alcohol. Ethan vowed not to include Luke in on any of his cons. Tracy insisted that Luke would be banned from the Haunted Star, cut off from all of the funds, not be welcomed in her family's home, nor would he be invited into Tracy's bed. Lulu promised to cut off all contact with her father if Luke refused to go to Shadybrook. Lucky also vowed that Luke wouldn't be welcomed in his home or life if Luke didn't seek treatment. Calvin gave Luke another opportunity to accept the help that was being offered, but Luke refused. Ethan stepped forward to remove the duct tape. Afterwards, Luke stood up and then slowly smoothed the lapels of his jacket. Luke hoped that they had all enjoyed their creative writing because he hadn't. Luke assured each of them that they could pat themselves on the back for trying, but they could write him off as an "unrepentant bastard" who had killed a four-year old. Lucky warned Luke that Luke had completely missed the point, but Luke didn't care. Luke announced that there was a bottle with his name on it and then excused himself. Everyone appeared sad as they watched Luke walk out of the warehouse. In the alley, Luke took a moment to compose. 4/29 Abby, Michael, Jason, and Dante arrived at Abby's apartment after the arraignment. She thanked Jason for posting bail and hiring Diane Miller to defend her. Michael got hot and insisted that Abby was innocent. Dante said that was not the point. Jason said that someone had gone to a lot of trouble to frame Abby, and when they figured out who, they could figure out how and why. Jason said he had to leave but would be back later. Michael told Dante how much he appreciated Dante's help. Dante said if Michael was laying it on so that Dante would let his stay with Abby, he was wasting his time. Dante said up until that moment, he had not cared that Michael was staying at Abby's because that gave him time with Lulu, but since Michael's parole was at stake, Dante could not look the other way. Abby took Dante's side and told Michael they had to be careful. Dante told Michael to be home by curfew and left the couple alone. Sonny called Dante to the house and found out that they agreed that Michael should stop seeing Abby until the real murderer was found. Sonny also called Michael to the house. Michael told Sonny how much Abby appreciated his help. Sonny told Michael to stop seeing Abby and not to do anything stupid, like making a false confession. 5/2 Both Sonny and Dante cautioned Michael about continuing to see Abby. Sonny said it was common sense to steer clear. Michael retorted that common sense was to help Abby. Sonny said he was not going to let Michael go back to prison. He said that lots of people had put themselves on the line for Michael and would be hurt if his parole were revoked. Sonny told Michael that many people, including Abby needed him. He asked why Michael was willing to risk Pentonville. Sonny's phone rang. When he answered it, Robin was on the other end with word that Lucian had disappeared. Sonny told Michael that their conversation was not finished before he left with Dante. At Kelly's, Sonny and Dante arrived after news that Brenda’s son had disapeared. Brenda's hysteria had reached fever pitch. She was sure that one of Sonny's competitors was responsible for Lucian's disappearance. Dante asked Sonny if Brenda could be right. Sonny said Johnny had been too busy framing Abby. He said that a more likely candidate was Suzanne and gave Dante the details. Dante looked for Suzanne at Kelly's but found Lulu instead. She told him about the failed intervention with Luke and worried that Luke was somewhere drowning in a bottle. Dante said he wished he could fix everything for Lulu. They hugged. Dante called Suzanne down to the police station to find out where she had been when Lucian was kidnapped. She said that she had been on a conference call with ASEC. Dante told her that she had been unusually calm when she had been told at Kelly's that Lucian had disappeared. Dante said that it was almost like Suzanne knew that Lucian was okay. Dante said that Susanne might even know Lucian's whereabouts. 5/3 At the police station, Dante speculated that Suzanne had changed her mind about Brenda raising Lucian because Suzanne wanted her grandson to herself. Suzanne accused Dante of trying to pin Lucian's disappearance on her because she was an easy target. Suzanne admitted that she regretted giving Lucian to Brenda because Lucian had been abducted after just a few days in Brenda's custody. Suzanne urged Dante to continue to search for Lucian instead of trying to shift the blame on her. Dante decided to verify Suzanne's alibi, which quickly checked out. Suzanne smiled with satisfaction. Dante confessed that something about Suzanne had never added up. Dante questioned why a woman who had lost her son would befriend the person she believed was responsible for her son's death. Dante suspected that Suzanne had returned Lucian to Brenda because she wanted Brenda to experience what it felt like to lose a child. "Oh, how Machiavellian of me," Suzanne replied. Dante insisted that it made sense, but Suzanne accused Dante of being Sonny's puppet. Sonny arrived at the police station a short time later. Sonny admitted to Dante that Brenda suspected that a mob rival had kidnapped Lucian. Dante explained that he had called Sonny because Suzanne had been questioned. Dante shared the details of his interview with Suzanne and then admitted that he suspected that Suzanne was behind the kidnapping. Dante pointed out that if Suzanne had taken Lucian then at least they knew that Lucian was safe. Sonny worried that his marriage would be over if it a rival mobster had snatched Lucian. Anthony was all smiles as he shoved bundles of money into a large manila envelope and then handed it to a tall woman wearing a blonde wig. Anthony admitted that the woman looked a lot like Abby with the wig, but he instructed her to get rid of the incriminating fake locks. Anthony appreciated the efforts that she had made to frame Abby, so he had included a bonus to help the woman relocate. 5/4 Dante entered Kelly's to find Lulu working on Kate's expense report. Dante was curious why she was doing her work at Kelly's, so Lulu reminded him that the coffee was free to family members. Dante realized that rooms were also free, so he suspected that Luke had taken a room above Kelly's after Tracy had tossed Luke out. Dante wondered if Lulu hoped to run into her father. Lulu realized that she wasn't supposed to have contact with Luke until he went to rehab, but she couldn't forget his expression of betrayal during the intervention. Dante suggested that Jake's death should have been enough to open Luke's eyes. Lulu confided that she hoped to see Luke descend the stairs with his bags packed, and ready to forgive her for her role in the intervention. Lulu understood the concept of tough love, but she insisted that Luke wasn't the type to follow the rules, so she had her doubts that he would respond to their efforts to help. Lulu was frustrated because she couldn't fix things, but Dante argued that it wasn't her responsibility; the ball was in Luke's court. Dante advised Lulu to focus on something else for a while. Lulu was curious what he had in mind, so Dante suggested a Yankees game, which he was confident would distract her from her problems for a short time. Dante offered to take her to a game the following week. Lulu didn't have an opportunity to respond because Luke suddenly appeared. Luke assured Lulu that he didn't hold the "idiotic" intervention against her. Luke then began to complain about Tracy locking him out of the Haunted Star, but he bragged that he had an "inside man." Luke was certain that Ethan would "come around" just as Lulu had. Lulu assured Luke that she loved him, but she refused to allow Luke to be a part of her life until he went to rehab. Luke was stunned as Lulu and Dante left. Diane went to the police station to talk to Dante. Diane spotted a small box on Dante's desk, so she was curious if he intended to propose to Lulu. Dante clarified that the box didn't contain a ring, so Diane wondered, "Earrings? Tennis bracelet? Keys to a Porsche?" Dante revealed that he intended to surprise Lulu with tickets to a baseball game. "Isn't Lulu a lucky girl?" Diane responded. Dante assumed that Diane was there to get an update for Sonny on Lucian's kidnapping, so he revealed that the FBI had taken over the case. Diane admitted that she was there on an unrelated matter and then told him about the success of her novel. Diane explained that Spinelli had acted strangely when she had asked to see his case files for the new book, so she needed Dante to help her uncover what "deep, dark secret" Spinelli was hiding. Lulu was startled to see Elizabeth working near the nurses' station. Elizabeth wondered if Nikolas or Lucky had sent Lulu to check up on her. Lulu assured Elizabeth that she hadn't realized that Elizabeth had been working; however, Lulu was curious how Elizabeth was doing. Elizabeth revealed that it was her first day back at work. Lulu explained that she had stopped by the hospital because Alfred had told her that Nikolas had been scheduled to attend a board meeting. Elizabeth wondered if everything were okay. "No," Lulu admitted, but she doubted that Elizabeth wanted to hear about it. Elizabeth assured Lulu that she knew about the intervention. Lulu confided that Luke was pretending that he was okay when it was clear that Luke was in trouble. Elizabeth realized that they had all been sitting in a weird holding pattern since Jake's death; they knew that they needed to move forward, but they didn't want to because they were afraid that they'd forget Jake. Elizabeth understood Luke's desire for everything to return to normal. Elizabeth admitted that it was difficult for her to be back at work because she kept expecting her three boys to be waiting for her in the daycare center. However, then it hit her that Jake was gone. Lulu wished that she could help, but she feared that Elizabeth wouldn't want it. Elizabeth was curious why Lulu thought that. Lulu reminded Elizabeth that Luke had killed Jake, but Elizabeth insisted that it had been an accident. Lulu couldn't understand how Elizabeth could be so forgiving. Elizabeth reminded Lulu that Luke hadn't been the only person to make a mistake that night. Lulu argued that Elizabeth was a wonderful mother, so she wasn't to blame for the tragedy. Elizabeth confessed that she missed Jake's crooked smile and the way that he would bury his head in her neck when they hugged. Elizabeth realized that her grief would eventually become her new normal, so she needed to focus on putting one foot in front of the other. Elizabeth suddenly stopped mid-sentence when she spotted Jake playing with his toy motorcycle by the elevator. "Oh, God," Elizabeth whispered as Lulu glanced at the elevator and then asked, "What's wrong?" 5/5 At the nurses' station, Elizabeth had a vision of Jake playing with his motorcycle by the elevators. Elizabeth quickly looked away and then apologized to Lulu. Elizabeth explained that she kept seeing Jake everywhere, but she knew that the visions weren't real. Lulu led Elizabeth to some a nearby chair, so that Elizabeth could sit down. Lulu wondered how long Elizabeth had been having visions of Jake. Elizabeth acknowledged that it hadn't been an isolated incident. Lulu couldn't imagine how Elizabeth dealt with the pain of losing a child. Elizabeth confessed that it was overwhelming at times, but Cameron and Aiden helped her through the most difficult periods because they gave her purpose. Lulu suggested that perhaps Elizabeth was seeing Jake because Elizabeth wasn't ready to let her son go. Elizabeth pulled herself together and then explained that she needed to get back to work. Lulu realized that they'd had their issues, but she wanted Elizabeth to know that she had always considered Elizabeth family. Lulu promised to be available if Elizabeth needed someone to talk to. Lulu went to the Haunted Star to find Ethan getting ready to open the casino for the evening. Ethan confessed that he wondered if they had done the right thing by turning their backs on Luke. Lulu insisted that Luke had a problem, and was in denial, but Ethan wondered if they should find another way to help Luke. Lulu admitted that she might have had a different answer if he had asked her earlier that morning. However, she'd had an encounter with Luke at Kelly's that had changed her mind. Lulu revealed that Luke had shown up at Kelly's, drunk and ranting. According to Lulu, it had been embarrassing and sad to see their father like that. Lulu explained that alcoholics needed to hit rock bottom before they were ready to accept help, but Ethan disagreed. Ethan admitted that it was wrong of him to be sanctimonious when he had been matching Luke drink-for-drink. Ethan confessed that he didn't want to admit that Luke needed help because Ethan had settled for living his life exactly like Luke. Ethan acknowledged that Luke's hedonistic lifestyle had appealed to him. Lulu assured Ethan that she understood his reluctance to turn his back on Luke. Ethan promised that he wanted to help Luke, but he didn't want to do it by cutting their father off. Moments later, Alexis entered the casino. Alexis told Lulu and Ethan about Luke's lawsuit. Alexis explained that she was trying to assess the situation before she made a decision on whether or not to represent Luke. Lulu suggested that Luke was trying to shift the focus off of himself with the lawsuit, so that he could continue to drink. Alexis was curious if Lulu and Ethan thought that Luke was an alcoholic. Lulu insisted that she knew that Luke was an alcoholic, but she suggested that Alexis talk with Ethan if Alexis wanted to go through with the bogus lawsuit. 5/6 Dante and Sonny discussed Brandon's murder and reaffirmed the need for Michael to stay away from Abby until the investigation was complete. Sonny shared his exasperation over Lucian's kidnapping and worried that Brenda might be pushed over the edge unless the boy was found soon. Dante suggested that Suzanne was his top suspect. Sonny questioned why Suzanne would have given custody to Brenda so easily. He also wondered if it was a coincidence that Lucian had disappeared just before they'd been able to do a DNA test. As Luke poured another drink, Lulu walked in and demanded that he go to rehab. She accused Ethan of enabling Luke's addiction and said that, should anything happen to Luke, Ethan would blame himself. 5/9 Dante and Sonny were in the living room of Sonny's mansion as they talked about Suzanne and a plan to flush her out. Sonny called one of his criminal friends who said he would find her and report back to Sonny. Dante was not sure that he should be working with a criminal, but Sonny said that Suzanne had criminal connections and they had to have equality with her. Sonny asked Dante to get the surveillance footage from the airport where Suzanne had landed. Sonny was convinced that Suzanne could be lured back to Port Charles as long as she did not know that they suspected her and they did not tip their hand. Sonny told Dante that he had to get Brenda's child back for her and that the only way was to find Suzanne, lure her out of hiding, and get the child while she was in Port Charles. Dante and Sonny watched Brenda's televised appeal. She showed pictures of Suzanne and Lucian and accused Suzanne of kidnapping. She offered a five million dollar reward and begged Suzanne to return Lucian to her. Sonny and Dante were appalled that they no longer had the element of surprise on their side. Both expressed doubt about ever seeing Suzanne or Lucian again after Brenda made the kidnapping and suspected kidnapper public knowledge. 5/12 At Greystone Manor, Spinelli started to update Sonny and Dante about the progress that he had made in the search for Suzanne when Brenda entered the parlor. Brenda immediately sensed that they had information about Lucian's whereabouts, but Sonny refused to tell Brenda anything. Brenda resented being left in the dark about the search for her son; she suspected that they were mad at her for making a public appeal for information, and offering a reward. Dante explained that the press conference had alerted the police that Lucian had been taken by his grandmother, which meant that it was no longer a priority. Brenda was outraged. Brenda decided to ask Jax to help her find her son, but Sonny reminded Brenda that Jax had already given her poor advice by suggesting the news conference, which had tipped Suzanne off. Brenda insisted that she would find a way to track down Suzanne and then confront her about abducting Lucian. Sonny advised Brenda against it because Suzanne always played Brenda "like a piano." Brenda didn't care what anyone said because she would do whatever was necessary to get her son back. After Brenda stormed out, Sonny turned to Spinelli and Dante to make certain that they understood that Brenda was not to be involved in Lucian's rescue. Sonny explained that Brenda was too emotional, so she would do more harm than good. Sonny was determined to find Lucian as soon as possible because he realized that his marriage was on the line. Later, Spinelli revealed that he had managed to locate a car that had been purchased in San Antonio with money from one of Theo's secret accounts. Sonny and Dante decided to fly to San Antonio, but Dante revealed that normally the police would have a social worker present during the recovery of a kidnapped child to help take care of the traumatized child. Sonny considered it for a moment and then revealed that he knew who to ask. At the loft, Lulu was on the phone with Maxie when Tracy stopped by. Tracy was curious if Lulu had talked to Alexis about Luke's lawsuit. Lulu confirmed that she had and then revealed that she had told Alexis that Luke was using the lawsuit to distract everyone from his alcoholism. Tracy was relieved that she and Lulu were on the same page. Lulu warned Tracy that Ethan might not be onboard because Ethan didn't want to believe that Luke had a problem. Tracy recalled that Lulu had also been in denial, so she was curious where Lulu stood since the intervention. Lulu assured Tracy that she recognized that Luke was an alcoholic. Tracy reminded Lulu that they had to stick to their guns if Luke were to get help. Lulu apologized that she couldn't continue the discussion because she was running late for work. Tracy suspected that the true reason that Lulu wanted to leave was because Lulu found her father's situation too painful to talk about. Lulu met Dante at Kelly's. Dante apologized for asking to meet her at the diner. He realized that she might feel uncomfortable if she ran into Luke. Lulu explained that she wasn't seeking Luke out, but she wasn't hiding from her father either. Dante was relieved, so he switched gears to tell her that he had to leave town to help Sonny search for Lucian. Dante clarified that it was personal, not official business. Dante admitted that the search for Lucian had shown Dante glimpses of the Sonny that Dante had befriended when Dante had first arrived in Port Charles. Lulu was happy for Dante because she knew how important it was for Dante to get to know his father. She advised Dante to savor the moment because he might not get another chance. Dante assured Lulu that he wouldn't be giving up the badge, and joining the mob, so it was only a temporary thing. Dante then admitted that he felt bad for Sonny because Brenda was losing it and taking her anger out on Sonny when all Sonny was trying to do was find Brenda's son. Spinelli called to tell Dante that he had traced the car to a house in San Antonio that had been sold three years earlier to a woman named Sherry Scott. Dante ordered Spinelli to gather as much information as possible about Sherry Scott. Afterwards, Dante kissed Lulu and then left. Dante was stunned to find Carly sitting in Sonny's private jet. Dante warned Sonny that Brenda would be furious when she discovered that Carly had joined the rescue party. Sonny reminded Dante that Brenda was emotionally unstable, so she would have been a liability on the trip. Dante confessed that he had been under the impression that Sonny and Carly were on the outs. Sonny clarified that no matter how much he and Carly fought, they always had each other's backs. Dante nodded and then confessed that he had a good feeling about San Antonio. Sonny warned Dante that they would have to improvise the rescue once they landed. Dante was certain that Suzanne wouldn't want Lucian traumatized, but Sonny insisted that they would have to be prepared for Suzanne to put up a fight. Suzanne reunited with her grandson, Alec. Suzanne insisted that everything that she had done was to make certain that Alec grew up safe and away from the bad guys. Alec smiled at his grandmother as she promised him that they would have a good life. "I love you, Grandma," Alec told Suzanne. Suzanne assured Alec that she loved him too, and then dropped her car keys in her purse. 5/13 On Sonny's plane, Sonny, Carly, and Dante strategized to find Suzanne and Lucian. Sonny lamented his track record with regard to keeping his children safe. Carly assured Sonny that he was a good father. Carly and Dante rehashed their mutual animosity over Dante's decision to reveal Michael as Claudia's killer. Sonny stood up for Dante. As the plane prepared to land, Dante urged Sonny to involve local authorities. Sonny declined, because the red tape they'd have to go through would only hinder their mission. Carly worried that Suzanne would have myriad places to hide, due to her many ASEC contacts. After making plans for their arrival in Lucerne, Suzanne and the boy left the house. Not long after, Sonny, Carly, and Dante showed up. Dante called Spinelli and asked him to track Suzanne's car. Spinelli reported that Suzanne was heading away from the airport. He used his hacking skills to disable Suzanne's car's engine. Carly found a photo of a little boy, but it was not Lucian. Sonny wondered whether the boy they knew as Lucian was a decoy. They hypothesized that Suzanne might have spent years arranging the kidnapping to distract Brenda, while Suzanne and her grandson made a life far away. At a playground near where their car had broken down, Suzanne pushed Alec on a swing. She pocketed the knife she'd been carrying in her purse. While Suzanne tied the boy's shoes, Dante, Carly, and Sonny arrived. Sonny accused Suzanne of having arranged for Brenda to bond with a boy who was not Brenda's son. Suzanne admitted that the name of the boy with her was Alec and that he was her grandson. Carly suggested that Alec stay in the car so that he would be protected. A tearful Suzanne allowed Carly to take the boy away. After they walked away, Suzanne explained that she'd done everything she had to protect her grandson from the violence of Sonny's world. She then pulled a knife on Sonny. Dante aimed his gun at her. In the car, Carly told Alec about her kids and the horses they had. As he told her the name of his toy horse, they heard a shot ring out. 5/16 A shot rang out as Carly waited in Sonny's limo with Brenda's son, Alec. Carly distracted him by pretending that it was a firecracker and discussing the dangers. In the park nearby, Dante had fired a warning shot at Suzanne, who held a knife to Sonny's throat. When Sonny and Dante started bickering about whether or not Sonny trusted Jason to take the shot more than he did Dante Suzanne was distracted and Sonny was able to subdue her and take the knife. Dante arrested Suzanne, who pleaded with him not to let Alec see her in handcuffs. Dante was unsympathetic to Suzanne because she had stolen Brenda's unborn child. Sonny said that he did not want Suzanne on the plane with him or Alec. Dante told Sonny to take Alec back to Brenda. He said that he would take Suzanne back to Port Charles. Suzanne begged Dante to keep Alec away from the mob. Lulu went to the loft and was surprised to find Michael studying math instead of out helping track down clues to get Abby off the hook for Brandon's murder. She assured Michael that Dante would start looking into Abby's situation as soon as he returned from helping Sonny rescue Brenda's son. Michael compared himself to Lulu and said that just like her, he tried to fix everyone's problems. She said that she was probably overcompensating with Michael because the Spencers were imploding. Michael said that it was impossible to fix everyone's problems and sometimes you had to let people figure it out themselves. Lulu wondered if Dante had coached Michael, but he said no. Lulu told Michael about the intervention and said that Luke's drinking was out of control. She said that Luke hated himself because he had killed Jake. Michael said one could support a person, but that each person had to make his or her own decisions. Lulu asked Michael if he could stand aside and watch his mom or dad spiral out of control. Michael said probably not. Lulu caught up with Dante at the Port Charles Police Department after he had finished booking Suzanne. When she asked him about his trip with Sonny, Dante said it was scary because he stopped thinking of Sonny as a criminal and started thinking about him as his father. Dante said that he knew that Sonny was still dangerous, but sharing a trip with a common goal reminded him of what he liked about Sonny. 5/17 At the police station, Brenda warned Dante that she wanted to talk to him about his decision to exclude her from Alec's rescue, but first she insisted on talking to Suzanne. Dante went to see what he could do for Brenda, so Lulu decided to seize the opportunity to suggest that Brenda could show some gratitude instead of sulking because she hadn't been included in the rescue mission. Lulu reminded Brenda that Dante had risked his badge to save Brenda's son. Brenda explained that she felt that she should have been there for her son. Lulu reminded Brenda that at least Alec was alive, so Brenda should be happy that she wasn't in Elizabeth's shoes. Dante returned to escort Brenda to the interrogation room, where Suzanne was handcuffed to the table. Dante assured Brenda that the guards were outside the door and then left Brenda alone with Suzanne. Brenda immediately blasted Suzanne for lying about everything, but Suzanne showed no remorse for trying to protect Alec. Suzanne suggested that Brenda would do the same if Brenda were any kind of a mother. In the squad room, Dante was curious what Lulu and Brenda had talked about. Lulu explained that she had scolded Brenda for not being more appreciative for everyone's help instead of complaining because she hadn't been included in Alec's rescue. Dante loved when Lulu became all fired up, so he suggested that they put it to good use. Lulu smiled as Dante kissed her. 5/18 Olivia stopped by Dante's loft to drop off his laundry. She noticed that he looked tired, so Dante explained that it had been a long day. Olivia had heard about Alec's rescue. She couldn't understand what kind of family would loan out their child to someone like Suzanne. Dante explained that Suzanne had convinced the family that it was the only way to keep Alec safe. Dante confessed that it infuriated him that no one had thought about how the lies and all of the maneuvering would affect a child. Olivia wondered if Dante referred to her decision to lie about his paternity. Dante quickly clarified that he had been talking about himself and his decision to claim Brenda's child as his own. He wondered what would have happened if Alec had sought him out one day. Olivia was certain that Dante would have handled things beautifully. Dante insisted that Olivia had been the one who had handled things beautifully. He realized that he hadn't told her often enough how thankful he was for the life that she had given him. 5/24 At the Haunted Star, Luke smashed shot glasses with a baseball bat in a drunken game of baseball. Dante entered the casino and then revealed that had been a complaint of someone disturbing the peace. Luke took full responsibility, so he invited Dante to arrest him and then throw away the key. Dante refused to take Luke into custody because he believed that Luke was just crying out for help. Disgusted, Luke poured himself a drink and then resumed the "batting practice." Dante suggested that Luke had bottomed out long enough, so it was time for Luke to go to rehab. Luke insisted that he liked it "down here." Dante struck a nerve when Dante mentioned Lulu. Luke accused Lulu of being sucked into the "dad's an alcoholic" cult, so she was forbidden to talk to Luke. Dante explained that Lulu was running around town trying to fix things because she loved her father. Dante was disgusted that Luke had repaid Lulu by continuing to spiral out of control. He was curious who would be expected to clean up Luke's mess. "No one," Luke replied. Dante urged Luke to get help for Lulu's sake, but Luke ordered Dante to stay out of his business and the casino. Dante explained that Lulu had always had a mental block about relationships. According to Dante, Lulu believed that relationships never lasted because someone always left. It was obvious to Dante where Lulu gotten that idea from. At Lucky's apartment, Lulu suggested that Luke's intervention had been a disaster because it had pushed Luke further out of control. Lucky insisted that it would take time for Luke to realize that rehab was the answer, so he urged Lulu to have patience. Lulu argued that they didn't have time because Luke had been on a "bender," since they had released Luke from the chair. Lulu thought that they needed a new tactic, so she suggested reaching out to Luke. Lucky feared that they would be enabling Luke if they tried to do things Lulu's way. Lulu conceded that the twelve-step program had worked for Lucky, but she insisted that it wasn't for Luke. Lucky reminded Lulu that the twelve-step program had worked for millions of people, not just him. Lulu admitted that it seemed like Lucky expected Luke to be magically cured, but his plan wasn't working. Lucky explained that only Luke could make the decision to become sober. He assured Lulu that Luke needed time to reach the point where he was ready to accept help. Lulu confessed that she and Ethan were tired of trying to do things Lucky's way, so they wanted to try things her way. Lucky feared that Luke would drink himself to death if they didn't get out of Luke's way, so that Luke could surrender to something greater than himself. Lulu didn't agree; she wanted the family to approach Luke with love. Lucky explained that cutting off Luke was a much needed act of tough love. Lulu didn't understand Lucky's lack of optimism. Lucky assured his sister that he believed that Luke could be helped if he went to rehab. Lucky realized that Lulu had to do what she thought was right, but Lucky explained that he couldn't be a part of her plan because he had to safeguard his own sobriety. Lucky insisted that being around Luke made that too difficult. Lulu refused to abandon their father as Lucky had. Later, Lulu entered the casino to find Luke, in a sullen mood, seated at a table as he knocked back shots of alcohol. Lulu warned Luke that the damage to the Haunted Star wasn't fair to Tracy. Luke snidely assured Lulu that Tracy could afford to replace everything and then suggested that the casino could use a renovation. Luke then claimed that he had simply been trying to have some fun. Lulu fetched a dust pan and then began to sweep up the shattered glass. Luke told Lulu to leave it alone, but she ignored him. Furious, Luke charged at Lulu as he screamed, "When I say leave it, I mean it. Damn you!" Lulu was shocked by the rage in her father's tone. She slowly stood up and then gave Luke a wide berth as she quickly fled the casino in tears. Luke kicked the chair in her wake and then took another swig from a bottle of scotch. Moments later, Luke seemed to realize what he had done. His eyes filled with tears as he stared at the destruction. Tracy arrived at the loft a short time later. She immediately sensed that Lulu was upset. Lulu explained that Luke had trashed the Haunted Star, but she advised Tracy not to go near the casino because Luke needed some space. Tracy realized that something had happened, so she tried to get Lulu to talk about it. Lulu refused to tell Tracy about the incident, but she promised to clean up Luke's mess. Tracy insisted that it wasn't Lulu's responsibility, so Lulu confessed that Luke had said the same thing. Dante went to see his father at Sonny's office. Sonny was on the phone, speaking Spanish, when Dante entered the office. After Sonny ended the call, Dante wondered if Sonny had been talking to one of the Escobars. Sonny reminded Dante that he had many business associates who spoke Spanish and then changed the subject to find out why Dante was there. Dante explained that Luke was in bad shape, so Dante wondered if Sonny would talk to Luke again. Dante revealed that Lulu was trying to fix things, but nothing was working. |
