Jason & Liz #7
April 13 - August 1, 2007 - 8 hour original edit
#7A Jason
and Sonny suddenly had to dodge a barrage of bullets as shooters targeted the
Cellar. The guys fought back as upstairs, Lulu, Logan, Cooper and Maxie, laid
low. Downstairs, Jason did this cool maneuver where he slithered across the
floor under tables to get away. Sonny managed to shoot a couple of thugs, but
ended up getting shot in the head. Maxie called for help, a worried Spinelli
came to warn them. The thugs grabbed Maxie, but Logan and Coop helped save her.
Spinelli was pleased to see that Jason was alive. Jason asked Spinelli to go GH
with Sonny. He is instructed to cover if Sonny says anything that might be
incriminating while he is out of it. Spinelli asks how he can do that? Jason
tells him to do his Spinelli babble. Jason and Mac tried to get to the bottom of
the shootout. At the hospital, the doctors frantically tried to tend to the
shootout victims. When an incoherent Sonny orders a retalliation hit, Spinelli
began rapping (seriously!) for the doctors. "Do you have a head
injury?" asked Epiphany. Robin and Patrick try to get them out of there,
Spinelli taking his duty seriously, refuses to leave. They threathen to have
security remove him. Later, Spinelli bugged Robin and Patrick for information on
Sonny. Patrick wondered if the teen belonged in the psych ward.
Elizabeth went
into labor. Once in a room, Dr. Lee runs tests to see what Liz's status is. Dr.
Lee recommends begining meds to halt contractions as it is better for the baby
if she carries it to term. The meds work and labor is halted. After the crisis
is over, Lulu went to check in on Liz and filled her in on the shootout. Liz was
upset to hear about Sonny having a concussion, but was relieved that Jason was
okay. When Liz noted how much she and Lucky owe Jason, Lulu suggested she let
Jason be a part of the baby's life. That conversation ended when Lucky returned.
Spinelli arrives in Elizabeth's hospital room to videotape the birth, much to
Lucky and Elizabeth's surprise. Lucky asks who the videotape is for and
Spinellit babbles about the wedding guests. Lulu gives a bogus explanation then
she and Spinelli leave the room. Jason later shows up to check on Elizabeth. She
and Lucky have gone for a walk and Lulu talks to Jason. She volunteers to feed
him information about the baby. Liz and Lucky arrive back at the room and Jason
is relieved to learn the labor has stopped. After he leaves, Lucky comments that
it was nice of Jason to stop by to check up on Liz. After Jason leaves, Lulu
observes that Jason probably feels connected to the baby after having saved Liz
and the baby. (It seems a bit abrupt as there are no being released from the
hospital scenes, one day she is in the hospital and then she is suddenly at
home, so I didn't leave it out, never occurred).
Elizabeth runs into Jason on
the pier. Jason is concerned when he finds out how far they walked. He offers to
give them a ride home and Elizabeth accepts his offer. When they get home,
Elizabeth asks Jason if he wants to stay for awhile and have some cookies with
them and play. Jason accepts her offer to stay and sits down and plays with
Cameron. Elizabeth sees how uncomfortable it is for Jason to see her pregnant
with his child and not be a part of it. She mentions it to him. Elizabeth tells
Jason that the secret was supposed to be the best thing for everyone. Jason
agrees but says what is most important is what's best for the baby. Elizabeth
disagrees and says you matter, too. She can tell that he's no longer ok with
this decision. Jason says he was ok with it but asks if she changed her mind.
She says, "You saved my child, you saved my heart, but every time I see you
I see the sacrifice you are making for me and it only makes me love you
more." Jason is surprised. She says she knows it is crazy because they both
love other people. Jason asks why he can't be a part of the baby's life if she
loves him. Liz tells him that they would never work. Each time they try to get
together, Liz pushes away. She can't deal with the danger he is a part of every
day, and she doesn't want him to change for her or the baby. Jason tells her not
to feel guilty and leaves with both of them crying. Later, Lucky comes home and
kisses Liz on the cheek. He apologizes for not being able to pick up the big toy
and asks how she got it home? She tells him that they ran into Jason who helped.
He wants to know why they're always running into Jason. Elizabeth tells him that
she and Cameron took the Elm St. Pier home and Jason happened to be there. Lucky
tells her that it's good that Jason is always in the right place at the right
time. He tells her that maybe they should consider making Jason a godfather to
the baby.
Later, Spinelli and Jason meet up. Spinelli wants to know why they
have to bust into Lorenzo's house, especially since a baby is there. Jason tells
him he doesn't have to do it, if he doesn't want to. They share an emotional
moment, much to Jason's dismay. Spinelli tells him he doesn't have to go through
this alone and should tell Sam about the baby and leaves. Lucky tells Elizabeth
that he wants Jason to be the godfather of their child. Elizabeth questions his
reasons. Emily arrives and, after Lucky is called away, she shares her thoughts
with Elizabeth that Jason will have a permanent connection to the baby if he is
the godfather. Lucky rethinks things after a shooting at the studio and changes
his mind about asking Jason to be the baby's godfather, and tells a relieved
Elizabeth.
Jason walks Carly down the aisle on her wedding day to Jax. As the
priest talks, the citizens of Port Charles look at their loved ones during the
passionate speech. When the priest asks if anyone objects, thankfully, no one
does. Mr. Craig who is eavesdropping on Elizabeth and her conversation with a
waiter. She's talking to the waiter about her pregnancy, but goes back in after
drinking a glass of water. Jax and Carly are in the middle of giving their own
vows that they have written for each other. Jax tells Carly that she gave him
strength and loyalty. She is a wonderful mother and he is proud to be a part of
her life. He promises he will stand by her through everything and love her with
all he has. Carly then takes her turn and recites a poem. She says those words
never meant much until she met him. She feels safe with him, free to make
mistakes, and knows that when they are together anything is possible. They
exchange rings and are pronounced man and wife. They kiss, while Sonny watches,
obviously uncomfortable.
At the reception, the garter is thrown and lands on
Jason's table. Spinelli lucks out when Jason gives him the garter. Spinelli is
speechless, but Jason is relieved (by the silence and the removal of the
garter!). In the lobby, Jason approaches Liz and asks how she and the baby are
doing. She says they are doing well, and they talk about how the due date is
approaching. They depart and Jason goes to dance with Carly, even though he
doesn't want to. Carly knows she can get him to dance with her, though and he
does. She thanks him for being her best friend. Meanwhile, Liz watches the two
of them dance and rubs her belly while Sam watches her.
Liz and Lucky go to a
checkup where the doctor tells them the baby could be born any minute. When
Lucky goes to get the car, Emily stays with Liz. They joke about going into
labor while Lucky is in the garage, and Emily says it's important for the father
to be at the birth. Spinelli warns Jason not to make any plans for next Tuesday,
no shoot outs, no midnight rides. Jason questions, "Why?" Spinelli
reports that is Liz's new due date. Jason warns Spinelli to stop spying on
Elizabeth, that he has given up his rights as a father and Spinelli giving him
due dates is not helping. Jason yells at him to delete the file but Jason stops
him and asks if the ultrasound says if it is a boy or gilr? Spinelli says no but
shows him the ultrasound, the baby, the heartbeat. Jason asks him again to
delete the file and tells him no more ultrasounds. Spinelli gets ready to leave
and tells him if the baby is going to have a good life, then Jason needs to come
forward. Liz decides she needs to see Jason and calls him. Jason has been
looking at ultrasounds with Spinelli's help. Jason wants to know the sex, but
Liz doesn't know and it isn't in the hospital records. When Liz arrives, she
tells Jason that he needs to come forward if something happens to her and the
baby. Their baby could need him, especially if something like a transfusion is
necessary.
Jason comes to see Elizabeth at her request. She tells him that she
wants him to step forward as her baby's father if something serious happens to
her when she goes into labor with their baby and is left unconscious and the
baby needs help. Jason agrees to do that. Later, Lucky comes home to check on
her again. She tells him she is fine at home by herself and she isn't going
anywhere. She insists he go back to work and leave her alone so she can get some
housework done without him smothering her. He leaves her alone. Later, she falls
asleep on the couch to take a nap. She wakes up and suddenly has a contraction.
She feels something when she puts her hand toward her lower abdomen and lifts
her fingers to find that they are covered in blood. She starts to become very
concerned that she is hemorrhaging. She gets up and tries to leave the house to
go to the hospital but she collapses instead.
While Lucky is at work, Liz is at
home on the floor in agony. She tries to get the phone, but there is no service.
She finds her keys and tries to walk to the door but passes out. Jason and Sam
cross paths as he is leaving the penthouse when she gets home. She tells him
about the shoot and the injunction. She is worried the show will get between
them. They will keep business and personal life separate, though. They kiss and
part ways. Jason goes over to Liz's house and finds her passed out on the floor.
He picks her up and when she stirs, tells her they are going to the hospital.
Kelly greets them at the hospital and tells Jason that she must be operated on
immediately. Jason watches the surgery from the window. Just as the baby is
almost out, the heart rate drops. Kelly says, "We're losing him." As
Jason watches with tears in his eyes, they give oxygen to the baby and prepare
the paddles for Liz. Kelly is able to stabilize Elizabeth, and then she is
brought to a hospital room where Jason sits with her. The nurse arrives with the
baby and, upon awakening, Elizabeth sees Jason holding their son. When he
realizes she is awake, he hands the baby to her. When she says she is tired,
Jason offers to place him back in the bassinette but Lucky arrives and wants to
hold him instead. Upon hearing of the events, Lucky thanks Jason for saving
Elizabeth and the baby. After hearing from Kelly about Elizabeth and the baby,
Lulu goes to see them but sees Jason in the hall. As she talks to him about the
baby, a signal from the monitor is heard and Lucky yells that there is something
wrong with his wife.
Lucky arrives at the hospital, and walks into Elizabeth's
room to see Jason holding the baby. He spends some time with Elizabeth and the
baby before Elizabeth slips into unconsciousness. Spinelli finds Jason on the
roof, and congratulates him on his new fatherhood. Jason tells him about being
able to see the birth of his child, and Spinelli encourages him to claim the
baby as his own. Later in the nursery, Spinelli has hacked into the system to
put Jason on the list of approved visitors at the nursery. Although Epiphany
suspects that Jason's name on the approved list is due to hacking, she lets
Jason into the nursery. He tenderly holds his baby boy. He promises his son he
will give him the best life ever. Dr. Lee tells Lucky that they may have to do a
hysterectomy on Liz. Lucky tells her that they wanted to have more children, and
Kelly explains that Elizabeth has to be their priority. With Lulu looking on,
Lucky breaks down at her bedside. Jason makes it known that he will not leave
town for any reason right now. Spinelli arrives to see Jason, and Jason asks him
how Elizabeth is? Spinelli hacks into the hospital's system and finds e-mails
that say she's not doing well. Jason asks about the baby and Spinelli arranges
for Jason to watch the baby on the nursery monitor. Spinelli reminds him that
watching the monitor and being a dad are two completely different things. He
tells him that he must come forward about being the daddy is Elizabeth dies.
Jason thinks that Liz will pull through, but Spinelli reminds him that the odds
are against it. Spinelli tells Jason that he needs to tell the truth. If Liz
wakes up now, no one will be mad at her because they'll just be happy she's
alive.
Lulu runs into Jason's office. She tells Jason that he can't tell anyone
that he's the baby's father. She tells Jason that Lucky is being so strong and
will make a great dad. Spinelli stands up for Jason, though, but Jason tells him
to leave so he and Lulu can talk. Lulu tells Jason that she doesn't want Lucky
to end up hurt. Jason tells her that he doesn't want Lucky to be hurt, either,
but he has to think like a father now. Lulu is furious and says she should have
told the truth all along. Jason says that all he can focus on right now is Liz
making it, and Lulu agrees but says that she wants Lucky to be able to keep the
baby is Liz doesn't make it. Lulu tells Jason she's just trying to do the right
thing. Lucky enters the nursery and holds his as yet unnamed son. He tells the
baby that they have to wait for his mother to wake up to name him. Ric
interrupts them and is curious as to Jason and Lulu's connection. Lulu leaves
and Ric tells Jason that he visited Liz. He wants to know why Jason is always
hanging out with Lucky's wife. Ric knows that Jason is in love with Liz and
that's why he slept with her. He knows that Jason can't stand Sam anymore
because she slept with Ric. Jason tells Ric to get out. Just as Ric is about to
leave he hears Spinelli's voice talking about a "project". Jason
refuses to answer any of his questions about Elizabeth. Suddenly, Spinelli's
face comes on the laptop computer on the desk and he starts talking to Jason in
front of the security camera in the neonatal unit where Jason's new son is
sleeping to give him a report about his "progeny." Ric doesn't
actually hear what is being said but notices Jason's reaction to the computer
and how he shut the screen down to shut if off suddenly. Ric comes over to the
desk and tries to grab the computer to see what Jason is trying to hide from
him. Jason grabs the laptop out of his hands and throws it against the wall and
destroys it. Sonny walks into the office and sees the laptop sail into the air
and hit the wall with a loud crash. Sonny asks Jason and Ric what is going on?
Ric tells Sonny that Jason just threw the computer at him and tried to hit him.
Sonny ignores that accusation. Ric has the cops come into the room and asks them
to arrest Jason for attempted assault. Sonny warns Ric to back off and send the
cops away right now so he can talk to Jason and him alone.
Ric backs down and
sends the cops away. Ric tells Sonny that he came by to warn Jason to stay away
from Elizabeth at the hospital. Sonny asks Ric what business is it of his to
tell Jason to stay away from Elizabeth. Ric reminds him that Elizabeth is his
ex-wife and he is worried about her. Sonny reminds him that she is his ex-wife
and no longer his concern. He asks Jason what is going on with Elizabeth? Jason
tells him that Elizabeth had complications from giving birth to a boy and that
she hasn't regained consciousness. Sonny tells Ric to leave and not drum up any
false charges against Jason or he will call his attorney, Diane, and have her
set up a press conference that will not make him look good. Ric agrees to leave
but tells Jason to stay away from Elizabeth and reminds him she is married to
Lucky and has her own family to take care of her. After Ric leaves, Sonny asks
Jason why he didn't kill Alcazar like he asked him to? Jason tells him that he
went to check on Elizabeth during the storm because he had a bad feeling about
her and that he was right because he found her laying unconscious on the floor
at her home and there was no one else around to help her get to the hospital.
Sonny worries that Jason is too distracted right now to be able to do his job.
Jason assures him he can do his job and he will kill Alcazar when the right
opportunity presents itself.
Spinelli stops by the nursery to check up on the
baby and almost blows it when he begins to call the baby, "Little Stone
Cold". He stops himself but Lucky questions, "The little what?".
Spinelli babbles and after Lucky walks away, he enters the nursery. Epiphany
busts him and kicks him out. Lulu talks to an unconscious Elizabeth in I.C.U.
She tells her that she has no right to judge her and apologizes since she knows
how hard it is to keep this secret from Lucky. Lucky walks in and she starts to
think he heard the whole conversation but it becomes evident to her that he
didn't so she acts like she was just talking to Elizabeth about her concern for
him and how he is handling all of this stress. Later, Lucky gets upset when Dr.
Lee tells him, Lulu, and Spinelli that Elizabeth's condition has not improved
and that the baby needs to go home because staying in the hospital much longer
isn't good for him. Lucky refuses to let them release the baby from the hospital
before Elizabeth wakes up and recovers first. Dr. Lee tells Lucky that the baby
can stay a little while longer but that they don't know if and when Elizabeth
will regain consciousness or even recover. Lucky refuses to bring the baby home
because he is afraid she will wake up and be upset, thinking she lost the baby
during childbirth. Dr. Lee lets the baby stay at the hospital for now.
Spinelli
calls Jason and he comes to the hospital thinking something bad happened to
Elizabeth. Spinelli tells him the situation with the baby and how Dr. Lee feels
that it isn't good for the baby to be at the hospital much longer. Spinelli
thinks Jason should step in and claim his son as his own because Lucky has
tunnel vision right now with Elizabeth and can't do what is best for the baby
right now. Jason is torn about what to do. He talks to Epiphany about the baby
and she explains that it is important that the baby bond with his parents when
it is first born or there will be emotional repercussions if it doesn't happen.
Jason goes and sits with Elizabeth. He talks to her and tells her he doesn't
know what to do and that she told him to step in if something happened to her
and to do what is best for their son. Lucky walks in and asks what he is doing
there? Jason tells him he came by to see how she is. Jason upsets Lucky when he
brings up the fact that the baby needs to go home. Lucky tells him that what
happens with his son is none of Jason's business. Jason surprises Lucky when he
tells him it is his business and is about to tell him why. Elizabeth starts to
come out of her coma and hears them arguing. Lucky thanks Jason for saving Liz
and the baby, but tells him his part is over. Jason doesn't want to argue with
him, and just as it appears that Jason will claim the baby as his son, Liz wakes
up. She murmurs Jason's name and Lucky rushes over. She asks what happened and
Lucky fills her in. She asks if the baby is still there and Lucky tells her that
he kept the baby in the nursery against the hospital's wishes because he wanted
them to leave as a family.
Jason enters and tells Epiphany that Liz is awake.
She tells him that Lulu and Spinelli are with the baby and tells him to inform
Spinelli to stay out of the hospital's computer system. Jason goes over to Lulu
and Spinelli and tells them that Liz is awake. Lulu asks if he told Lucky the
truth and he says no. She thanks him and goes to see Liz. Jason gets a call from
Sonny and before he leaves Spinelli asks if he should keep the streaming video
going? Jason tells him it's time to get out of the computer system. Kelly comes
in and checks on Liz and says her vitals are improving. Liz is anxious to see
the baby, and Lucky promises to go get him. He tells her he is glad she didn't
leave them, and she replies that she would never leave them. Lucky brings the
baby to Liz and tells her how the baby held his hand. Liz tells him the baby
just didn't want to let go of his daddy. They talk about how happy they will be,
while Lulu watches from the doorway. They talk about the baby's name, and Liz
says she will come up with a name soon. She wants to keep the baby longer, but
Lucky goes to get Kelly. While he is gone, Jason comes in to check on her. She
thanks him for everything he has done for her and their son. He tells her she
can thank him by taking care of herself because her kids need her. She asks if
he almost told Lucky when he found out she might not make it and he says that he
prayed for her to get well. She says she knows it is breaking his heart to leave
his son, but he will be in a happy family. Sam is outside the door, listening.
Sam is devastated when she overhears Jason and Elizabeth discussing the baby and
learns Jason is the father. Jason tells Liz that he wishes there was a way to
share custody. Liz assures him that the baby will have a good life and be safe.
She asks Jason not to hate her. He tells her that he could never hate her as she
is the mother of his child. After telling Elizabeth that he needs to keep his
distance from the baby, Jason is tempted to unburden himself to Carly. Jason
picks up a drunk Sam at the hotel bar and wonders what's bothering her? She asks
if he wants to be with a tv star or the mother of his child? She catches herself
by saying that she's guilty about not being able to have a baby. He tries to get
her to leave, but she doesn't want to. Amelia tells her it isn't good for the
show for her to remain there and drink. Sam gives in and says she can't hurt the
show because it's all she has left. They go home and Sam continues to drink. She
wants to forget all the pain she has been through with past relationships, her
daughter, and any future children. She ends up passing out and Jason carries her
upstairs.
Liz reveals that she wants her son's name to be Jacob Martin, or Jake
for short. She thinks Jacob is a strong name and Martin came from her grandpa on
her mom's side. When Liz gets tired, Lucky takes the baby back to the nursery
while Amelia peers around the corner. She comes in and tells Liz she would like
to interview her about the hostage crisis, but Liz says no. Spinelli shows up to
give Jason the news about his son. The name is Jacob Martin, same initials as
Jason Morgan and same number of letters. Spinelli still doesn't think that what
Liz is doing is fair. Jason explains that Liz needs to feel safe and baby needs
to be safe. He tells Spinelli to drop it. Meanwhile, Sam is upstairs listening.
She comes downstairs and asks what happened. She comes downstairs and asks what
happened. He explained that she got drunk while celebrating the premiere. She
asks if she embarrassed him, but he says no. She says she never has to worry
when she's with him.
In a dream sequence, Sam holds baby Jake and tells Jason he
is beautiful. Liz shows up and asks for her baby back. Sam starts screaming and
wakes up. Jason asks her what is going on. He wants her to open up about her
dream, but she tells him she doesn't remember. He offers her a concoction to
take care of her hangover, but she passes on it. She starts to stand up and get
lightheaded and reconsiders the drink. Although it is green, it doesn't taste so
bad. They sit back and she comments on how nice it is for the two of them to be
alone.
Amelia shows up at the hospital and asks Liz to reconsider being on the
show. Liz wants to know why she's so interested in the baby. Lucky cuts in and
tells Amelia that Liz is just out of ICU. Amelia says she's only interested in
showing a happy family. Lucky starts to get upset and tells her that if his wife
said no, the answer is no. "What part of no don't you understand?"
Amelia leaves after wishing them well, but Liz wants to know what's up with
Lucky. He says he just feels bad about not being there for her and the baby. She
tells him that he's her hero for her and the boys. Sam shows up at the hospital
just as the baby gets back in the nursery. She asks if this is the Spencer baby
and tells the nurse that the baby looks like his father, whom she is close to.
Sam watches Elizabeth and Lucky in the hospital watch over Baby Jake. She can't
help but feel emotional about it when she sees Elizabeth holding a baby she
knows is Jason's son and that she couldn't be the one to provide him with a son.
Epiphany finds her watching them outside Elizabeth's hospital room and asks her
why she is just standing there and not going into the room to see the baby. Sam
tells her that she felt that Elizabeth and Lucky have had enough company around
and that she just wanted to see the baby from a far because she feels connected
to since she was sitting with Elizabeth during the hostage crisis trying to help
her. Epiphany encourages her to go in and see the baby. Lucky spots Sam standing
in the doorway holding a gift for the baby. He invites her in to see him.
Elizabeth tries to hide how uncomfortable she feels having Sam nearby. Sam
admires the baby and makes a comment about how blue the baby's eyes are. Lucky
tells her that the baby inherited his mother Laura's blue eyes. Sam hides her
reaction by smiling and Elizabeth hides her reaction to by smiling faintly to
his comment about Laura, both women knowing the baby's blue eyes come from
Jason.
Sam asks to hold the baby and Elizabeth reluctantly hands the baby over
to Sam to hold. Sam gets a little emotional and can't hide her tears well from
Lucky. He asks her if she is okay? Sam tells him she is fine and that she just
loves babies so much. Elizabeth feels even more uncomfortable about it knowing
what she knows. Lucky mentions that the TV producer, Amelia came by earlier and
asked Elizabeth if she would go on Sam's television show with the baby to
discuss the hostage crisis at the hotel. Sam tells them she had no idea she was
going to do that and Lucky comments that Amelia was very pushy about it but they
refused her offer.
Liz talks to her baby about how his father wants him to have
the best life possible and now he can, safe and happy, all because of Jason.
Emily overhears as she enters the room and asks what she is telling her son
about Jason? She says she was just telling him about how Jason saved their
lives. Liz is relieved to be going home that day. Emily says she understands
that things between her and Jason are complicated but hopes that Liz will alllow
Jason to spend some time with the baby after they go home. Later Ephiphany comes
into Liz's room and gives her attitude. Liz asks her if she has done something
to Ephiphany? Epiphany comments that she has been blessed with a beautiful baby.
She does not want to get involved in Liz's drama, but tells her that who she
decides to raise her baby with is her business (implying she knows the baby's
true paternity). Jason stops by Liz's room, she subtly comments to Jason that
between his schedule and her schedule that she doesn't know when he will be see
them again. She asks Jason if he would like to hold the baby? As he does, she
tells him that she gave the baby his initials. He appears happy, but has to
leave when his phone rings.
When Sonny makes Spinelli nervous, he babbles about
his bond with Jason and mentions Stone Cold's "secret pain" which
draws Sonny's curiousity though Spinelli refuses to say anything more. Sam finds
Liz and the baby at the coffee shop and tries to talk her into appearing on
"Everyday Heroes" telling Liz that she has changed her mind. Sam holds
the baby and gives him his bottle, as Liz turns her offer down. Liz makes her
excuses to leave, obviously uncomfortable with Sam holding Jake. Jason is thrown
when he enters and sees Sam with Jake and Elizabeth at the coffee house. Sonny
notices the undercurrents between them and calls Jason into his office. He asks
him about Jason's reaction to seeing Sam holding Liz's baby and says there is a
wierd energy going on and asks why? Jason excuses that he knows how hard it has
been for Sam not to be able to have a baby and Sonny seems to believe it. Liz
takes Jake home and comes back to the office to see him. She wants to explain
about what he walked in on earlier. He tells her that he wants to tell Sam that
he is Jake's father, that he needs to be honest with Sam. Elizabeth responds she
doesn't want Sam to know the truth because then she would go after Jake. She
tells him that she wishes she could reveal the truth but that she's afraid of
Jason's life. She also admits that she admires Carly and the way she has been
able to handle Sonny's life and raise their boys.
Jason defends Spinelli to
Sonny, and Sonny seems to pick up that something is bothering Jason. Once alone,
Spinelli admits to Jason that he slipped to Sonny about Jason's "secret
pain". Jason tells him to keep his mouth shut. Jason and Sam go for a walk
in the park and see Liz there with the boys. Sam wants to sit down with her, but
Liz says she needs to get the boys home for a nap. When Sam tries to hold baby
Jake, he starts to cry and Jason calms him. When Liz leaves, Sam mentions how
well the baby took to him. Jason is curious if Sam planned all this, and she
admits that she did overhear Liz in the coffee shop saying she was planning on
going to the park. Sam wants to know why Liz was uncomfortable and Jason says
it's because of Sam pressuring her into doing the show. Sam is furious that
Jason always stands up for Liz and storms off.
Sonny tries to get Spinelli to
tell him what "secret pain" Jason is in by giving him a drink to toast
Jason. When that doesn't' work, Sonny tries to intimidate Spinelli into telling
him what Jason's "secret pain" is by threatening to hurt him
physically if he doesn't talk. Spinelli tries to evade Sonny's questions with
abstract answers and talk of gods and goddesses. Sonny gets impatient with him
and orders him to spill what he knows about Jason or he is going to hurt him.
Jason walks in and sees how scared Spinelli is. Spinelli tries to act like
nothing is wrong with him and Sonny's talk but asks to be excused and Jason lets
him go home. Sonny asks Jason to tell him what is going on with him. Jason tells
him that he and Sam are having some personal problems because Sam wants to have
a baby and can't have one. Sonny doesn't push but knows that Jason is hiding
something else also.
Liz goes to the coffee house and runs into Jason. She tells
him how Jake's checkup went and he holds the baby while she goes to get her
coffee. They talk about how he's been fussy today, but as soon as the baby saw
Jason he calmed down. Lucky walks in and demands that Jason give the baby back
to Liz. When he does so, Lucky puts Jason under arrest for the murder of Lorenzo
Alcazar. Lucky shows up at the coffeehouse to arrest Jason. Elizabeth is there
and Jason is holding Jake. Lucky tells Jason to give Jake to Elizabeth and then
he asks Elizabeth to leave. She tries to talk Lucky out of arresting Jason,
asking for him to allow Jason to turn himself in. Lucky insists he cannot do
that and takes Jason down to the station. Once there, Ric tells Jason he has
strong evidence against him, proving that he killed Alcazar. As Lucky leaves the
holding room, he drops something. Lucky returns home to a very angry Elizabeth.
She doesn't understand why he had to be the one to arrest Jason, after
everything he has done for them. Jason is seen in the holding room and Coop
offers Jason a chance to make his phone call. As he prepares to leave the room,
Jason picks up what Lucky had dropped earlier. It is a picture of Elizabeth and
Jake.
Elizabeth accuses Lucky of wanting to arrest Jason in front of her and the
baby. Lucky justifies his actions, but Elizabeth is not impressed. She tells him
that Jason may hold Jake whenever he wants, and Lucky tells her that unless she
plans to attend visiting day at Pentonville prison, there's a good chance Jason
may never hold their son again. Elizabeth shows up at jail to see Jason while
Spinelli is there. The uniformed cop on guard informs Jason that he can only
have one visitor at a time. Spinelli leaves when he sees Elizabeth waiting to
see Jason. Jason asks her why she came to see him? She tells him that she is
sorry he got arrested and she wanted to make sure he was okay. They talk about
their son. Jason tells her that it is probably better this way since he wouldn't
want what is happening to him touch Jake's life like this and he is happy he
made the decision to let Lucky be the father to his son. Lucky returns to his
desk and the uniformed cop tells him that Elizabeth just showed up to see Jason.
Lucky comes into the visitor's room to ask Elizabeth what she is doing there?
She tells him she came to see if he was allright. Lucky isn't pleased to see her
there and tells her to go home. Jason thanks her for coming. Elizabeth gets
angry with Lucky and tells him off after they leave the room together. Lucky
runs off after her. He catches up to her and confronts her about why she went to
see Jason when she told him she couldn't come to the hearing with him because
she had to watch their sons. Elizabeth tells him that her grandmother got off
work early and offered to watch them so she could go see how Jason was. She
tells Lucky that she expected him to at least understand that and feel some
sympathy for what Jason is going through after all that he has for them. Lucky
tells her that he would have liked it if she had been with him at the hearing
instead since Scott won guardianship and he could have used her support then.
Lucky storms off.
Upon Jason's request, Amelia meets him in the interrogation
room with the files she has on Sam. She tells him about her father and his death
at the hands of Sam. Jason is sorry for her loss, but does not see how this
affects him. She reveals her plans of revenge to Jason, who tells her he cannot
let her hurt Sam. Amelia tells Jason he is just like all of her other victims.
She reveals to him that Sam knows the paternity of Jason's baby. Amelia finishes
filling Jason in on Sam's past. He refuses to believe Sam is who Amelia says she
is. She tells him that Sam wants to have his baby via a surrogate mother. He
tells her he would never agree to that, but she retaliates by saying he doesn't
have to agree. He tells her that when he talks to Sam, Amelia will lose Sam and
Everyday Heroes. Amelia isn't sure that he will actually confess to Sam what he
knows, but she says that shows will come and go. She thinks she did right by her
dad, though, and maybe this will cause Jason to do right by his son.
Ric comes
into the visitor's room and waits for Jason to arrive so he can talk to him.
Jason refuses to talk to Ric without his attorney present. Ric tells him that he
has hard evidence against him and suggests that something about that night must
have rattled Jason enough to make a mistake when he killed Alcazar. Jason
refuses to respond to him. Elizabeth shows up to visit Jason. Ric suggests that
Jason do her a favor and make her go away. After Ric leaves, Liz suggests that
with Ric's bias against him that she doesn't thinks he will get a fair trial
with Ric as the DA. Liz tells him she has so much to be grateful for because of
Jason. He asks about the baby and she raves about what a miracle he is. She
tells him that she wishes that her boys could know him, that he would be
acquitted and that somehow their lives could intertwine as he deserves to be
part of Jakes life, and Jake deserves to be able to know him. Later, when Lucky
comes into the office, Ric tells him that it doesn't look good for their case
against Jason when his wife comes to visit him all the time. Lucky comes into
the visitor's room and asks Jason why Elizabeth came to see him? Jason tells him
he doesn't know why she came. Lucky tells Jason to stop letting her come see
him. Diane, Jason's lawyer comes in and asks Lucky what he is doing talking to
her client without her presence. Lucky tells her it is personal, not police
business. Diane tells Lucky to leave and that it would be interesting in court
if Lucky explains to a judge what personal matters he has with the man he
arrested for murder. Lucky storms out and heads to the hospital to see
Elizabeth, who returns for her first day back to work after her maternity leave.
Lucky confronts her about visiting Jason again after they had already had a big
argument about it before. Elizabeth tells him she wanted to see if he was
allright and she was afraid to tell Lucky because she knew it would bother him.
Later, Sonny shows up to see Jason while Diane is there. Diane isn't too pleased
by all the visitors who have come to see Jason. Sonny asks Diane to leave so he
can talk to Jason alone. Diane isn't pleased since they don't seem to be worried
about Jason's defense when they should be. Jason finally decides to tell Sonny
about being the father of Elizabeth's baby and how Sam knows the truth but is
acting like she doesn't know. Sonny doesn't agree with Jason's decision to stay
out of his son's life because Elizabeth asked him to. He feels that Jason can
protect his son just fine and should claim him as his own. Jason points out that
he is in jail now and can't protect his son and could be a danger to him right
now. Sonny asks Jason if Amelia told him about Sam's past? Jason tells him that
he heard what she said but feels that it doesn't matter.
Sonny tries to convince
Jason that it's in his and his son's best interest to take a part in the child's
life. Jason tries to convince him that it's better off for Jake to be brought up
in a home without violence. Sonny realizes the only reason Jason is allowing
this to go on is because Liz asked him to. Sonny asks what Sam thinks about all
this. He doesn't think Sam is the person Jason thinks she is. After Sonny
leaves, Diane comes in and tells Jason that he may not have to stay in jail for
another night. She ends up being wrong, though, and the mayor denies her request
for bail. Amelia visits Jason next and asks him if she should spend the money
for the big upcoming shoot or if he intends on telling Sam about Amelia's
motives and that Sam will have a meltdown and probably lose the show. Amelia
surmises that Sam won't say anything about Jake's paternity as she isn't going
to want to risk the truth coming out and possibly losing Jason to Liz. Jason
says it was his choice to give up the baby. Amelia asks if he can live with that
choice. He informs her that she can go ahead with the shoot as he doesn't see
anything changing in the near future (meaning he isn't going to tell her about
Amelia, confront her about her past or that she knows about Jake).
Liz tells
Lucky about how blessed she is, how she could have lost Jake and her life would
be so empty without him. She explains to Lucky that she went to see Jason
because he had so much to do with him being alive. She is sorry that she knows
it compromises Lucky's position when she goes to visit Jason but she had to do
something for him. She reminds him again that Jake is alive because of Jason!
She begins to cry at the thought that she is going to the park with her boys and
enjoy the day as Jason is locked up, she tells him again how much Jason has
given her and she is obviously torn up at the thought that he will never be able
to go to the park and enjoy a day with his own children. She brushes it off as
hormones and being emotional and they kiss before Lucky leaves. Spinelli and
Lulu come across Liz and her boys in the park. Liz encourages Spinelli to hold
her baby. He does so nervously and Sam then comes upon them and comments, Jason
should see him now. Sam comments on how much love the baby receives from
everyone and that she has never seen anything like it. Liz responds how calm the
baby is and asks who does she think the baby got that quality from? Sam takes
off and Liz asks if Sam wants to have a baby? He says yes that she does but that
Jason is opposed but he thinks Jason would make an awesome dad. Lulu stops him
and makes their excuses to leave.
As Sam watches through the bushes, Liz puts
Jake in his stroller so she can help Cameron with his laces only to turn around
and find an empty stroller, Jake is gone. Park security questions Elizabeth and
notify the authorities. Elizabeth calls Lucky and tells her the shocking news.
Lulu takes Cameron to Audrey's and tells Elizabeth she will call Nikolas, Emily
and Bobbie. Spinelli goes to the police station and tries to get Coop to tell
Jason about the kidnapping. He insists that Jason would want to know. Lucky and
Elizabeth show up and Lucky questions Spinelli as to why he is there? Spinelli
just says that he thought Jason would possibly have resources that could help
them. Lainey comes in the station to question Elizabeth. After Elizabeth is
brought into a separate room, Lainey tells Lucky that it isn't uncommon for a
mother suffering from postpartum depression to do something with your child.
Jason sees Liz in the interrogation room, and she explains to him how Jake
disappeared. He holds her in his arms and promises to get their son back. She
mentions the fact that she did see Sam shortly before the disappearance. She
wonders if the kidnapping has something to do with someone who found out Jake's
true paternity, but for the moment they agree to keep quiet about it. Mac and
Lainey walk in to question Liz about having possibly having post-partum
depression. Jason backs Elizabeth and doesn't question her invovlement. He says
there is no reason she should have to talk to a shrink. She gets upset at the
idea that they think she could have hurt her baby and screams at them that she
has not hurt her son, that he has been kidanpped! Lucky walks in and appears to
back Mac and Lainey. A disgusted Jason yells at Lucky if he can't support Liz
then he should get out. He asks Lucky what he is doing? A desperate Liz begs
them to go look for her baby that she wasn't responsible for his disapperance.
Mac provides the assurance that since she was the last person to see Jake that
they have to rule her out as a suspect. Mac speculates that given the kidnapping
happened so quickly that he suspects that Liz was followed in the park and that
the kidnapper was probably someone they know, someone who waited for the
opportunity to take the baby.
Dvd #7B Back at home, Lucky and Liz argue about
Jake's whereabouts. Lucky wonders if he is still alive? Liz stops him, not able
to listen to him mention even the possibility of her baby not being alive. Lucky
is angry and yells at Liz for having left the baby alone and says he would never
have done so. At Kelly's, Lucky tells Spinelli and Lulu about the possibility
that Liz had post-partum depression. He asks them if Liz seemed emotional in
recent weeks, and he acknowledges that Lainey is involved with the case. Lulu
thinks Liz is just tired, and Spinelli chalks it up to hormones. Lucky walks in
with a stuffed animal and sees Liz holding Jake's blanket. He apologizes for
last night and tells her he doesn't blame her. She doesn't believe him. He tells
her that he's just scared. She says that she was scared, too. All she wanted was
for him to hold her and tell her it was going to be alright. She tells him he
doesn't know her at all. They continue to fight until Emily tells them to stop.
Fighting won't find Jake. She starts talking about Spencer until Lucky
interrupts her yelling, "Spencer isn't your son." Liz tells Lucky not
to yell at Emily. Lucky decides to leave and go to the station.
Emily tells Liz
that she and Lucky need to support each other right now. Liz tells her she's
hanging on to everything she has to find her son. She tried to sleep last night
and thought if she closed her eyes she would wake up and Jake would be back and
everything would have just been a nightmare. She's furious that the cops
think/thought she could do something to her child. She knows it's just their
job, but how could Lucky go along with that theory, too. She thought he would
support her more. Jason did help her, though. He calmed her down. He was the
only one who believed her. For a minute when she was with Jason, she believed
she would get Jake back. Emily tells her she will get the baby back. Liz says
that Lucky accused her of letting Jake get kidnapped because she didn't love him
enough. Emily asks if she's talking about Lucky or Jake. Emily tells her that
Jason is in a different spot than Lucky right now. It's easier for Jason to deal
with this, since Jake isn't his child. Lucky is looking for anyone to blame. She
says that at least he hasn't turned to pills again. Liz says it's a good thing,
too, because she can't take care of him now. She has to focus on her little boy.
They both leave.
Lucky upsets Elizabeth when he asks her to come by the police
station and talk to Lainey again about what happened at the park in case she
remembered more about the disappearance. Elizabeth tells him that she told
Lainey and the police everything she remembered and insists she had nothing to
do with Jake's disappearance. Lucky snarks that is that what really happened or
just what Jason told her to say? Lulu tells Lucky to leave Elizabeth alone after
she hears them fighting. She tells Lucky that it isn't Elizabeth's fault that
Jake was kidnapped and that he should be more supportive of her. Lulu leaves
them alone. Lucky tells her that she has to follow procedure or it will be bad
for her. She tells him she is sick and tired of being treated like a suspect and
she doesn't even know him right now. Lucky points out that he has found her
crying for no reason at times. Elizabeth can't believe that he would actually
think her capable of hurting her baby? She asks him to consider how he would
feel if something had happened to one of their children on his watch and she
blamed him? She goes over it again in her head, what exactly happened and why
she didn't hear anything, why didn't he cry? Lucky realizes that he has been too
hard on Elizabeth. He tells her that he is just worried about Jake and doesn't
know what else to do right now but find out everything he can. He grabs
Elizabeth and hugs her to show his support.
Spinelli tells Jason that he's
trying to find out if any of the cameras at the park have any images of Jake
being taken. Jason tells him to let Stan handle that. He wants Spinelli to keep
an eye on Sam. At first, Spinelli thinks Jason just wants him to help Sam deal
with Jason being gone. No, Jason tells him he wants him to find out if she knows
anything about Jake. Spinelli is stunned that Jason thinks Sam might have
something to do with his son's disappearance. Jason explains that Sam knows he
is the father of Jake but she hasn't come clean with him. He tells Spinelli what
happened when Sam's baby was stillborn. Spinelli then tells Jason about the
package of baby clothes that arrived last night to the penthouse. Sam was gone
this morning with the clothes and the box they arrived in. Spinelli tells him
maybe it was a gift or maybe she's holding out for her own baby. Jason doesn't
like to suspect Sam, but he has to follow the leads to find his son. Spinelli
leaves when Diane comes in. Jason wants her to continue working on getting him
out. He says to tell the judge it's a family emergency. Diane is intrigued.
Lucky enters and asks if he wants to leave so he can go look for Jake. Diane
interrupts and says that Jason had nothing to do with the kidnapping. Lucky
tells Jason that Liz had every right to be questioned. Lucky wants Jason to stay
away from his family. After Lucky leaves, Diane warns Jason that the longer he
sits in silence, the better chance Ric will get information to put him away for
life. Spinelli arrives at the police station and tells Jason that he got footage
of the smoothie stand and Sam was never there. Spinelli thinks that maybe she
just changed her mind, but Jason thinks she lied about getting a smoothie. He
asks Spinelli if they could see the smoothie stand from where they were standing
and he says no. Jason wonders if Sam could have circled around and spied on them
without anyone noticing. Spinelli admits that it could have happened.
Sam shows
up at Elizabeth's house to see her. She has a hard time walking straight because
she is drunk still. She asks Elizabeth if they have any new leads on Jake.
Elizabeth tells her they don't. She is writing a list of what happened at the
park and tells Sam that. Sam acts very concerned at first but then totally
upsets Elizabeth when she goes on and on about losing her own baby girl at birth
and how she feels for her. Elizabeth snaps at Sam that her baby isn't dead. Sam
tells her that they are the same now because they both lost their babies but Sam
points out that Elizabeth already has a son and could have more children with
Lucky if she wants to. Elizabeth is stunned by Sam's words and throws her out of
her house. Sam goes to the police station to find Lucky. He asks her if she is
there to see Jason. Sam grabs Lucky and insists she needs to talk to him alone.
He brings her into the visitor's room to let her talk. He asks her if this has
to do with his son. Sam shakes her head and says something cryptic like
"he's not" but doesn't say anything else.
Drunken Sam tells Lucky that
he shouldn't have to go through this not knowing. He asks if she has information
about his son. Jason walks in. Lucky asks Sam what she's trying to tell him. She
covers by saying she knows what it's like to lose a child. Another officer comes
in and tells Lucky that they may have a lead, and they both leave. Jason
confronts Sam about her drinking. She says she started thinking about how bad
Jake's parents must feel and it brought back memories. She wanted to come here
to tell Jake's father how sorry she is/was. She apologizes to Jason for not
coming to see him more. He tells her he won't be there much longer. She talks
about how terrible it must be for Jake's parents. Jason says hopefully the
kidnapper will realize what he/she did was wrong and do the right thing. Sam
tells Jason she loves him and leaves. Liz watches from outside as Sam leaves.
She goes into the interrogation room to talk to Jason. She tells him she hopes
he doesn't mind, and he says he doesn't. She keeps going over what happened in
the park, but she can't come up with anything that would help find Jake.
"What if Jake...", she says.
Jason stops her and says don't go there.
He needs her to be strong for him and their son. He holds her hands, while Lucky
watches from the window. Lucky comes in and says he didn't realize she was
there. He's been trying to get a hold of her. They leave the interrogation room
and Lucky gets a phone call. He sounds happy as he talks to a daycare and gives
a description of Jake. While Liz and Lucky hug, another officer fills Jason in
on what's going on. A social worker walks in with a baby and Liz runs over only
to discover it's not Jake. Spinelli goes to visit Jason at the police station.
He asks him if he can still get him out of jail. Spinelli says yes. Jason says
he wants out of there tonight. He needs to find his son. Jason asks Spinelli to
help him escape to which Spinelli refuses. He tells Jason that he believes Sam
didn't take Jake.
Back home, Lucky tells her he was hoping the baby was Jake.
She tells him he's doing the best that he can. He asks her why she keeps going
to see Jason. Does she think he could find Jake if he were out of jail faster
than the job Lucky's doing now? She tells him she doesn't give a damn who
rescues Jake, she just wants her baby back! He tells her it isn't fair for her
to suggest that she doesn't want her baby back. She says it certainly wasn't
fair for him to practially accuse her of hurting her son. She says she is too
sick and tired to muster up any energy to deal with his inferiority complex. She
says she doesn't know if Jason could find her son but she wishes to god that he
was out there looking for him! Elizabeth tells him that the reason she goes to
see Jason is because he gives her hope and doesn't blame her for Jake being
kidnapped the way Lucky does and he certainly wouldn't get caught up in some
stupid macho competition over who finds her son! Liz retorts that Jason doesn't
attack her, he doesn't suspect her, and that she didn't do anything wrong by
tying her other son's shoe. He yells that Jason can't possibly understand as he
didn't lose his son. She questions, "Then why has he shown me more empathy
than you, why does he show more sympathy than you? If he can't understand how
terrified I am then why is it that Jason makes me feel that my son is alive and
I will hold my son in my arms again?" He reminds her that her hero is in
jail and Lucky is the only person she has to count on, then he sadly observes
that she doesn't have any faith in him anymore. She leaves abruptly to go see if
there is any new information.
Liz heads to see Jason and tells him about the
fight she had with Lucky. She tells him about the competition Lucky feels
towards Jason and it is making her crazy, that seems more important to him than
finding their baby. She says that the family she has built on lies, the family
she tried to create, none of this works without Jake. Jason takes her in his
arms and comforts her. She apologizes for dumping this on him. He tells her not
to apologize, that he has been bouncing off the walls being stuck in jail and
not being able to look for Jake, that when he sees her that he feels the ground
beneath his feet again. She assures him that a lot of people are out there
looking for Jake and someone is bound to find him. She promises to stay positive
and not let fear overtake her. Later, Elizabeth dreams that Jason brings baby
Jake back to her and tells her that he loves her.
Sam comes clean and tells
Jason that she knows he is Jake's father. Confronted by Sam, Jason admits he is
Jake's father. She recalls how she found out about the paternity and wonders how
he could keep quiet about it for all these months. Jason justifies his actions,
but they continue to argue. She questions why he didn't consider joint custody.
Later, she tells Jason about her history of swindling men and the accident where
she killed Bill Monroe. She goes on to speculate that Amelia could be behind the
kidnapping in order to frame Sam. Sam is livid when Jason asks her if she had
anything to do with the kidnapping. Jason is convinced that either Sam or Amelia
is connected to Jake's kidnapping. Diane gives Jason the surprising news that
he's been granted bail.
Jason is released on bail and goes home to find Spinelli
there. Spinelli is pleased to see him home. Jason tells him to keep having
Amelia and Sam followed. Spinelli makes a case for why Amelia would have
benefitted from kidnapping the baby, to get back at Sam and set her up. Jason
finds that plausible but can't rule out the idea that Sam kidnapped the baby
also. He tells Spinelli that he has to be objective about this whole thing and
suspect everyone including Sam. He tells Spinelli that he has known Sam for
three years and he can tell she is hiding something else from him. At the
studio, Sam stuns Lucky, Elizabeth and Amelia when she adamantly refuses to
allow Lucky and Elizabeth to make a televised appeal for Jake's return on
Everyday Heroes. Jason grows more suspicious when Elizabeth informs him of Sam's
strange behavior about refusing to allow Liz to make a plea for her baby's safe
return. Jason seeks out Amelia, who tells about her suspicions that Maureen
might have taken Jake. At home, Sam has a flashback of watching Maureen take
Jake.
Jason and Amelia head to Maureen's house, believing that she has Jake.
Once they arrive there, they question Maureen and she tells them that the baby
is upstairs. While Amelia goes to get him, Maureen tells Jason about losing her
daughter in the fire. Jason reassures her that she did the best she could. She
tells Jason she took very good care of the baby, and gives him the hat with
Jake's name on it. Amelia comes downstairs holding Jake and gives him to Jason.
Maureen asks if Sam told them where Jake was and Jason is surprised. Maureen
informs them both that Sam watched her take Jake. On the way home, Amelia asks
Jason if he will be able to forgive Sam. Jason doesn't respond. When they arrive
in Port Charles, Amelia visits Sam to tell her that Jake has been found. Jason
brings Jake to Elizabeth. While she reunites with Jake, Jason holds Cameron as
Lucky enters and watches from the doorway. After Cameron is taken upstairs,
Jason fills Lucky and Liz in on how he discovered that Maureen took Jake. Amelia
was crucial in the discovery as she kept calling Maureen to sign the release for
the episode she did for Everyday Heroes. When Amelia heard a baby crying in the
background, she thought it was suspicious. She and Jason drove to Maureen's
house and discovered Jake. Instead of calling the police, they left her with a
psychologist and a home health nurse. Lucky is furious that they didn't turn her
into police. He calls the station and tells them that his son is home. He tells
them to subpoena Amelia for information on Maureen. Then he tells them to send a
squad car over to arrest Jason for violating the terms of his parole.
Jason
arrives at the PCPD and is taken into custody for violating probation. Liz is
furious with Lucky for arresting Jason and accuses him of acting out of spite.
He is so jealous over Jason that he thinks perhaps Jason kidnapped him to make
himself look good when he "found" Jake. She can't believe that he is
so jealous that he can't even be grateful for two seconds that Jake is home! Liz
ends up telling Lucky that Jason found her son when Lucky couldn't. After Lucky
storms out, Liz feeds Jake and tells him that no matter how mad she is at Lucky
she will forgive him. Jason gave up everything so that she could give Jake a
family with Lucky and Cameron. She won't let him down. Sam knocks on the door
and congratulates Liz for her reunion with her son. She asks where Jason is. Liz
is surprised she doesn't already know and fills Sam in.
Sonny visits Jason after
Diane leaves. There isn't much Diane or Sonny can do. Jason is going to prison.
Jason asks Sonny to keep his secret about Jake. While Sonny doesn't agree with
Jason keeping his paternity a secret, he does agree to keep the secret. He also
promises to take care of Liz and Jake. Carly also comes to visit. Jason tells
her there's nothing she can do to save him now. He asks her to try and keep the
peace between her and Sonny. They hug and tell each other they love each other.
Jason is taken away before Sam can get there. Carly tells her that Jason has
been sent to Pentonville and there is no telling when anyone will ever see Jason
again. Amelia apologizes to Liz about Maureen kidnapping Jake. Liz is thankful
that Amelia heard him crying and acted on her instincts. Amelia praises Jason's
determination to save Jake. Liz says she doesn't blame Maureen and understands
that she is grief-stricken over the loss of her own child. She's just grateful
Jake is home and allright.
At home, Liz talks to Jake about how much she and his
daddy love him. She tells him his daddy would give him anything in the world and
that's why he gave him up. She explains to her infant son that she promised to
protect him and keep him safe. There's a knock at the door. It's Sam. She wants
to talk to Liz about Jason and Jake. She asks Liz is Lucky has said anything
about Jason. Liz says that Jason is a sore subject for her and Lucky. Sam starts
lecturing Liz about how she and Lucky have no gratitude for Jason saving their
son. Liz suggests Sam talk to Lucky herself. As Sam continues to rant and rave
to Liz, her phone rings. It's Sonny. He wants to see her immediately. When she
gets to Sonny's, she asks if this is about Jason. He says yes. He is Jake's
father, but she already knew that. She admits that she knew that, but was still
stunned when she found out for sure. He thinks it's strange that the woman who
kidnapped Jake was a guest on Sam's show who grabbed Jake only 2 hours after the
interview. Sam says Maureen's kidnapping was grief-driven and just an impulse.
She explains that she was angry Jason kept the baby a secret because she wanted
him to trust her. She knows what it's like to have a baby, though. She didn't
want anything to happen to Jake. Sonny asks her if she suspected Maureen in the
kidnapping. Sam back peddles and says she was shocked when Jake turned up
missing. Sonny tells her she just confirmed what he already knew. Sam is a liar.
She watched someone kidnap Jason's son and did nothing.
Carly arrives at Liz's
to discuss Jason's predicament. Elizabeth nearly slips with revealing the truth
about Jake but quickly realizes that Carly doesn't know. Carly tells Elizabeth
she is in no position to throw stones where her and Jason's relationship is
concerned. Elizabeth tells Carly she will not help her with Ric. Just then,
Lucky comes home and Carly yells at him for arresting Jason but Elizabeth comes
to his defense. After Carly leaves, Lucky questions Elizabeth, wondering if she
really meant what she said. Using Jason's marriage certificate to Brenda, Carly
pays a visit to Jason at Pentonville pretending to be his wife. Jason is less
than pleased, especially when Carly starts to trash Sam. Jason defends Sam and
asks Carly to keep away from her. Jason is allowed one phone call from
Pentonville. He calls Sonny and asks him to keep Carly away from Jerry. Jason
looks longingly at the picture of Elizabeth and Jake, and remembers holding him
at the hospital.
Still angry over Lainey over her suspicions of Liz's
involvement in the kidnapping, Liz is short with her when she returns to work at
the hospital. Lainey tries to explain her position to Liz, who seems unmoved.
Lainey also gets the sense that Liz has some resentment towards Lucky. With
Patrick and Liz looking on, Robin criticizes Lucky for arresting Jason after he
saved his son. Lucky doesn't want to give him any credit and gives all of the
kudos to Amelia. Lucky defends his position, but Robin doesn't want to hear it.
She points out that Lucky could have left this situaton up to her Uncle Mac to
decide and he may have chosen to look the other way, but no he had to force the
issue and now Jason is in jail. Robin says she thought she knew Lucky better
than that and remind her not to do him any favors. After she leaves, Lucky is
mad at Liz for not defending him.
Elizabeth shows up to see Jason, disguised as
a detective. She tells him she had to see him. Jason is upset. He warns her how
much trouble she could get in. She reminds him that he didn't think about the
consequences when he jumped bail to save their son. She thanks him again for
saving Jake. She doesn't think she has thanked him enough. Jason tells her Jake
is the only thing that matters. Liz tells him it's not fair that he's being
punished, but Jason says he has no regrets. Liz reaches over and holds Jason's
hands. Jason doesn't want her to take risks to see him anymore. She says that
someone once told her it's her choice and she'll be the one who has to deal with
the consequences. Jason says it's unfair for her to use his reasoning's against
him. Liz asks how Carly got in to see him and he tells her how she pretended to
be his wife. Liz says that was her second option. She thinks Carly told him
about how she defended Lucky's actions to her, but Jason says Carly said nothing
about the fight. Jason says he's not in jail because of Lucky. He's in jail
because of suspected murder. Liz says she wants assurance he'd never kill a man,
but she knows better than to ask. She tells him to be careful, and he tells her
not to take chances again. If Jake is okay, there's no reason to come see him.
When Liz gets home, Lucky tells her that Pentonville called. Liz tries to
explain that she just wanted Jason to know that Jake was allright. Lucky asks
Elizabeth if she is in love with Jason and she says no. She apologizes for using
his badge, but says that after everything that has happened, she couldn't tell
him she was going to see Jason. While they are having another fight, Cameron
walks in and they put their differences aside to tend to him.
Diane comes to see
Jason and asks about the "detective". Jason tells her it was Liz.
Diane tells him about the evidence Ric has against him. She says she needs him
to concentrate. She's going to argue that he was set up on court. Diane says
that he's preoccupied with Liz and his secret child. It's obvious that he loves
his son and Liz and Liz didn't show up at Pentonville just to tell him that Jake
has graduated from cereal to strained peas. She tells Jason to tell Liz he loves
her and be done with it. Then he can concentrate on his trial and getting free.
Elizabeth and Epiphany talk and Elizabeth mentions that she saw Jason on her day
off. She wishes she could see him more. Lucky comes to see Liz and asks her if
she wants to go with him and the kids to the park. She is hesitant. There are
too many bad memories from when Jake was kidnapped. He says he wants to help her
through it as a family. She agrees to go, but after Lucky leaves she confesses
to Epiphany that she doesn't want to go. Epiphany tells her she shouldn't have
agreed to go if she didn't want to. They talk about Liz taking another trip to
see Jason. She says Lucky doesn't understand why she went to see him. She tells
Epiphany that Lucky asked her if she loves Jason. She tells Epiphany her
response and how she's committed to their marriage. Epiphany asks Liz who she's
trying to convince. When Liz, Lucky and the boys get to the park, Liz has
flashbacks and tells Lucky she can't stay there. He tells her not to shut down
and to tell her what she's feeling. He tells her she's a wonderful mom and he
was wrong to accuse her of anything. She still wants to go home. Lucky reminds
her that Jake is healthy and safe. Jake needs her and so does Cameron. Lucky
takes Cameron over to the swings, while Liz stays with Jake. She tells him
everything will work out just fine. Amelia approaches her and startles her. Liz
thanks her for her part in finding her son. Amelia says Jason was the only who
really brought Jake home. She says it's clear that Jason cares a lot for Liz and
Jake. Liz agrees that Jason is a great friend. Amelia comments that Sam and
Jason are over. Lucky walks over and asks what they are talking about? She tells
them that she believes it is over between Sam and Jason and that she feels bad
for Jason because he is locked up in prison on murder charges after he found the
baby and now he has lost Sam for good probably. Lucky gets defensive about
Jason's prison stay and asks Amelia why she cares what happens to Jason now that
Sam would be free to work on "Everyday Heroes" and not be connected to
Jason anymore. Amelia tells Lucky that she is able to separate her personal
opinions from her professional work. Lucky reminds her that Jason is in prison
on murder charges. Amelia leaves them alone.
At Pentonville, Sam tells Jason
that he doesn't look happy to see her. He says he didn't think he was allowed
visitors. She confesses that Spinelli helped get her in. She admits that she saw
Maureen take baby Jake. He doesn't react, so she tells him he should be yelling
at her. He appears unfazed and says, "You did what you did." She asks
him if he wants to know why she didn't do anything? He thinks he knows, that she
was trying to punish him. She admits that she was hurt when he lied to her for
months. It all started when she was in the hospital and he broke up with her. He
admits he was wrong about that and tried to fix it. She says he gave up on them.
She kept trying, but her perception of reality became so twisted and distorted
that she couldn't tell right from wrong. She asks him to say something. He yells
at her and asks what she wants him to say. She sat there and watched his son get
kidnapped. He admits that he hurt her, but he wanted to protect Liz and Jake.
Sam says it's always all about Liz. She must have had this all planned. Jason
has been emotionally unfaithful for months. He tells her it doesn't matter that
the past can't be changed. Sam says she's going to make damn sure it doesn't
happen again. She was wrong to let Maureen take Jake, but she was trapped. She
was sick of all the lies she was forced to endure. She had to hit rock bottom
and she's tired of trying. He can't love her, support her, or believe in her. He
doesn't put her first. She can't accept any less than that. She questions if he
ever even loved her as everyone else is put first, Sonny, Carly, the kids, and
now his own son. She's releasing him of any burden to her. She tells him they
are over. It's funny that she's breaking up with him while he's in prison. It
makes her look like the user everyone thinks she is. She's going to tell Lucky
about Jake's paternity, too. He says that's not for her to do. If she does, he
will turn her in for being an accessory to kidnapping.
Sam tells Jason that she
plans to tell Lucky that he isn't the father of Elizabeth's baby so that
Elizabeth can't keep lying to him and Jason will have a chance to raise his son
like he should. Jason gets very quiet and angrily threatens to turn Sam in as an
accomplice in the kidnapping of his son if she tells Lucky anything. Sam can't
believe Jason would blackmail her to protect Elizabeth when Elizabeth made him
give up his son to protect her secret and her cozy life with Lucky. Jason tries
to explain that his son will not be safe if it was made public that he was
Jake's father and he can't put his son at risk. Sam explains that she froze when
she saw Jake being kidnapped and was afraid to tell him what happened. Jason
doesn't really believe her. Sam realizes that it is over between them. She tells
him he is a sucker for believing that Elizabeth can do no wrong and that
Elizabeth is trying to protect herself from the truth coming out and ruining her
marriage and having everyone find out she slept with Jason. Sam looks at Jason
and tells him that she can't believe she ever loved him.
Sam shows up at the
park and finds Elizabeth and Lucky with the children. She doesn't pretend to act
nice in front of them and tells them that she broke up with Jason and that now
it is only a matter of time before Lucky finds out how much of a liar his wife
is. Lucky asks her what she is talking about? Sam doesn't tell Lucky the truth
about Jake but accuses Elizabeth of being in love with Jason and visiting him in
prison any chance she gets. Elizabeth tries to cut Sam some slack because she
and Jason just broke up and she is bitter and tries to tell Sam that she isn't
in love with Jason and that they are just friends. Sam doesn't believe her and
walks off. Lucky says something cryptic and walks off somewhere. He returns
shortly afterwards and finds that Elizabeth is ready to leave the park right
now. He surprises her when he tells her he has made arrangements for her to
visit Jason in prison if she wants to and tells her that he saw how bitter and
insecure Sam was and doesn't want to be that way. Elizabeth tells him she loves
him and that what Sam said wasn't true about her being in love with Jason. Lucky
believes her and they kiss.
Sonny goes to Pentonville to visit Jason. Jason
wants to know if he's been watching out for Jake. Sonny tells him about Sam
confronting the Spencer's at the park. Jason tells him about the break up and
he's worried that Sam will tell Lucky that he's not Jake's father. Sonny thinks
that may not be a bad idea. Jason doesn't want to talk about that issue right
now. Sonny tells him that Diane is working on a transfer for him. Jason tells
him he doesn't regret working for him, but he's definitely paying the price now.
Not for being in jail, but the price is not being able to have his son.
Lulu
runs into Kelly's and finds Liz making arrangements to see Jason at Pentonville.
Liz cancels her appointment and abruptly gets off the phone. Lulu tells her she
should go see Jason. Liz is confused. Lulu tells Liz that Jason is probably
lonely and needs friends. She knows Liz is friends with him, and especially
since Jason saved Jake. Liz says she has to think about Lucky, too, though. Liz
finally gets to Pentonville and tells Jason that Lucky arranged their visit. She
explains that she wants to visit him because of everything he's done for her and
Jake, unless he doesn't want her to visit. No, he says he does want her to
visit. She pulls out pictures of Jake to give to Jason. They look at how blue
his eyes are. She says they get bluer everyday. She wonders if other people will
put the connection together. She asks if it's harder for him when she comes to
visit? He says he could be in there forever, so it may not be good on her family
for her to keep visiting. She reminds him how he once said it would be easier
for him to pretend that Jake wasn't his. He agrees and says that it would kill
him to pretend that Jake wasn't his son. Just having pictures of him makes
things better. Elizabeth wipes a tear away. Jason changes the subject and asks
Liz about Sam at the park yesterday. Elizabeth warns him that she's worried if
Ric puts Sam on the stand, she may say something incriminating against him.
While visiting Jason, Elizabeth and he hold hands and the guard comes in to
inform Elizabeth that she is not allowed to touch the prisoner. The guard
motions to take Jason back to his cell but Elizabeth asks him not to. The guard
agrees and leaves them alone after a warning. Elizabeth tells Jason that they
could make things work if he got out with regards to his spending time with
Jake. She says that she wants her family with Lucky and she wants him too. Lulu
visits Jason next and says that Elizabeth is going to have to make a choice
between him and Lucky. Next, Jason tells Carly that he and Sam broke up. Carly
is angry that Sam has abandoned him. She senses something, and warns him to stay
away from Elizabeth. Jason gets impatient with Carly and wants to know the real
reason for her visit. She whines that she misses Jax. Jason warns her to stay
away from Jerry. He is skeptical when she tells him she's using Jerry to help
free Jason. Amelia visits Jason and encourages him to claim Jake and turn Sam in
for being an accessory to kidnapping. Jason tells her to take her agenda
elsewhere. Amelia tells Jason that Sam should pay. She tells him he needs to
stop protecting her. They continue to argue. He tells her to let it go. Jake is
safe and he and Sam are over. He says, "Let it go, or else." She tells
him he is ruthless and he deserves Sam. She still wants Sam to pay for killing
her father. Sam is not done hurting those around her.
Liz arrives to see Jason.
He asks if everything is okay with Jake? She says yes, but then reveals that
she's been called to testify in his trial. She's afraid she will say something
and unintentionally hurt his case. He tells her not to worry, that's why he
keeps her out of the business. Ric knows how important she is to him. He's just
trying to mess with Jason's head. When Liz gets back to work, she thanks
Epiphany for covering for her. Epiphany asks if she saw Jason? She says yes. She
doesn't know how she's going to protect him. Epiphany advises her to tell the
truth. Liz says she wants to protect Jason because of everything he's done for
her family. Sam arrives at GH for a sprained wrist. She sees red when Elizabeth
asks her not to give damaging testimony against Jason. Violence erupts as Jason
is transferred back to Port Charles on the eve of his trial. While Sam and Liz
watch from the studio, Jason grabs the downed guard's gun and kills the gunmen.
Lucky rushes outside and pulls his gun on Jason. Sam tells Liz they're trying to
break Jason free. Ric yells at Diane and tells her this won't work. Ric also
thinks they're trying to break Jason free. Diane thinks Ric set him up. Carly
starts yelling at Ric, and an officer grabs her. Jason puts his gun down and
Lucky tells Ric that Jason took the gunmen down with the guard's gun. Amelia
checks the guards, one is deceased and the other is shot in the leg. Lucky drags
Jason inside; telling him this is his entire fault. Carly tries to approach
Jason, but they don't let her near him. Jason tries to calm her down, but Diane
ends up actually calming her. Jason is put in an interrogation room. Ric wants
Jason charged with three more counts of murder for the gunmen. Diane walks in
the interrogation room and says Ric set him up. The video shows Jason gunning
down people while still shackled. It proves he's a trained killer.
Max shows up
and Diane is surprised that Lucky lets him in to see Jason. She leaves to try
and move the trial venue to Manhattan. Max tells Jason that he's glad he's okay.
He's there because they won't let Sonny in. He tells Jason about Liz and Sam's
fight. Liz is convinced Sam will use testimony to get back at Jason. Max goes to
the penthouse and tells Sam that Jason is okay. He tells her he will help her
move, if she would like. She thanks him. She asks him to tell Jason that she
will be out of there soon. Max asks her to look past the breakup while she's on
the stand. He's worried about Jason. He knows she's not worried about him
anymore. When Sonny shows up, Ric bars him from seeing Jason. Ric asks how it
feels that his plan failed? Sonny tells him there was no plan. Alexis walks in
as Sam's attorney as says she's there to get Sam off the witness list. This is
too dangerous and she won't allow him to drag Sam into this. Amelia and her
cameraman hover by Ric and Sonny. Sonny says the shooting was for Alcazar.
Amelia tries to question Ric, but he tells her no comment.
Back at the studio,
Sam continues to berate Liz. She tells Liz that she must be disappointed that
Lucky didn't get shot. Liz tells her that Jason could have died and all she has
time for is taunting her. Sam kicks her out. Liz threatens Sam and tells her not
to hurt Jason on the stand. Amelia goes in to see Jason and tells her the
shooters were from Venezuela. They could have worked for Alcazar. Jason is upset
about the guard who died. Amelia says that Jason saved her. She plans on keeping
him from going to jail. Jason doesn't want her to use the coverage for a news
feature. Amelia tells him she will use it whether he likes it or not. Alexis
goes to see Sam. If she signs this piece of paper, she will not have to testify
against Jason. Sam will not sign. She's going to testify and tell the truth.
When they get in front of the judge, Diane tells him that Jason can not get a
fair trial in this town due to media coverage. They were there during the
shooting. Ric planned the media being there, but it backfired in his face. The
gunmen were from Venezuela. Diane thinks it will make jurors prejudiced against
Jason. Ric starts yelling that Jason is a flight risk. Sonny might try to break
him out. The judge silences them. No media at the trial tomorrow. Motion denied
moving the trial.
Ric paints Jason as a cold-blooded killer in his opening
statement but Diane spins a different story with her argument. Sam doesn't
whitewash the truth when she testifies but Diane does her best to discredit her
during the cross-examination. The judge allows Ric to show the jury Amelia's
footage from the shootout which Diane fears may seal Jason's fate. After a
chance encounter with Jason, Elizabeth is even more determined to help him. Kate
wonders if Elizabeth would perjure herself in order to save Jason. In the
witness waiting room, Carly tells Kate and Elizabeth that she has volunteered to
be a witness. She bickers with them until the sheriff shows up asking for her
subpoena. She fumbles as she pretends to look for it until they get word that
they are dismissed for the day. Liz stays behind, and Diane informs Carly that
things are not looking good for Jason. She begs Diane to make her a witness, but
Diane refuses. They argue over Jason's mind-set, and Carly insists that Jason
needs her. During the trial, Ric does damage to Jason's case by showing his
retaliation against the men that ambushed him during his transfer back to Port
Charles. Jason appears to be a cold-blooded killer. Diane tells Jason that Ric
really damaged him with that tape. When he asks what she thinks about the
outcome, she grimly tells him they need all the help they can get!
Spinelli
suggests to Jason that the truth might be the best way to go. He senses that
Jason is giving up, and he explains to Spinelli that the hearing did not go
well. Spinelli reminds him that Jake would be proud of his father. Jason insists
that there is no way for him to be in Jake's life. The next day when Liz enters
the witness room, she tells Sonny that she wishes she could be as calm as he is.
He tells her to just relax and answer Diane's questions. Stick to your story and
say what you remember. He tells her she'll be fine.
